Day two of the re-launched search for a boy missing in the South Australian outback has failed to turn up any new evidence. Police, the SES and Defence Force personnel are searching a widened area for 4-year-old Gus who disappeared more than two weeks ago.
00:00SA Police have entered their second day of the resumed search for four-year-old missing Gus.
00:07This search is different from previous in that it does involve Task Force Horizon.
00:11Police say that that group is comprised of 12 individuals who are specialists with different skill sets
00:17who are hoping to contribute to the search and analysis of the findings of this particular search.
00:23Many people are wondering why the search has been resumed now.
00:27SA Police Commissioner Grant Stephens explained late yesterday that police are just hoping to make sure that there is no stone left unturned
00:35and that they're exhausting every opportunity to find the four-year-old.
00:39One thing that is making things a challenge for police as well as Australian Defence Force and SES who are also out helping is the terrain.
00:47It's very dry, uneven, rocky, sandy and not designed for lots of heavy equipment to go through
00:54which police and ADF are relying on in terms of their vehicles going through the area.
01:00Something else that the Police Commissioner explained yesterday is that the previous search looked into an area of 100 times Adelaide's CBD
01:08and that this renewed search is looking at an area of about 470 kilometres squared.
01:14At this point in time the search is looking to continue tomorrow although it is forecast to be very hot around 37 degrees here in Yanta.
01:22So at this point police are saying that the search will take place in the early hours of the day and then stop sooner than it has on previous days.
01:30Gus was last seen on September 27. SA Police are saying it is one of the longest and most protracted searches it's ever undertaken.
