00:00It was frustration for Leeds United as they lost a home game for the first time in over a year,
00:08as Tottenham Hotspur won by two goals to one at Elland Road, much to the disappointment of Daniel Farker.
00:16Leeds United battled hard in the pouring rain in West Yorkshire on Saturday afternoon,
00:21and given the nature of their performance, they looked for large parts as if they could take something from the match.
00:27But, ultimately, it was Tottenham's quality in attacking areas that saw them take the three points back to North London.
00:35Leeds were perhaps the opposite. They lacked cutting edge in forward areas,
00:40and they missed a number of chances that would have seen them take at least a point from proceedings.
00:46Tottenham, though, they'll go back to North London very happy indeed.
00:50They've certainly made a very good start to the season.
00:52Frustration, then, for Leeds, but let's go back through the game to see exactly how Spurs left Elland Road with the win.
01:02Leeds started brightly and looked to get themselves into an early lead,
01:06and this they almost did when Joe Rodon's header crashed off the post in the opening period of the match.
01:12But they were punished for not taking this opportunity when Matthias Tell's deflected strike found the net past Carl Darlow.
01:20Leeds, though, were soon on terms, Noah Okafor scoring a rebound from Brendan Aronson's initial shot,
01:27with the Leeds crowd greatly appreciating the efforts that their side had put in during the first 45.
01:33The duels continued in the opening period of the second half,
01:37and Leeds were hoping to take the lead for the first time in the match, but Spurs had other ideas.
01:43Mohamed Koudos managed to drift inside off the right wing and find the back of the net with Carl Darlow helpless to stop the inevitable.
01:52Daniel Farker was proud of his side's performance after the full-time whistle, but thought they deserved more.
01:57Yes, very unfortunate.
01:59So, first, overriding feeling is, of course, we are disappointed because we're playing for results.
02:05There are no pictures on the table.
02:06You want to win points.
02:08And this is why we play football, and for that we are disappointed.
02:11Apart from this, I have to say, just many compliments, nearly congratulations to the Leeds for this performance,
02:19because after this game, I would be normally disappointed even with the draw,
02:23not even to speak about a loss.
02:25We were the better side today.
02:27We were the better side in all aspects.
02:30We had more possession.
02:31We had more passes.
02:32We had more expected goals.
02:34We had more shots.
02:34We had more shots on target.
02:35We had more big chances created.
02:37We had more big chances missed.
02:38We had more corners.
02:41In each aspect, we were the better side today.
02:44But, yeah, football is decided by goals.
02:48Sadly, we missed too many of the good chances today in the first half and the second half.
02:53And we allowed ourselves in each halftime one bit clumsy loss of the ball, first half, bit unnecessary loss of the ball.
03:02Extremely happy with the win.
03:04I think if you want to build any successful team, I think you need mentality and character and cohesion and togetherness.
03:15No matter if you play like Inter or Barcelona or whatever style of play, you need that willingness to do everything to win.
03:27I think we are building that more and more in the team.
03:30And let's say you can say last 10, 15, where they pushed us back and we also dropped a little back.
03:40And, you know, but I thought it was throughout the game.
03:44I actually think that until the 80th minute, I'm very happy with those 80 minutes, you know, give and take.
03:51I felt it looked very solid defensively.
03:53I think we gave the goal away, which is like a cross-deflective shot.
03:59And then, of course, I know they hit the post, but I think it looks more dangerous than it is.
04:04That's what we gave away until the 80th minute.
04:06Leeds, like Sunderland and Burnley, who came up alongside them from the championship last season,
04:12will know that in the Premier League, they will come up against opposition who have quality to punish them,
04:18despite they themselves having enough chances to take points from the game.
04:22This was the case against Tottenham.
04:23Leeds had numerous chances throughout the match, but ultimately Tottenham had the quality to put the ones that they had away.
04:30Leeds did not do this, and that ultimately cost them at Elland Road.
04:35Leeds now go into the international break, rueing those missed opportunities,
04:39but they know that they will win more points this season.
