00:00But first, let's get to our big story of the day.
00:03Calci will still roll on, folks.
00:05An appeals court in New Jersey has decided that Calci may continue in the Garden State.
00:12Now, all states could be different, but at least in New Jersey,
00:16event contracts and the companies that run them apparently will continue.
00:20So what does it mean?
00:21Good news for Calci, probably good news for Polymarket, Crypto.com,
00:25and all of the other prediction market companies, including DraftKings, by the way, and FanDuel.
00:29That can continue, at least for the time being.
00:32Also, the President of the United States has a new regulation in college sports,
00:36which could change the NIL landscape quite a bit.
00:39In fact, college athletes now, with this new executive order,
00:43can only play a maximum of five seasons in college sports.
00:47So those seven- and eight-year college football players, bye-bye.
00:52Maximum of one transfer, by the way, before graduation.
00:55Otherwise, the old rules step in, and you've got to sit out a full season.
00:59That's interesting as well.
01:01And also, schools that violate the risk could lose federal funding.
01:06That could be a big factor as we move forward in college sports, especially football as well.
01:12Okay, congratulations.
01:13By the way, yesterday, in case you missed it, on the women's side, UCLA, college basketball champions.
01:19They win their first national championship, and they beat the best team in the country, South Carolina.
01:24A blowout, 79-51.
01:2828-point margin of victory.
01:30Third largest in Division I women's college championship final.
01:34Here's Corey Close on the emotions of her squad getting all the way to the championship and then taking home
01:41the title.
01:42Any questions for Coach until her time?
01:45Yeah, it's hard to even know what to say.
01:49First of all, thank you to all of you for partnering with us, you know, for this amazing game.
01:56I remember my dad used to say, if you can, I mean, he knew I loved to compete.
02:01He goes, if you can take something that you love and continue to compete and impact people's hearts in the
02:08process, you found a good thing.
02:10And this has been a calling, not a job, and I just am like so, it's just, I've been saying
02:17it all day, but I don't even know how else to say it.
02:19It's immeasurably more than I could ask or imagine.
02:21And so I just am really grateful, but it's really, it's not about me.
02:25It's about watching these incredible young women be dream chasers, to watch them grow in ways that they will remember
02:33and it will stick with them for the rest of their lives.
02:35And it's about their work and their habits yielding.
02:39And we say this, we want to recruit courageous.
02:42I'm kissing me, choked up.
02:44Because there's a lot of times where we wondered if it could be true.
02:47I said, I wanted to find uncommon, courageous women that were willing to make uncommon choices that maybe possibly could
02:54yield an uncommon result.
02:56And today it did.
02:58That will open up for questions for student athletes.
03:01UCLA takes home the title and naturally we'll figure out who wins tonight's title.
03:05But one thing we know for sure is that Dusty May is going to continue at Michigan, regardless if they
03:10win or lose.
03:11In the national championship game, he said that he is not pursuing any other opportunity.
03:16Meanwhile, solo ball, the guard from UConn, he's off the injury report for the championship.
03:20He's been in a walking boot, still questionable.
03:23We'll see if he plays and how much he plays tonight.
03:25Michigan forward, Yaxel Lendenberg, not on the injury report.
03:29He sprained his left MCL in the first half against Arizona on Saturday night.
03:34And also contract extension for Nate Oates at Alabama.
03:37He's among the top five highest paid college basketball coaches.
03:41It runs through the 2031-32 season.
03:45Okay, Cooper Flagg.
03:46Man, is he making a push toward rookie of the year?
03:48This is coming down to the wire, folks.
03:49He scored 96 points in two games over the weekend.
03:5351 Friday against Orlando.
03:5545 more on Sunday against the Lakers.
03:58He is currently back to being favorite of rookie of the year over Cotton Upple.
04:02This is coming down to the wire, folks.
04:04Here's Cooper Flagg on his two-game performance.
04:07And here's King James on Flagg.
04:10Two incredible games, the last two.
04:12But as you've noted, you said you didn't give the fans much this year.
04:15I mean, you personally, what will you remember the most from the same debate?
04:20I think the losing.
04:22That's something that I think, me personally, but I think the whole team in general,
04:26would definitely take away from this year.
04:28That's a terrible feeling.
04:29I think, you know, it's not fun to, you know, lose so many games.
04:33So, I think just taking that and using that, the motivation, you know,
04:36also along and getting ready for, you know, another season.
04:38And I think it's something that, me personally, I'll definitely take away from this season.
04:44I think I'll just get the growth.
04:45I think there's been a lot of growth, you know, throughout the season
04:48from a lot of, you know, different guys.
04:50So, I think that's definitely something to take away from this.
04:52I mean, he's obviously special.
04:55I mean, I've seen that all the way back to, like, the AAU days when, you know,
04:58he was coming up in the ranks and playing with his team out of Maine
05:02and just doing the things that he was doing on the circuit.
05:05So, I knew he was special from there.
05:07And he's just taking that from, you know, what he was doing back home
05:11to the AAU circuit to Duke.
05:13And now here, he's just getting better and better and better.
05:15It looks like he loves the game.
05:17He's putting in the work, so he's getting better.
05:18But it's a great rookie class.
05:20I mean, you look at Vijay in Philly.
05:21You look at Condon in Charlotte.
05:23You look at, you know, look at Dylan in San Antonio.
05:26It's a great rookie class.
05:27And all those guys are making an impact on their respective teams.
05:31So, the league's in good hands with those rooks.
05:35All right, good analysis from LeBron on the rookies.
05:38Meanwhile, who had the Pistons taking the East crown in the regular season?
05:42Not me.
05:43116-93.
05:44They beat the 76ers.
05:45That's right.
05:46They're the number one seed going into the NBA playoffs.
05:49Will they have Cade Cunningham?
05:50Still TBD.
05:51Meanwhile, Jason Tatum, eighth double-double in the Celtics win over the Raptors.
05:56He has eight double-doubles and a triple-double since coming back.
05:59Joel Embiid, meanwhile, frustrated not playing for Philadelphia over the weekend
06:05with a right oblique issue or injury management, whatever they're going to call it,
06:09says that, quote,
06:11quote, I guess they won't let me play basketball, says Joel Embiid.
06:14Okay.
06:15Meanwhile, Giannis Antetokounmpo, there's an injury investigation going on,
06:18whether he should be playing or not playing.
06:20Is he hurt?
06:21Is he not?
06:22All this tanking stuff getting involved.
06:24Meanwhile, Luka Doncic, he's not tanking.
06:26He wants to get back and play on the court.
06:28He's going overseas to see if he can get back quicker
06:30from that grade two hamstring issue to expedite his return to play.
06:35Of course, the NBA playoffs, folks, are right around the corner.
06:38Meanwhile, no playoffs for the Red Sox if the season ended today.
06:42Good thing they're only nine games in.
06:43Two and seven, Boston, on the season.
06:46What in the world is going on?
06:47That's the worst record in baseball.
06:49Hearing some sell-the-team chants going on in Beantown.
06:52It has not gone well.
06:53Roman Anthony said afterward that the fans have every right to be upset.
06:58Here he was post-game yesterday saying, time to get it going.
07:01How do you guys kind of find that consistency,
07:04understanding that there is a lot of baseball left,
07:06but it'd be nice to see some results.
07:10Yeah, you just continue to show up every day and work your ass off
07:14and get in the video room and be prepared as you possibly can.
07:17And, I mean, no, I don't think that we're not doing that.
07:22I think, again, it's just a tough stretch,
07:25and we need to find a way to just bring more energy and just be better.
07:31This is unacceptable.
07:33It's unacceptable to the fans.
07:35It's unacceptable to the standard that we set for ourselves.
07:39So it's as simple as showing up and doing everything you possibly can,
07:43whether that be the night before or the day of,
07:46and just prepare as best as we can
07:47and kind of just feed off of each other
07:50and leave it up to the next guy
07:52and do everything you can to just find a way on,
07:55find a way to execute pitches,
07:56do whatever you can to help the team win and to just win.
07:59Meanwhile, on the flip side,
08:00there is some good news for one team in baseball.
08:03That is the Tampa Bay Rays.
08:04After winning their series this weekend on the road,
08:06they are back at Tropicana Field
08:09for the first time in over a year
08:12playing in the renovated trop.
08:14Should be a special 4.05 p.m. Eastern Star.
