00:00All right London in the locker room for week eight Giants Eagles we're here with Darius

00:07Slayton I think it's the first time I caught up with you the entire year man you've been

00:10ducking me man don't duck that smoke but since I got you here on the spot right now I always

00:15ask guys to show us something in the locker room that it's like it's a must-have whether

00:19it's inspirational or it's just something really cool you want to show off to the fans yeah I have

00:25this picture it's from I believe this was two years ago this is a group of kids I work with

00:32in New York the Far Rockaway now Giants they came I got the Hometown Hero Award the Gridiron Gala

00:39and I have I have multiple pictures like this but this is the one that I currently have but it's

00:45kind of it's like a reminder you know sober mind you know of like everything obviously football is

00:50important I want to be a great football player but at the same time football gives you a platform

00:53to help people and um you know it's just something that you know I like having this in my locker to

00:57look at um self-motivate and kind of remind myself you know it's it's bigger than me

01:01always man it's like the each one reach one teach one and it's like it goes into our why like why we

01:08get up at 5 a.m to put our bodies through absolute hell um but let's get into this game man looks like

01:14you're going to be back up in that lineup I mean how does it feel to be back out there and uh

01:18I guess how you feeling about where you are going into this week eight matchup against a divisional

01:24opponent yeah it feels good you know at some point you know I kind of get tired of running on the side

01:28while all the guys are playing ball so you know it's first thing is just it's fun being able to get

01:33back out there with the guys but obviously you know want to get back there out there on Sundays and help

01:37us get back in the win column and get the scene going in the right direction uh it was a Denver game

01:40where the only wide receiver to register a stat was Wondell Robinson do you feel as though like this

01:47offense is kind of I don't want to necessarily say needed you but your skill set what you what you

01:52bring to the table within this offense do you feel it's like okay slays back let's open this thing up

01:58a little bit more throw the football down the field yeah I definitely think I'm an asset you know I

02:01think I have a skill set that can help our offense but you know at the same time you know I think

02:06I think LJ did a really good job stepping up you know the previous week he made some big catches down

02:09the field um he's done a great job for us even on Sunday in the in the blocking game unfortunately

02:14he didn't get a chance well actually he did catch a ball it just got overturned by penalty but um you

02:18know I think the guys that you know he put out there did a good job but you know obviously not

02:21I find myself capable and I think I'll be able to help it out going to uh divisional opponent where

02:27you guys already beat them now you're going into their backyard coming off this loss how big of a

02:32win could this be for you guys could this be a win that kind of just re-sparks energy not only to

02:37this locker room but just franchises all yeah I mean I think it's a division win obviously you know

02:42there's long history between the Giants and Eagles so you know for our fans for Giants fans for Giants

02:47faithful you know beating the Eagles I know it's something they look forward to something you know

02:50we look forward to trying to get done for them so you know I definitely think it'll be a be a good

02:54win to have and try to pump some life you know back into the fan base back into our community

02:58Jackson Dart four games into his NFL career I guess give him give him Slayton's grade you know

03:04Professor Slayton give him your grade and then you know what are some things that that really stand out

03:08to you when you watched him not only from OTAs to training camp to what he's able to do in real

03:15game action now yeah I mean I it's hard not to give him a you know I mean he's came he's came along

03:21really fast he's played really well in every game he's played this year pretty much um he's operated

03:26the offense well he's played fast he's by and large made good decisions you know obviously you know

03:30this past Sunday we had the one unfortunate interception but even after that he came right back and

03:34went and got us to go ahead touchdown so you know I think he's done a good job it's this is a hard

03:38league to be a quarterback especially a young quarterback you know I think he's done a good

03:41job of handling the pressures and also also the highs you know he came in got two wins you know

03:45this is New York you know you kind of get quote-unquote famous overnight you know I think he's done a good

03:49job of managing that as well lastly you've been a guy that's been through the ups and downs the

03:54roller coasters the adversities both as a player and as a teammate um within this franchise how do you

04:01keep it all together this year going into week eight um just using my past experience you know I know

04:07it's a long season no season's far from over I know that we can still achieve the goals that we

04:11want to achieve and it's just my job to help try to pull us in that direction along with the guys

04:15is it still a playoff team for sure I think we definitely have all of our goals are still out

04:19in front of us you know obviously we got to go out there and get the wins but you know I think

04:22we've shown ourselves capable capable of competing and getting them you know we just had to do a better

04:26job closing our games and finishing with the Giants on top all right man appreciate you and good luck
