00:00Wow, with that kind of levels of posability, this wolf that's where can move everywhere.
00:04Here's your spooky spot on the Super 7 Reaction, the Universal Monsters, Lon Chaney as the Wolfman.
00:30A moonlight walk through the woods is just not the same without the Wolfman.
00:38Fortunately, he's here as a Super 7 Reaction Plus figure.
00:41Inspired by the 1941 film The Wolfman, this 3.75-inch scale action figure is constructed based on an O-ring design.
00:49It has swivel head and arms, elbow and knee hinges, and a disc joint shoulders.
00:53He even comes with a walking cane accessory that has a handle shaped like a wolf's head.
00:57Don't wait for the next full moon to bring home the Wolfman as part of your Reaction figures.
01:01Keep him safe in your collection and let the rest of the Universal Monsters show him a howling good time.
01:06Talbot's looking rather tying in before, of course, we compare him with the previously looked at Bela Lugosi's Dracula.
01:12Let's take the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
01:15Now, this is available sold individually on Super 7's site for $20, or you can also get the entire set of three for $60.
01:23Doesn't really seem, though, that there's much savings when it comes to getting the entire three.
01:26I could see, though, if he wanted to sell the three for $50 and then sell them each individually for $20.
01:31It would then be the nudge that you needed to get the entire set.
01:34But it just seems like to get the set of three, it's the exact same price as getting them individually.
01:40Still, though, we're going to push forward, not to interrupt everything.
01:42We're going to push forward, of course, by taking the tape measure to see how tall the figure stands.
01:45And as you probably would expect with figures these size, you're looking at them standing three and three-quarters of an inch in height,
01:51working out to be a figure that's nine and a half centimeters tall.
01:54Well, Wolfie happens to be the second figure we've looked at from the new Universal Monsters reaction line of Super 7's.
02:00The first one being, though, Bela Lugosi's Dracula.
02:02I've already offered my two cents of what I thought of that figure.
02:04Overall, just generally good.
02:06The only thing that really did worry me a bit, though, about Dracula was the little thin strand of elastic that's keeping his cape on the back of his body.
02:12Though it clashes with the style of Wolfman, Wolfman, you'd never see him wearing a cape.
02:16Well, I guess maybe Larry Talbot could be wearing the cape, but that's not part of Wolfman's style.
02:21Wolfman doesn't really have to worry about a cape, and therefore you don't have to worry about the elastic breaking on him.
02:26The figure does come in clue with an accessory, though.
02:28Dracula, though, came included, of course, with his candelabra.
02:30Wolfie doesn't seem to like also candelabras.
02:32He wanted to stick with his cane instead.
02:34Along with his cape, let me draw your attention as well to the cool-looking card art that comes in clue with the figure.
02:39Long Cheney, of course, advertised on the top as being the main actor, playing the Wolfman, and it's from the Universal Monsters Super 7 line.
02:46I still have not figured out a perfect way of cutting out these.
02:49I know some have said, really, if you just cut the slit along the bottom, that's a hard thing to really get around with your knife.
02:54But if you make, though, an incision right here to here, that might be, though, enough to be able to pull the interior tray out and keep the majority of this intact.
03:03I know I did say, though, I wish these were more collectors-friendly,
03:05but if they are really kind of based on the vintage character art and the character cards,
03:11yeah, you know, there would be no way back then you'd make these.
03:14I mean, once you basically cut out your G.I. Joes, you'd discard the card.
03:17But before you discarded the card, the one thing you may have wanted to do, though, is cut out the file card on the back.
03:21And I like that Super 7 has done that as well.
03:24Horror and thrill show.
03:25Horror action figures.
03:27Creature from the Black Lagoon.
03:28Long Cheney as the Wolfman.
03:29And Bela Lugosi as Dracula.
03:31We will also be looking at the Creature from the Black Lagoon in an upcoming video.
03:34Larry Talbot does say he is a kind and gentle man who returns to his orchestral home in Wales after his brother's death.
03:43His life takes a tragic turn when he's bitten by a werewolf while trying to save a woman from an attack.
03:47As a result, he becomes cursed and to transform into a wolf-like creature during the full moon.
03:53Despite his attempts to control the beast within, Talbot's transformations lead to an uncontrollable violence and despair.
04:00It isn't a wolf.
04:01It's a werewolf.
04:02And again, you can't cut these out.
04:04I have already cut out my Dracula.
04:06I have plans to also do the same here with my Wolfman.
04:08Just really cool the fact that he gave him that vintage card back look.
04:12Let's move this off to the side.
04:13I have mentioned already, though.
04:14He, of course, comes included with a Talbot cane.
04:17The cane does look okay.
04:19And again, you've got the wolf head there on the top.
04:21It's sculpted generally in a pretty pale-looking gray plastic.
04:24Unfortunately, though, the way they've sculpted also his hands, he doesn't really have a means to hold the cape this way.
04:30I mean, when you get that in there, you feel really, if anything, you have to kind of wedge it in between his fingers and his thumb, which normally would be the case what you do with your fingers anyways.
04:38But I just feel like it doesn't hold the cane well.
04:41I mean, it holds, I guess, well enough.
04:43Just don't sneeze.
04:44Just don't cough on it.
04:44Whatever you do.
04:45Don't cough on my fingers anyways, please.
04:47You can also take the cane.
04:49And as you probably would normally do with a cane, too.
04:51You can also wedge it in between his hands.
04:54Now, he does have this hand on this side.
04:57It seems a little wider than the one that's over here.
04:59But you can have him using it more of like a walking stick.
05:02Or again, you can also have him holding it from the stem.
05:04The stem does get a little thinner as it gets to the bottom.
05:08So if you want to have it for best results, kind of have to have it at the top here.
05:11But again, it doesn't hold it the best.
05:16Smoothly came to the side.
05:17Getting a closer look at, of course, the Wolfman.
05:20Boy, oh boy, what a fun looking figure this is.
05:23I did really like the Dracula, but I got to say, I think I like the Wolfman just a little bit more.
05:26I have heard, though, that the creature from the Black Lagoon is one of the only figures that don't actually have a hole on the back of his body.
05:32Normal fans of G.I. Joe would also know that back in the 80s, these G.I. Joes you could dismantle.
05:37So there would be a screw.
05:38You'd just, of course, take yourself a screwdriver.
05:40I'd always be boring my dad's same screwdriver to unscrew the back of the body.
05:44And then you would take then the front half and divorce it from the back.
05:47These arms would only really sit inside, kind of little ledges on the inside.
05:50And of course, the one thing that's also known for G.I. Joes is they also have an O-ring.
05:54So I love the fact that now Super 7 are doing this.
05:56Super 7 seemed almost like they've moved away from doing the G.I. Joe Ultimate figures in favor of, like, the O-ring Retro G.I. Joes.
06:03And honestly, though, while I kind of think that's cool that we're getting more of the deep cut and obscure Joes and Cobras,
06:09I don't know if that's just really another collection I want to get into.
06:11I was really getting behind the Ultimate G.I. Joe line.
06:14I know this has nothing really to do with G.I. Joe.
06:16But the fact that it just seems like they've abandoned that line in favor of the Retro O-rings,
06:20I don't know if it's, again, something I really want to spend the money to get.
06:22But I do like the idea that they've got O-rings here on the figures.
06:25Again, I've heard, though, that the creature from the Black Lagoon, he's still sealed inside of his plastic prison.
06:30I'm sure he's already suffocated by now.
06:31But I think he doesn't actually have a hole on the back of his body.
06:34So I'm not really sure the construction of him.
06:36We will be looking at him, though, in an upcoming review.
06:38All in all, though, I really do like the look of the Wolfman.
06:40He looks just like Wolfie really should look from the original 40s film.
06:45Again, I really love the sculpting on the face.
06:46He's got kind of like that kind of afro sort of hairstyle he's got on the top of his head.
06:52Very Wolfman-like face.
06:53His eyes are really painted really quite well for something so small like this.
06:57And I like the attention to detail that they've added, gone in there and painted the teeth there, too.
07:01Now, the heads don't have much in the way of posability.
07:04I mean, you're not getting a ball joint at all with these.
07:06Standard rules would apply when it comes to these vintage figures that you'd only have just straight swivels.
07:10He seems, though, to be able to deliver a lot more when it comes to the other posability points.
07:15Again, we'll kind of talk about that more in a moment.
07:17Like, though, in the film.
07:17I wouldn't say like in the film because in the film it's black and white.
07:20But generally, though, when they have done colorized transitions of Wolfman in figures and collectibles, Larry then tends to have more of a teal-colored shirt, which he also has here as well.
07:30It's funny, though, that Talbot still has a button-up shirt.
07:33You would think that this would be completely ripped away.
07:35The lower end of his pants, of course, he's got, like, the blue slacks.
07:38Those look good there, too.
07:39The plastic that they're choosing to use, though, results in these figures being very shiny.
07:43I kind of wish that they weren't as shiny as they were, especially for Wolfman.
07:47But again, like, the plastic feels pretty good.
07:49It feels a little lighter than I think, like, G.I. Joes I've had in the past.
07:53I mean, it's kind of hard to really say that because I don't have an 80s G.I. Joe in front where I could do the comparison between the two.
07:58But it has, again, like, all the same posability points.
08:00It just does feel, though, like the plastic's a little lighter on these figures.
08:04Again, you know, you've got your O-ring on the inside, so you've got some additional posability there as well.
08:08I do actually like, though, that they also gave him the platform feet.
08:12Wolfman, though, from the original classic film, never had flat feet.
08:15He sort of walked on his hind legs or walked on his toes.
08:19They've also done that as well.
08:20There are, though, peg holes in the bottoms of his feet, even though these figures don't have yet any display stands with them.
08:25If you had a display stand, you probably could, again, just plug that onto the back.
08:29I did do that, though, with the Bela Lugosi.
08:31I used a McFarling Toys display stand.
08:33It didn't quite really reach.
08:35I think it was a little too high of a post.
08:38It didn't completely fit inside the hole.
08:39But, you know, these figures don't necessarily need stands.
08:42They seem to stand perfectly fine on their own.
08:45For the figure's posability, Wolfman does have a head swivel, and that's all he's really going to get.
08:49Doing what I'm doing right now, that's the full extent of it.
08:52It doesn't feel like he can go any further past this point, so don't force it.
08:55You're only going to break it.
08:56So he goes forward and back, back and forth, I should say.
09:00The top of the torso, because it is a ball joint, or because it's an O-ring, you get a full rotation that you would normally get with a ball joint.
09:07So the body can go down and back.
09:09You can also move it back and forth as well.
09:10And really, you could rotate this all the way around as well.
09:13The arms do hinge, or I should say they rotate all the way around.
09:16You can also easily bring out Wolfie's arms, so you can do, like, jumping jacks.
09:19Because these are also more kind of the vintage toys, you can see them, the visible pins, but at least they went in there and matched the colors of the pins to his shirt.
09:28So it doesn't stand out like big silver posts.
09:31And actually, even, like, when we looked at Dracula, too.
09:34Dracula, they went in there and used color-accurate posts or pegs.
09:37So at least it doesn't look like he's got these big silver things stuck into his shoulders.
09:42His elbows are on just straight swivels, or straight hinges, but he does have a swivel just above that in his bicep area.
09:48He has no swivels in his hands, and even though he doesn't have any moving functions in his hands, I actually like that they actually went in there and sculpted it.
09:55His nails, though, are missing a little bit of black paint, but, I mean, again, for how small these things are anyways.
10:01The legs do split out.
10:02Not a full split, it's not a successful split, but as much of a split as we can get going with him.
10:07The legs move forward, they move back.
10:09There's a little bit of a swivel, not much, though.
10:12Single hinge in the knee.
10:13I didn't notice, though, with Wolfman, this one knee, I don't know why, is loose.
10:17It shouldn't really be as loose as it is.
10:19I mean, I just have had this guy that packaged him for maybe about an hour or so, but I've noticed, though, his one knee here is a little loose.
10:26There's no articulation down below here for his very furry-looking feet, but, again, he has all the same points of posability as a regular G.I. Joe.
10:34So if you like G.I. Joe's, if you like G.I. Joe's, you're going to love, of course, these Universal Monsters reaction figures, which, again, now we've got two down.
10:42I did want to look at these individually because I kind of felt like my opinions of these could change as we kind of go through them.
10:49I don't feel like the opinions have necessarily changed, but my like in this line has continued to grow.
10:54Dracula, again, was a nice-looking figure.
10:56Wolfman is a fun-looking figure.
10:57And, again, we will be looking at the creature from the Black Lagoon in an upcoming video.
11:00Those represent the first wave of the Universal Monsters reaction line from Super 7.
11:05So far, so far in, liking this line quite a lot.
11:08There are a few little things, of course, you know, again, like Dracula does have the problem with his cape.
11:11I still worry, though, that that strap, that little thin strand of elastic is going to snap one day.
11:17And, again, when it comes to the Wolfman, he doesn't really hold the cape as well as I think he could.
11:22I mean, I think, like, if one hand could have been maybe a little bit more of a closed-sea grip,
11:25so he could have held it from, like, more of the handle,
11:28and then the other one could have held it from the wolf's head, which I guess would be the handle.
11:32Other than that, though, I really like the look of him.
11:33The color is really good as well.
11:35I know I did say this in the other review of Dracula.
11:37I wouldn't be at all surprised if Super 7 doesn't release this line again in a black-and-white treatment,
11:41as, again, like the original way that we see the Wolfman is in black-and-white,
11:45it would then be fitting that the company is going to do that in that color scheme as well.
11:48I know I did throw out earlier the idea of using a display stand,
11:50and I believe I did use the example of a McFarland toy stand, and it does the job okay.
11:55I mean, the peg seems, though, like it's longer than the hole that's on the bottom of Wolfman's foot.
12:00So, really, when you're putting the figure down on the peg, it's not actually friction-forced.
12:04It's just sort of resting there.
12:06But it does the job well enough, at least, so that Wolfman isn't going to fall over,
12:10especially if you're looking to put any of these figures in more of an interesting pose than just standing them straight.
12:15With the pose ability, at least in his knees and the top of his thighs,
12:18yeah, you could have Wolfman looking like he's stalking his prey.
12:21Man, oh man, what a cool-looking figure this is.
12:23Yes, yeah, there's still going to be the visible hole on the back of his torso.
12:27That goes with the territory.
12:28And yet, though, funny enough, I've heard that the creature from the Black Lagoon is the figure that doesn't have that.
12:32So, it'll be interesting to have a look at him when we eventually unlock him from his plastic prison.
12:37Wolfman, though, is available right now at Reactions or Super 7's store for selling for $20 apiece.
12:42In fact, actually, all the Reaction plus Universal Monster figures are selling for $20 apiece.
12:46Or, again, you're not really going to be saving any money, but you can also get the set of three for $60.
12:51If you do the math, that's exactly the same.
12:52So, if you got two of these, you'd be spending $40.
12:56And if you buy all three, you're spending $60.
12:59Still, they only work out to be $20 apiece anyways.
13:02What do you guys think of Wolfman?
13:03Let me know down below in the comments section.
13:05Of the three figures, though, what do you think is your favorite?
13:07Or do you kind of want to hold off your opinions until eventually we look at the creature?
13:11Which his review will be coming up shortly.
13:14In the meantime, though, if you did enjoy this spookerific review, do it a solid throw to like.
13:18You guys want to stick around for more?
13:19So, I hope so.
13:21I hope so.
13:21We're going to be, again, promised that it may not be, though, this week.
13:25But we will also be looking at the reaction creature from the Black Lagoon.
13:28His review will be coming up next week.
13:30And then there are also going to be some other spooky creature-related videos coming your way for the rest of Spottober.
13:35So, I hope you guys are going to be coming back for those.
13:38As always, guys, thanks for watching.
13:40See you guys next time.
