00:00Dozens of police and volunteers scour dry scrubland in hot windy conditions in a major effort to try and find four-year-old Gus.
00:12Since we were advised we've had a police presence here and a search response and we'll continue to do so until we actually find Gus.
00:20Police say he'd been playing in the sand outside his home when his grandmother went to check on him about five o'clock late Saturday
00:28but he was nowhere to be found.
00:30So they looked around the area until they actually called emergency services.
00:36We anticipate that he's wandered off and that's where we're concentrating our search efforts.
00:42A helicopter has been scanning the area from the sky using infrared to work through the night.
00:48While on the ground foot patrols have been boosted with trail bikes and all-terrain vehicles.
00:54Mounted police travelled from Adelaide to join the search on Monday alongside water operations which have been checking dams and tanks on the property.
01:03Gus is described as Caucasian with long blonde curly hair and was last seen wearing a cobalt blue long-sleeved t-shirt with a yellow minion on the front, light grey pants, a grey sun hat and boots.
01:15Police say his family have been working with them and sharing their intimate knowledge of the remote property here to help find their four-year-old boy.
01:24This poor lad, just four years old and very close to the family and so of course they're devastated so we're working very closely with the family.
01:34I can't imagine what they're going through working on. I think it would be devastating for them.
01:37It's just terrible that he's got lost and whatever and I hope I find him.
01:43Day temperatures have been in the high 20s while overnight dropping to around 6 to 8 degrees.
01:49It would be uncomfortable for him but we don't anticipate that we're going to stop zero temperatures.
01:55The search will continue through the night.
