00:00:00that he must have had i imagine his clavicles are absolutely killing him uh because uh it was almost
00:00:05like he hit a brick wall there uh but uh came in they checked the tires safe enough and away he went
00:00:11amazing example of exactly how you've got to do this roll board with the e-tron here let's try
00:00:15and pick up a little bit of that sound as they come into braking uh not in a zone just for now
00:00:21they'll get to one at the end of this liz yes they will yeah they'll be on their way down to the
00:00:26porsche curves i believe coming out of our nudge no you have to wait for that again not a heavy
00:00:32braking zone for them in the porsche curves but it is it is nonetheless um the hybrid zone
00:00:38where they can collect energy incidentally and then add that to their uh electrical flywheel and use
00:00:44that energy to turn the car into a four-wheel driver and we've seen look at how fast he is
00:00:50oh that's so fast in the porsche curve suddenly just picks up four-wheel drive and uh they're
00:00:56totally flat and quick out of this we were talking about it in qualifying it appears that the the uh
00:01:02the onboard pictures have actually been speeded up oh no it's just there you go you'll see here look at
00:01:07this this looks like one of these uh old-time movies where they just right make everything
00:01:12uh 120 k's bang away they go so strong through the porsche curves just unbelievable grip and remember
00:01:19the advantage of this car over its sister ultra car it's got a lot more weight on the front wheels
00:01:24it's got more front wheel grip yeah that's the only difference between those cars remember they're
00:01:28the same car except for the hybrid technology in one of them now we're enjoying ourselves here and uh
00:01:34know by the amount of twitter traffic that you guys are too we'll do our best to get through you
00:01:38and now don't forget we've got the apple nightclub tonight uh we're not cutting away from the lamont 24
00:01:44hours uh i'm hearing that uh there may well be some switches between uh british and british too so um
00:01:51yes uh if you do lose pictures then uh you will know where to find us uh we're staying on here
00:01:58uh johnny kane coming up uh who's been on board the 21 car and uh going well i love the fact they've
00:02:04got that dirty great big union jack uh upon the back um ben marshall said what's the advantage of a
00:02:11flywheel over a capacitor and vice versa mark well um we know that the capacitor comes in in a in an
00:02:18enormous punch uh we described it as uh something like a flashlight warming up and then going bang
00:02:24should we address that after this yeah yes i think we'll come back after the interview definitely
00:02:29mark will fill you in you just get out of the car um what's the race plan now after you lost so many
00:02:36time with the technical problem with the gearbox program well to be honest the race plan doesn't
00:02:40change much we just still have to try and go as fast as possible hopefully we'll make up some time but
00:02:46it seemed like the car was good i was able to set some very good times for petrol privateer i think we
00:02:53were pretty much the quickest car out there in that in that class so only really the factory car is
00:02:58quicker than us um so it's just a shame that we had a problem the car's been so good all week um you
00:03:04know the boys do a fantastic job and you know just one of those unfortunate things that you have an
00:03:08oil leak in the gearbox just before the race um but with what what can you hope for now it's a 24-hour
00:03:16race you're five six laps down so uh how is the mindset now well to be honest anything can happen to
00:03:22anybody um you know we've lost six laps at the start but someone can easily lose six laps later
00:03:26on so we just have to keep our heads down and drive as fast as we can i'm sure the car will be good
00:03:33uh from now on and uh fingers crossed well i don't want to wish bad luck on other people but
00:03:39we've had ours so maybe some other people have theirs too okay thank you very much cheers
00:03:44yeah carlton uh your question just before the that interview johnny kane about the difference between
00:03:50hybrid systems the audi has a flywheel which runs at 78 000 rpm so it's more controllable they can
00:03:56release that at 120 k's under the regulations whereas the toyota one as you say it's just one burst
00:04:02like a flashlight bulb going off bang and it's all over so that's the main difference there but we're
00:04:07going to take a break now we'll be back in a minute and with a lot more ask us more we'll give you a lot more
00:04:11answers welcome back and the two car is uh as you join us uh these are us catching first side of this
00:04:27as well is uh being pushed back into the garage here mark sorry yeah the number two car that's
00:04:33a big blow isn't it tom christensen's car this is not scheduled been wheeled in and uh this normally
00:04:40only happens uh when you need to have more people working on the car than allowed in the pit lane
00:04:45liz yeah no of course because now if the rules are you can only have two people working on the car in
00:04:49pit lane at one time that is why the tire changes take longer so the minute there's any sort of problem
00:04:54that they need to have a look at or take the back of the deck off that's the first thing they'll do
00:04:59is push the cars into the garage we don't really know any more than you do at home right now but as
00:05:03soon as we do we will let you know this car is the one that had trouble last year of course they'd
00:05:08already had a problem and then alan mcnish was making up time when they had that massive crash so
00:05:13this is a big blow for the number two car yeah the three car here it is uh let's see if the transponder
00:05:19lights are working shall we it is now in p2 uh so according to that it's light stacks which
00:05:24sit just at the side of the illuminated numbers so you won't see that until the night time obviously
00:05:30but you will see the position stack and it should have two lights showing it's in second place at the
00:05:34moment uh trullier is in the lead car the number one car at the moment and uh yet again just picking
00:05:41its way through the gt's it seems that hostilities for the time being at least have been uh settled
00:05:47slightly there is uh the lead gt car the gt pro car with bruni in the ferrari just behind uh the aston
00:05:55came in for a uh fuel only stop not that long ago and just while we're watching all of this exciting
00:06:00passing we've had so many cars sometimes three next to each other on the circuit and we've got a
00:06:06question on twitter from wild man in fact my name uh what is the passing etiquette with so many fast and
00:06:11slow moving cars well the answer to that is it is the faster cars uh that's it's meant for the
00:06:18faster car to pass safely it is on their owners to pass the slower cars safely and that's what they
00:06:24tell us in all of the driver briefings although i will say that you know with professional drivers
00:06:29you expect the slower car to recognize that you're there to use the mirrors and it makes a big difference
00:06:34and this year however there's been an extra thing added in the drivers meeting at le mans saying
00:06:38they are encouraging everybody to use indicators this year and that's the first time that's ever
00:06:43been brought in and most of the drivers are thinking that's a brilliant idea and i i have to
00:06:47agree with that yeah i'm sure that's coming off the back of mike rockenfeller's accident last year
00:06:51i think so and previously indicators were actually used as um i don't know almost a way of displaying
00:06:56anger it was part of the get out of the way i'm coming by i want to overtake you uh now they're
00:07:00saying look it's a safety issue let's all get involved and not get upset if people actually use them
00:07:05the one car uh making a smooth enough stop that's uh for the time being the only audi hybrid that's
00:07:11out on the track now audi themselves for the time being are remaining tight-lipped as to what the
00:07:16problem is with the two car either tight-lipped or they're still investigating what it is and don't
00:07:21want to be speaking to wasp-like journalists who are hanging around just uh waiting to get a sting story
00:07:28he's come back out so clearly not as serious as we thought i'm sure the good doctor will be uh having a
00:07:33word with adelaide uh before you know it and are they going to be getting away they are smooth as
00:07:39silk it looks like mark yeah they'd already refueled the car before it got to wheeled in
00:07:43that's the standard practice here we go side by side going out of the garage and over give way to
00:07:48the audi no point trying to delay him it's much faster car isn't it but that car now has dropped
00:07:52down to sixth place as it returns from the pit so toyota are now three and four as the race starts to
00:07:59come back to mcgain who's going to have the more trouble that's what's going to win this race
00:08:02absolutely it seems that way uh toyota didn't do the silly thing at the beginning of this race they
00:08:07did not try and take a lap lead they did not try and do one hair and one tortoise that was another
00:08:13strategy that a lot of people speculated about as the 74 corvette comes in by the way uh yeah they
00:08:18speculated about that and as it got a yellow flag at position 96 we're hearing uh gravel uh the 75 car is
00:08:26in it it's stuck in that competition car that is yeah well he uh he's not moving at the moment uh
00:08:32we'll see if he managed to extricate himself from that so here we are you're live at le mans 21 hours
00:08:40or so remaining of uh our live coverage here and uh yes uh one of our one of our old friends andy
00:08:48gibson reminding us well you do take commercial breaks so it's not actually 24 hours if you'd like
00:08:54to respond he's um he's one of our uh he does like to clip our ankles occasionally to desire andy andy
00:08:59what about the 10 hours we've already done wednesday and thursday night and the two hours we did this
00:09:02morning come on give us a break
00:09:03uh thanks for all of your comments uh it's always good to keep in touch with uh the naysayers as well
00:09:14as the fans uh and we will be throughout the night don't forget now when things quieten down a little
00:09:20bit and we've got uh flaring headlights and some of the cameras are locked off on some parts of the
00:09:25circuit uh then the apple nightclub will be here chris parsons and neville hay uh will enjoy their
00:09:30company uh myself carlton kirby will also be on board uh through the night and that's when we
00:09:35get really chatty and have uh and and and the the mood kind of lightens becomes more jazz club you
00:09:41might say yeah by by necessity oh you're going to say jazz hands from there i was getting a little
00:09:45bit worried yeah neville's really warming up for the graveyard shift he said he's already been out
00:09:49bought the garlic bought the wooden stake and he's got a cross so uh lovely there you are you get the
00:09:55idea yeah exactly a lot of you asking where is the delta wing and why haven't we seen more of it
00:10:02well there you go he's still out on track still going around yeah well we they have spent a lot
00:10:06of time in the garage uh they had a uh a an air shift issue uh not a part that they've got one of the
00:10:15parts incidentally that was forced upon them uh was the wing mirrors they wanted to use rear-facing
00:10:21cameras we'll get back to that bar you want to say oh look who's popped up olivier canal
00:10:25motorsport boss of peugeot over the last few years yeah well uh peugeot racing in blue i think he just
00:10:30wants to have his photo taken nearby very very uh having a word with nissan you never know
00:10:40yes exactly just be careful no no i got it right i'm saying he you know trying to stand next to the
00:10:45the blue car almost pretend that yeah that's what i was saying do listen liz pay attention there we
00:10:50are the the four lines of the delta wing yeah so back out on track now we were just saying that they
00:10:58had their issue with uh a uh a hydro switch or was it an air switch which had their gear change it's uh
00:11:05not one of their own parts they were something off the shelf that they've had only a hundred days
00:11:10development or so to get this car here don't forget and we were telling you about those wing mirrors
00:11:15should we do that in a moment i think we'll have to doctor if we saw the car number two in the
00:11:18garage what did you do what was the problem yeah we had uh uh tom reported that the car has a strange
00:11:27feeling uh on the rear excellent uh that somehow the car was not uh symmetrical anymore and when we
00:11:34opened the hood we found a big lump of hard pickup that was between the wishbones in the suspension
00:11:41uh we moved it out we checked all the rest of suspension everything is fine now was it a similar
00:11:48problem as with mike rockenfeller earlier there was no problem at all there we just checked at the end
00:11:54i think it was movement on the tires but here for sure it was somehow blocking the free movement of the
00:12:02suspension and uh we never had it before like that yeah thank you very much uh so some debris uh tire
00:12:09debris i'll be bound uh affecting the suspension travel of the vehicle just a question of uh hooking
00:12:14out the lump and then all back to normal except that tom christensen is down to fifth place and that's
00:12:19probably not that normal at all okay we'll take a commercial break we will be checking our twitter sites
00:12:26uh it's uh it's uh it's liz halliday and carlton kirby and we'll be having a chat with you after this
00:12:40no no it's okay it's just gonna be there welcome back uh the morgan nissan just departed uh just uh
00:12:48arrived uh as you can see it's actually oak racing uh it's another badging issue uh just looked up there
00:12:54to see a car being pushed back it wasn't the 16 was it it was the dome yes it was it was 17 but
00:12:59they said the dome but that's joining the 16 which is back in again and uh so it goes on for armory
00:13:05pescarolo mr le mans and it's just all gone pear-shaped for him he's one of two mr le mans by
00:13:10the way the other one being jackie so i bumped into on the grid before the race did you i bumped into him
00:13:15as well and vanina is here as well she's come along to see what's going on it's a shame she's out of
00:13:19racing brought a huge amount of color into sports car and dtm racing and in fact dakar racing
00:13:26argument that car racing yes so in comes the number three car this is uh latest of the audis to stop
00:13:30work duval on board that car they're not going to change are they they're not touching the tires
00:13:36they're just refueling driver and car and uh again triple stinting the tires liz yeah no i would expect
00:13:44them to especially with sort of the lesser tire wear that a lot of these cars have been reporting
00:13:49basically tire usage is unlimited at le mans you can use as many as you can but it's just down to
00:13:54time so what the teams will be hoping for is that they've got tires they can safely use for as long
00:13:59as possible three stints is sort of a normal safe distance down to maybe two we pretty much never see
00:14:06a car change after one unless they have a problem and in the night time we can see four and sometimes
00:14:11five stints with certain cars well they are now changing the tires just to confuse us so you
00:14:15never can quite tell can you you never know there might be a slow puncture involved remember the end
00:14:19of last year's exactly there was an unscheduled stop by the winning car what went wrong it wasn't
00:14:23until after the race we discovered that ben ratrolia had a rear puncture yeah i would expect there to be
00:14:28if they just changed before i would expect there to be an issue though definitely there there will be a
00:14:32reason certainly audi is the last team that would be changing in every stint yeah but you mentioned about
00:14:39tires there's no limit on the number of tires you can have nor is there on fuel and every car in this
00:14:44race is given 3 800 liters of fuel for the week that's that's the fuel allocation another interesting
00:14:51static here the entry fee for le mans 43 000 euros that's what you pay that's what you pay to enter
00:14:57the race and do you know what the first prize is for winning le mans 40 000 euros so they're still
00:15:02making money even on the winner exactly it costs you 3 000 euros to win but you do get a nice trophy
00:15:08oh well that's all right then yeah exactly exactly uh another little change i think i'd pay 3 000
00:15:13euros to win them all i'm pretty sure done a little uh um uh nice maneuver there by the 21 car oh
00:15:21what's gone on a lot of smoke and nicely done through the pollards it's a lot nice maneuver that
00:15:26but nicely managed through i think that's simon dolan on board that car unless they've swapped over
00:15:32drivers all right i think it's about time we reveal that mark cole and myself both independently
00:15:37thought that the three car would be the victor this year hasn't changed is it coming out here who
00:15:42knows uh hasn't changed yet mark jenna is my man i shook hands of him at the start and anyone
00:15:51what was the topic i just uh talking about my stint you know we we have been unlucky with uh with the
00:15:57tires we got a puncher on the rear left just after the pit stop so we lost a lot of time with that and
00:16:03after that we we got like a full stint with uh with the poor grip and a traffic like you know when you
00:16:08you get the car exactly in the wrong timing we'd see it's kill you like crazy and guys are fighting
00:16:13each other also front of you you cannot overtake so it's a lot of time that we lost but you know i
00:16:19didn't want to take risk it's just the beginning of the race everything can happen still so now we carry
00:16:24on the car is not too bad hopefully we're going to come back a little bit the car is not too bad how
00:16:28happy are you with your lap times when you don't take the traffic into account i mean the beginning
00:16:33of the stint was perfect i was following uh andre you know with the heatron and i think the pace was
00:16:38good then i got that sponsor and i got like the huge traffic ever so the lap time was very very bad
00:16:44and now at the end of my last stint it was getting better i was still doing 27 28 so that's okay for
00:16:50the race thank you very much interesting they wouldn't have changed tires normally then surely
00:16:56not audi audi would be the last ones you'd say that would casually change them without a reason
00:17:00just while we were watching that by the way the extreme limits uh machine uh looked like it got a
00:17:05brake fire uh but whether that then affected uh some of the hydraulics it's uh always a danger if you
00:17:12pick up something like that mark it can actually be uh as well debris that gets affected uh they've gone
00:17:17gone back into the garage after having uh it extinguished they need to check everything just
00:17:21to make sure frankly that no electrics have been uh interfered with as well yeah i think uh you're
00:17:26better off to actually just check things out at limo instead of taking the risk of being stranded on
00:17:31the circuit that is one of the big issues the circuit's very very long to be stuck out there
00:17:36anywhere is a nightmare so i think we've seen that from a lot of the teams already in the start of
00:17:40this race they've said oh well we just weren't sure so we thought we'd just check it out yeah because
00:17:44really as well you don't want to lose time in the pits but a few minutes extra in the pits to check
00:17:49and make sure everything's all right it's worth the risk particularly for norma it is a norma and
00:17:53they're probably the least funded uh team here at le mans guillaume roux he runs the normal auto
00:17:57concept these cars have come out of of the cn series and in fact two of the three drivers uh philip
00:18:04tirion and philip heiserbrook have both been winners in the cn category racing particularly the the
00:18:10v2v series that runs throughout europe so anyway on board with the toyota let's listen to it for a second
00:18:14yeah i think we might get a big pickup here oh well no we weren't on board anymore a real shame
00:18:22uh yeah we're just we're just trying to get you uh uh up to speed as far as the uh energy collection
00:18:28system is concerned it really does sound rather spooky uh but yeah as yet we keep just missing
00:18:33out on those uh breaking zones when that energy is collected uh bina briggs says uh loving your
00:18:39fantastic commentary on eurosport fond memories of uh le mans 24 past years uh lisa i think you're
00:18:45in your fifth year here mark you're it's about 408 isn't it it's my eighth year of the month
00:18:51exactly she's a race driver exactly thanks pina uh and thanks to all the other kind comments of which
00:18:57there have been plenty yeah we appreciate it still with the toyota it might look japanese it might sound
00:19:03japanese but it's not it's all the chassis german the team is being run by a reka which is uh based
00:19:09not far from here hudi shonak of course who gave mazda incredible win in 1991 can he do the same again
00:19:16this weekend it's gonna be a tall order but at the moment toyota is two and three in the pecking order
00:19:22and it's had the same number of pit stops as the two out is the one audi ahead of it and one less for
00:19:28the audi behind it uh just seeing the 97 car just do its stuff here it's uh got itself a bit of track
00:19:34position out there and it is just stretching its legs absolutely beautifully it's third in class at
00:19:41the moment uh those uh who it was battling with still have to uh make their next stop as well and in
00:19:48fact i'm just uh seeing if i can uh find out for you darren oh in fact uh they have got better range
00:19:55here and bruni in the ferrari we were hearing that that car can go 14 laps which is a couple of laps
00:20:02further than the vet and the aston at the moment and liz what you were saying about uh fuel economy
00:20:07here it could be one of the major factors i think it really will be especially from what we saw at the
00:20:12very start of the race corvette just going that extra lap longer surely they will have noticed that doug
00:20:18feehan as well would have been on top of that so then everybody they're going to be looking for economy
00:20:22i think and it could actually be one of the big factors in those top three running cars in the pro
00:20:27am or in the pro series uh car 67 please turn on your headlights is uh is the order uh we were talking
00:20:36a little bit earlier on as well um about uh the fact if you get a little fire if you get a little fire
00:20:43then uh uh if it affects any of uh the lights out there then all of a sudden uh you're in terrible
00:20:51trouble because one light out you're going to have to come back and stop again so uh hence the
00:20:54precaution of taking it behind the pit wall check out all the wires everywhere and then uh have a
00:21:00happier time of things i think it's about time for a uh uh an update of where they stand classwise mark
00:21:06yeah let's have a quick look down then so benoit trillier in the lead for audi last year's winner in p2
00:21:11it's olivier pla and olivier has been in that car since the start of the race and he's just pitted and
00:21:18come out but you're leading in lmp2 we just saw olivier coming in getting fuel a new rubber
00:21:25everything according to plan it looks yeah yeah it's just a perfect start for us uh we are very proud
00:21:32of olivier because he's doing a very great job since the beginning of the race
00:21:37but the hardest part is to come we have to keep this position until tomorrow at 3 p.m you're the
00:21:43next in the car how does the program look like for you now it's not a long long time to wait until
00:21:49to get in the car yeah it's not easy to take a car in first position a lot of pressure but it will be
00:21:57okay the car is perfect and the track look great there is a bit of sun so i hope it will be fun thank you
00:22:05have a lot of fun thank you so that's matthew driving across for the racing morgan job team
00:22:11and that car still leading p2 after it would be implanted such a good job um interestingly enough
00:22:17it is uh illinois still on board of course he hasn't come in yet matthew is going to wait so that means
00:22:23at the moment liz that uh they've made four pit stops and matthew is still on board he's going for a fifth
00:22:29yeah i mean well i suppose he could be that the rule is that you can only do four hours within
00:22:35any six hour period in the car so they'll have to be keeping an eye on that no doubt there is a team
00:22:40manager keeping a close eye on that on the other side in the lmp2 class and in the gte am class they've
00:22:47said that no driver is allowed to drive any less than four hours total in the 24 hours and that rule is in
00:22:54place to make sure that you don't have an amateur driver that does 30 minutes at the end of le mans
00:22:59to claim the flag well that would happen a lot wouldn't it if they allowed that the 17 car incidentally
00:23:04has just rolled out and let me just tell you just to add to uh what we were saying about the standings
00:23:08here mark will take you through it in a moment but bruni has only made two stops in the 51 car
00:23:14um they rebuilt that machine they declared force majeure the drivers had to qualify in the 71
00:23:21they've got the range they've got the talent and you know what i think they might just win this one
00:23:26there's an early declaration uh with uh under just under 21 hours remaining they're going so well and
00:23:33with that kind of range and capability do not bet against them all they've got to do is make sure they
00:23:38don't bend it and don't have any troubles they keep it steady well they've had so many over the
00:23:43last few months that i think let's hope they're nearly done with that but uh yeah keeping it on
00:23:49the track nice consistent pit stops no problems but with that kind of fuel economy that could really
00:23:54bring them home well if you're just joining us here on eurosport just a quick wrap of the classes
00:23:59one two three and p1 benoit trullier leading for audi from nick lapier for toyota sebastian
00:24:04buemi lamar virgin having his first run here he's in third place p2 the best place car olivier pla
00:24:11we were just talking about in the oak racing pescarola badged as a morgan judd and that
00:24:17car is 11th overall leading p2 from baz linders in the sister car that's a good result and then the
00:24:23starworks honda all the way from america in the hands of scotsman ryan dial in third place in that
00:24:29class looking at pro then it's jimmy bruni from tommy milner from darren turner so just slight
00:24:34turnaround at the top there but those three ferrari corvette and aston martin showing just how
00:24:39competitive this class is this year our good friend uh spencer pompelli from the for america leading
00:24:46gtm at the moment with raymond narac many times winner of this race and uh gianni rhoda for porsche
00:24:53behind them so two porsches chasing a third another porsche in gtm sebastian baudet we just saw the dome
00:25:00leaving the pit lane um what was the last problem you had with the dome uh the list is getting pretty
00:25:08long but uh yeah we had a an alternator issue then we had a driveshaft uh cone that went off and then
00:25:17so it spilled oil everywhere and now we couldn't restart the car they looked at everything and
00:25:24they couldn't find anything so the thing finally restarted so uh we haven't found this the problem
00:25:31so i don't know but looking back to the beginning of the race it looked like a nice battle you had
00:25:36there with uh i think it was david brabham and uh belton baguette yeah it's uh it's just a shame you
00:25:42know the car is really good and uh unfortunately you know we on the engine side we can't really compete it's
00:25:49just uh the car is pretty fast in the top speed but the way to get there is just we lack a lot of
00:25:55torque i think so you know the guys at judd are doing the best they can but it's tough to compete
00:25:59against honda and you know big guys like that okay thank you very much remaining circumspect i think
00:26:05he knows the uh troubles that they're having here um chris parsons just handed me a note says what odds
00:26:10would you give that uh toyota would have been running second and third after three hours it's a very
00:26:16very good point and uh well they won't stay that way for for much longer because they're coming in
00:26:22for their stops as we speak uh on board with the set they're clearly ready and waiting for them
00:26:28uh these sequences do have to come uh be fed through uh we'll be uh we'll be coming back to you in just a
00:26:35few moments after this break uh where we'll be picking it back up but uh we'll hang on and just uh
00:26:41find out how their pit stops sequence through back in a moment
00:26:53welcome back to euro sport 20 hours and 50 minutes of the great race still to run and it's audi one
00:26:59but it's not audi two or three that is toyota and that's quite a big surprise to everyone perhaps
00:27:05carlton one of the big problems there is two of the audis have uh had their own problems and they've
00:27:10dropped down the field a little bit uh yes perhaps more issues than we're we're being let into
00:27:15secrets wise here uh we'll see um it's one of those things there are more questions than there are
00:27:21answers at the moment it's all very well having uh suspension travel and talking about debris and that
00:27:27kind of thing but the fact of the matter remains it was a rear-end issue with two cars they may well
00:27:32have just done a check on one and uh declared a problem with another but it begs a question mark
00:27:40um i mean you're not going to want to admit to things that you're you're not really fully up to
00:27:44speed on is there a bit of that going on who knows i mean there's been there's been rumors uh on the
00:27:49internet at the moment there might be drive shaft problems but uh we've been told the party line by
00:27:53dr wolfgang ulrich and i was very usually very honest of us something that they've always done they've
00:27:59told it straight and uh we can only go by what he tells us look at this we've had high speed cameras
00:28:05before but this is ultra motion camera this is even slower and you can see every little bit of rubber
00:28:10coming off the car this is dtm stuff isn't it oh it's magnificent it's carried over um i think uh you
00:28:17you gain your ideas where you can from different series and uh yes uh our very own andrew marriott
00:28:23bumped into him he's been doing a lot of work on dtm these days i'm almost jealous frank near i used to
00:28:27enjoy that series very much indeed with uh mark cole who's sitting next to me look at this picking
00:28:32your way through um one of the lotuses here in uh of lotus uh badge cars it's the 12 car in fact
00:28:38which uh was the quickest of all of the petrol engine cars so loads are certainly keeping the flag
00:28:44waving here but uh you see the um performance difference perhaps got his own race to uh to be dealt
00:28:50with don't forget picking his way past uh the uh petrol powered uh 22 car but uh this ultra wants
00:28:57to get in here this is roman dumas look at the speed he's carrying that's the first little kink in
00:29:02indianapolis now look at the second one which you have to take a huge bite off don't take too much oh
00:29:06we lost it now unfortunately but the number seven car comes in this has been running second nick lapierre
00:29:11and uh what a good performance by the uh let's let's say it's the german japanese french team
00:29:20chris parsons then joining us he's been out there watching what's going on i think chris himself has
00:29:24been uh mightily impressed by toyota chris you hinted to us didn't you a couple of minutes ago that you're
00:29:30who would have put money on toyota running second and third some uh three and a quarter hours into the
00:29:36race absolutely they seem to have problems in in qualifying and now they're running absolutely
00:29:43regularly and it's aldi that seemed to be picking up the problem so having had a trouble free
00:29:48qualifying absolutely yes so this is very interesting indeed um you wouldn't you wouldn't have got any
00:29:55odds on that i'm sure there we are though very very exciting let's let's hope it goes on but we have
00:30:01this fighting all through the field p2 has been incredible the gt pro class particularly
00:30:06there hasn't been a moment of boredom in this race so far no gt's as liz has been saying well
00:30:13everyone's been saying the aston the the corvette and the ferrari absolutely terrific
00:30:22yeah it's been a delight um couldn't be more different from the conditions we had in the group c race
00:30:27some very expensive repairs to be dealt with they told us yesterday in the studio that you are here to
00:30:34learn it looks you learn very quickly yeah well the team uh they're doing a good job you know um we're
00:30:39a professional team and um when i meant learn i meant learn about the car so uh not learn about
00:30:45how to run the car we know how to run the car but um just learning you know as we go on things that go
00:30:51wrong with the car potentially that we can learn and adapt in the future or change and uh no but so far
00:30:57so good yeah you had some trouble in the free practice and the qualifying sessions but how is
00:31:01the car running today well you can see it's running pretty well um the drivers haven't complained of
00:31:07any issues as such um yeah we had uh slight electrical problems in in the qualifying session i think it's
00:31:14quality two uh on the day two of quality and uh obviously the engine failure on day one but that was just
00:31:20uh you know it's just a very small problem which turned out i mean it sounds dramatic more dramatic
00:31:25than it was um we haven't had any engine problems at all in testing or uh since that engine blow up and
00:31:33we know exactly why it happened so forget that one um yeah i mean touch wood it's uh it's going all right
00:31:39at the moment yeah and i guess you're the next in the car sorry you are the next in the car i guess
00:31:44yeah next in the car in plugs at the ready and uh sebastian's going to come in after another 10 laps and
00:31:50uh i'll be on my way thank you very much best of luck to him uh we certainly hope so it's been a
00:31:56terrific battle raging on at the top of uh the gte pro the grand turismo endurance professionals
00:32:05and i can tell you that uh fisichella it was the man who binned the 51 car has actually got on board
00:32:11that machine it's dropped back down into third place but its range is absolutely phenomenal um can't
00:32:17remember when it was that the aston and uh the uh corvette came in last but i can tell you this
00:32:24much they're running pretty much the same fuel strategies 14 laps they're getting out of the
00:32:30ferrari out there and right now uh it looks like the ferrari in the hands of fisichella will volt back
00:32:37into the lead of that class once uh turner and indeed milner make their stops which won't be that
00:32:45far away now i understand we're going down to the 51 garage in just a few moments time and we'll be
00:32:52having a word uh to find out just exactly what the legs of this machine are like and indeed i do hope
00:32:57that uh uh sebastian asking me broody just what it's like doing a battle and indeed being involved
00:33:04in uh so much traffic because they're having to hold station if you like do their own thing but be
00:33:10mindful of quicker cars as well just wrestling and trying to come through uh sebastian is downstairs
00:33:16let's join them john maria bruni third at the moment um but you started from way back so i guess so far
00:33:23everything runs well with the new brand new car you have yeah yeah it was uh for me it was uh first
00:33:29laps uh since wednesday the car is the car is good we were i was on doing a double stint on tires and
00:33:38we were quicker than everybody else so at the moment everything is good now we change tires the other
00:33:43they did so next next stop we will be again ahead now your guys your mechanics had to change the whole
00:33:50car to rebuild the car on thursday do you still work on the perfect setup or is that set now for
00:33:55the whole race yeah they change everything's in the car brand new car like you said before
00:34:00chassis engine everything so i hope everything go well okay but how is the setup feeling because you
00:34:06didn't have much time to work on that uh still working fighting in the car it's not perfect but
00:34:11it's the best that we could make it okay thank you very much thank you uh you know what guys if they're
00:34:16fighting the setup on the car and uh you know it's all credit to them you have a massive engineering
00:34:23job such as that the car was effectively totaled and they had to get special dispensation to make
00:34:28the rebuild and chris parsons uh you know you were doing group c earlier on today we totaled a few of
00:34:35those cars as well in the wet uh but this is modern technology it takes a bit more to uh to bolt it back
00:34:40together to be honest but with all the electrics and everything else and they did it here yep those
00:34:45guys did have worked night and day at night to get the car out and they did and tony villander just
00:34:52did a few laps at the end of qualifying and everyone was very relieved to see the car running again
00:34:58really terrific i think they even announced that they weren't going to get out in qualifying
00:35:02and they confounded everyone by actually going out with with half an hour to go terrific really good job
00:35:09great to see them here it's uh it's what it's all about mark picking up pieces and making them
00:35:13work for you oh who's this not the 51 car please please not after all of what we've actually been
00:35:22saying about it come on 80 81 right it's still the f of course more work for the mechanics and that's
00:35:28matt griffin on board dear oh dear matt what are you doing liz will be giving you a smack when she sees
00:35:32you for that she's just been talking you up and uh the 81 car then being pulled backwards they get him on the
00:35:37road it is a long way off though isn't it yeah just when they settle down for a well-earned cup of
00:35:42coffee looks like it's done up again yeah appears to be slightly off um all of a sudden they may have
00:35:48some front end uh work yeah imagine with as well here we go once again it's uh vet versus um aston this
00:35:56is just running and running isn't it this is just getting ridiculous now this is the lead and uh we've been
00:36:02running for uh what three hours and 19 minutes or so and this it just hasn't changed this uh this
00:36:09situation here and uh right now he is closing it's uh later on the breaks for the aston queen of magic
00:36:16the vet and the aston are extraordinarily similarly matched um you can see that here as far as the
00:36:22ferrari is concerned it's quicker out of the corners and not so not so hot on the brakes the aston i
00:36:27think just beats everyone as far as that's concerned and this ding-dong battle is going to
00:36:32rage on it may well be into the wee small hours where mr chris fastens rejoins yeah thank you very
00:36:37much i'm sure it will be five tomorrow morning so please come and join us uh neville and i would
00:36:43like to have your company well we'd like people to stay with us all all the time until then not just
00:36:48come back at three but uh but uh yeah as you're saying uh carlton just said they're very equally
00:36:53matched these two but coming at it from quite different directions american muscle car it's a
00:36:57corvette and it's you know it's heavy detroit v8 under all that and it's good solid american
00:37:02engineering whereas aston martin is the epitome of all that's good in british car building a beautiful
00:37:07v12 in the back of that vantage whereas in gt gt2 they gt3 rather they tend to use the v8 still
00:37:15that's what uh our friend stuart hall's racing at the moment in the blank plane series but this is the
00:37:19v12 and they're giving it its head and it's working yeah it looks absolutely beautiful it's one of the
00:37:23the best sounding vehicles out there if you're uh if you happen to be uh local and you've paid for
00:37:28the uh you're a sport player so you're on site and watching us live why not get yourself a nice
00:37:34little ringtone record that uh that aston martin going by i've done it it sounds glorious
00:37:44i understand that uh we are um we are going to be switching very very briefly to a uh i think it'll
00:37:52be picture in picture to get a tennis result um so we'll be going to uh what is a squeaky shoe sport
00:37:58or is it they're playing outdoors it's summertime sorry uh and then we'll be back uh but hopefully
00:38:04we won't lose pictures i'm hoping it's going to be picture in picture so at least you can keep tabs
00:38:08on exactly what's happening here we're going to live up to our uh uninterrupted coverage nomica
00:38:12otherwise uh monica otherwise we are uh going to be in trouble with lots of you please don't call me
00:38:17monica carlton i've told you about that before okay so after you go so benoit trollier then still
00:38:21leading the number one car last year's winner starting from pole and they have not lost the
00:38:26lead of this race since uh it got underway as carlton said some uh what three and a half hours ago and
00:38:32it's going to go on this this is getting towards a difficult time for drivers now sun is starting to
00:38:38get low we're not we don't get sunset officially until 10 o'clock tonight sunrise is bang on six o'clock
00:38:44tomorrow morning but that doesn't mean to say it's dark immediately it takes a while for the
00:38:48gloaming to settle in and of course sunrise uh follows dawn so in effect you've only got probably
00:38:54about seven hours of darkness here at le mans during this race chris against daytona which is uh more
00:38:59than 12. yes it's uh it's half and half well uh just to warn you it sounds like we're going to cut away
00:39:08for two minutes uh to see uh some tennis uh please don't throw things at the screen uh we'll keep
00:39:15an eye on it and uh just in case you're part of the eurosport family stays with the motorsport
00:39:21we're going to carry on how's about that uh so off you'll go some of you to uh watch tennis and i'm just
00:39:27hoping uh that you've got a tennis commentator standing by to actually fill you in because
00:39:31believe me uh what i know about tennis could be filled uh fitted on the back of a biscuit
00:39:37thank you very small biscuit which you've just eaten yes that i've actually just eaten
00:39:42you've no longer got the information carl we're not not in the right place yes this will be uh
00:39:47this will be revved up to chance now to say yeah you could probably fit your most important knowledge
00:39:51on the same uh on the same biscuit there you go um yes our friends on the friends of the back page
00:39:58your enemies i'm not quite sure benoit trelle leads le mans for audi olivier pla for the
00:40:05morgan team leads p2 over in gt pro it's tommy milner only his second le mans for corvette he had
00:40:12two for pan oz but the second for the corvette factory team he leads pro and am is led at the moment
00:40:20by what's still spencer pompelli our american friend so two americans there dominating gt well i just might
00:40:28add as well as the 41 car makes its entry into the pits here the greaves motorsport machine uh that
00:40:34uh yes uh we of course would love to stay here and if we do have to cut away then uh uh it certainly
00:40:40didn't get our vote but anyway here you go uh lmp2 there's the battle for fear going on right now
00:40:47oh it's uh nice to see the name brundle next to one of these cars yep 1990 winner martin and uh many
00:40:54many many times at a le mans racer now his son alex who he's mentored and tutored himself absolutely
00:41:01proud to be with him and uh martin is just thoroughly enjoying being back he's just drinking in the
00:41:06atmosphere chris all week hasn't he yes he has and his attitude is absolutely right he's uh he's been
00:41:13on the radio several times and he just he seems to be there his brains in the right place but that's
00:41:19what you'd expect of him yeah and i talked to him about last last week's canadian grand prix which
00:41:23was a thriller towards the end but he said do you know although it was a great race all i was thinking
00:41:28about the whole time in montreal was being at the mom well part of the family here he is absolutely uh
00:41:35chris parsons part of the nighttime family don't forget he and neville hey uh we'll be going through the
00:41:40wee small hours i'll be joining them for a good portion of it as well and i hope uh that you will join us as well
00:41:49so there we are the scene down at uh as they come back up the back stretch of the circuit towards
00:41:58the porsche curves long shadows now if you're in france like we are 6 30 in the evening 5 30 of course
00:42:05in in the uk and i don't know what the time in singapore melbourne is at the moment but we're going
00:42:09to be taking a break in 30 seconds carlton i think probably from what we've been told you can maybe find
00:42:15the racing still on the other eurosport british channel or whichever uh well i hope so because
00:42:21that's how we've been uh flagging it at the beginning of all of this but uh anyway let's uh let's catch up
00:42:26uh with uh apparently our friends on the tennis courts at this uh important time of year uh and we'll be
00:42:34back in just a few moments time i think we may as far as our international viewers are concerned be
00:42:40switching to eurosport international i assume that uh you at british will be staying with us
00:42:58welcome back uh to all our international viewers who took a uh a brief hiatus to go and catch up with
00:43:17some tennis um you haven't missed uh a great deal i might add uh although uh the approach into the pit
00:43:24by the 97 car was as dramatic as always darren turner is there and the two-car audi is also in
00:43:30here and he's got company yeah they're one lap apart but it's our race leader number one benoit
00:43:35trellier from tom christensen the two car tom unfortunately having lost a lap in the garage
00:43:41and let's concentrate on our race leader tear off uh strip across the windscreen there these cars
00:43:47incidentally carlton as well as those fairly large mirrors on the side have rear view video so they can
00:43:53give them some extra view of what's happening behind why they need to see behind them speed
00:43:57they're traveling i'm not quite sure but uh they do have that extra thing because of the uh fairly
00:44:02limited rearward vision on these cars yeah it's interesting actually they insisted that the delta wing
00:44:08nissan had standard wing mirrors fitted because they only wanted to run with rear view cameras yeah and
00:44:16you know what the difference was eight percent in its aero efficiency that is a huge amount because
00:44:22of the lack of any other appendages yeah so tom christensen no tires so he got out much quicker
00:44:27but he as we said he's a lap and a fifth not only a lap a lap and 63 seconds down on the race leader
00:44:36benoit trellier we think staying on board he's taking new tires on out he goes this has been a great
00:44:42run for him and andre lotter and of course uh we only had two of the three drivers on board that
00:44:48cartman that was a busy track that was an extraordinarily busy track and they did a great
00:44:53job to actually keep it on there now milner don't forget he'll be on full attack if this is his last
00:44:59lap before he actually comes in 73 has gone by oh no no no no no no no uh yes yes yes yes i'm afraid
00:45:08so let's dip down it i believe it is the am the 99 this is in the porsche curves as well you don't
00:45:15want to go off there oh dear oh it's quite a hard hit it's taking the rear wing off so that's going
00:45:20to cost them time even when they recover that car dear oh dear well there we are uh it is 99 confirmation
00:45:28of that that's a real shame uh we were uh talking up the possibility of a pro and an am victory so we'll
00:45:36for the time being at least we'll have to leave it with the pros everyone get till fortune don't
00:45:39forget 24 hours of racing at this kind of pace now you're going to get caught out at some point
00:45:44um we'll have to wait and see what the problem was yeah that car has had delays already it's not
00:45:50actually in the top 50 which is where our page goes down to that's the care car being shared by
00:45:56the scandinavians well in fact it's all three dutchmen isn't it it's uh christopher nygaard christian
00:46:00polsen and the supremely talented alan simonson uh alan of course becoming a father just uh just a
00:46:07month ago congratulations on that but this is one of the two factory cars the this is the vantage of
00:46:13v8 well i'm sure holland would like to have them but they're actually danish uh oh there you go land
00:46:18of bacon they're both lands of bacon did i say danish you said you said dutch dutch oh sorry i did say
00:46:24scandinavian then i said they were dutch yeah it's time you have me taken out the back and shot carter
00:46:29better for everyone steady here we are on board with the number one car uh it's in p1 at the moment
00:46:36in the hands of trullier and uh this is a magnificent machine
00:46:43hear that
00:46:43bang that's where it comes in 120 k's and suddenly wuff gets all that uh 200 brake horsepower 150
00:46:56kilojoules of stored up energy kinetic energy it's a cursed system yeah just like having formula one but
00:47:02they tackle it so did toyota in a completely different way
00:47:05car 89 99 in the gravel marshall post 115. be aware yellow flags are being displayed yellow flags
00:47:15are being displayed at marshall post 115. yeah there we are for the 99 car the voice of our race
00:47:20director who uh he's been a little bit quieter today thank heaven um i think it was he was running the
00:47:25entire show during the group c earlier on to be honest uh yellow fag at that marshall point just
00:47:30remember we told you to first on euro sport before he did so so great battle then continuing
00:47:36in for the g for the gt pros and it's why they're pros that they're still on the track the ams aren't
00:47:41at the moment for some reason so uh and am aston martin the number one car then continuing on its
00:47:47way and this is just such a good run for them they haven't had the trouble that the number two and
00:47:52number four cars have had the number three car has also been trouble free rem and dumas and in fact
00:47:56carlton he's moved that car back up ahead of nick lapierre so he's regained third place and all four
00:48:03of those uh leading cars the two out is the two toyotas have made five pit stops
00:48:10so this is all in real time and there goes the number eight car of uh on board at the moment
00:48:17look at that uh they've got to be careful these two very very careful indeed they uh don't want
00:48:23to lose position well either of them that was a lovely take different parts of their cycle of
00:48:29course and here he comes you get a much lighter vehicle later in the run naturally because of
00:48:34the fuel that you've used and um yeah some very very slick work there by boemi yes indeed that's the uh
00:48:41the eight car there i'm just trying to work out what's happening there that was that that's not
00:48:48for the lead is it surely no no that was the number one car was it that he was went past there just we
00:48:55just had a gap thing showing that the two of them well uh timing's gone down a bit just made a stop
00:49:01julia so uh carrying a heavy load yeah that's what we're saying the uh the difference between the vehicles
00:49:06at the beginning and the end of their runs is significant yeah and of course when everything's
00:49:12up to temperature as well has a massive impact look at this hit those lights why don't you yeah
00:49:17it is actually one button by the way uh and then the flashing goes you don't have to keep sort of
00:49:21fiddling away uh you can concentrate on the driving you hit the button and away you go yeah and of course
00:49:26like all other controls on the steering wheel so you don't lose distraction fiddling for things on
00:49:30the dashboard like you you had to in the old days into the uh first chicane then now named the
00:49:36the how much of a surprise sorry mark how much of a surprise do you think it would be if toyota
00:49:41went the distance here and maybe got a podium that would be a major success wouldn't it i think they
00:49:46would earn a huge huge plaudits from everyone remember the car is run by huda shonak of a raker
00:49:52whole raker teams behind it they've got the german engineering that came out of toyota formula one in
00:49:57cologne this is basically a formula one car in sports car clothing engines from japan super
00:50:03reliable we know they lost an engine on wednesday night in qualifying but aunt davidson told us
00:50:08earlier they know what happened with that it won't happen again so it was obviously some sort of
00:50:11installation problem but i think you it is a fantastic setup this whole project and in fact i
00:50:18saw uh mr takahashi from toyota on the grid this afternoon i'd said i just went out i'd said i'd like
00:50:23to congratulate you i think you've bought a beautiful car and thank you for helping to save them on this
00:50:27year ever the pr man that you are yes i had to i was wearing the euro sport shirt did they give you
00:50:33a t-shirt yeah i had the you usually i had the euro sport shirt on so i said that's enough thank you
00:50:38mark cole's uh t-shirt collection is extensive yeah i'm actually wearing a sport hat at the moment
00:50:43because the sun is so bright in our eyes i need the peak just to be able to see the screens we are
00:50:47actually cooking here uh so is the battle in the amgt pro see what i did there uh and there it is
00:50:54miller out in front but you know what fisichella is going to take the lead of this because miller's
00:50:57going to have to pit fairly shortly and as if by magic we dip down i think they may well be calling
00:51:02them in who knows a three car lights a blaze oh hello yeah yeah wait wait wait take him on the other
00:51:08side does so gets away doesn't interfere too much uh so is this an in run as we're looking for the 74
00:51:17car we have to tell you in just a few moments and uh we're uh going to try and have a chat with jordan
00:51:26taylor 73 car in just a few moments time it's 74 car that we're concerned with uh looks like they may
00:51:32be on their in run as we speak which will put fisichella in a 51 ferrari back out and in the lead
00:51:38the 99 aston has made it home and uh wing mirror damage as he comes by us here swinging away like a
00:51:46like a dead lunchbox on a string i'm afraid bashing against the side of the car uh we'll see that in
00:51:52a few moments time looking at uh the eight car going by he's absolutely tearing up the track
00:51:58for uh toyota at the moment now's the 49 and it's a bit slow getting out of it away yeah it looked like
00:52:04he got problems there yeah that's uh that was pierre capper who's just taken over the second play what
00:52:08was the second place uh howdy three car coming in now uh this is our tip for victory for the whole
00:52:13thing both mark and myself independently i may i may uh i may add here we both thought the same thing and
00:52:19in comes the 74 uh the 50 i beg your pardon the 50 long view of it yes that's one of the uh that's the 50
00:52:30car 50 car coming in his fourth in am yeah that's one of that's patrick bornhauser in the labra car
00:52:36last year's factory car but more importantly the number three car comes in roman dumas
00:52:41i don't think we have a driver change at this stage of the change of drink bottles and just checking all
00:52:45systems go there doesn't look like they're even uh concerned at the moment about the tires they've had a
00:52:53a quick look i know the tires i think probably there's no fresh ones waiting so there's not a
00:52:57planned stop the one we saw an hour ago carl to remember we said we didn't think it's time for
00:53:01tar change and it turned out later that there had been a slow puncher you know what this corvette is
00:53:06getting a good deal of range here another one on our screen i'm looking at uh the 70 car hooking by
00:53:12i'm waiting i'm waiting with bated breath for the 74 to come in and it's not handling yet which is
00:53:18boats badly for aston i'm afraid this of course is our gtm championship leader raymond narak on
00:53:25board he won at spa great win with him and teddy uh patrick pa at uh at spa patrick son of teddy
00:53:32pa the former formula one and sports car driver and these two have done such a good job in the
00:53:36imsa performance matmut porsche very much a local team the team is based at rouen they the car is
00:53:42fettled in the rouen porsche dealership garage that's uh only a couple of hours up the road from le mans
00:53:48and raymond raymond having taken this car well the similar car to the gt2 win at le mans four years
00:53:55ago corvettes we're going to go and have a quick chat with wayne taylor's son jordan jordan i think
00:54:05it was your first ever stint here at the le mans 24 hours how was it yeah it was nice it was nice to
00:54:10get that first in out of the way without any any serious mistakes uh we had a slow puncture in the
00:54:14right front which was kind of messing with my head a little bit but um glad to get that first
00:54:19standing out of the way and go on with the rest of the race okay was it planned that you do only one
00:54:23was it planned that you do only one no we would have double standing on the tires but with that slow
00:54:27puncture on the right front uh we decided just to do the driver change and get back into our rotation
00:54:32okay thank you very much thanks this is a great effort this one and his brother of course ricky
00:54:37wayne's other son is currently leading the grand am championship and there they're driving the the
00:54:42grand am prototype which is also corvette powered and uh is in the shape of a corvette had some great
00:54:47races this year so very much a family affair say this quietly but the 74 car is looking absolutely
00:54:54fantastic they've still only made three stops don't forget and uh they are eating up the track
00:54:59out there we're on board with the number one car he's our race leader
00:55:17ah what a shame we went to where just that moment when they hit 120 kilometers an hour that's when the
00:55:24all the kinetic energy kicks in into that front wheel drive we'd like to have heard that but you could
00:55:28hear yourself just how quiet that was going through the ford chicane there it's called me spooky
00:55:34absolutely um it's a small single single turbo v6 in that car they've gone the opposite route to
00:55:41toyota and the one that perjot went on they say with a smaller engine smaller well-developed turbo they
00:55:47can get the fuel economy they need with the power uh miller's still out there in uh the corvette going
00:55:52around yet again uh he's only made three stops don't forget this doesn't bode well for aston
00:55:58who are starting to rack up their stops unfortunately they've already taken four
00:56:03so they're getting an extra lap out of the corvette here as for the ferrari they're getting an extra
00:56:10couple of laps themselves so as soon as that 74 corvette does pit then the 51 ferrari will take over
00:56:17the lead of the pro class this is the seven hybrid of toyota running third in class at the moment behind
00:56:26the eight car also a toyota would have thought we'd be saying that at this
00:56:33welcome back to le mans and we can say to you now good evening from le mans 6 45 just creeping up to uh
00:56:40the early evening most of you probably just uh thinking about going down to the pubs or
00:56:45restaurants or clubs don't stay here because this race is getting better by the lap so so close at
00:56:52the top audi toyota toyota one two three and p2 it might be two morgan pescarola's leading but they've
00:56:59got jody firth in the oreca hunting them down in gt it's been this incredible battle going on between
00:57:06corvette and aston martin that's just for the moment turned in favor of ferrari gincarlo
00:57:12physical in the car which had to be rebuilt after he crashed it on wednesday night he's in second place
00:57:18darren turner in third and staying on board that car down he's been there forever carleton
00:57:22he just likes it in there uh quite simply it must be that uh down turner running at the moment uh on
00:57:31yet another stint here and uh the 74 car is in so this will be a lead change with ferrari taking over
00:57:39uh they really did attack for the last couple of laps incidentally they obviously knew what their fuel
00:57:45range was yeah they've got an advantage corvette over aston and over both of those ferrari and the
00:57:5151 car there is uh the aston uh in running in second place the 97 in the hands of darren turner
00:57:58uh he's still out there on track he's uh stopped not too long ago on my and he just sails by our
00:58:04commentary position right now the 99 aster which is running in the amateur category has had to stop
00:58:10with uh some problems big big lock up on the uh the run into pit road here uh by the golf 28 car
00:58:18golf 29 is out it's the first marker of doom i think yeah yeah our famous marker 10 years old
00:58:24but unfortunately it retired last year it expired so we've had to buy a new one that cost a fortune
00:58:30for a black felt tip pen yeah but anyway just just to go back to the corvettes which they're still
00:58:34settling at uh richard westbrook will be getting on board that car because ollie gavin started it
00:58:39american tommy took over uh there's a car without driver uh that suggests going around the track
00:58:51yes thrown its driver and is carrying on alone oh dear uh and uh darren turner of course did not
00:58:57start that aston so he's still got plenty of time in it it was started by stephan mucker as liz told us
00:59:02earlier a driver may do no more than four hours in any six hour period of this race that's just to
00:59:08uh ensure no one gets uh tired and emotional behind the wheel absolutely uh just looking at
00:59:13the 61 car which had its own troubles a little bit earlier on today uh sailing by waiting for the 51
00:59:19that's going to take a class lead in the hands of uh giankella fisichella the 51 car yes uh with an
00:59:26amazing range has only made three stops both aston and corvette have made four however the fourth stop for
00:59:36corvette came two laps two whole laps after aston martin uh which does not bode well for aston's
00:59:43chances here because uh the fuel range is going to be a crucial factor it's bound to be the 71 car coming
00:59:49by us as uh we head out on track and just catch up with one of the lotus badged machines out there
00:59:57haven't mentioned too much about lotus or indeed the low
