00:00Lots going on with the weather this weekend. Do keep up to date with the forecast.
00:04We've got some heavy rain and some warmth before things turn colder for all of us as we head into next week.
00:11Let's deal with the rain though, first of all, because there are Met Office warnings in place,
00:15covering the east of Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, parts of northern England, parts of north and west Wales.
00:21The rain really building up here during Saturday through to Saturday night and Sunday morning.
00:26Could cause some flooding issues, certainly creating some disruption and check before you travel on Saturday,
00:33particularly Saturday evening with that rain coming in.
00:35Now, there's rain in these areas during Friday from this weather front,
00:39but the main weather feature for the weekend doesn't really develop until we get to later on Friday.
00:46It's an area of low pressure brewing up from the southwest and pushing its way slowly northwards.
00:50And because it hasn't really properly formed yet,
00:52that adds to a bit of the uncertainty for exactly where these weather fronts are lying.
00:57But a zone across northern England, Wales, southwest England likely to start very wet during Saturday.
01:02Some bright colours there, some heavy bursts of rain slowly starting to push back further north,
01:09returning to Scotland.
01:10Northern Scotland seeing a thicker cloud and some showery rain and a fairly brisk northerly wind.
01:15And in the south, still quite warm and humid,
01:18but also the potential for one or two heavy thundery showers.
01:21But also here, we should see some sunny spells coming through.
01:26It then gets quite windy.
01:28You can see this little swirl here.
01:29That's the area of low pressure that's developing.
01:31And as it moves north, some gusty winds coming into parts of Wales,
01:35and particularly southwest England, during Saturday afternoon.
01:38So the winds in the south coming from the south,
01:41the winds in the north coming from the north.
01:42So quite a contrast in temperatures in the south.
01:45Not as warm as Friday, but still getting up over 20 degrees,
01:49where we see some sunshine coming through.
01:51If you're stuck under that rain band, it'll feel pretty cool at just 13 or 14 Celsius.
01:56And with the winds coming in from the north,
01:58while temperatures struggling across the far north of Scotland,
02:01some places may not get much above 10 or 11 Celsius.
02:04Now, those northerly winds will win.
02:06They will bring down cooler air as this low pressure finally pulls away.
02:10There'll be some gusty winds in many areas during Saturday nights and first thing on Sunday.
02:14And those northerly winds bringing that cooler air to all areas by the end of Sunday.
02:20Where this weather front lies, there'll be thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain trickling south during Sunday as well.
02:26Those winds adding to that chilly feel.
02:28In the south, may start dry, but there'll still be some showers,
02:31particularly for Wales and southwest England,
02:33and showers feeding in on that northerly winds.
02:36Could bring a little bit of snow over the tops of the Scottish mountains.
02:39Nothing unusual about that.
02:40But you will notice that change in feel wherever you are as things turn quite a bit chillier by the time we get to Sunday,
02:48especially when you add on the wind.
02:49Again, 10 or 11 at best across the north.
02:52Further south, having been over 20 degrees,
02:54some places will be 7, 8, 9 degrees lower come Sunday afternoon.
02:59And quite a bit lower than the average as well.
03:01These are the temperatures, the maximum temperatures when compared to average on Saturday.
03:05That cooler zone where we've got the weather front lingering.
03:09Fast forward to Sunday and much more of the map is blue.
03:13Quite a bit colder than average, particularly in this zone across parts of the Midlands and eastern England
03:18where it's likely to stay fairly cloudy.
03:20So it is turning colder through the weekend and there's some heavy rain around as well.
03:24As I said, do keep up to date with the forecast and particularly those weather warnings.
