00:02This search staging area has become the center of a desperate operation as crews search the
00:09water for a missing three month old baby boy. Searching for a small child and recovering a
00:15woman and a child from the water will take its toll on people who are involved in that search
00:20exercise. Emergency crews battling treacherous waters as they searched along the coastline.
00:27The conditions out there were extremely challenging today with very high winds and did not enable us to
00:36get water assets on the water. Authorities were called to Cape Northumberland on Monday after a
00:42vehicle was found with its engine running near cliffs. The bodies of a 36 year old woman and her
00:48daughter who police say was under three years old were retrieved from the ocean. These types of tragedies
00:54are the ones that shock you to the core. There are a lot of unanswered questions here.
00:59The family is from Compton, a small locality about 26 kilometres north of Port McDonnell. Police say
01:07they're supporting the family and have spoken to the woman's husband who's also the father of the
01:12children. They're appealing to the public for any information about the woman's movements in the
01:18lead up to the events. We won't rule anything out. We won't speculate or try and predict the outcome
01:24in the investigation. Locals have offered their support. Kudos to the community. The boys will
01:29always put their boats in. They'll always go out and have a look. Regional communities are really
01:33resilient and we'll get behind everybody and support everybody and and that's all we can all do.
01:39Police say there was no information at this time to suggest anyone else was involved in the
01:46incident. We will continue to leave no stone unturned to continue this search.
