00:00The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix is bracing to help more families in need amid
00:07the United States government shutdown. The charity organization provides food,
00:12rental assistance, and other services to the community as the shutdown enters its 12th day,
00:17due to a funding impasse in the Senate, with the government saying that many federal employees will
00:23not get paid or even laid off. Anytime someone suddenly doesn't receive a paycheck that they're
00:29expecting for their house and their livelihood, it can really cause a lot of stress on themselves
00:34and their families, and it can cause a need for them to seek support from places like St. Vincent de
00:39Paul to get the food that they need to feed their families, to get help with rent, to get help with
00:43utilities, and we expect that we could see some increases with people in our community needing
00:49that help. So our food bank here at St. Vincent de Paul distributes about seven million pounds a year
00:54of non-perishable goods to our communities. We're always looking for donations of in-kind food,
00:59so that's what you think of as shelf-stable goods, canned proteins, canned vegetables, canned fruits,
01:06pastas, rice, cereal. It's always hard to know how much people need our help, but at the end of the day,
01:13because there's so many people willing to give back, it also, I think, still remains hopeful that we
01:18can be here for each other, and we can be here to lend a hand. The Senate was short of five votes
01:24from the Democratic senators to reach at least 60 votes in the Republican-controlled Senate to pass
01:29the short-term spending bill for federal agencies. The Democratic senators are using that leverage to
01:35push for continuing and expanding health care subsidies, and there is no indication of a clear
01:41path to break the impasse. Many public facilities have been closed, and much of the federal government
01:48operations and services also halted until further notice across the country.
01:53Even fathom. The government is now making tough decisions on who to be laid off and which programs
02:02to be cut. We'll announce the numbers over the next couple of days, but it'll be a lot of people,
02:07all because of the Democrats. I mean, they want to give one and a half trillion dollars to people that
02:13came into the country illegally. More important than that, because we all have a big heart. We want people
02:17to be taken care of. On Saturday, Trump said the government has found a way to pay military troops,
02:23and he had ordered the Pentagon to do so. He said they have identified the funds,
02:27and will use all available funds to pay the troops on October 15th,
02:32and he added that he will not allow the Democrats to hold the nation's security hostage with the shutdown.
02:47So, what do we need to do for a long list of our own policy?
02:50I won't allow the Democrats to do so, but the Democrats are stuck here because of the
02:51regulations, but of the Republicans, are not going to work.
02:54So, if Democrats are going to agree with this, they will not allow the Democrats to just
02:55to be able to, to do so.
02:57On Wednesday, we will not allow the Democrats to do so.
02:596edor b.
03:04This is the Democrats of the Democrats, and Democrats at the House with Stephen Hawking.
03:07So, we have played an election for a long list of the Democrats to do so.
03:11The Democrats of the Democrats are going to be Arnold, and Democrats.
