00:51This is also the second Jason mask that we picked up from the Friday the 13th game,
00:54having already looked at the NES Jason or Retro Jason Mask.
00:59Looked good thing actually too that I picked this up when I did,
01:01because I haven't actually seen this mask since. At all.
01:04They have since stocked the Retro Jason Axe, which I'm almost kind of even tempted to pick up,
01:09because I've already picked up that mask for it.
01:11But since then, they have not released any other Savini Jason masks.
01:15One time and one time only was the only time that I've seen this mask.
01:18This mask, by the way, will set you back a little over $20.
01:21I know online Spirit Halloween sells this for $19.99.
01:24I think I've probably paid a little bit more than that.
01:26I would want to say, though, like more $24.99,
01:29and then the NES Jason mask was a little bit more than that.
01:31We're also going to take the tape measure, and we're going to get some measuring going
01:34before we actually look at the down and decrepit details of Jason's mask.
01:37From the top of, I guess from the bottom of the mask to the top of his mask,
01:40you're looking at it being about 10 inches in length,
01:43working roughly out to be about 25 centimeters long.
01:46Then from one end of its strap to the other,
01:49it's roughly going to be about 7 inches in width,
01:51or roughly about, I would say, 18 centimeters wide.
01:55Sorry, sorry.
01:56I don't have a second insanely small mannequin head to display this with.
01:59But just to show you, though, what the retro Jason mask looks like,
02:02along with the Savini mask, it isn't actually the exact same mold.
02:05Well, you can probably tell right away by the fact that this one does have the snaps
02:08down below for the straps.
02:09This one doesn't have that at all.
02:11The molding, though, of also the middle Chevron is completely different.
02:14And even, in fact, the hold that they put on the Savini mask is a little bit smaller as well.

02:24In fact, I actually just posted it last week.
02:27Attached, though, to the top of the Savini Jason mask in the same way that the retro mask,
02:30there is a card here that tells us it's from the Friday the 13th video game.
02:34It's also a Spirit Halloween exclusive.
02:36There's nothing really much to say on the back.
02:38And yes, it does actually show the price that I paid for this, $24.99.
02:42A little more on this, again, the steeper side,
02:44but the fact that we don't really have many Tom Savini Jason masks to go with.
02:47I mean, like, outside of really what customizers are doing.
02:49And if you get the chance to get a customizer and make yourself a Savini mask,
02:52then you're all set.
02:53But as a cost-saving one that you can find more available,
02:56I mean, certainly can't beat the stuff that you're getting here from Spirit Halloween,
02:59providing, again, you can find one.
03:01The rather interesting thing, though, about Tom Savini's mask
03:04is that it's actually based on the idea that
03:05what if Jason was able to escape hell after the events of the final Friday?
03:10Not only does he leave hell,
03:11but he also manages to take the devil's own pitchfork,
03:14taken from the hand of Lucifer himself.
03:16Granted, though, we don't have ourselves the pitchfork,
03:18but what we do have, though, is a pretty cool-looking mask.
03:20Let's go ahead and take that off right now.
03:22Again, on attention away from the fact that I've got a very small mannequin head.
03:26I'm going to see if I can still find myself a replacement for that.
03:29Getting, though, a closer look at the Tom Savini Jason mask.
03:31It's kind of really cool.
03:33There are, again, a few things like the NES Jason mask
03:36that aren't 100% correct,
03:37but I think for the most part it looks better like Savini's mask
03:41than it did with the Friday the 13th NES Jason mask,
03:43where there, again, were a few little imperfections.
03:45If we kind of, like, look at the details on this one
03:48and then we kind of compare it to the original source material,
03:50the only few things I probably would have said
03:53I would have done differently to this mask
03:54is, first, I would have not colored it the color of this black.
03:58More so, I think, with the Savini Jason mask,
04:00it's kind of more resembling like a very dark ash gray.
04:03Let's actually just move the mannequin head out of the way.
04:05We want to just more spend our time to look at the mask.
04:08Yeah, I think if you were to kind of look at the details
04:10of the way this appears in the game,
04:11the Savini mask is kind of more resembling
04:13a very dark, dark gray,
04:16which I don't really think they do the best of job
04:18of replicating here.
04:19We get more kind of a really shiny black mask,
04:22and I feel, though, like if you really had the talented time
04:24and the paintwork behind you to go in there
04:26and touch this all up,
04:28you could really make the improvements
04:29that are necessary to make this look
04:30like a true Savini mask.
04:32Things that, like the Chevron in the middle,
04:34though, I think are fairly accurate.
04:35It comes more across like a very dark burgundy in the game,
04:38but one thing I do like, at least about this,
04:41like the retro one didn't have,
04:42is that it does feel like the Chevron
04:43is sculpted over top of the mask.
04:45You can feel, if you run your finger across it,
04:47there's like a little embedded groove in it.
04:49Speaking of grooves, though,
04:50one of the things that also are pulled
04:52from Savini's Jason
04:53is the fact he does have these gouged lines here
04:55all crossed and cut into the actual mask itself.
04:59This is actually done fairly well.
05:01I don't know if I really like the color necessarily.
05:03I think this lighter kind of beige gray
05:06doesn't really necessarily work all that well.
05:08I think in the game,
05:09it's kind of really more the same color
05:10as the rest of the mask,
05:11and it's just more resembling.
05:12You can really more see the embedded grooves
05:14just by the fact that it's kind of carved
05:16more into the mask.
05:17I don't think it necessarily has
05:18that much different of a departure of color.
05:20If anything, though,
05:21it might just be a lighter shade
05:23of like the dark gray
05:24that they would have normally been using
05:26for the mask design.
05:27The mask also does have
05:28a chipped away front face, though,
05:30similar to the Part 4 mask,
05:32where you'd also be able to see
05:33Jason's flaming face underneath.
05:35The thing that's really cool, though,
05:37about Savini's Jason
05:38was the fact that he did have
05:39sort of kind of inferno eyes,
05:41flames erupting out from the eye sockets,
05:43and you also could see like flames
05:45coming out from the side of his mouth.
05:47Overall, like the mask fits fairly well.
05:49I know I showed you in this review,
05:50it's really only just sitting
05:51on a very, very small mannequin head.
05:53I can't believe the size
05:54of what Amazon was selling that for.
05:56Even just to say that
05:57that's a mannequin head,
05:58that's a mannequin head
05:59shrunk down in size.
06:01But if you look at actually
06:02the back of the mask,
06:02one thing they've also done, too,
06:04is they've got Friday the 13th
06:05of the game on the back.
06:06So again, it's pulled
06:06from the game itself.
06:08Then you've also got,
06:09similar to the retro one,
06:10is that there is a rectangular
06:11bit of like padding.
06:13So when you do put this
06:14on your face, for example,
06:15it does feel comfortable.
06:16If it wasn't for this, though,
06:18I mean, I could certainly see
06:19this would just rattle around
06:20and it would just rub up
06:21against your face.
06:22This sort of does keep this
06:23firmly pressed against your forehead
06:25so the mask isn't going
06:26to be moving around.
06:28Other things that they've also done,
06:29I think fairly well,
06:30is the coloring of the straps.
06:31The straps are like this
06:32in the game,
06:33kind of more of a brownish color.
06:34The one only thing
06:35that I would say
06:36that they've done differently,
06:37though, is they've only
06:38like snapped these in,
06:40where more so in the game,
06:41it looks actually like
06:42he's got them bolted in,
06:43almost as if like the straps
06:45are bolting the mask
06:46to his face.
06:47You don't get the bolts
06:48here necessarily.
06:49You get, again,
06:49very something similar
06:50to the NES Jason.
06:51It's only, again,
06:52really straps.
06:53The straps, though,
06:54are adjustable,
06:55so there is a fair bit
06:56of customization.
06:57I mean, again,
06:57if you have a very large head,
06:58for example,
06:59I mean, really out the gate,
07:00as soon as you get this home,
07:01that should fit
07:02a fairly large head.
07:03And then again,
07:04you just have yourself
07:04the adjustment straps here
07:05that you can just reduce
07:06the size and the length
07:07of the strap
07:08if you want to fit this
07:09on somebody's smaller head.
07:11Again, you've got, again,
07:12all the little air holes there.
07:13I think they're done
07:14fairly accurately.
07:15Again, my takeaway
07:16really from this
07:17isn't necessarily
07:18that they've got this wrong.
07:19I think I kind of had
07:20more of an issue
07:21with the retro game
07:22or the retro NES Jason mask,
07:23where it didn't really
07:24quite resemble the way
07:25it really should have
07:26looked in the game.
07:26I think having imperfections
07:28and having little scratch marks
07:29all in the mask
07:30is fairly accurate.
07:32So he's got little scratches
07:33there on the side of his eye,
07:34for example,
07:35and he's got some little scratches
07:36and markings there
07:37on the top of the mask.
07:38I think those are all correctly.
07:39I think the only thing
07:40I probably would have done differently,
07:42and again,
07:42this is easily something
07:43you could go in there
07:44and just change yourself.
07:45I also do think,
07:46before I was going to say that,
07:47I do also like
07:48that they've added
07:48a little bit of wear.
07:50Right around the chipped
07:51section of the mouth,
07:52you can see
07:52there's some discoloration,
07:54some darker grime
07:55that's sort of built up
07:56around the mask area.
07:57The only thing,
07:58like I said,
07:58I probably would have done differently,
07:59and this is something
08:00I'm sure I could probably
08:01go in there.
08:02I probably would not
08:03have darkened it.
08:04I would have not had it
08:05the black shiny plastic
08:06that I have it here.
08:07I think,
08:08if anything,
08:09a person I'm going with,
08:10any person with talented
08:11skills of painting
08:12could easily go in there.
08:13I think just paint this.
08:15Make this more of a matte color.
08:17I think it shouldn't be as shiny
08:18as really what it is here.
08:19I also probably would have
08:20made this more of a dark,
08:21a very dark gunmetal gray,
08:22a very,
08:23very dark gunmetal gray,
08:24almost even borderlining a black
08:26without actually being black.
08:28Outside of that,
08:29I mean,
08:29again,
08:29like for a mask being
08:30a fairly inexpensive one,
08:31let's get this back
08:32on the small-sized mannequin head,
08:34which again,
08:35I know is not really suitable
08:36for holding hockey masks,
08:38but again,
08:38if you kind of just have it
08:39resting on the brow area there,
08:41it's going to do the part
08:42at least of holding it in place.
08:43You know,
08:44for again,
08:44$24.99,
08:45I think again,
08:46like the NES Jason mask,
08:47I probably spent about the same.
08:49It was one of those things,
08:50though,
08:51that when I went into the store,
08:52I was actually,
08:53those were the kind of
08:53the top things
08:54I was looking at right away
08:55when I first stepped foot
08:56in the Spirit Halloween for 2025.
08:59I was looking right away
09:00for the NES Jason
09:01and I wanted to get
09:01the Savini Jason mask as well.
09:03And again,
09:03I'm glad that I did when I did
09:05because again,
09:05like since then,
09:06they haven't stocked anything.
09:08I went to where they normally
09:09would have had these
09:10and they have a whole bunch
09:11of like the cheaper
09:12looking Jason mask
09:13and I'm sure you probably
09:14have seen them for yourself.
09:15They're kind of like
09:15that tan color
09:16with the chevrons
09:17looking badly painted.
09:18It almost kind of looks
09:19like he's got wood grain on it.
09:20I don't know
09:21if I have much interest
09:22at all to pick that up,
09:23but I'm glad though
09:24that like I said,
09:24I did pick up
09:25the Savini Jason mask
09:26and I did pick up
09:26the retro mask
09:27because both those masks
09:28have just vanished
09:30completely on the shelves.
09:31Even like they look,
09:32they look like
09:32they've just gone in there
09:33and just restocked
09:34everything else around it
09:35and filling in those pegs
09:37where normally
09:37the Savini mask
09:38would have been.
09:39They just filled it up
09:40with more crap Jason masks.
09:41This mask does look good.
09:43I mean, again,
09:43there are a few little things
09:44and tweaks
09:44that you probably could have
09:45gone in there
09:46and changed yourself.
09:47But unlike though
09:48the NES Jason
09:48where I feel like
09:49the mask should have been
09:50a lot smoother,
09:51this has at least
09:52the building blocks
09:53of what could be
09:54a perfect looking
09:55Savini Jason mask.
09:56It has again
09:56like the chipped away
09:57front mouth area there.
09:58It's got again
09:59like the embedded claw marks
10:00there on the front of the face
10:01and it does have the chevron
10:03where the chevron
10:03really should be.
10:05Again, short of just
10:05changing the color
10:06just a little bit more
10:07to the darker gray,
10:08I think it's a pretty good
10:09affordable Tom Savini mask
10:11if you can find it
10:12for yourself.
10:13When I do look at
10:13that retro Jason mask
10:15that we've already had a look at
10:15from also Spirit Halloween,
10:17I know there's not really
10:18much that I can do to it
10:19other than maybe
10:20just going in there
10:20and painting the mask
10:21just a little lighter.
10:22But the coloring though
10:23of that mask
10:24was accurate to the game anyways.
10:25It was really again,
10:26I just felt like
10:27there was too many
10:27imperfections to the mask
10:29where really
10:29the NES Jason skin
10:31was more of a smoother
10:32looking mask.
10:33This one I think
10:34there's a lot more
10:35that you can work with
10:36and if anything,
10:37the only thing
10:37that you really need to do
10:38I feel to make this
10:39look the best
10:40like Savini's Jason
10:41is maybe just again
10:42going in there
10:43and painting the color.
10:44The black for me
10:45I think works okay
10:46if you're fine just
10:46to get this home
10:47and put this on the wall
10:48and don't really expect
10:49this to look 100% correct
10:50but if you're one
10:51that maybe wants to have
10:52this as accurately
10:53as you can get it
10:54the only thing again
10:55you probably would want
10:56to go in there
10:56change the coloring
10:57of the mask
10:58from again
10:58this shiny black plastic

11:23to admit that I'm not
11:24the best when it
11:24comes to painting
11:25I'm sure that
11:25I can even go in there
11:27and touch up
11:27the few points
11:28on this one
11:29to make it look
11:30more resembling
11:30like the video game.
11:32It does have again
11:32like the front
11:33broken away piece
11:34from around the mouth
11:35area where you can see
11:36again Jason's
11:36flaming mouth
11:37underneath that.
11:38I'm sure though
11:39that there's probably
11:39people that have
11:40already picked up
11:40this mask
11:41and have a suitable
11:42Jason face
11:43to go underneath
11:44that.
11:44If you could get
11:45yourself like a
11:45Jason kind of bust
11:47where you'd be able
11:47to put like a light
11:48source in the eyes
11:49and around the mouth
11:50area and then you
11:50put this mask
11:51over top of that
11:52man that would
11:53look very very cool.
11:54Jason of course
11:55would also have
11:56the chains around
11:56his neck and
11:57also carry around
11:58the devil's pitchfork
11:59whether though
12:00if the Spirit
12:00Halloween will in
12:01fact be stalking
12:02the devil's pitchfork
12:03or if not I'm sure
12:05you could probably
12:05just get yourself
12:05a pitchfork and
12:06display along with
12:07the Savini Jason
12:08mask.
12:09Like I said this one
12:10is available in stores
12:11it would be though
12:12one thing I could
12:13certainly say from
12:13my own experiences
12:14of shopping for this
12:15one if you see it
12:16try to get it right
12:17away because I'm
12:18not sure if Spirit
12:19Halloween will just
12:20be restocking
12:21everything that they
12:21sell out of.
12:22I just feel like
12:23they probably get a
12:24whole stock in
12:25stuff that they're
12:25going to be putting
12:26out and as it gets
12:27closer and closer
12:27to Halloween they
12:28have no interest at
12:29all to rebuy new
12:30stock.
12:31They're probably just
12:31going to be selling
12:32down as much as they
12:33can and then
12:33eventually as it gets
12:34over Halloween you'll
12:35start to see a lot of
12:36the clearance sales.
12:37I don't think you're
12:37at all going to be
12:38finding yourself a Jason
12:39Savini mask for a
12:40marked down price.
12:41If you can again find
12:42it definitely grab it
12:43right away if you're a
12:44big fan of this design
12:45of Jason Voorhees.
