00:00This is a golden opportunity. If we get him alive, we can put him on Broadway.
00:04Dead, we can sell monkey stew to the army.
00:06Here's your spooky spot on the Jack's Pacific, the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror, Homer Kong.
00:30The Simpsons
01:00Now, we really don't want to kill him. Just kind of shoot him around the groin and belly.
01:03Before we actually look at those parts, do we have to?
01:06We'll look at the main part of Homer by obviously taking the tape measure and seeing how tall the figure stands.
01:10Unfortunately, he is, though, on a tad short side, and you'll see in a second when I bring in other examples of Homer Simpson.
01:16As for how tall the figure stands, yeah, Homer Kong is only sadly going to be 5 inches in height,
01:21working out to be a figure that's only 12.5 centimeters tall.
01:24I mean, not only is he short, he's actually even shorter than other Jack-specific Homers,
01:28and it should really be the other way around.
01:30He's shorter than a regular Homer.
01:32He's certainly shorter than Home Run Homer, who is basically just the same-sized Homer anyways,
01:36but it really should be the other way around.
01:38He's then even dwarfed when you bring in the examples of Marge Simpson.
01:41Now, of course, we do have a black-and-white mini-Marge that comes in clue with the Kong Homer.
01:45She's such a difficult figure to stand.
01:47But he shouldn't really be the size that he is.
01:49As the other examples, let's bring in Crusty the Clown.
01:52Another deluxe figure. Here's Radioactive Man.
01:54And while we're still sticking with the season, another treehouse of horror alumni.
01:57Here's also what he looks like with Dracula Burns.
02:00On one end, I guess I can understand where Jax was coming from when it came to producing Homer Kong of the same size.
02:05Generally, deluxe Simpsons figures are usually still the same size,
02:08but they only then come in clue with elaborate extra pieces.
02:11Dracula Burns, for example, came in clue with, of course, his coffin.
02:14Radioactive Man with the backdrop of Radioactive Man No. 1.
02:17Homer Kong comes, of course, in clue with his restraining at stand.
02:20So then the budget would have gone into that.
02:22I still think, though, for a figure that's still under $30,
02:26I'd have added another $15 on top of that and made Homer Kong at least twice the size.
02:31He should still be taller than other Homer Simpsons.
02:33I mean, of course, when you look at the scale of Black and White Marge, a mini, mini Marge,
02:37I still feel like the figure could have been a lot bigger than what he actually is.
02:40To come along with him, though, he comes with an instruction booklet.
02:43The instruction booklet is pretty straightforward.
02:45It shows you, first of all, the pieces that come in clue with him.
02:47So you have Homer Kong, a little mini Marge right at the top corner,
02:50and his restraining stand that we see in the episode.
02:52On the back, though, it also shows his feature, and his feature is really underwhelming.
02:56We're going to talk about that more in a moment.
02:58I guess now that you've seen it, we can discard it.
03:00We'll put it off to the side.
03:01Along with that, though, we get ourselves a mini Marge.
03:03I've got to say, though, for the size of Marge, I'm quite impressed with the amount of detail.
03:08Even though, yeah, she doesn't have any possibilities.
03:09She's just all a rubbery figure.
03:11It's quite, though, impressive when you look at a regular-sized 5-inch Marge
03:14and you see how much detail they managed to pack into such a small mini Marge.
03:20The mini Marge, though, does go into Homer's hands, and it only actually goes into this one side.
03:24The other one is just a closed fist.
03:25So if you wanted to, and if you don't want to have him in his restraining stand,
03:28you just take mini Marge, I love saying mini Marge,
03:31and sort of wed her in between her fingers, the fingers and the hand,
03:34the fingers and the thumb, I should say, of Homer Kong.
03:37He holds it, I suppose, okay.
03:38He holds her okay.
03:39My only real concern, though, he doesn't hold it well enough
03:42that when you start to operate the feature on the back, it starts to flail his arms.
03:46And when you flail his arms, periodically, I've noticed this, mini Marge goes flying.
03:51I would have liked, I don't know if I really want to necessarily say the word glue.
03:55I mean, not that she necessarily really would want to glue Marge into the hand of Homer Kong.
04:00But my one worry, though, is with the size of what she is,
04:02she's going to get likely lost rather quickly.
04:05Now, the other thing, of course, that comes in clear with the figure
04:06is that he has his restraining stand.
04:08Now, we see this at the end of that episode,
04:11where, of course, Mr. Burns has already captured Homer Kong,
04:12and he has him on display.
04:14As for a display, it certainly does look the part.
04:17It's all done here in black and white plastic.
04:18Black and white.
04:19It's all done in black and white with more of a gray plastic
04:22and darker gray for the bands and restraining chains.
04:25It's nicely done, I mean, for the attention to detail.
04:27I do actually like the little silver bracket that keeps the top part of the cross
04:30attached to the bottom.
04:32It doesn't have any lights or anything like that or simulated lights.
04:34It does have pegs, though, that, of course,
04:35Homer Kong can attach onto and some additional chains
04:38that are supposed to wrap around his ankle bracelets,
04:41little ankle bracers.
04:43All in all, though, I mean, again,
04:44like it doesn't really do anything.
04:45It is more there just to kind of keep him restrained.
04:48And I guess for that, it looks pretty cool.
04:50Now, if you want to take the Homer Kong,
04:52I guess before we actually put him onto the stand,
04:53we'll just remove Minnie Marge for right now.
04:55We'll put her off to the side.
04:57We'll put her off to the side.
04:59Homer Kong looks pretty cool, though.
05:00I mean, again, he's all done here in black and white.
05:03Very much still looks like Homer Kong from the episode.
05:06He's a little on the more darker side
05:08than really what I would have liked.
05:09I think just opening and lightening the color on him
05:12just a little bit would have maybe helped a little bit better.
05:14But I do like the fact that they've done him in all black and white.
05:17Now, from the size, again, of this,
05:19if you look at him next to a regular Homer,
05:20back to back, leg to leg,
05:23I think one of the biggest things, though,
05:24is he's got really short legs.
05:25The shorter legs decreases the height of the figure.
05:28I feel even like he doesn't even have the girth of Homer either,
05:31not as large of a tummy.
05:32But why, oh, why is he even just smaller than a regular Homer?
05:36If you're going to do anything, make him at least the same size.
05:39Or even then, make him a little bit bigger,
05:40like he should be up here.
05:42Again, the colors look pretty good to him.
05:44He's got his leg shackles on.
05:45He also has bracers there and his wrist there as well.
05:48None of these are removable.
05:49You can already see that he's broken the chains.
05:51So he's pretty much free to walk the city.
05:54The chains down below as well,
05:55these do move forward and back.
05:57There is a little bit of posability on these.
05:59I don't know, I don't really feel all that comfortable
06:01rotating these all that much.
06:03I just feel like kind of,
06:04you're going to start to strip the plastic.
06:05Even though they look like they're peggable,
06:07I mean, in the sense that they're a separate piece
06:09from the rest of the shackles,
06:11swiveling them around,
06:12I guess one good thing is you kind of move them out of the way.
06:14So if you want to have his arms moved forward, for example,
06:16he can kind of just move the chains out of the way.
06:18But they're only really all just going to stick up anyways,
06:21especially the legs down below here.
06:23He's furry where he needs to be furry.
06:25I was actually kind of surprised to see
06:26they did actually still manage to have knee articulation,
06:28even though again, like his feet,
06:30the lower end right after his knees
06:31are a lot shorter than a regular Homer.
06:33Like again, like if you look at Homer,
06:36maybe they're a little bit taller, but not by much.
06:38But he's definitely a lot shorter though in the legs.
06:40Colors look though good.
06:42I mean, the face looks really good on Homer as well.
06:45I would like to see maybe
06:46if they could have released a second version of him
06:48where he's got sort of the kissy face
06:49and he's Homer holding Marge in his hands.
06:51This is kind of more again,
06:52the face where he's like breaking his shackles free.
06:54A second version of Homer Kong
06:56with a little kissy face
06:57or maybe when he's smelling Marge's hair.
07:01I think would also be really cool as well.
07:03For the figure's articulation.
07:04Now again, he has regular levels of articulation.
07:07So there's not much that gets changed here,
07:08but then some of it's tied to the gimmick,
07:11which is the little button there on the back of his body.
07:13So the head rotates forward and back.
07:14He does have the arms hinges.
07:16Those are still the same.
07:17He also has a bend in his elbow.
07:19Now I've noticed that with the elbows,
07:20they're really tight in the figure.
07:21I had to actually force these initially.
07:23And then I thought, okay, you know what?
07:24Stop what you're doing.
07:25Stop what you're doing.
07:26Take a hairdryer first.
07:27Take a few passes.
07:28And I actually did do that.
07:29Freed up the elbow joint a lot nicer.
07:31So he's got the elbow bends.
07:32His hands do swivel back and forth.
07:34I guess you could also technically count
07:35the chains as possibility as well.
07:37No waist swivel.
07:38This is all basically one piece.
07:40The regular homers obviously would just have a waist swivel.
07:42So those are one things that are on the figures
07:44that Homer Kong doesn't actually have.
07:47He does have though legs that you can move forward and back.
07:49You can also move them out as well.
07:51And again, hidden,
07:51hidden underneath the furry knees.
07:53There actually is knee articulation.
07:54So you can move those back and forth.
07:56And he does also have foot articulation.
07:57So the only thing really though
07:59that Homer doesn't actually have is waist swivel.
08:01Everything else is still there
08:02from a regular five inch scale figure.
08:05Then how the gimmick works.
08:06So the gimmick works in a way
08:08that you push the button on the back of his body
08:09and it moves his arms further forward.
08:13I know again, it's kind of a little underwhelming.
08:15This makes more sense of course
08:16when you get him onto the actual display stand
08:18then it looks like he's actually breaking his shackles free.
08:21This though, the way that we're doing it right now
08:22I mean, even again, if you have his arms down
08:24do they do all that much?
08:26Not, not really.
08:27I find though that the more that you bring his arms up
08:30for example, he has a little bit more freedom
08:32but again, he barely, barely moves his arms.
08:35And this is all again, just accomplished
08:36by pressing the button on the back of his body.
08:38If you want to get onto the display stand though
08:40what we'll do though is we'll open up the front shackle bracer
08:43the part that goes around his waist.
08:45And that's just again, there's just a hinge right there.
08:47Take yourself Homer Kong
08:48and again, you've got your pegs right there
08:50so you've got your peg holes on the bottoms of his feet.
08:52Those will then plug onto the figure's feet
08:54just like so, line everything all up.
08:57And even if you don't get the feet right on there right away
08:59I mean, it's fine, it's fine.
09:01You can just get that attached a little bit later.
09:03So just plug that in place.
09:05Then you're going to get yourself the shackle
09:06and you just close that up around his waist.
09:08This closes a lot looser.
09:10I really wish this could have securely attached
09:12a little bit better
09:12but I guess the idea is you want to really make it loose
09:14so Homer can break free.
09:15Then you take your chain
09:16the chain will then latch onto the chain
09:18that's already on the stand
09:20like that
09:21and like that
09:22and just hook them on.
09:23They're not really supposed to stay on securely.
09:26And then you basically got Homer on display.
09:28Now how this works though is
09:30because again, like the button's right here
09:31the button actually lines up then perfectly
09:34with this little piece that sticks out the back of the post.
09:36So when you take Homer's torso, for example
09:39and you push it against the back of the display stand
09:42that back then button
09:43or that little piece that sticks out
09:45is going to push onto the back of his body
09:47and then that's going to again
09:48bring his arms closer forward
09:49and then in theory, in theory
09:51as the bunny ears
09:52as the bunny ears
09:53it's going to really release then the shackles on the sides.
09:56So we press the button here
09:57and again
09:59like it barely does anything.
10:01I mean, let's face facts.
10:02It's not that
10:03it's not the best of gimmicks
10:04but what it really should though be able to do
10:06is it should break Homer's
10:07I guess it did
10:08it broke it on one side
10:09did it break it on the other
10:10no, this one's still
10:11this one's still attached
10:12but it's supposed to again
10:14look at
10:14look as if Homer Kong
10:15is actually breaking free of his shackles.
10:17Does it do the most successful of jobs?
10:19No, it doesn't
10:20but I guess if you want to just have it displayed
10:22the way you have it right now
10:23and then again
10:24you can take yourself mini Marge
10:25mini Marge can then go into his hand
10:26I guess it's a cool looking display piece.
10:29My biggest real issue though with this
10:30is just the size
10:31it's just the size
10:33now again
10:33I can't say for everybody
10:35I mean
10:35some people would just say
10:36you know what
10:36I don't mind spending
10:37like these guys are about
10:38like $18, $20
10:39Homer Kong gets sits more
10:41closer around $26, $27
10:42so he's just a little bit more
10:44but then the deluxe figures
10:45tend to go for a little bit more as well
10:47I think for me at least
10:49and again
10:49from my own personal opinions
10:50I would have rather
10:51this guy just been like
10:52double the size
10:53double the size
10:54double the price
10:55I know
10:55but double the size
10:56so he would be
10:57notably a big bigger of a figure
10:59than a regular Homer
11:00and of course
11:00when you bring in like Marge
11:02I know it's not the scale
11:03because obviously
11:03if you're looking at the scale
11:04of like Marge
11:05whether she's going to be able
11:06to stand or not
11:07is she going to stand?
11:08I hope she's going to stand
11:09whether you have the figure though
11:10displayed along with Homer
11:12and Marge
11:12which probably isn't the best thing
11:13to do because obviously
11:14if you look at the scale
11:15of mini Marge
11:16mini Marge really should be
11:17the size of real Marge
11:18and obviously the scale
11:20is going to be a little bit
11:20thrown off there
11:21in the end though
11:22I like the look of the figure
11:22I just think the sizing
11:24is sort of the thing
11:25that kind of
11:25I'm okay with the gimmick
11:27being underwhelming
11:28because in the end
11:29I don't really care so much
11:30that the gimmick
11:30had to be there
11:31in the first place
11:31I mean Radioactive Man
11:33I felt they tacked on
11:34unnecessary gimmicks
11:35by a light up torso
11:36that increases a price
11:37for a figure
11:38that didn't need to be that
11:39in the first place
11:39Homer Kong
11:40for having though
11:41the shackled stand behind him
11:43I can get behind the fact
11:44that the figure would go
11:45for the price that he does
11:45but again for me
11:47I would rather spend
11:48a little bit more
11:48and have a figure
11:49twice the size
11:50still keeping it in plastic
11:52and I'll go
11:52and there is a plush version
11:54that Jax did also do
11:55of Homer Kong
11:56so if you wanted
11:56the bigger Homer Kong
11:57he's just going to be
11:58a different material
11:59he's just not going to be
12:00an articulated figure
12:01they definitely need
12:02to increase the size
12:03of the figure
12:03keeping everything
12:04the way that it is
12:05and just tack on
12:06another $10 to $15
12:06I can't say that
12:08everybody would have
12:08done that
12:09I would certainly
12:09have been fine
12:10to pay the extra
12:11if it meant
12:11I got a Homer Kong
12:12not of accurate size
12:14but at least a size
12:15that's bigger
12:15than a regular Homer
12:16based on the site's prices
12:18of where I ordered
12:18Kong Homer from
12:19it's exactly $11 difference
12:21between this one
12:21and say Homer and Homer
12:23Homer
12:23Homer Homer sells
12:24for $14.99
12:25whereas Kong Homer
12:26sells for $25.99
12:28now with that $11 difference
12:30you can see at least
12:31where the budget
12:31and the plastic went into
12:33Kong Homer for example
12:34comes of course
12:35with Mini Marge
12:36and the Shackle display stand
12:38now this is at least
12:39a figure where I could say
12:40okay I don't mind
12:41spending $10-$11 more
12:43if it means I get
12:44those extra accessories
12:45I couldn't really feel
12:46the same when it came
12:47to Radioactive Man
12:48and his light up chest
12:49I feel like that was
12:50unnecessary
12:50Dracula Burns
12:52yeah throw in a coffin
12:53that's a great idea
12:54this at least is where
12:55I feel like plastic's
12:56being spent in all
12:57the right way
12:58Jack's Pacific aren't
12:59expensive figures at all
13:00but again I still
13:02would have spent
13:02like $25
13:04let's talk $35
13:05let's even talk $40
13:06if it meant that
13:07this Homer was at least
13:08half the size taller
13:10he should be a lot
13:11first of all taller
13:12than a regular Homer
13:12and even then
13:14I would have probably
13:14done half a Homer
13:15even taller
13:16because this guy should be
13:17he's the king of the
13:18king of the jungle
13:19he's the king of the wild
13:20he should also be
13:21king of the collection
13:22when it comes to
13:23putting this guy on display
13:23now some could make
13:25the opposing argument
13:26there was technically
13:27also a stuffed version
13:28of Kong Homer
13:29so if you did really
13:30want a larger Homer
13:31to be displayed
13:32with the rest of the
13:33articulated figures
13:33you could go that route
13:35for me at least
13:36I wouldn't want to
13:36mix mediums
13:37I'd rather have an
13:38opposable plastic
13:40Homer Kong
13:40and that's why I would
13:41rather have this figure
13:42being bigger than
13:43what he actually is
13:44when it comes to
13:45the size of Homer Kong
13:46do you also feel like
13:47you need to be a lot
13:48bigger or are you
13:49also happy that he's
13:50the size that he is
13:51do you feel at least
13:52could we at least
13:53agree meet in the
13:54middle he should at
13:54least have been the
13:55same size as a
13:56regular Jax Homer
13:57can we at least say
13:58that but let me know
13:59down below in the
13:59comments section if
14:00the size is right for
14:01you or yeah he does
14:02definitely need to be
14:03a lot bigger twice the
14:04size even half the
14:05size bigger than a
14:06regular Jax Simpsons
14:07let me know what you
14:08guys think of him
14:09also if you guys did
14:10enjoy this video you
14:11can do it as well and
14:11throw it a like you
