00:02With her children in tow, Amanda Stoker was all smiles as she walked into Government House.
00:08To be sworn in to a big portfolio as the new Minister for Families, Seniors and Disability Services
00:14and Minister for Child Safety and Domestic and Family Violence Prevention.
00:19And I will well and truly serve the people of Queensland.
00:25The 43-year-old former Queensland Senator replaces embattled Minister Amanda Kam
00:30who announced her resignation yesterday to focus on her health.
00:34Ms Kam faced ongoing controversy over response times for children in crisis,
00:39some even sleeping on floors in child safety offices.
00:43This is, I don't think it's a shock to say, a difficult area in which to work.
00:48But I came to Queensland Parliament to do hard things and I will leave nothing in the tank.
00:54Since 2019 there hasn't been one child, not one child adopted out of residential care.

01:01The peak body for domestic and family violence says the change is a real opportunity.
01:06Really looking forward to working with Minister Stoker on those four priority areas
01:11of prevention, early intervention, addressing the behaviours of people using violence
01:15and healing and recovery for victim survivors.

01:22and family violence prevention sectors, it's questioned the appointment,
01:26saying Amanda Stoker lacks experience and she's never run a department.
01:31I guess I'll be showing them differently.
01:34She must address those terrible wait times for children at risk of harm.
01:41Natalie Marr was sworn in as Assistant Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training,
01:46the vacancy left by Amanda Stoker.
01:49Get to my desk and get into it.
01:51That's what I'm eager to do.
01:52Take care if you have a family as husband.
01:52I see.
01:53People can don't cry if them hear it.
01:53What are the effects of some of the challenges you think?
01:54You
