00:00so we all know Bo he was a legendary Miami Dolphin you watch him on Dolphins coverage on CBS for now
00:06and I think it's tough for him sometimes to contain his disappointment slash frustration
00:13sometimes on the post game show I was watching last week he was talking with uh well he was at
00:18the Mike McDaniel press conference he asked several questions and I think who was it maybe
00:23Jalen Phillips had joined you in the uh in the hallway Bo but it's it's tough for you to watch
00:28them collapse to a team like the Carolina Panthers no it is it is look I you know by the way what
00:36that's not the guy that's going to be in the Super Bowl that uh that the music that came in
00:41that is that bad bunny that you threw out there for me yeah Jimmy Jimmy said you specifically
00:45requested that song oh okay yeah okay tell Jimmy I said thank you for that you're welcome
00:54he's got a good presence Jimmy you're really good um anyway he's he's a work in progress he's a work
01:03in progress um yeah I guess you know I get frustrated I just you know for me um look I you know so next
01:14year will be the 50th year that I've been associated with the Miami Dolphins in one way or another
01:20and and so it's it's it's it's it's in my blood and I I just you know when when when they play games
01:28like that look when they play games like that or which are which are really hard to to grasp I yeah
01:34I get you know I get angry I get angry I get frustrated and and for the rest of the week I walk
01:40around with a black cloud over my head so yeah it's uh but I tried to be polite I tried to you know I
01:47try to you're very you're very I can see though I can see that because I I mean when Anthony Weaver
01:54preaches violence like that's the way you played that's the way your defense played and I don't
02:01think your yeah but let me ask this isn't that isn't that the way that the good teams in this league
02:09play the good teams right give me show show me one of the top teams in the league that
02:17on defense doesn't play violent football you know what Bo that you know what that brings me to my
02:26next question because I was going to ask it in a very nice you didn't even ask me one question yet
02:31oh that that brings me to the question after Hawks so you talk about work in progress Bo we're
02:40all works in progress yeah Bo your association to the Dolphins started with the killer bees
02:46it's you Bo Baumhauer Bettors Bruschinski Blackwoods I know a number of them dudes I've been around them
02:53I've heard stories who on this team could could have played with the killer bees if you see what I'm
02:58getting after because I don't know if those guys exist right now down in down in Miami Gardens
03:05yeah I I don't I don't think I could put my finger on one but I'm not saying that they couldn't
03:11it's just it's just a style of defense that they play these days you know it's um
03:16you know I mean we were a very disciplined defense we were you know you you you know you know I see these
03:22pass rushers now and you know and look there this this league has become a league of you know get to
03:28the quarterback you know any way you can um and so you got guys doing spin moves inside and losing
03:34contain and getting out of gaps and this and stuff that but but we you know we we we didn't play that
03:41way we we adhere to our rules and and that's what uh that's what you know we we were and and look we
03:48were we're we're we're a pretty physical football team but I think we were a team that was disciplined
03:54in in you know in in where you had to be and the concept of the defense you're playing to me I look
04:02at it and Channing you'll think so you you see the it's kind of going across the league you know
04:06they're playing this defense where they put two big defensive tackles on the in the gaps in the guards
04:11or on the guards right and then you put two stand-up guys that are uh slash outside linebackers
04:18slash edge guys slash pass rushers and and and then they try to play defense that way and it to me
04:26it creates a lot of holes and a lot of a lot of um I don't know space um and and the d and the
04:35linebackers have to fill gaps and stuff like that and I it's a little it's a little strange to me so uh
04:41but you know I still think I still think those guys have they been in a system like ours I think
04:48Jalen Phillips I think I think you look at you know I I think um uh you know I think the the Zach
04:55Sealer um I think Jordan Brooks those guys could play in it but they're not they're not given a scheme
05:02for to me that look we we were a team that believed in this was a bend we were a bend but don't break
05:10defense we would have guys so the concept of ours was look make them make them play make more plays
05:16to get down the field because at some point we're going to get a turnover or we're going to you know
05:22we're going to make it make some change and so you know the more the more opportunities they got they
05:27had the more we had to disrupt it and so it's um but I don't know what's going on with them right
05:33now I don't know how that defense it's a little foreign to me to be honest with you and and Bo is is
05:39Anthony Weaver kind of hamstrung because of the fact that he can't load the box or do too many
05:44exotic blitzes because now you're one-on-one with those corners and Jack Jones has got ate up on
05:49Sunday like is he hamstrung with his playbook because of his personnel well yes he is and I and
05:56I think there's a couple reasons look you got you know you got two cornerbacks that weren't even on the
06:01team um at least one of them wasn't on the team the last preseason game um and then you got guys that
06:09were injured you you know you had Storm Duck who who you know was was was was going to be their
06:13best cornerback and he was a he was a he was a uh a free uh undrafted free agent the prior year
06:20and then he goes down and and then you then you got Kenneth Grant you got uh Jordan Phillips um and
06:28you got this guy Zeke Biggins that they brought in and I think they're going to be good but you're
06:34you're just throwing them to the wolves you know they're just you know they're they're you know
06:38they're having they're having trouble um Kenneth Grant you know he gets pushed around pretty good
06:43at times which you wouldn't expect you wouldn't you wouldn't expect if you looked at him but I think
06:48it's it's you know it's they they just they got very young they're very young on both sides of the
06:54ball and you're like and look at the offense of I and I is having those issues and uh you know and
06:59some of these other guys so um and but but from the Anthony Weaver side yeah I think that he's
07:04you know he I don't think that he can run his defense the way he wants to run his defense
07:11especially if you're two middle guys that are supposed to be quote run run stoppers are playing
07:19three yards behind the line of scrimmage and not not not in the offensive side of the line of
07:24scrimmage three yards behind the defensive side of the line of scrimmage the wrong way
07:29the wrong run I've always said you know I always say this if you're a down lineman there's only four
07:36things you can do three things are good and one thing is bad you can go straight left or right
07:40but you can't go backwards backwards is bad Bo I heard you talking a little bit with Joe about this
07:48in the morning and um you know you brought up Kenneth Grant you brought up Savat Inaya
07:52they haven't been reliable to say the least this early in the season um just to dive in a little
08:00bit deeper on your thought process there is it because look ultimately they're young guys they're
08:05putting tough spots to succeed because they're basically being put in spots where they have to
08:11succeed immediately and fill massive holes or ultimately does the standard just change your first
08:18second round pick your team needs you to produce you're taking that high for a reason like is the
08:23standard they should be better flat out because hey they're taking that early and you need them to
08:29succeed no look there's a there's a reason that they're having to play because because the franchise
08:37the franchise look you had they were fine for the last three years when you had sealer and then you
08:44had and then when you had class campbell in the two years before that or three years before that you
08:48had uh christian wilkins no problem there you know but but now they don't have those guys so you've got
08:55you've got sealer who kind of benefited from christian and and and um it was a great christian and um
09:05campbell yeah and so so now so now now sealer's got to be calais campbell and christian wilkins and
09:15he's playing with guys that aren't at the level that he was when they're i know that's not making
09:19a lot of sense but the point is you you've got to play those guys and you know so so look at what
09:26happened last year with patrick paul patrick paul comes in second round draft pick he's got
09:33teron armstead there and and so he gets he gets and tron played what i don't know how many games
09:39but but anyway so he got to he got to be tutored by calais or for by teron until teron got to the
09:47point where he couldn't play anymore so then patrick goes in and he gets up like 350 snaps
09:53right so now he comes back as a second year player and look at what he's doing he's certainly the best
09:59offensive line unless maybe not maybe with brewer on that on that line and but these guys that have
10:06come in savaya naya uh kenneth long uh jordan philts they haven't had the they haven't had the
10:12those repetitions to get to the point where where he is and so they've just they basically just thrown
10:19him to the wolves you know and look you're every channing you know this the first time you go in as a
10:24rookie and you you know you're going to see blocks that you've never even seen you've never heard of
10:30you've never you know you've never played against and it takes you a while to figure it out i i thought
10:38i heard something i think it was kenneth grant or maybe it was philip said about um you know when we
10:44get down there we're wondering looking looking at looking sideways to sideways to see which way we
10:48should go when what they should be doing is just following the way following where the blocker
10:54takes him to the ball isn't that defensive concept channing is trying to block you will take the
11:00blocker that's blocking you will take you to the ball if you stay with them right yep they're gonna
11:07try to make you do something and you have to fight against it because they're doing their job so don't
11:12let them do their job it's very simple yeah yeah but so they so but they're not they're not you know
11:18they're only seeing it some of these games they go in and they're every different team every team's
11:22got maybe a little bit different uh blocking scheme and and and so they're seeing something
11:27new every day every week um i think they're going to be good players i think they're going to be good
11:31players i think all of them are going to be good players but um you know this this to me for them
11:37is is a year of learning and and it's and it's and you can tell right now that's uh it's a hard
11:43lesson being taught well no one expected that though right bo i mean i don't know what your
11:48expectations were for the season i think everybody thought i think everyone thought
11:53you're going to bring in kenneth long and he's going to be he's going to be a very good player
11:58because he was a very good player at michigan you know you're in and even savannah and i oh look
12:03although he had changed positions a couple times to get there you expected him and so you know and
12:08i think that was a lot i think that was a lot to expect of those guys look at chop robinson last
12:15year chop comes in everyone expects him to be this guy that's going to be setting the world on fire it
12:20took him half a season before he became the chop that ended up with six six sacks and even he this
12:28year is struggling because the scheme he's playing this year isn't the same he's playing last year so
12:34i i don't blame these guys for their physical talent and i do think they're going to be good
12:39um and and i think the in in the dolphins and for anthony weaver he has no other choice who's he
12:46going to put in there i mean who's going to who's going to put in those those two those two spots where
12:50you need to run stuffers in there you don't you don't have anymore and offensively bo what happened
12:57to the creativity what happened to the reverses the the shuttle passes the no look passes the flea flickers
13:02the throwback screens like what what happened to to mcdaniel's creativity we're just running
13:07normal nfl plays now i used to seeing fun stuff yeah he you know what i tell you the game before
13:15the the jets game um usually you saw a little bit that they ran that little reverse we tossed the ball
13:22from behind his back and got him out on the and then they'd get him out and uh you know get him out
13:27in the on the you know sprint him out and and get the tree crossing the cross you saw a little bit of
13:32it then but i'm with you i think i think what i don't know what the number was last year was was um
13:39i think it was like somewhere around maybe 60 percent of the passes were thrown behind the line
13:44of scrimmage you know you'd throw a little you throw those little little little outpasses to
13:50a chan and then when johnny smith came in there johnny smith probably caught at least half of his
13:56passes behind the line of scrimmage behind some kind of a screen or not so um yeah they're not
14:02throwing the ball down the field they're not you know and again chan you look at you look at what
14:08happened with darren law their first half of the game was killing those guys they're running right
14:13down the middle of the field catching footballs and then then that dried up in the second half
14:17dried up disappeared completely disappeared kimbo camper we love talking football with you bo real
14:25quick because we're out of time do they win on sunday do they do they do they get this thing going
14:29well i hope so because you know the chargers are beat up and then they got some players you know uh
14:37you know they got some players hurt you know they got backups playing but just look the last week they
14:42had a backup running back you threw about ran around for ran for about 285 yards on us or whatever the
14:47hell it was so you can't count on guys being out not being able to play so um i i think it's gonna be a
14:53tough game for them um you know it's gonna be a you know it's it's you know it's you don't look at
14:58it's good it may come down to two on herbert which is the best quarterback
15:01hmm all right bo well we'll leave it we'll leave it on that cliffhanger
15:07hey bo i thought i thought i thought it was good i thought it was very positive with my message
15:14that was good it was you were very positive today you were hey bo you got me so scared i went to i
15:20went to your spot on pine island a couple days ago and they gave me a free diet coke and i was
15:26looking around to make sure you weren't around because i knew you would never give me a free diet
15:30coke no no no no i give you i give you a gift card and you could buy your own diet coke
15:37we'll see you bo we appreciate your time all right take care kim kim bo camper
