00:00Back to the program of Major League Baseball now in Washington.
00:03Two bad baseball teams, which you love to see.
00:05Why?
00:06Spencer Strider.
00:07Hey, man, that guy can win the Cy Young.
00:08No, he can't this year.
00:09He's been absolutely brutal.
00:11You know what might be worse?
00:12Mitchell Parker, the left-handed pitcher on the mound tonight for those Nationals.
00:15903, 904 on the rotation.
00:17A 645 start tonight.
00:18A heavy favorite for Atlanta.
00:20Anywhere between minus 160 to minus 165 and a total of nine.
00:24I don't even want to handicap this game without just saying there will be runs tonight.
00:28Both of these pitchers absolutely stink out loud.
00:31Give me the over, Joe.
00:32We're scoring runs in Washington tonight.
00:36Yeah, you know, listen, Washington's playing much better baseball in the months of September.
00:43I mean, the Braves finally won a game last night, but I think they're 4-8 in September, right?
00:48But the Nats, well, they're playing pretty good.
00:51They're 9-4 so much so far this month.
00:54And they've been hitting the ball, to your point.
00:56They've been crushing it here.
00:58Atlanta, not so much.
01:00But given what we've seen from Strider, who's still, if they're still rolling him out there,
01:05Donnie, they're still working on some things with him.
01:07I thought he did a good job last time out against the Cubs.
01:10He only gave up two runs and six hits in six innings.
01:13The problem, Atlanta didn't hit, and they lost that game.
01:16So I think Washington is absolutely the team to back in this spot.
01:21Plenty of value.
01:22I get the better team, better hitting team right now.
01:25Yeah, I'll take the Nats.
01:26Call the rookie up tonight.
01:29Tampa Bay is at home down in Steinbrenner Field, which we love in Tampa, heat and humidity.
01:33How about Toronto bringing up their 2024 first-round pick for a start in Major League Baseball.
01:40Trey, you savage?
01:41I'm going to say his last eight minutes at this point, always tough to handicap those, but high expectations.
01:46And a favorite for Toronto in first place in the AL East, going up against Griffin Jackson at the total, listed at eight and a half.
01:53Any thoughts on a youngster getting his first Major League Baseball start in the midst of a pennant-slash-playoff race?
02:00Well, he should be used to the minor league ballpark that he's about to pitch in, but I don't know that that's great either, to tell you the truth.
02:09Listen, I don't like this Toronto team on the road.
02:12I think it's a nice story.
02:13Boyle, I think, is going for Tampa Bay here.
02:18So, once again, Tampa is going to be looking to the bullpen here.
02:23I don't know.
02:24Call me crazy.
02:24I think that Tampa at home may be spoiling this kid's debut tonight.
02:30Yeah, we're going to jump around to some of these Major League Baseball games to make sure we get those in, the important ones here.
02:34The Philadelphia Phillies on the West Coast to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers.
02:38Two first-place teams here.
02:40Big game scenario, why?
02:42Could be a hat and a t-shirt game for the Philadelphia Phillies.
02:44They win.
02:44They clinch the division over the New York Mets.
02:46And also, the Dodgers want to stay clear of the San Diego Padres.
02:49The Dodgers, with Emmett Sheehan on the mound going up against Ranger Suarez, they, talking about the Dodgers, are the favorite here at a minus-132 to minus-135 price, depending on where you're shopping today.
02:59You take a look at the total listed at eight and a half.
03:01We know it's a pitcher's ballpark.
03:03Ranger Suarez back in form tonight, Joe.
03:05Do we see nine runs or no?
03:06Yeah, he's been absolutely bonkers this last month here.
03:13Whatever mechanically he was working on, he is fixed because his last four starts, 3-0 with a 0.38 ERA in 24 innings.
03:23That's pretty good here.
03:25I'm pretty impressed with what we've seen from him.
03:27This feels like it's going to be very much a playoff atmosphere here tonight.
03:33This could be a peek ahead to what we're going to get over the next month, Donnie.
03:37So, I don't know that we're going to get as many runs as people think we're going to get in this game.
03:43Yanks looking to stay in the playoff race.
03:45Of course, they're going to make the playoffs, but maybe they can make a charge to take down Toronto if Toronto does stumble down the final two weeks of the season.
03:50But they're going to be in Minnesota tonight.
03:52And on the mound, it's Carlos Rodon, the left-handed pitcher, going up against Simeon Woods Richardson.
03:55Not a great pitcher by any stretch.
03:57That eight and a half totals, they're up to nines across the board.
04:00You take a look at the favorite here, close to a $2 favorite for the Yankees.
04:04As you see the placard there at a minus $1.94 price.
04:08The one thing I do know tonight is we're probably going to get runs, and it's going to come from the New York Yankees.
04:12That's my angle.
04:14Yankees score tonight, but I don't know if I want to lay the close to $2 price with them.
04:19So, the Twins in the second half this year, 18 and 35 with a negative 81 run differential.
04:26Yeah, I'll take the Yankees on the run line.
04:29I might even alt-line it here, Donnie.
04:31Give me maybe two runs here for the Yankees to win this one.
04:35How about that?
04:36Let's get to a playoff race here as well.
04:38One would have thought Arizona would be in the playoff race.
04:40They are not.
04:41Zach Allen's going to take the mound going up against San Francisco's.
04:43Mr. Tang, nine and a half to nines across the board, but a favorite towards Arizona.
04:48The reason we bring that up this year is the Diamondbacks are only two games back of the wild card.
04:54The Giants only one and a half game back of the wild card.
04:57And I look at this and say to myself, there's no way Arizona can make it.
04:59Like, I just don't understand this team and the concept of trading away your players and still playing good baseball.
05:04Legitimate chances.
05:05Like, the Mets continue to stumble.
05:07This is a huge series for both of these two teams.
05:11It really is.
05:12I mean, and listen, they just gave up a whole lot of touchdowns in two games against the Dodgers here.
05:25Zach Allen, listen, he's had his tough moments this season early on.
05:29But as of late, the big reason why they're that close, Donnie, is he's actually not been terrible here.
05:35They just lost two of three in San Francisco last week.
05:39The Diamondbacks did.
05:40I think they start this series off with a win here tonight.
05:43My goodness.
05:44And by the way, Texas and Houston.
05:46The Battle of Texas.
05:47Well, that's a problem.
05:49No, it's not.
05:49The race isn't over.
05:50You look at the wild card race.
05:52Right now at the season end of the day, Houston is in as a wild card.
05:54Only two games back is the Texas Rangers.
05:57Jack Letters on the mound going up against Alexander here for Houston.
06:00Slight favor towards Houston around a minus 125 price, depending on what place you're shopping at.
06:05And a total of eight and a half.
06:07If you say Texas sweeps this, they're in the playoffs and the Astros are out waking up from the dead.
06:14Some of these baseball teams in the late parts of the season, Joe.
06:18Keep in mind, too, here, if the Rangers, who I believe they've played 10 games, they're up 6-4 in the season series.
06:27They win one game, Donnie.
06:30They win the tiebreaker.
06:32And that could very well be important here against this Houston team.
06:36So this is a huge series for the Rangers.
06:39No doubt about it.
06:40Same thing with the Cincinnati Reds here going up against Libertor and the Cardinals are basically dead in the water.
06:44But Cincinnati trying to chase down the New York Mets, if they can, roughly a pick them across multiple outlets here.
06:50And a side, excuse me, a total, I should say, listed at eight and a half.
06:54So even though we are focused on a doubleheader for Monday Night Football, Major League Baseball bringing a little bit of a powder keg tonight.
07:02Love to see it.
07:03That's what we do here.
07:04Let's continue to have more fun on the early line coming up next.
07:14We were one and one combined on Friday, Joe.
07:16UCLA, I don't know what the heck they were doing, but certainly throwing in the towel.
07:19For me, it was the Milwaukee Brewers over four and a half.
07:22Absolutely crushed that team total.
07:24So one and one as a team, two and oh is the goal tonight.
07:27So Joe Ranieri, for the people on a Monday, where are you going to make some extra cash tonight?
07:33I am going to go back to the Diamond and Major League Baseball because we got a couple of huge series here in the final two-week stretch.
07:42And there's none bigger, I think, than the one out west with the Dodgers and the Phillies here, where the Phillies, with a win, yep, they break out the champagne.
07:52They clinch themselves the east.
07:55They end up not having to worry about it the rest of the way.
07:58The Dodgers coming in hot, but I love this pitching battle here tonight.
08:04Both of these teams, this could be a preview.
08:06It's going to be a playoff atmosphere tonight.
08:08Sheehan has been outstanding for the Dodgers here down the stretch.
08:13But you know what?
08:14So is Ranger Suarez.
08:16He has been absolutely lights out.
08:19The Phillies are going to need him to be.
08:20It wasn't a shock that they lost to the Royals yesterday, knowing the Dodgers were on deck.
08:25The Dodgers beat up some bad, giant pitching over the last couple of days.
08:30I don't think that continues here against Suarez tonight.
08:34I'm going to cut the game in half.
08:35I'm going to go under four and a half runs in the first five, Donnie.
08:39I think this is a bit of a pitcher's battle early on in this game.
08:43Takes five to beat you there.
08:45And by the way, four and a half is a key number for me.
08:47Why?
08:47Because I'm going to go here to the Twin Cities.
08:49It's the New York Yankees taking on the Minnesota Twins.
08:51Rodon versus Simeon Woods-Richardson.
08:53A heavy favorite for the Yankees, but that's not where I'm going tonight.
08:56I take a look at Woods-Richardson's last 60 days in Major League Baseball.
08:59Joe, a 164 ERA minus, a FIP of 161, an XFIP of minus 130, an ERA of close to seven,
09:08and a Sierra at five even.
09:10Runs will come the way of the New York Yankees tonight.
09:13So I took an all-team total.
09:15I didn't want to go five and a half at plus money because that takes six runs.
09:19Can they get that tonight?
09:19I think they can, but I took it the opposite direction.
09:22I'll pay a little juice here.
09:23Four and a half as a team total at a minus 148 price.
09:26Simple layman's terms, get the five runs, cash in this ticket.
09:30I think they can do it.
09:31And also, oh, Minnesota, it's September.
09:32It's probably going to be a little bit cold.
09:34There's PC Richard.
09:35They love it right now.
09:36No strikeouts.
09:37No strikeouts.
09:38Only home runs.
09:3980 degrees in the Twin Cities tonight.
09:40The Yanks light up the night, Joe, with five runs from me.
