Transcript
00:00Generally there's the issue of house breakings etc that we would have raised that has seemed to continue to be an issue across the island and therefore you know there were some assurances given as to how that would be treated and we look forward to the different policing initiatives to ensure that we continue to have that kind of level of safety on the island.
00:23Because you know in terms of our tourism product and how the relationship between crime and tourism goes in a sort of symbiotic way.
00:34The minority leader Kelvin Morris as he spoke to the media following a meeting with police commissioner Alistair Gavaro.
00:42Mr. Morris said in no way must crime be politicized.
00:46And I've always said that crime is an issue that should not be politicized. It's an issue that we all should be working together on and therefore I appreciate the commissioner's approach and I look forward and we would have wished him you know best wishes on his approach going forward.
01:03Mr. Morris said it is clear there is a significant decrease in murders in Tobago from 26 in 2024 to 6 at present in 2025.
01:14All right and therefore statistics like that can only suggest that we are in fact seeing some serious reduction.
