00:00All right Giants fans get fired up. They listed Jackson Dart as QB2 and Jameis Winston as QB3

00:06on their unofficial week one depth chart heading into the Commanders game so let's talk Giants

00:12quarterbacks with our NFL writer for the Post Ryan Dunleavy. Ryan got a little PTSD here when

00:18it comes to quarterbacks. Anytime I see breaking news attached to a Giants quarterback you get a

00:23little worried there but the fan base is behind this kid so was this breaking news to you

00:29when the unofficial depth chart came out or is this just something that you've kind of anticipated

00:35since you've watched Dart's progression since he got here back in the spring? Well I was clicking

00:40refresh on my email Brandon because I wanted to know what they were going to do today with this

00:44step chart and honestly I thought they'd do the chalky thing. I thought they'd keep it. Jameis

00:49Winston is too. That's how they listed it in the preseason even though Jackson Dart took almost all

00:54the number two reps. They you know as a veteran sign of respect they had Jameis listed as two so I

01:00thought they'd do that. Maybe I thought they'd do the thing where they list them as or like they did

01:05at cornerback where they list Jackson Dart or Jameis Winston as QB2 but for them to go straight QB2

01:11I know it's unofficial but you know that the people who put this out the PR staff you know they run it by

01:18Dayball to make sure that it's okay and for them to give Dart the notice too. I mean I think it lines

01:24up with what I saw in training camp but I'm still still surprised they did that if nothing else than

01:29for competitive advantages to let Washington know that Dart's number two and therefore you have to

01:34at least anticipate there could be a Dart package on Sunday. Yeah we'll kind of ask questions to

01:40Brian Dayball tomorrow when he speaks before practice. You know everybody's going to be grilling him

01:45about this unofficial depth chart but let's sit and because when we think about Jackson Dart's

01:51progression I talk to people all the time I'm like I did not think this kid was going to shine this

01:57fast so since he's looked so good so fast has he changed your timeline on when you think we could

02:05possibly see him take over as QB1? Yeah look I've as you know I do a lot of Jets and Giants

02:13Sam Darnold didn't look this good in the preseason of his rookie year Zach Wilson certainly didn't

02:18Daniel Jones got off to a hot start but he then after year one he never looked this good in the

02:23preseason so he certainly changed my timeline I think coming into the season into training camp I

02:30was looking at maybe like week 9-10 for Jackson Dart's first start uh not that I didn't think he

02:37could play before then but like for his first start now I mean the Giants better win games early or

02:42Russell Wilson better win games earlier they're that fan call outcry for Jackson Dart is going to

02:47be outrageous after he played so well in the preseason yeah it's changed my timeline I think

02:52he could play in one of the first two games or both of the first two games off the bench in a

02:57package uh we saw Brian Dayball do that to him where he throws him into series like in the red zone

03:03during practice if not you know if they're 0-2 there'll be calls for him to start week three or week

03:08four so uh if they're one and one they'll keep them at bay maybe you're talking week five against

03:13the Saints is a soft landing spot but certainly the timeline has been moved up and I think with

03:19this unofficial depth chart today you see that it's not just fans and media who are crying for

03:24Jackson Dart to be QB2 it's Brian Dayball too he he knows his quarterback is ready or close to being

03:30ready and he he's comfortable with him one snap away from the field yeah they've thrown a lot at this

03:35kid and they've kind of been unapologetic about it and he's kind of aced every single test that

03:40they've kind of thrown at him and he just continues to get better that's what you hear everyone within

03:44the building say he just keeps getting one percent better so what's kind of impressed you the most

03:49about Jackson Dart like what areas of his game has he showed you QB1 energy I'll say two areas that

03:57come to mind number one it well three actually I'll say number one is his decision making like

04:03that play he made in the preseason where he was scrambling and then he pivoted and threw like

04:08a lateral pass across the line of scrimmage to Gunnar Olszewski that was tremendous decision making

04:14he seems to know where he's going through his reads he seems to know know where he's going going with

04:19the ball he's not forcing it the number two area would be aggressiveness that's what's been missing

04:25from the Giants offense under Daniel Jones who was hesitant to throw the ball downfield ever since

04:31Pat Shermer left Jackson Dart is not hesitant to push it down the field and then number three is

04:37the moxie and that's really what's been missing around this team I don't even know if Russell

04:42Wilson has moxie Russell Wilson has confidence but Jackson Dart has a moxie about him that I think

04:49is contagious that I think all the best quarterbacks have so I think there is a confidence level that he

04:56if he's in the game he expects to do well and he's not out there trying to manage the game or

05:01make mistakes if you told Jackson Dart we just need you to you know manage our defense to a win I think

05:07he'd be insulted like he thinks he's out there to make plays to to win the game he wants to be the

05:12reason teammates get better not that they're uh winning in spite of him so that's the those are the

05:18three areas now look he's going to go through it up and downs and you're going to see some how he

05:22handles adversity right because that's the big thing we're seeing like even with the Yankees and

05:27Anthony Volpe he's lost confidence so how does Jackson Dart hit his come back from his first

05:32adversity but so far it's been all trending up and uh to me there's no reason why you you should be the

05:38one stopping that by making him QB3 he's earned QB2 all right Ryan Dunleavy thanks for hopping on with
