00:00The start of the new Premier League season has nearly arrived now,
00:07and for Leeds United, excitement is growing amongst the fan base
00:10as they are set to make their return to England's top flight
00:14following their promotion and championship title win last season.
00:18However, in their last game in pre-season against Villarreal,
00:22in which they drew 1-1 with Joel Perrault scoring Leeds United's goal,
00:26there was some concern afterwards from Daniel Farker
00:29that they are slightly light in attacking areas.
00:32Certainly, Leeds have been busy so far in this transfer window
00:35and brought in a lot of defensive reinforcements,
00:39certainly a lot of physical players with lots of height
00:43that should dominate many forward lines in the Premier League next season,
00:48but in attack, they are a little bit lightweight, and Farker was telling the truth.
00:54Certainly, they've lost Mano Solomon, who, of course,
00:56was an influential part of their championship title push last season.
01:00He's gone back to his parent club, Tottenham Hotspur.
01:03And, of course, they do have Joel Perrault, but he's never played in the Premier League before.
01:06They've brought in a striker in Lucas Nemecha, but, again, has limited experience in England.
01:12And Patrick Bamford is not part of Daniel Farker's plans going forward,
01:15so Leeds United are perhaps a bit short in the goal-scoring department.
01:20Of course, they have attacking midfielders who contributed an awful lot last season,
01:25such as Dan James.
01:27But will that be enough to help them score enough goals to survive?
01:31Let's hear what Daniel Farker had to say.
01:32Good shift, yes.
01:37You know my attitude.
01:38I'm just really happy once we win the game,
01:40but we face the strong opponent here aside on Champions League quality,
01:44but, yeah, to be honest, it's also the quality that we will face in the Premier League,
01:47and we have to deal with it.
01:49You could feel that it's pre-season still for both teams.
01:53Of course, with many substitutions, sometimes the details were not perfect,
01:56but I think both teams had the chance to win.
01:58Both teams could have avoided perhaps the goal.
02:01Both teams could have made more out of their good situations.
02:05Overall, I think they deserve to run against such a good side
02:08in the situation where we are still building for the Premier League.
02:13Definitely a good test.
02:14I mean, what you want to see is what you've got now, isn't it?
02:18Are you seeing those things that you need to see at this stage?
02:21Yes, overall, I think we are on a good path to be strong in the centre,
02:26so goalkeepers were today both halftimes in good shape.
02:30We have also Lucas Perry, who is right now starting to build his fitness level and shape.
02:37We are in a good position for the Premier League there.
02:40Also in the centre of the park with our additions as soon as Sebastian Bonneau
02:44on the centre-back position is ready.
02:47And also in the midfield, we have good options.
02:48I think it was also obvious to see that we need to do something in the offence.
02:51There's also no doubt about this,
02:53but overall, we have a good group to build on
02:56and we have a good chance if we do the right steps also in the upcoming weeks,
03:00then also to be ready as quick as possible for Premier League level.
03:04Yes, because it's not that easy on this level to create chances to score goals.
03:08I think even in the first half, we had a good situation.
03:10We could have done a bit more out of this with a bit more quality than in our play.
03:16But overall, I think we're on a good pass, but there's still work to do.
03:19That was, I think, also obvious.
03:21I mean, you've got another week, so a good week with the group and then the final game.
03:26Are you going to be in the right place at the right time as far as the preparations go?
03:29Yes, we will see.
03:31Obviously, we have a bit more than two weeks right now to prepare.
03:35Again, in the centre, in the defence, we are on a really good pass.
03:39Offensive-wise, if we're really honest, we have lost one of our main threats in the offence with Mano Solomón.
03:47Didn't have many additions so far, if I'm really honest.
03:52If then players like Daniel James, who is important for us,
03:55or also Jack Harrison, who was not available due to injury, are not available,
03:59then of course it's a bit thin in the offence.
04:01We know what we have to do, that we need also to strengthen the squad a little bit on these positions.
04:06Yes, also in the full-back positions, if there is an injury like at the moment for Jadon Bogle,
04:13it's also not that easy.
04:15So I think we have to be aware also in this position as well.
04:19So there is still lots of work to do.
04:22I can't promise anyhow that everything is there in time for the first game day
04:26because these players need also, of course, a few training sessions with us,
04:30but we try our best in order then to be really latest, really latest.
04:34I prefer it, of course, for the first game day, but latest after the first international break
04:40then really ready and competitive for the Premier League.
