Transcript
00:00Welcome back to AccuWeather Early. I'm Ariella Scalise and as we look ahead to the weekend and if you're trying to fly, we will be forecasting more flight cancellations this weekend compared to the next couple of days as storminess increases across the country.
00:14Here's a weekend snapshot here, drier across the southwest, but another storm back into northwest bringing rain, showers and more snow. Cooler with windy weather, a very fall feel across the north central and just stays warm across the south central.
00:29But we'll have an area of storminess to be watching from the Great Lakes down into the Gulf and the weekend starts drier along the east coast.
00:36But eventually by the end of the weekend and even the start of next week, we could see showers and thunderstorms returning for the northeast.
00:43Where we'll see thunderstorms on Saturday and Saturday evening that could be strong to severe from St. Louis down to Little Rock, an area that some risk meaning severe thunderstorms are possible in parts of the area.
00:53But we'll be watching a moderate risk, meaning more numerous storms this weekend from Little Rock to Memphis with isolated tornadoes, hail and localized damaging wind gusts.
01:01By Sunday, we'll follow that severe weather risk as it does shift to the east here from Knoxville down to Dothan.
01:08So after a stretch of drier weather, we'll watch some stormier conditions return Sunday into Sunday evening.
01:13Most concern is the localized damaging wind gusts.
01:15As for temperatures this weekend, it turns much cooler into parts of the northwest where Seattle into the lower 60s and then 50s by Sunday.
01:24It's also going to get cooler in New York City from Saturday's temperatures of 67 to Sunday back into the 50s and Virginia Beach.
01:31We'll also see some cooler temperatures by this weekend.
01:34I mentioned the next storm system moving back into the northeast that could start to send some showers by later Sunday into Monday.
01:41It's going to be much needed rainfall with the ongoing drought conditions.
01:45And just as a heads up here, we are just over two weeks away from Halloween.
