Police and ADF ramp up search for South Australia’s outback for 4-year-old Gus

Police in South Australia have set up a taskforce to investigate the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a four-year-old boy in the state's outback. A search has also resumed at the family's remote property near Yunta, but police say the renewed efforts are not based on new information rather, they want to exhaust every chance to find the boy.

00:19Gus disappeared from his family's remote property located 350 kilometres north of Adelaide 17 days ago.

00:26It resulted in one of the largest and most intensive searches ever undertaken by SA police

00:32and despite the discovery of a footprint no other trace of Gus was found.

00:36Police scaled back their search more than a week ago

00:39but more than 100 police, Australian Defence Force and SES volunteers have returned to the property to look again.

00:45I'm confident that the police are treating this with all the seriousness and dedication that it deserves.

00:50Police have also set up Task Force Horizon

00:53to investigate the circumstances of Gus's disappearance.

00:56On the task force is 12 specialists who will analyse information

01:00and assess whether there should be further searches of the property.

01:03Police say they still believe Gus wandered off.
