00:00The Trump administration warns that some federal workers furloughed during the ongoing government shutdown may not receive bad pay once the funding deadlock ends.
00:09A memo from the Office of Management and Budget notes that a 2019 law signed by President Trump which guarantees retroactive pay does not apply to employees who are temporarily told not to report to work.
00:22Around 750,000 employees are currently without pay as the shutdown nears the end of its first week.
00:31Trump has also suggested that back pay could depend on which workers are involved, adding that some do not deserve to be taken care of.
00:39The shutdown is hitting air travel hard, with staffing shortages affecting air traffic control.
00:44More than 3,000 flights have been delayed or disrupted.
00:47Some 13,000 air traffic controllers and about 50,000 Transportation Security Administration officers are still required to work but are unpaid.
00:57Controllers, however, will receive a partial pay check on October 14 for hours worked before the shutdown.
