“For I am the Lord, I do not change;
Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
Yet from the days of your fathers
You have gone away from My ordinances
And have not kept them.
Return to Me, and I will return to you,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
“But you said,
‘In what way shall we return?’
Malachi 3:6-7

00:00okay good morning friends good to see you all praise the lord we were really shocked to hear
00:24about the events in manchester last week and we do continue to pray for jewish people stand with
00:32israel stand with the jewish people and with all who are suffering in the cause of this terrible war
00:38we hope that there will be some settlement i was interested to i'm probably going to speak about
00:44it tonight just to look through some of the terms of the agreement which president trump has put
00:49forward in relation to prophecy of daniel 9 27 and there are some very interesting parallels actually
00:58which i'll be talking about tonight so if you're interested in that come along we hope there will
01:03be peace but we also hope that it will be a just peace and of course we hope that the hostages
01:07will be released soon so that's uh very much on the agenda and we should also use this opportunity i
01:17mean i just spoke to an orthodox jewish man coming down the street and i said i'm really sorry what
01:22happened in manchester and we're standing with israel jewish people and he said thank you and god
01:27bless you it's opportunity just to if we feel we can just to give a word and just say we're standing
01:33with jewish people and to pray for them and stand with them i'm planning to write a letter which will
01:39send to the synagogues around about here saying that we are standing with israel and the jewish people
01:44at this time anyway let's just have a word of prayer lord we do thank you that we do have your
01:52word we pray for israel we pray for the jewish people we pray that you'll help us to be a comfort
01:56and a help to them and we pray also for the inclusion of this this peace agreement that the
02:03hostages will be released and there will be a measure of peace for the people of israel and gaza
02:09and there'll be some help to those who are have suffered so much through this war on both sides
02:15and that there'll be some
02:17even a temporary time of peace lord that people can recover from the situation but we do pray lord for
02:26ourselves also we pray help us to understand these things in the light of your word
02:30i pray you help me to speak this morning and that you'll guide me by your holy spirit in jesus name
02:37amen not actually going to speak about israel this morning but we're going to ask the question has god
02:44changed his mind uh does god change according to our circumstances should we change the world
02:52change the message or should we actually contend for the faith once delivered to the saints
02:58faith in a god who doesn't change a couple of scriptures from the book of malachi
03:05says i am the lord i do not change therefore you are not consumed oh sons of jacob
03:12and in the new testament in the book of hebrews jesus christ yeshua ha-mashiach is the same yesterday
03:20today and forever so we're living in a time of change things are happening causing change on many
03:27levels in society whether to do with race relations immigration cost of living crisis salt on traditional
03:36moral values meaning of life all things are shifting and changing of many people in politics change is a
03:45good thing let's change what is a rotten system into a better system let's have a better world
03:50let's create a new world in which things function better others say no we need to conserve what is
03:57good in our society and resist some of the changes which are actually making things go from bad to worse
04:02from a christian point of view the big change that god wants to see is a change in us
04:07the word repent and believe the gospel interesting the word for repent in greek is metanoia which means
04:18change your mind change your thinking change the way you're going word in hebrew is teshuvah which means
04:25change your direction you're going one way change and go the other way and god's calling us actually to
04:30change our direction where we're going and to change our minds change our minds about him and about god and
04:36about salvation
04:37but a lot of people are saying we need to change the world
04:42may have heard the famous quotation from karl marx
04:45said the philosophers have only interpreted the world
04:49the point however is to change it
04:51point is to change it
04:542008 president elect obama gave a victory speech in which he said change has come to america
05:00he called for the nation to summon a fresh spirit for a new dawn
05:04of american leadership
05:06and change is also the theme of the manifesto published by the labor party last year
05:13which they said at this election we can change britain
05:17we can stop the chaos turn the page and start to rebuild our society
05:21change the world
05:24well how's it going
05:25the desire for change may be genuine and needed
05:30because there's something we do need to be changed in our society
05:34but a lot of the track record of people who are trying to change the world is not terribly good
05:38i used to be influenced by marxism in my youth
05:42even joined the communist party for a while
05:45but then i saw that the change which they brought about
05:48was not that great
05:49communist revolution came out of marx saying change the world
05:54change the corrupt czarist regime
05:57into an even more corrupt and despicable actually
06:01soviet communist regime
06:03which started and killed about 13 million people
06:05in the process of changing russian society
06:08well obama did bring some changes to america
06:12a lot of the changes came with the influence of kind of woke ideology and
06:17pushing
06:19that kind of way of thinking
06:22also
06:23greater openness to islam and pushing islam
06:26which had the reaction which you now got with trump with mega and the
06:30reaction against it
06:32and a kind of
06:33bigger
06:34conflict between right and left
06:36and polarization in society
06:38and we got something similar happening in our society as well
06:41change between the right and the left
06:44the labour party conference
06:48starmer was attacking nigel farage
06:50also people went on the recent unite the kingdom march
06:55as being divisive and racist and right wing
06:58and all that kind of stuff
06:59some of them said they were just going because they were concerned about the
07:04collapse of moral spiritual values in our country
07:06and anti-christ forces taking over
07:08other point of view
07:12starmer actually said they were against british values
07:15values which are based on tolerance and society
07:17tolerance and diversity
07:20i think about that i thought actually
07:23values of this country were not based on
07:26tolerance and diversity
07:27if you look back at the institutions of this country they were based on
07:31christianity
07:32if you look through all of our institutions there's a christian base behind them
07:36obviously the church of england
07:37the monarchy
07:38where the king or the queen is said to be the defender of the faith
07:43and that came to mean the reformed protestant faith
07:46you have the government which had a
07:49can you remember so christianity
07:52our laws which were based on christian principles
07:54many of them
07:55education system which was based on christian principles
07:59i remember when i was at school we used to have
08:01hymns every morning and prayers in the assembly
08:04christian assemblies and christian teaching
08:07was what you assumed it was going to happen
08:09i remember looking at the uh one of the old ladies who used to come to bridge lane
08:14now passed away mrs libbetter
08:16one or two of you might remember her
08:18uh she showed me the gcse or not the o-level
08:22re paper which she had passed when she was in the
08:25i think it must have been in the 1930s
08:27uh religious studies paper
08:30it was all about christianity not a mention of any other religion
08:33it's questions about how you interpret the gospels and all that kind of stuff
08:37so it was assumed that things are going to be christian
08:39and christianity is
08:42tolerant of people
08:44we accept the diversity of all people all races
08:47love all people
08:48but it's not tolerant of certain
08:50ideas and philosophies and practices
08:52it's not tolerant of the lgbt agenda
08:55we say that's wrong it's it's against god's agenda
08:57and it's also not tolerant of the multi-faith agenda
09:01because the multi-faith agenda means you put all religions alongside each other
09:05and you say that they're all equal
09:07bible says they're not all equal
09:09there's one god and one mediator between god and man
09:12jesus christ
09:13and you can't put jesus christ on the same level as muhammad and buddha and all those people
09:18because as far as the bible is concerned they're
09:20following false prophets and idols and things which would take you away from god
09:24so we have a huge problem that diversity and tolerance actually means a lot of tolerance of things which the bible calls evil
09:31and diversity which means that everything has to be expanded into this mishmash of religions
09:37which goes against what the bible says which is that there's one god
09:42and one way to god through jesus christ
09:44and this affects everything
09:49and we see that even
09:50one of the institutions which pushes this most of all is the bbc
09:54and interesting the bbc has a plaque
09:58in the in its center down there in
10:01near regents near oxford circus
10:03which has these words in it
10:06finally brethren whatever things are true whatever things are noble whatever things are just whatever things are pure whatever things are lovely
10:13whatever things are a good report
10:15if there's any virtue if there's anything praiseworthy meditate on these things
10:19that's there in the bbc building
10:21unfortunately it's in latin so i guess most people don't
10:24it's written there in latin in the bbc building so probably most people don't even read it or look at it
10:29but it kind of says that there was a foundation that was supposed to be promoting something from the bible from christianity
10:36what do you see today
10:38anything but christianity being
10:40pushed there
10:41and you see forces which want to replace christianity
10:45as the base of society with a multi-faith all gods are equal idea
10:49alternative moral values affirming sexual immorality homosexuality transsexuality and all that stuff
10:55being pushed upon our children even in schools
10:58and religions which call by the with the bible calls false being put alongside the true faith in jesus as equal
11:07now i'll be bad enough if that was just in society but it's also in the church
11:12the official the professing church
11:15and you see that the church has joined in
11:17the campaign for change
11:19the late archbishop welby
11:21he said publicly on bbc that
11:23he and the bishops of the church of england
11:25have come to a majority position that all sexual activity should be written
11:29should be within a committed relationship
11:31whether it's straight or gay
11:33do you get the drift of what that's saying
11:36all sexual activity should be within a committed relationship
11:41whether it's straight or gay
11:43it doesn't say a married relationship
11:44and it doesn't say solely a relationship between a man and a woman
11:48in other words he's saying that secular intimacy is no longer
11:51limited to marriage
11:53as long as you are committed to each other
11:56god will bless your relationships whatever they are
11:58does that agree with the bible
12:00does it agree with church teaching
12:04no
12:05the church teaches that marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman
12:09it's there in the 39 articles of the church of england
12:12if you look at the 39 articles of the church of england
12:14they're actually basically biblical
12:16you can go along with almost all of them
12:19what about the roman catholic church
12:23pope francis released a video in which he clearly expresses his belief
12:28that all major religions are different paths to the same god
12:31it says that people from various global faiths may be seeking god
12:35or meeting god in different ways
12:36it's important to keep in mind that we're all children of god
12:39there's only one god and each of us has a language to arrive at god
12:44some are Sikh, Muslim, Hindu, Christian
12:46they're different paths to god
12:48do you get the drift of that?
12:51saying that all roads lead to god
12:52it doesn't matter whether you're a Christian or a Hindu or a Buddhist
12:57you can still come to god because that's your path to reach to god
13:00that's the head of the largest denomination of the Christian church
13:05or he was
13:06he's gone to his place now
13:09I won't say which place
13:11but he's
13:12set in motion something which is
13:15anti
13:15the words of the bible
13:17and now we've got
13:21Archbishop of Canterbury
13:23elect
13:24Sarah Mullally
13:25changed not just from male only priests to women
13:31bishops
13:32and archbishops
13:34she's described as a moderniser
13:36she described the moment
13:39eventual decision to finally allow priests to bless same-sex marriages
13:43in 2023
13:44as a moment of hope for the church
13:47GAFCON
13:49which is a group of conservative Anglican churches
13:52criticised Bishop Sarah's appointment
13:54saying it showed the English arm of the church
13:56had relinquished its authority to lead
13:58Bishop Sarah has expressed liberal views on controversial issues
14:03such as abortion
14:04and same-sex relationships
14:07she has repeatedly
14:09promoted unbiblical and revisionist teachings
14:12regarding marriage and sexual morality
14:13they took issue with a woman
14:15CAFCON took issue with a woman being appointed to the role
14:18though there are some who welcome the decision
14:20to appoint Bishop Mulally
14:21as the first female Archbishop of Canterbury
14:23the majority of the Anglican communion
14:25still believes that the Bible requires
14:26a male-only episcopacy
14:28bishopric letters
14:30therefore her appointment will make it impossible
14:32for the Archbishop of Canterbury
14:33to serve as a focus of unity
14:35within the communion
14:36which is true
14:38and basically what you're seeing
14:41is the church is changing Bible teaching
14:43to fit in with modern practice
14:45I found a
14:48I wrote a book
14:49this is about 10 years ago
14:50called Countdown to Calamity
14:52or Hope for the Future
14:54and I found a chapter of it
14:56which deals with this subject
14:58called Christianity Without the Cross
15:04many people have said
15:06this is what I wrote
15:07many people are saying
15:08that we need to move away from the Bible
15:10as the basis for Christian faith
15:11in order to make it fit in with the modern world
15:14this was the aim of the Rethink Conference
15:17a conference of supposed Christians
15:19rethinking Christianity
15:20author Roger Oakland
15:23who attended as a critic of the movement
15:24gave this comment
15:25on what he saw taking place there
15:27Roger Oakland wrote
15:29for nearly 2,000 years
15:31most professing Christians
15:32have seen the Bible
15:33as the foundation for the Christian faith
15:35the overall view of the Rethink Conference
15:38however
15:38is that Christianity as we've known it
15:41has run its course
15:42and must be replaced
15:43speakers insisted
15:44that Christianity must be rethought
15:46and reinvented
15:47if the name of Jesus Christ
15:48is going to survive here
15:50on the planet earth
15:51emerging church leader
15:54Brian McLaren said
15:55you see
15:55if we have a new world
15:56we'll need a new church
15:58the idea is that
16:01in order to reach
16:02the so-called post-modern world
16:03we need to revise
16:04and update Christianity
16:06he says
16:07this will involve
16:08a new set of answers
16:09a different way
16:10of being Christians
16:11do you get the point of that
16:13what he's saying is
16:14the world's changing
16:15we have what they call
16:16a post-modern world
16:17so we've got to adapt the church
16:18and adapt the church's teaching
16:19to fit in with it
16:20the problem is that
16:23we can't
16:24reinvent God
16:25or the salvation
16:27we've received
16:27through the Lord Jesus Christ
16:28the so-called post-modern world
16:31has exactly the same problems
16:32as the pre-modern world had
16:33sin
16:35death
16:36and the activity
16:37of the devil
16:37the only answer to that
16:39is faith
16:40repentance and faith
16:41in the faith
16:44which was once delivered
16:45to the apostles
16:46and recorded in the Bible
16:47in other words
16:48believe the gospel
16:49the gospel doesn't change
16:51the problem of the human race
16:52doesn't change
16:53therefore the message
16:54of the church
16:54doesn't change either
16:55it's not ours to rethink
16:58or to make it acceptable
16:59to the world
17:00if we do
17:02we'll end up like the pagans
17:03making a God
17:03in our own image
17:04he's no God at all
17:05book of Isaiah
17:08it speaks about
17:08a God who cannot save
17:10and people praying
17:12to a God who cannot save
17:13if you make up
17:14your own God
17:15that's what you're doing
17:15you're praying to a God
17:16who cannot save
17:17it may give you some
17:18intellectual or emotional
17:20or spiritual happiness
17:21but if it doesn't give you
17:23salvation
17:23you're wasting your time
17:25because the only point
17:26really in praying to God
17:27is he's going to save you
17:29forgive your sins
17:30and give you eternal life
17:31go on what it says here
17:33for some
17:34the reinvention of Christianity
17:35leads to mysticism
17:36and incorporation of ideas
17:37and practices
17:38which are anti-Christian
17:39as Roger Oakland shows
17:41in his book
17:41Faith Undone
17:42Roger shows how Christians
17:45are accepting all manner
17:46of unbiblical
17:46and even pagan practices
17:48to awaken some kind
17:49of spiritual experiences
17:50in a chapter on
17:52contemplative spirituality
17:53Roger shows how
17:54evangelicals
17:56have been influenced
17:56by Richard Foster's
17:58best-selling book
17:59Celebration of Discipline
18:01which opens the way
18:02to accepting teachings
18:03which contradict
18:04biblical Christianity
18:05Foster commends
18:07the writings of Thomas Merton
18:08on how to find
18:09interior silence
18:10which will bring us to God
18:11Merton was a Trappist monk
18:13who acknowledged
18:14his debt to Zen Buddhism
18:15and Sufi Islam
18:16as well as Catholic mysticism
18:18he wrote
18:20if only people could
18:20see themselves
18:21as they really are
18:22I suppose the big problems
18:23would be that we would
18:24fall down and worship
18:25each other
18:25but the centre of our being
18:27is a point of nothingness
18:28which is untouched by sin
18:30and by illusions
18:31a point of pure truth
18:32this little point
18:34is the pure glory of God
18:35in us
18:35it is in everybody
18:37do you get the point of that?
18:39what he's saying
18:40is that God is in you
18:41and you have to discover
18:42the God who's already
18:43within you
18:44by meditation
18:46by yoga
18:47by all kinds of practices
18:48which will give you
18:49to find out
18:49that you really are
18:50God within you
18:51and there are
18:55lots of people
18:58I would say
18:58even millions of people
19:00certainly millions of people
19:01in the world
19:01who have that idea
19:02and a growing number
19:03of people
19:04in the western world
19:05who have that idea
19:06who practice yoga
19:07to try and find
19:08the God within them
19:09what does the Bible
19:10tell us about
19:11what is within us?
19:13according to the Bible
19:14all human beings
19:16are dead
19:16in trespasses
19:17and sins
19:17in our flesh
19:19there dwells
19:19no good thing
19:20therefore we must
19:22be born again
19:22through repentance
19:23and faith
19:24in the Lord Jesus Christ
19:25who died
19:26for our sins
19:27as a sacrifice
19:28and rose again
19:30from the dead
19:30the idea that we have
19:32God within us
19:33is totally opposed
19:35to the idea
19:36of the Bible
19:36and yet you have people
19:37who are saying
19:38that they are
19:38Christians
19:39or in the church
19:40or in some kind
19:41of meditation
19:41which is moving
19:42them in that direction
19:43see they're changing
19:44the goal posts
19:45in order to fit in
19:46with what's happening
19:46in the world
19:47okay so let's go back
19:49to what it does say
19:50in the Bible
19:50there's a verse
19:53in one of the hymns
19:54which we sing
19:54change and decay
19:56in all around I see
19:57O thou that
19:58changest not
19:59abide with me
20:00and when we come
20:02to the Bible
20:02we find that God
20:03does not change
20:04we've already read
20:06these verses
20:07let's read them again
20:07Malachi chapter
20:093 verse 6
20:11I am the Lord
20:11I do not change
20:12therefore you
20:13are not consumed
20:15O sons of Jacob
20:16Hebrews chapter
20:1813 verse 8
20:19Jesus Christ
20:20is the same
20:21yesterday
20:22today
20:22and forever
20:23God doesn't change
20:25and we're called
20:27to believe
20:28in the same
20:29unchanging
20:29message of God
20:31which comes
20:31through the gospel
20:32in the book of Acts
20:36chapter 2
20:37verse 42
20:38says they continued
20:40steadfastly
20:41in the apostles
20:41doctrine and fellowship
20:42in the breaking
20:43of bread
20:44and in prayers
20:46and in prayers
20:46and in 2 Timothy
20:49chapter 3
20:49says all scripture
20:51is given by inspiration
20:52of God
20:53and is profitable
20:54for doctrine
20:54for reproof
20:55for correction
20:56for instruction
20:57in righteousness
20:57that the man of God
20:58may be complete
20:59thoroughly equipped
21:00for every good work
21:02and finally
21:04in the book of Revelation
21:05it says
21:06I testify to everyone
21:07who hears the words
21:08of this prophecy
21:09of this book
21:09if anyone adds
21:10to these things
21:10God will add to him
21:11the plagues
21:12that are written
21:13in this book
21:13if anyone takes away
21:14from the words
21:15of this book
21:15of this prophecy
21:16God will take away
21:17his part
21:18from the book of life
21:19from the holy city
21:20and from the things
21:21which are written
21:22in this book
21:23and we're going to look
21:27at all these scriptures
21:27just one final scripture
21:28in the book of Jude
21:30verse 3
21:32it says
21:34beloved
21:34while I was very diligent
21:35to write to you
21:36concerning our common salvation
21:37I found it necessary
21:38to write to you
21:39exhorting you
21:40to tend earnestly
21:42for the faith
21:43which was once delivered
21:44once for all
21:46delivered to the saints
21:47for certain men
21:48have crept in unnoticed
21:49who long ago
21:49were marked out
21:50for this condemnation
21:51ungodly men
21:52who turn the grace
21:53of our Lord
21:53of God
21:54into heart lewdness
21:55and deny the only Lord God
21:57and our Lord Jesus Christ
21:58okay let's have a look
22:01at those verses
22:02the Malachi verse
22:03I am the Lord
22:05I do not change
22:06God's nature
22:08is unchanging
22:09he exists
22:09from eternity
22:10to eternity
22:11outside of our time
22:12and space
22:13we can't understand him
22:15because we are limited
22:16in time and space
22:17we have to believe
22:18by faith
22:19that there is a God
22:20who has always existed
22:21who exists now
22:22and always will exist
22:24goes beyond
22:26our understanding
22:27actually to
22:27understand how
22:28such a being can be
22:29but he is
22:30that's what the Bible
22:31tells us God is
22:32he's unchanging
22:33he's always been there
22:34the Bible tells us
22:36he also exists
22:36in the form of
22:37three persons in one
22:38father, son
22:39and holy spirit
22:40without beginning
22:41without ending
22:42tells us he's holy
22:44and separate from sinners
22:45yet he relates to human beings
22:47because he loves the world
22:48and he loved the world
22:50so much he sent Jesus
22:51into the world
22:51to redeem us
22:52he's also set
22:55through that
22:56he's set in a motion
22:56a way in which
22:58we can relate to him
22:59in the Old Testament
23:00it was through the Torah
23:01the priesthood
23:02and the sacrifices
23:03which
23:04in the book of Jeremiah
23:05he says
23:06is going to be replaced
23:07by the new covenant
23:08which would come
23:09through the Messiah
23:10Yeshua
23:11or Jesus
23:11in Jeremiah
23:13there's going to be
23:17a new covenant
23:18because
23:19we broke God's covenant
23:20or Israel broke
23:21God's covenant
23:22with Moses
23:23and we need to have
23:24a new covenant
23:25through which we can be
23:26reconciled to God
23:27and which the covenant
23:28can be spread out
23:29not just to Israel
23:31but also to
23:32the whole world
23:33and still including
23:35Israel
23:36because God
23:36still loves Israel
23:37and wants to bring them
23:38into the new covenant
23:39and this verse
23:42in Malachi
23:42actually does
23:43contain a clause
23:43which relates to Israel
23:45it says
23:45I the Lord
23:46change not
23:47therefore you
23:47sons of Jacob
23:48are not consumed
23:49saying that
23:52because God is God
23:53and he has chosen Israel
23:54he's going to keep them
23:55as a people
23:55they're going to remain
23:56a people before the Lord
23:57even in unbelief
23:59God has kept the Jewish people
24:00as an identifiable unit
24:01and brought them back
24:02to the land of Israel
24:03for purposes
24:04which are yet to be revealed
24:05in the coming of Yeshua
24:07Jesus the Messiah
24:08so let's move on
24:14to Hebrews
24:15it says
24:16Jesus is the same
24:17yesterday
24:17today and forever
24:18so again
24:21we're talking about
24:21who Jesus is
24:22I did a couple of
24:23studies recently
24:24on the nature of Jesus
24:25as the son of God
24:26son of man
24:27and that we saw
24:29that Jesus is much more
24:30than a prophet
24:30he's much more
24:31than a great man
24:32or a great moral teacher
24:33he's God
24:34Emmanuel
24:34become man
24:35to dwell amongst us
24:36and reveal to us
24:37the way to God
24:38he also is pre-existent
24:40he's existed from eternity
24:42to eternity
24:42John 1 says
24:44in the beginning
24:45was the word
24:48and the word was with God
24:49and the word was God
24:50and all things were created
24:52through him
24:52and the word was made flesh
24:54and dwelt amongst us
24:55so he's saying that
24:55God has existed
24:56from eternity
24:57to eternity
24:57and in the person of Jesus
24:59he has always existed
25:00and he had been made flesh
25:01and dwelt among us
25:02he says
25:06before Abraham
25:07was I am
25:08he came from heaven
25:09to earth
25:10to lift us up
25:11out of our sin
25:12to give us eternal life
25:13Revelation tells us
25:15he's the Lamb of God
25:16slain from the foundation
25:17of the world
25:17otherwise even the crucifixion
25:19was known to God
25:20before it happened
25:21from eternity
25:22to eternity
25:23and he's the unique saviour
25:25he's the only way to God
25:26he's the only one
25:27who can remove
25:28the barrier of sin
25:28which separates us
25:29from God
25:30and bring us
25:30into a relationship
25:31with God
25:32Revelation also tells us
25:34in chapter 5
25:35that he's worshipped
25:36in heaven
25:36as alongside
25:40with God the Father
25:41so we see in Revelation 5
25:43that Jesus is worshipped
25:44in heaven
25:45as God
25:45so you have Jesus
25:47the same
25:48yesterday
25:49today
25:49and forever
25:49he doesn't change
25:50and 1 John 2
25:53actually tells us
25:53that any attempt
25:54to change
25:55the nature of Jesus
25:56is of the spirit
25:57of Antichrist
25:57if you change
25:59his relationship
26:00between the Father
26:01and the Son
26:01that means you are
26:02working under
26:03the spirit of Antichrist
26:04what did Islam do?
26:08change the relationship
26:09between the Father
26:10and the Son
26:10it says that Jesus
26:11is just a prophet
26:11and it puts a curse
26:13actually on anyone
26:14who believes
26:14that Jesus
26:14is the Son of God
26:16spirit of Antichrist
26:18changing
26:19the nature
26:20of the Lord Jesus
26:21you also have
26:23liberal theology
26:24that Jehovah's Witnesses
26:26new age
26:26Jesus
26:27and Jesus himself
26:29warned us
26:29that false Christ
26:30and false prophets
26:31would come
26:31so we have to come
26:34back to the original
26:35in Jesus
26:37the Messiah
26:38and back to the
26:41apostles doctrine
26:41which brings us
26:42to the next point
26:43they continue
26:44steadfastly
26:45in the apostles doctrine
26:46and in fellowship
26:48and prayers
26:48and breaking bread
26:49and the call
26:51to the church
26:52is to continue
26:52in these things
26:53not to deviate them
26:55not to change them
26:56by the time
26:58of the death
26:59of the last apostle
26:59who was the apostle John
27:00the last book of the Bible
27:02was written
27:03the book of Revelation
27:04and once the book
27:06of the Bible
27:06was written
27:07that is the summation
27:08that's the fullness
27:10of all the teaching
27:11of God
27:11which is going to be
27:12given to us
27:12he's not going to give
27:13any fresh revelations
27:14may give fresh understanding
27:16of things which are written
27:17in the Bible
27:17but he won't give
27:18any new revelations
27:20there'll be no book
27:20of Mormon
27:21there'll be no Quran
27:22there'll be no things
27:23added to what is written
27:25in the Bible
27:25very important
27:27that we understand that
27:28and in the New Testament
27:30you'll find all the doctrines
27:32of the church are fixed
27:33they're not to be changed
27:36they may not be changed
27:37and as we've already heard
27:40when Chris was praying
27:42as well
27:42and as we've read
27:44all scripture is inspired
27:46by God
27:46and given by God
27:47for inspiration
27:48for training
27:50in righteousness
27:51for teaching
27:51it's inspired by God
27:54it means it's God breathed
27:55it means God put his word
27:56into the scriptures
27:57literally
27:58through the writings
28:00of various writings
28:01in the Old Testament
28:02and in the New Testament
28:03the Old Testament
28:06is as much
28:07the word of God
28:08as the New Testament
28:08the Tanakh
28:10the Hebrew prophets
28:11they point forward
28:13to the New Testament
28:14but they reveal
28:15the human origins
28:17problem of sin
28:19God's dealing with
28:20his chosen people
28:21the ups and downs
28:23and the good and the bad
28:23but in all these things
28:24God is shaping his people
28:26in the purposes
28:27which he wants to
28:27give to us
28:29and he reveals to us
28:29things about
28:30how God relates to people
28:31through these stories
28:32in the Old Testament
28:33also gives an answer
28:36to the issues
28:37of sin and salvation
28:39pointing to the
28:41commandments of the Torah
28:42the biblical sacrifices
28:44which as Chris
28:46has already told to us
28:46look forward to the
28:47coming of the Messiah
28:48Yeshua as the final
28:50sacrifice for sin
28:51and the coming
28:52of the new covenant
28:53when we come to
28:54the New Testament
28:55we have clear revelation
28:57that there is one God
28:58and one mediator
28:59between God and humanity
29:00Jesus Christ
29:01read through the New Testament
29:03you have the Gospels
29:04which give you the life
29:04and teaching of the Lord Jesus
29:06his death and resurrection
29:07read through the book of Acts
29:09how the message spread
29:10how the church was born
29:11through the preaching
29:12of the apostles
29:13through the work
29:13of the Holy Spirit
29:14read through the epistles
29:16they tell you how to
29:17apply the message
29:18to our personal lives
29:19and to the church life
29:21you read the book
29:22of Revelation
29:22it gives the revelation
29:23of the Lord Jesus
29:24in glory
29:25and details
29:26of the second coming
29:27all of this
29:29is profitable
29:30for teaching
29:30it's all inspired
29:31by God
29:32it's not to be added to
29:34not to be taken away from
29:35Islam
29:38book of Mormon
29:39Jehovah's Witnesses
29:40Watchtower magazine
29:41all add or take away
29:43from the Bible
29:44all are of the spirit
29:46of Antichrist
29:46and are not profitable
29:48for teaching
29:49as is liberal theology
29:53and one of the big
29:54reasons why the church
29:56accepts all these things
29:58which are wrong
29:58is because of the influence
29:59of liberal theology
30:00which denies the inspiration
30:02of the word of God
30:03denies the miraculous elements
30:04denies the creation of God
30:06denies
30:07even sometimes
30:08denies the resurrection
30:08of Jesus
30:09once you get that
30:11into the church
30:11then it means
30:12that it's kind of
30:12a death warrant
30:13for authentic Christianity
30:15because it has to be
30:16based upon the fact
30:17that the Bible
30:18is the word of God
30:19now there are difficulties
30:20interpreting the Bible
30:21I don't doubt that
30:23there are things
30:23which we don't understand
30:24things which are
30:25difficult to understand
30:26but as the American author
30:29Mark Twain once said
30:30it's not the things
30:30in the Bible
30:31I don't understand
30:32that bother me
30:32it's the things
30:33that I do understand
30:33because the things
30:36that we do understand
30:37are pretty clear
30:37tell us that if we
30:39don't repent
30:41and if we don't go
30:41God's way
30:42then we're ending up
30:42in a place
30:43which is lost for eternity
30:45which we call hell
30:46and nobody wants to go there
30:47well
30:48if they're in their right mind
30:50they don't want to go there
30:50so there are all sorts of things
30:52which people don't want to know
30:53but they're very clear
30:55and they can be understood
30:56quite clearly
30:56you can debate about
30:58what Daniel 9's
31:00prophecy means
31:01which is difficult to understand
31:03which I'll be talking about
31:04tonight
31:04and it is difficult to understand
31:06but it's not impossible
31:07to understand
31:08and there are things
31:09which are difficult
31:10which people have to struggle with
31:11there are answers to all of them
31:13if you dig deep enough
31:14but the bottom line
31:16is that the Bible
31:16is the word of God
31:17it's not to be changed
31:18not to be changed
31:20by the church
31:20certainly
31:21and it is true
31:23and when you come to this
31:25last chapter of Revelation
31:26which it says
31:28don't add to the book
31:29don't take away from it
31:30it does apply to the
31:32book of Revelation
31:33but it also applies
31:34to the whole of the Bible
31:35believe it
31:37and act upon it
31:37worship the one true God
31:39the maker of heaven and earth
31:40the redeemer
31:41Jesus Christ
31:43who brings us to God
31:44through his unique sacrifice
31:45for our sins
31:46who loves us
31:47and offers us
31:48forgiveness of sin
31:49a relationship with God
31:50and eternal life
31:51okay let's look at our final quote
31:55the one from the book of Jude
31:57just read it again
32:01sorry verse 3
32:02beloved
32:03beloved
32:03while I was
32:04very diligent
32:04to write to you
32:05concerning our common salvation
32:06I found it necessary
32:07to write to you
32:09exhorting you
32:09to contend earnestly
32:10for the faith
32:11which was once and for all
32:13delivered to the saints
32:14for certain men
32:16have crept in unnoticed
32:17who long ago
32:17were marked out
32:18for this condemnation
32:19ungodly men
32:20who turn the grace of God
32:21into lewdness
32:22and deny the only Lord God
32:24and our Lord Jesus Christ
32:26so he's writing about
32:28our common salvation
32:30and he's writing about
32:32the faith
32:32which was once for all
32:34delivered to the saints
32:35this is one of the later books
32:37of the Bible
32:38written probably
32:39towards the
32:41maybe towards the end
32:42of the first century
32:42we don't know
32:43but it's not one of the early books
32:45of the Bible
32:46he's saying that
32:46it's already been delivered to you
32:47and you have to contend
32:50for this faith
32:50which was once for all
32:52delivered to the saints
32:53and it's very strong there
32:54it says once for all
32:55see what that means
32:56that means that
32:56it's the final word
32:58that has been given
32:58in this word
33:00given to us
33:01in the Bible
33:02you have to contend
33:04for the apostles doctrine
33:06which is the doctrine
33:09which the apostles
33:09of Jesus
33:10have given to us
33:11which is not going
33:11to be changed
33:12and one of the big things
33:14which has happened
33:15which I've tried to illustrate
33:17to you in this talk
33:18is that people
33:19have consistently
33:19tried to change
33:20the apostles doctrine
33:22but very early on
33:24it began to happen
33:25and you can see
33:27the emergence
33:27of what became
33:28Roman Catholicism
33:28was changing
33:29a whole lot of things
33:30in the apostles doctrine
33:31and substituting them
33:32for the words of men
33:33and even the
33:35Protestant Reformation
33:35recovered much of it
33:36but still then
33:37added things
33:38and took things away
33:39from the apostles doctrine
33:41it happens all the time
33:42and it's happening
33:44in a big way
33:44in our time
33:45that's why we
33:46as believers today
33:47have to contend
33:48for the original faith
33:49once delivered to us
33:51through the apostles
33:52of Jesus Christ
33:54which doesn't change
33:55and he warns
34:01that apostates
34:02are going to come in
34:03people who are going
34:04to change
34:05the word of God
34:06he says
34:07turn the grace of God
34:08into lewdness
34:09that's an interesting
34:11phrase there
34:11what's the grace of God
34:14the grace of God
34:14is God's love
34:15for humanity
34:15the undeserved gift
34:17which we have
34:18through faith in Jesus
34:19in Ephesians chapter 2
34:21it says
34:22by grace you have been
34:23saved through faith
34:24that not of yourselves
34:24it is the gift of God
34:25not of works
34:26this anyone should boast
34:28if you are a true
34:31born again Christian
34:31you have received
34:32the grace of God
34:33for salvation
34:34means that you accepted
34:36Jesus into your life
34:37as a result of that
34:38your sins are forgiven
34:39you become a child of God
34:40and you have an eternal hope
34:42in God
34:43for salvation
34:45for eternity
34:46the grace of God
34:48grace means
34:50undeserved favour
34:51grace of God
34:53for salvation
34:54now if people turn
34:56the grace of God
34:56into lewdness
34:57what does he mean
34:58let's think about
34:58what does it mean
34:59a lot of people say
35:00well God loves us
35:01he gives us his grace
35:02so you're going to
35:03accept us whatever we do
35:05no no
35:07it's free
35:09it's a free gift
35:10but it's not cheap
35:12cost the Lord Jesus
35:14his blood
35:14precious blood
35:15to obtain it for us
35:16and the condition
35:18of our receiving it
35:18is not good works
35:20we do
35:21but faith
35:22in what he has done
35:22for us
35:23and faith involves
35:25repentance and faith
35:26in Jesus Christ
35:28and believing
35:29the gospel
35:30first message of Jesus
35:34was
35:34the time is fulfilled
35:35the kingdom of God
35:36is at hand
35:36repent
35:37and believe the gospel
35:38two things
35:41you've got to do there
35:41you've got to repent
35:42turn from your sins
35:43and believe the gospel
35:44believe what
35:44the gospel says
35:45it's true
35:46that Christ died
35:46for our sins
35:47was buried
35:47and rose again
35:48from the dead
35:49it's not difficult
35:51to understand that
35:52is it
35:52difficult to do
35:54for many people
35:55but
35:56very simply
35:57that is what
35:57we have to do
35:58now if you don't
36:00do that
36:00if you continue
36:01in your sins
36:02and the
36:03example I gave to you
36:04from the church
36:05of England there
36:05is saying that
36:06you can continue
36:06in your sins
36:07continue to practice
36:09the example
36:10he gave there
36:11was sexual immorality
36:12and homosexual practice
36:13and God's going to
36:14accept you
36:14because of his grace
36:15that's actually
36:17turning the grace
36:17of God
36:17into lewdness
36:18exactly what
36:19Jude says here
36:21is going to be
36:22the danger
36:22for the church
36:23you change the grace
36:24of God
36:25God's undeserved
36:26favour towards humanity
36:27and you say
36:27well that means
36:27God accepts you
36:28whatever you do
36:29God loves you
36:30so you can carry on
36:31sinning
36:32Bible doesn't say that
36:33it says you have to
36:34repent and believe
36:35you have to turn
36:36from your sins
36:37you have to live
36:37a new life
36:38it doesn't mean
36:39you'll never do
36:39anything wrong
36:40obviously we all
36:41have a fallen nature
36:43and we're still
36:43all going to fail
36:44at times
36:45but if we do that
36:45again we just
36:46come to the Lord
36:47confess our sins
36:48and believe
36:49through faith in him
36:50that we have forgiveness
36:51but we're not going to
36:53habitually carry on
36:54for example
36:55if we are in a
36:56sexual relationship
36:59outside of marriage
36:59and you become a Christian
37:00then you have a duty
37:02to break off
37:03that relationship
37:04and if you want to
37:06continue with it
37:06then to
37:07get married properly
37:08then you can continue
37:10with a sexual relationship
37:11but you can't continue
37:13in that relationship
37:13as a Christian
37:14and we can't change
37:16the goal post
37:17to fit in with
37:18the habits of today
37:19which is what
37:20Brian McCollum
37:21was saying in the same
37:22word which I gave you
37:23earlier
37:23saying you know
37:24the world has changed
37:25now
37:25society accepts
37:27homosexual practice
37:28so the church
37:29has got to accept it
37:30and just move on
37:31and forget all these
37:32passages in the Bible
37:33which say it's not right
37:34the Bible says no
37:36it's not
37:36we've got to
37:37change what God says
37:38we've got to
37:39change ourselves
37:40to what God says
37:41so that we put
37:41things right
37:42in his way
37:43God does love us
37:45he loves us
37:45unconditionally
37:46but he doesn't
37:47love the things
37:48that we do
37:48and if you want to
37:50have a relationship
37:50with God
37:51then we have to
37:52accept his conditions
37:53which are that we
37:54repent and believe
37:54the gospel
37:55he doesn't change
37:57his mind
37:58to fit in with
37:58the fads and
37:59desires of modern
37:59philosophies and
38:00lifestyles
38:01he tells us
38:02to change our minds
38:03to fit in with
38:04his unchanging
38:05moral laws
38:06modern church leaders
38:08can say what they like
38:09they can try to be
38:10fashionable and
38:11carry favour with
38:12those who follow
38:12the shifting values
38:13of our time
38:14but unless they teach
38:15what God says
38:16in the Bible
38:17they will lose up
38:18and they'll lead
38:19people to hell
38:19not to heaven
38:20Jesus says to
38:22such church leaders
38:23what he said
38:24to the Pharisees
38:25he says
38:25woe to you
38:26scribes and Pharisees
38:27hypocrites
38:27you shut up
38:28the kingdom of heaven
38:29against men
38:29you neither go
38:31in yourselves
38:31nor do you allow
38:32others
38:33those who are
38:33entering
38:34to go in
38:35similarly
38:37those who say
38:39that God
38:39accepts all
38:39forms of religion
38:40are denying
38:44going back to
38:45Jude here
38:45it says
38:46they deny
38:46the Lord God
38:47the only Lord God
38:49and our Lord
38:49Jesus Christ
38:50if you say
38:52what Pope Francis
38:52said that all
38:53religions lead to
38:54God
38:54you're doing
38:55exactly what
38:56Jude says here
38:57can you see that
38:58you're denying
38:59you're denying
38:59the only Lord God
39:01and our Lord
39:02Jesus Christ
39:03because God
39:04says
39:04there's one God
39:05and one mediator
39:06between God
39:06and man
39:07Jesus Christ
39:08Jesus said
39:09I'm the way
39:09the truth
39:09and the life
39:10no one comes
39:10to the Father
39:11except by me
39:12you can be a
39:14pious Muslim
39:14or a pious Hindu
39:15you can do all the
39:16things you're supposed
39:17to do
39:17but you won't
39:18come to God
39:18unless you come
39:19through Jesus
39:19now people say
39:21that's very intolerant
39:22and very dogmatic
39:23to say that
39:24but we can't
39:25change the goalpost
39:26to fit in with the
39:27fads of modern society
39:28society has to
39:29change to fit in
39:30with what God
39:31says
39:31it's as simple
39:33as that
39:33and therefore
39:35we don't change
39:36the gospel
39:37to fit in with
39:38what the world
39:38says today
39:39if we do that
39:41then we lose
39:42the gospel
39:42God doesn't
39:48change his mind
39:48there's one God
39:50one way of salvation
39:51through Jesus Christ
39:52believe it
39:54and be saved
39:55have your sins
39:56forgiven
39:56be reconciled
39:57to God
39:58have eternal
39:59life
39:59in the world
40:01to come
40:01and know God
40:02is with you
40:03in this world
40:03reject it
40:05and be lost
40:06have eternal
40:08separation
40:08from God
40:09and eternal
40:10punishment
40:10in hell
40:11again that's not
40:13difficult to
40:13understand
40:14and to my
40:17mind it's
40:18obvious what
40:20you have to do
40:20unfortunately you
40:22go out and share
40:22the gospel with
40:23people
40:23it's pretty hard
40:25for people to
40:26understand it
40:26and they've
40:27got all kinds
40:28of objections
40:28and all kinds
40:29of barriers
40:29but in the end
40:30we have to pray
40:31that God
40:31will get this
40:32message out
40:32and I believe
40:33that in the
40:34days we're
40:34living in
40:34more and more
40:35people are
40:36going to be
40:36open
40:36because they're
40:37going to see
40:37that all these
40:38other things I
40:39talked about
40:40changing just
40:40don't work
40:41they don't
40:42change things
40:43for better
40:43they change
40:43things for
40:44worse
40:44our society
40:45is not
40:45getting better
40:46with all the
40:46diversity and
40:48multi-faith it's
40:48getting worse
40:49and more
40:49confused and
40:50more diverse
40:51and odds with
40:53each other
40:54the church is
40:55not getting
40:56better by
40:56accepting all the
40:57things of the
40:58world into it
40:58it's getting
40:59worse and into
40:59more and more
41:00confusion
41:00and has nothing
41:02really to say
41:03that is of any
41:03help to people
41:06in this world
41:06if we stay
41:08close to what
41:08the Bible says
41:09we have something
41:09which is true
41:10and it's also
41:12helpful to any
41:13people in need
41:14so if you are
41:15in need if you
41:15feel that you
41:16are separated
41:17from God and
41:18you want to get
41:18to know God
41:18there's a simple
41:20answer believe in
41:20Jesus and we
41:22help you to do
41:23that if you have
41:24problems in your
41:25life you can bring
41:26them to the Lord
41:26and know that God
41:27will be able to
41:27meet you at your
41:28point of need
41:29because he cares
41:30for you and he
41:31cares for me
41:31we have to come
41:33on his terms
41:34not on ours
41:34and I think that's
41:35basically what I
41:36see as the
41:36problem
41:37people today say
41:38well I'll come
41:39on my terms
41:40to God
41:40God says no
41:41you won't
41:41I set the
41:43rules
41:43there's only one
41:45way you can
41:45come to me
41:45that's through
41:46Jesus Christ
41:46that's through
41:47repenting and
41:48believing the
41:49gospel
41:49that's through
41:50following Jesus
41:50I'm not going
41:52to change it
41:53to fit in
41:53with your
41:53ideas
41:54I'm not going
41:54to change it
41:55to fit in
41:55with your
41:56ideas of
41:57multiculturalism
41:58and diversity
41:58and all this
41:59stuff
41:59I don't accept
42:01that God
42:02says
42:02I the Lord
42:04don't change
42:05if you don't
42:06want to be
42:06consumed
42:07then believe
42:08on the Lord
42:09Jesus Christ
42:09and be saved
42:10last verse
42:13from the book
42:14of Acts
42:14chapter 17
42:15verse 31
42:17says truly the
42:18times of
42:18ignorance God
42:19overlooked
42:19but God
42:20now commands
42:21all people
42:22everywhere to
42:23repent
42:23because he's
42:25appointed today
42:25on which he
42:25will judge the
42:26world in
42:27righteousness
42:27by the man
42:28whom he has
42:29ordained
42:29he's given
42:30assurance of
42:31this to all
42:32by raising
42:32him from
42:33the dead
42:33notice God
42:35doesn't suggest
42:36it's a good
42:36idea if you
42:37repent
42:37he commands
42:38all people
42:38everywhere to
42:39repent
42:39doesn't suggest
42:41it's okay for
42:41some people
42:42but not for
42:42others
42:42he says all
42:44people
42:44everywhere
42:45gospel messages
42:47for everybody
42:48whatever you're
42:49born into
42:49wherever you
42:50come from
42:50whatever your
42:51background is
42:52there's one
42:53God
42:53one mediator
42:54between God
42:55and man
42:55Jesus Christ
42:56believe on the
42:57Lord Jesus
42:58Christ
42:58and you shall
42:59be saved
42:59amen
43:00let's just

43:10that in
43:11this changing
43:12world
43:12you offer

43:13the rock
43:14of salvation
43:15and the
43:16security
43:17of knowing

43:22that you have
43:22paid the price
43:23for our sin
43:24when you died
43:25on the cross
43:26and took the
43:26punishment that
43:27we deserve
43:27that we might
43:29be forgiven
43:29and receive
43:30eternal life
