00:00But let's start with the big sports betting news of the day here, which essentially is that if you are a collegiate athlete, there is a chance.
00:09Now, again, not official, but there is a chance that you're going to be able to bet on sports, but just not on collegiate sports.
00:15Keep that in mind. Right now, there's a potential change that's coming as the NCAA has faced an increasing number of alleged betting violations by student athletes in years.
00:24And so they're looking to potentially regulate this and figure out a way that the NCAA could allow athletes to bet on the pros.
00:33So that would mean if you're a collegiate athlete, you could bet on the NFL.
00:36You could also bet on the NBA, but you would have to stay away from betting on your own sport.
00:42This way, it makes it easier for them to monitor. They know exactly who is doing what.
00:47Some people feel like this opens up a can of worms.
00:49I think this opens up more regulation for sports and it allows athletes to be involved if they choose.
00:56Again, you still have to be of legal age in the states as well.
00:59OK, so yesterday, a report came out yesterday from a gentleman who covers collegiate athletes.
01:06His name is Ali Connolly, and he went on social media yesterday and told the world that Bill Belichick is looking to get out of his contract at the University of North Carolina.
01:17I mean, folks, he hasn't been there a year.
01:18In fact, there's only been a few games left that have happened during the season.
01:22But apparently, according to this report, he's willing to trigger his own $1 million buyout if he can find another job.
01:32That's the only part of this report that seems a little odd to me.
01:35Doesn't it seem odd to you that the only way that he would trigger the buyout is if he had another job?
01:39I got news for you. Bill Belichick is not getting another job right now in coaching at any level for the time being.
01:45That's that doesn't pass the sniff test to me as somebody who's reported for a long time.
01:50But listen, where the tea leaves have been out there, we know that this is not going well for Bill Belichick.
01:55And there's pictures of him, you know, on the bye week, not even being around the team.
01:59Who knows? But then after that, a release came out from the University of North Carolina, which is even more surprising because generally when something like this happens, you don't put out a release.
02:08Because if it's nonsense, you don't need to.
02:11But quotes, here they are from Bill Belichick in North Carolina.
02:15I'm fully committed to UNC football and the program that we're building here.
02:19Why does a statement even need to come out?
02:23Very, very odd story.
02:25Set of circumstances even odder.
02:27Hopefully we'll get some resolution.
02:29My prediction, by the way, for anybody that cares is that Bill Belichick is not coaching another game.
02:33The University of North Carolina is too much out there for this to continue.
02:36We'll see. Don't bet on that, by the way.
02:38I'm not advising that bet.
02:40Okay, Phillies are back in the series with the Dodgers.
02:42They win last night and essentially clobber the pitchers on L.A., including Clayton Kershaw.
02:49Kyle Schwarber hit two home runs.
02:51And they're alive and well in the series.
02:53They'll play again today.
02:53They're going to need to win again today to send this back to Red October at Citizens Bank Ballpark.
02:58If the offense of the Phillies comes alive, then yes, this could potentially be a series, but they're going to need to do it yet again today.
03:06We'll see if that ends up happening.
03:08Here's Kyle Schwarber, who has a ton of postseason experience, talking about what it's like.
03:12Yeah, I don't know.
03:14I mean, I've been very fortunate to be in a lot of postseason games in my career, and it's just the best form of baseball.
03:24I sincerely believe that it doesn't matter.
03:28Like I said, you could be hitting 100 or you could be hitting 500.
03:31Did you win the game at the end of the day?
03:33That's all that matters.
03:33So, you know, that's why it's just such a fun format.
03:42You know, you're just grinding.
03:44You're trying to find a way to win a baseball game, and it's going to work out sometimes.
03:51It's not going to work out.
03:52But at the end of the day, the preparation is still going to be there.
03:55The intensity is going to be there, and the buy-in from everyone is going to be there.
03:59We had an early opportunity in that first situational at bat versus Nola.
04:05And then they, you know, after two innings, they went to Ranger.
04:08You know, Tommy leads off that, you know, gets that first homer.
04:12And then after that, I just felt that we just couldn't put anything together versus Ranger.
04:19The cutter, the sinker, the change-up mix, and just obviously really didn't threaten in any capacity.
04:27And he threw the ball well tonight.
04:31Let's move on to the series in the American League that came to an end yesterday.
04:36The New York Yankees in the Bronx are going home.
04:39The Blue Jays are moving on.
04:41Toronto heads to the American League Championship Series with a 5-2 win as they take care of business.
04:48And really, I would say, deserved it.
04:51They played absolutely the better series.
04:53The Yankees did come back to win one game in this thing, but the Blue Jays pitching has been better,
04:58especially the starting pitching and also timely hitting, very critical to the Blue Jays lineup.
05:04So what does it all mean with John Schneider, manager of the team, says it's chemistry that got them this far?
05:10I think because they're a really close group, I think they're talented.
05:13And we had some big-name guys do some big things.
05:18And we had some guys that have been doing it all year do some things that they normally are pretty good at.
05:22So it's a really close group.
05:25And if I've said it to you guys once, I've said it a million times,
05:29they're really good at turning the page to the next thing that's important.
05:31So just happy for everyone that was involved and kind of fitting that it took everyone to win today.
05:36The ending's the worst, right, especially when you know you have a really good group
05:44and a group of guys that really came together so well at the right time, the final couple of months.
05:53This was a team, and it's a team that played for one another, did a lot of really good things,
05:59and we got beat here, you know, credit to, you know, the Blue Jays and the year they've had.
06:06And, you know, they beat us this series, simple as that.
06:11Yankees got all the way to the World Series last year.
06:14This year came up well short of that.
06:16We'll see what changes are made with the Yankees in the offseason.
06:18Meanwhile, the Brewers and Cubs series does roll on.
06:21Cubs take care of business.
06:23In game three, close game, four to three.
06:25You see the final there.
06:27They'll move on and play once again this evening.
06:30There's a chance that the Brewers can still wrap it up,
06:32but the Cubs could potentially send this back to Milwaukee if they win tonight,
06:37and that would mean there is a game five.
06:38Speaking of which, back to the American League we go.
06:41Game five between the Mariners and Tigers is all set for Friday night.
06:44It's a winner-take-all scenario as Detroit comes through, scores nine runs,
06:48thanks to Riley Green and company.
06:49They beat Seattle nine to three, and the Tigers are still alive for one more game
06:55in which they will likely have Tariq Skubal's start, so that's all they can ask for.
06:59Meanwhile, tonight, 6.08 Eastern, the Phillies will take on the Dodgers.
07:04Dodgers can wrap it up.
07:05Phillies can keep it alive.
07:06Brewers can also wrap up their evening tonight and their series against the Cubs,
07:11but they'll got to play that one at Wrigley Field.
07:13A lot of baseball tonight, and if you're not watching baseball, maybe it's football.
07:16Eagles will take on the Giants this evening in the Thursday night affair over on Amazon Prime.
07:22Seven-and-a-half-point favorites are the Eagles at New York.
07:24Total of 40-and-a-half, low total tonight.
07:27A lot of these Thursday night games tend to be low-scoring.
07:30The Cleveland Browns, Kevin Stefanski, says that he's not yet ready to name Shanoor Sanders
07:35the number two quarterback.
07:36Now that Joe Flacco is in town, it'll be Sanders or Bailey Zappi.
07:40Jaguars make a trade yesterday, getting cornerback Greg Newsome
07:44and send Tyson Campbell to the Browns.
07:46Brock Purdy for the San Francisco 49ers this week, not practicing.
07:51It looks like Mack Jones could start again this week against Tampa Bay.
