00:00NFL legend Tom Brady has a football mind, and he's putting it to good use as part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

00:06What he did Monday night, however, has some fans crying foul. Again.

00:14Brady's appearance in the Raiders' coaches booth, complete with headset,

00:19has reignited the debate over whether there's a conflict of interest surrounding his job as a broadcaster.

00:25The seven-time Super Bowl champion is in his second year as the lead analyst for the NFL on Fox.

00:32Before the season began, the NFL relaxed the rules surrounding Brady's participation in broadcast production meetings

00:38with teams that take place before games he'll call.

00:42The debate centers around whether Brady will use the information from those meetings to help the Raiders.

00:48Jason McCourty, one of Brady's former teammates in New England,

00:51and now a broadcaster himself, explained what can be gleaned from those meetings with players and coaches

00:58on ESPN's Get Up Tuesday morning.

01:01In those meetings, you are fully discussing what the team is going on that week, specific to a single game.

01:07So you may get into what players are available for the game that given Sunday.

01:12You may get into a little bit of what your philosophy is going into that game.

01:15So you do get a lot of information that if you went out and just spread it out, it would be very difficult for those teams.

01:22That's why those meetings are very different than when a head coach stands up at a podium and answers questions from a reporter.

01:28When told that Brady was seen in the coaches' booth Monday, Raiders head coach Pete Carroll admitted

01:33that Brady talks to his offensive coordinator, Chip Kelly.

01:36We have conversations. I talk to Tom. Chip talks to Tom regularly.

01:40I mean, we have a tremendous asset, and so, you know, we all get along well, and we respect each other,

01:46and so we just talk, you know, about life and football and whatever it comes, and he has great insight.

01:55So we're lucky to have him as an owner.

01:57Brady will call the Cowboys-Bears game Sunday and will participate remotely in production meetings with those teams.

02:04He's still barred from attending other teams' practice sessions in person,

02:08but any information he receives could be relevant the following week when the Raiders meet the Bears.

02:14The NFL issued a statement Tuesday saying,

02:17There are no policies that prohibit an owner from sitting in the coach's booth or wearing a headset during a game.

02:24Brady was sitting in the booth in his capacity as a limited partner.

02:28All personnel sitting in the booth must abide by policies that prohibit the use of electronic devices other than league-issued equipment.

02:35While Brady was banned from the production meetings last year, he was still getting most of the information.

02:41His broadcast partner, Kevin Burkhart, and other crew members would tell him what was said,

02:47so he'd have talking points during the games.

02:50The Raiders, with a new head coach, general manager, and quarterback, have started the season 1-1.

02:56They lost Monday's game to the division rival Los Angeles Chargers 20-9.
