00:00Welcome to NFL kickoff presented by YouTube TV set to go here at Lucas Oil Stadium the Colts won the toss and they elected to receive as Edren James gets us going and Daniel Jones will take the field first for the Colts.
00:27Shane Steichen year number three as the Indianapolis head coach very interesting he took the ball guys they you know on winning the toss taking the ball I have a feeling he feels really good about Daniel Jones and wants to push it early has some ball plays he wants called.
00:47Allie Patterson kicks it away Ashton Doolin on the return underway in Indianapolis and Doolin nearly broke free a 27 yard return as we say hello to AJ Ross.
01:01Andrew it's been 11 years since the Colts last won an opener and they're looking to change that today by creating an edge and playing aggressive on both sides of the ball.
01:09They led the league last year in 13 games decided by one possession.
01:13So same second was very intentional with their conditioning during the offseason getting in an extra 400 team reps.
01:19He says this team this year is in great physical shape and they have the great great mindset to win guys.
01:26AJ thank you so much as the Colts open up on first down and 10 they go right to the air Daniel Jones to Tyler Warren and a huge ovation from the fans Warren the first round pick we talked about in the open immediate fan favorite.
01:44I look at that right there and you said it Charles a chance to take the ball and be aggressive play action on the first place you want to slow down those edge rushers Jalen Phillips right there caught in a situation where you want to rush but Tyler Warren goes the block releases to the flat and a nice pickup on first down and you get an easy completion for your new quarterback 14 yard game back to the air and that pass sails over the head of Michael Pittman.
02:14That looked like the pitcher trying to throw it on the slow roller you got all the time in the world and it just sailed on and Dana Jones said let's get that out of the way.
02:26We're looking at now we want to watch the matchups to look at it's going to be these offensive tackles for the Indianapolis Colts against the rush that Anthony Riever the defensive coordinator dials up for the Miami Dolphins.
02:37Can they keep Daniel Jones upright throughout this afternoon?
02:40Jones back to the air over the middle he's got Warren again and Warren picks up eight yards so Tyler Warren Shane Steichen telling us they put a lot on his plate for rookies been able to digest it all.
02:57And that's the big thing for a tight end a lot of it is you're involved in all of the blocking schemes you're involved in the passing schemes so it's a ton to learn.
03:04They wanted to take it slow but he's been so good with understanding it all they've been able to push him out there.
03:16Third down and two for Indianapolis.
03:18Jones keeps it throws it to Pittman for the first down great job by Daniel Jones Jack Jones forces Pittman out of bounds but a first down for the Colts a gain of 14.
03:37So how about the strategy coming out right out of the gate you got a brand new quarterback who won a big battle for the position a lot of discussion a lot of talk who should be the quarterback.
03:46And you got Jonathan Taylor ran for over 1,400 yards last year and the only touch he's had so far is on fakes.
03:53Right now the Colts operating smoothly but expect Taylor to touch it soon.
03:57Four plays four passes for the Colts.
04:0453, 53, 53, 53.
04:08Blake Lockett 2.
04:10Jones has time good protection.
04:13He's got a wide open Warren and Tyler Warren down to the 11-yard line.
04:19Minka Fitzpatrick on the tackle but it's been the rookie Tyler Warren taking over on this opening drive.
04:26A few things on this play guys.
04:28The protection excellent up front.
04:30Has plenty of time to let this develop.
04:32And a little stick nod to the outside and puts it right on Tyler Warren.
04:37That was a play they ran in the preseason and Daniel Jones missed it down the field to Tyler Warren.
04:43A slow developing play to your point Charles.
04:45That protection was excellent.
04:48He's a guy you can see why they're pushing the ball to him so quickly to begin this season.
04:53From the 11-yard line.
04:55And finally Jonathan Taylor with a touch.
04:58Trying to left side and gets just inside the 10-yard line.
05:01I think for Daniel Jones this drive couldn't have started any better.
05:07And that was the one thing Shane Steichen told us when we talked to him this weekend where he said
05:11one of the best things Daniel Jones does is play action.
05:14Yep.
05:14And you start this game off and you put him in situations where
05:17Michael Pittman's in the backfield.
05:19He's leaking out.
05:20Tyler Warren's blocking.
05:21Then he's releasing.
05:22You're getting him comfortable in these plays to set him up for later on in this game.
05:26On second down Jones looking left throws left to the end zone and it is incomplete intended for Alec Pierce.
05:41And the coverage on the play by Storm Duck of the Dolphins.
05:46Storm Duck has been thrusted into the number one role for the Miami Dolphins.
05:50And this right here is a good job by him.
05:53In the red zone you always hear DB coaches and different people saying,
05:56oh, he gets away with a little tug there.
05:57But you always say turn and look for the ball.
05:59But right here, down here in the end zone, you want to play through the receiver.
06:03And he's able to do that.
06:04Keep himself between the ball and the man and forcing incompletion.
06:11On third down and eight.
06:15Jones sitting in the pocket.
06:17Now rolling right.
06:18He can run.
06:19He will run.
06:21He takes a big hit from Matthew Chudon.
06:26Chudon signed in the middle of August and he makes a big play for Miami on third down.
06:31Chudon finished off with a big hit.
06:33But, Jason, I thought the key to the play was the Miami defenders not buying the ball fakes of Daniel Jones.
06:40When he gets out in the open field, now he gives the ball up to pump fake.
06:42Pump fake.
06:43Pump fake.
06:43Notice how they stayed?
06:44They didn't immediately go to Daniel Jones.
06:47If they had, he had an easy throw for a touchdown.
06:49That's a very good point.
06:50With a quarterback that can move in the pocket, that's something that you always talk about.
06:53We call it the plastering in that secondary.
06:56Making sure you're sticking with your guy.
06:58Spencer Schrader, a 24-yard field goal attempt.
07:01And it's good.
07:02So the Colts march down the field, an eight-play drive, but they come up short at the 10-yard line.
07:10Settle for three.
07:12That's three-nothing Colts.
07:16At Burger King, celebrities the way you rule.
07:20Modelo, the mark of a fighter.
07:24And by Liberty Mutual Insurance.
07:27Only pay for what you need.
07:32Beautiful day in Indianapolis, and the Colts jump out to a three-nothing lead.
07:38Tua Tungabailoa set to come out for Miami, entering year number six.
07:44And last year led the NFL in completion percentage at 72%.
07:49I thought the Colts showed a lot of trust in Daniel Jones right out of the gate.
07:56Showed that they had confidence in him.
07:58Eager to see what Mike McDaniel wants to do with Tua coming right out here in his first drive.
08:03D. Eskridge on the return from Miami, trying to get to the outside.
08:07Eskridge has a head of steam.
08:08And a good return by D. Eskridge.
08:13He gives Miami great starting field position to open up their first drive.
08:18He takes it back 37 yards.
08:20It caught everyone's attention when he came out of Western Michigan, his ability to return the football.
08:24And I hope he's okay as he's a little shaken up on the sideline here.
08:31He gets to the sideline.
08:32Rodney Thomas shoves him right as he gets to the sideline.
08:37Gives him quite the tumble, and that's why he's getting a little attention on the sideline.
08:42Miami will start this drive at its own 45-yard line.
08:45And he moves into Colts territory across midfield, and a gain of eight on first down.
09:00Cameron Bynum on the tackle.
09:02All right, who should we keep an eye on today, guys?
09:05Well, when the Miami Dolphins offense has talked about getting down the field all offseason,
09:09look for Tyreek Hill matched up with Traverius Ward, the new corner for the Indianapolis Colts.
09:14There will be a lot of man-to-man and opportunities for those guys to go at.
09:18Right at the top of the screen.
09:19There they are.
09:21Tua over the middle.
09:22Tyreek Hill has the catch and the first down.
09:25For the Indianapolis 42-yard line, Zaire Franklin on the tackle for the Colts.
09:31And, Charles, I think you mentioned this a little bit before.
09:34It's important to get your guys going early on in the game,
09:37and a nice, easy completion to Tyreek Hill right there.
09:40It gets his juices flowing for week one.
09:42It makes him feel like he's involved in his game plan.
09:45And they need to take care of Jalen Waddell the same way.
09:47Last year in this game, both of them only had one catch apiece.
09:51Hill's coming very late in the game.
09:54In October of last year.
09:57And the Colts were ready for that run.
09:59Quidipe leading the charge.
10:01There's Lou Anarumo, who spent six years with the Dolphins,
10:12including as their interim defensive coordinator in 2015.
10:17We asked Shane Steichen in the offseason what stood out about Anarumo,
10:21and he said,
10:21I thought about guys who give offensive coordinators headaches,
10:24and he's the first name that came to mind.
10:27Meanwhile, James Daniels is down on one knee,
10:31the Dolphins' starting right guard,
10:33who was questionable to play today
10:35after he suffered an ankle injury in practice this week.
10:38We asked Mike McDaniel about Daniels in our meeting last night,
10:46and he said,
10:46yeah, he's going to start.
10:48Injured his ankle in practice on Thursday.
10:52It was the left ankle for Daniels.
10:55And Zia Akeon Smith has come in to take his spot at right guard.
11:00On second down and 12.
11:02Tungabailoa, quick pass.
11:03There's Jalen Waddell,
11:04immediately met by Charverius Ward.
11:06A gain of four on the play,
11:08and it brings up third down.
11:10We talked about Lou Anarumo coming over as a defensive coordinator,
11:14and already you're seeing a different look.
11:16Look at all of these guys at the line of scrimmage.
11:18It looks like they're coming,
11:19but when the ball snaps,
11:20they're getting out to a form of cover two
11:22with two safeties deep
11:24and forcing two to throw the ball underneath.
11:26So that's Lou Anarumo with the disguise
11:28and the movement of his defense.
11:31Third down and eight.
11:32These Colts fans making some noise.
11:34HN at the top of your screen.
11:35Tungabailoa looking for Tyree Kill.
11:38Too high and picked off.
11:40Cameron Bynum on the interception.
11:43And HN makes the tackle.
11:46Tua sailed that throw,
11:48and it's a takeaway for the Colts defense.
11:54Andrew, I wish I could tell you what that dance is,
11:57but I am not familiar with that at all.
12:00Charles, what a way to start the game for this defense.
12:02And that is so, Cam Bynum,
12:03and we know how much Lou Anarumo loves his safeties.
12:06He wants them to be a double play combination.
12:08Shortstop second baseman,
12:10unconscious confidence with each other.
12:12What a great start for them.
12:13Late flag.
12:14The play was over.
12:15Personal foul.
12:16Unnecessary roughness.
12:17Intercepting team number 44.
12:19That 15-yard penalty is assessed at the end of the play.
12:23It's first down, Indianapolis.
12:25Timeout.
12:26That's on Zaire Franklin.
12:29But Cameron Bynum with his ninth career interception
12:32in his first season with the Colts.
12:35Bynum with the takeaway.
12:36Welcome to Visible.
12:42And by Verizon.
12:44The NFL is powered by Verizon 5G.
12:54Some of the great Colts quarterbacks over the years,
12:57including Peyton Manning, who is here today.
13:00And he will be a part of the ceremony at halftime
13:02where the late Jim Ursae will be inducted
13:05into the Colts' ring of honor.
13:08So after the takeaway,
13:09the Colts take over at the 16-yard line.
13:11Jones to the air on first down.
13:13Has time.
13:14Now scrambling out.
13:16Nowhere to go.
13:17He's just escorted out of bounds by Minka Fitzpatrick.
13:21Let's go back to the INT.
13:23What's interesting, Jason, as we watch this,
13:26as he curls inside, right there.
13:29We thought the underneath defender, Nick Cross,
13:31might have had a chance at a play,
13:33and it just wasn't there.
13:34I think that that ball just sailed on Tua.
13:36He had an open receiver.
13:37Normally he's a dart thrower.
13:39That ball is usually completed.
13:40I would agree.
13:41And those are the Tua throws we've come to appreciate,
13:43those inside breaking routes that he throws so accurate
13:46and with anticipation.
13:47Hey, it's week one, still getting the cobwebs off as well.
13:50Cam Bynum, the free agent acquisition,
13:52paying dividends early.
13:54Ashton Doolin in motion, handoff to Taylor.
13:56And Taylor is bottled up.
13:58And a good tackle there by Tyrell Dotson.
14:01Back to New York, NFL Today Update.
14:04Here's Adam Schein.
14:08Hello, Andrew.
14:09You asked for it, you got it.
14:12Aaron Rodgers, first touchdown pass
14:14as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers
14:16to Benny Skoranek.
14:187-3 Steelers.
14:19Andrew, back to you.
14:22All right, Adam, thank you very much.
14:24Good start for the Steelers.
14:26I thought Skoranek only blocked.
14:28As the Colts are looking at third down and three.
14:32Taylor next to Jones.
14:37Jones, again, good protection.
14:38Takes the check down to Taylor.
14:39And Jonathan Taylor picks up the first down.
14:43Pinballed forward for the first.
14:45Zach Seeler on the tackle.
14:47A game of six.
14:48I like the coverage here by Miami.
14:54Yes, they end up with a first down.
14:56But you notice he went through the progressions, Jason,
14:58and then ended up having to check it down.
14:59Jonathan Taylor got this on his own.
15:01And that's where he's so special.
15:03So much space to pick up the first down,
15:04making a guy or two miss.
15:06He's right there.
15:06Back to Taylor.
15:10And Taylor, extra effort gets a couple.
15:13You've got to say, so far, you look at this Indianapolis Colts offensive line.
15:17Tanner Bordellini starting at center.
15:19Matt Gonsalves at right guard.
15:21They lost Ryan Kelly and Will Fries in free agency.
15:24They've given Daniel Jones a nice pocket in this first quarter.
15:26They have.
15:27No one has come close to him.
15:28And this is a Dolphins front that we think is going to be really good
15:31with Zach Sealer in the middle and then the guys they have on the outside.
15:35The core of that inside.
15:36Obviously, Quentin Nelson is a veteran there.
15:38Those other two guys inexperienced have held their own.
15:41Yeah, the inside guys.
15:42The center and the right guard are the biggest question.
15:44What do we need to do with Dolphins?
15:46Second down and seven.
15:47Josh Downs is his first catch.
15:49And very close to a first down.
15:51We'll see where they spot it for the third-year man out of UNC,
15:55Kenneth Grant, on the tackle.
15:57Guys, I had a chance to talk with Daniel Jones' personal quarterback,
16:01coach David Morris, and, of course, his guru, David Cutcliffe.
16:05And I asked him, what are we going to see if he's really humming
16:07and operating on high?
16:09And both of them said, after his work in the offseason,
16:13getting his confidence back,
16:15when he goes back and hits that back foot and really rips one,
16:18that's when they'll know that he's really back into it.
16:20Right now, I feel like he's close, but not quite there.
16:23He's taking the check down.
16:24But eventually, if you want to see him rip one in the seams.
16:27Third down and one.
16:28And they give it to Warren, and he's got the first down.
16:33Well, Shane Steichen said you're going to see him all over the field today.
16:37And so far, that's proven to be true as Tyler Warren runs for a first down.
16:42Charles, you said it early on.
16:43This guy was going to be lined up all over the place.
16:46And he did a lot of that at Penn State with the ball in his hands.
16:49A fullback belly, we like to call it,
16:51getting him the ball right up the gut for a first down.
16:54You think somewhere the Penn State coaches have big grins on their faces right now,
16:57like, you know, we were doing all that.
16:59That's why you have it in your offense.
17:01Four touches in the first quarter for Tyler Warren.
17:06Now Taylor up the middle.
17:07He's got some room.
17:08Jonathan Taylor into Miami territory.
17:11And good for another Colts first down.
17:13A gain of 13.
17:13Jason, you just talked about this offensive line
17:17and what was happening with the new guys.
17:19Certainly looked like they cleared some space.
17:21Take a look here.
17:22There's Bordellini.
17:23There's Gonzalez.
17:24Take a look at the two new guys and look at what they get done.
17:26Look at Bordellini.
17:27Ride him out of there.
17:28Gonzalez, 71, gets to the second level.
17:30Puts a nice block on number 20, Jordan Brooks.
17:33Great.
17:33Lots of daylight for Jonathan Taylor.
17:35Taylor again, and he slips.
17:48Lost his footing and picks up a yard.
17:50Let's check in with A.J. Ross.
17:52Andrew, just moments ago, Dolphins right guard James Daniels
17:55was seen walking to the locker room.
17:57I'm being told he is questionable with a pec injury.
18:00It's not his ankle, guys.
18:01That's a tough one, A.J., because, Jason,
18:05you've seen it throughout your career.
18:07Those big guys, with all the heavy lifting they're doing
18:09and the force that they're playing with,
18:12pecs often become an area that you're of concern.
18:20180.
18:22Second down, Jones.
18:26O'Gates, Taylor.
18:27Taylor turns it upfield.
18:28Jonathan Taylor with good blocking.
18:30Tyler Warren was out in front blocking
18:33and another first down for the Colts, a gain of 17.
18:37What I do love of what we've seen from Daniel Jones so far
18:40is Anthony Weaver has been moving the coverage on him
18:43after the snap, simulated pressure there,
18:45and he's been comfortable and confident to say,
18:47you know what, we may want to be aggressive.
18:49We may want to get the ball downfield.
18:51They're taking it away from us.
18:53I'm just going to check the ball down
18:54and get the ball to our best player on offense
18:56and Jonathan Taylor.
18:57And that's what Shane Steichen has wanted to see
18:59from that quarterback position.
19:01Big plays are one thing,
19:02but consistently making the right decision
19:04is what Daniel Jones is doing so far.
19:07Tenth play of the drive on the ground with Taylor.
19:11And Taylor stretches out to the 25.
19:13You know, when we met with Shane Steichen on Friday,
19:16he said one of our big keys this year
19:19is focusing on scoring points after turnovers.
19:23Last year, the Colts had 11 games
19:26where they did not score any points off turnovers.
19:29That was a priority in training camp,
19:32and this is after a two-a-pick,
19:34Colts trying to score points and add to their lead.
19:36I.J. talked about the 400 extra reps
19:39they got during training camp.
19:40I bet plenty of them were on
19:42after a sudden change,
19:43after a takeaway,
19:44can we score points?
19:46Taylor again up the middle.
19:49Judon wraps him up just short of a first down.
19:52It'll be third down and short.
19:54You can always count on Sundays
19:59with the NFL on CBS and Paramount+.
20:03Approaching one minute to go in the first quarter.
20:09Third and one.
20:10Last time we saw Tyler Warren line up in the backfield,
20:12and they handed him off the ball.
20:14You've got to imagine there's going to be something off of that
20:16if he's in that position again
20:18where now Jonathan Taylor can get involved
20:20and maybe a fake to him and a pitch to the outside,
20:23something of that nature.
20:24Go, go, go, go.
20:26Right.
20:27180.
20:29Jones trying to do it himself, and he does.
20:33And now nine of the 12 plays on this drive
20:36have come on the ground for Indianapolis.
20:41And if Shane Steichen has one of those dagger shots here,
20:45Jason, that he really likes,
20:47this is your time to do it.
20:48First down,
20:50got the ball a little bit outside,
20:51you know, the, excuse me,
20:52a little bit inside the red zone.
20:54You haven't got your wide receivers really involved in this game yet.
20:57He's got something he really likes.
20:59Got Pierce at the top looking like he's got man coverage.
21:02See if you try to feed him the football.
21:05Colts with 129 yards of offense in the first quarter to 15 for Miami.
21:11Jones with pressure coming.
21:13Flag is down and so is Daniel Jones.
21:15Taken down by Bradley Chubb, who missed all of last year,
21:19recovering from that devastating knee injury.
21:22And it's a penalty call against the Colts.
21:26Our referee today is Brad Allen.
21:29Anthony Weaver, the defensive coordinator,
21:31certainly had an idea that they might want to take a shot.
21:33He had his guys ready for that one.
21:38Holding.
21:39Offense number 79.
21:41That penalty's declined.
21:42He's up second down.
21:44It's on the left tackle Bernard Ryman,
21:46who signed a big extension in July.
21:48Loss of 10 on that play.
21:50And he had a one-on-one opportunity right there with Bradley Chubb
21:54and just gets beat on the inside
21:56and couldn't do anything with it
21:58and had to try to grab a hold on there.
22:00And that is how the first quarter will come to a close.
22:05Colts dominating in the stat sheet,
22:07but on the scoreboard, a 3-0 lead.
22:10You're watching week one of the NFL on CBS.

22:3560 Minutes.
22:3660 Minutes!
22:3760 Minutes.
22:38...Sunday, September 28th on CBS.
22:40How about that?
22:43Justin Hartley returns.
22:46In Tracker.
22:48New season Sunday, October 19th.
22:50Part of CBS Premiere Week.
22:55Start of the second quarter here in Indianapolis
22:58and the Colts lead 3-0.
23:00Indy had the ball for 12 and a half minutes
23:03in the opening quarter.
23:06Driving again after a two-a-took of a low interception.
23:13Jones.
23:15Big time.
23:15Touch pass.
23:16He's got a man.
23:16Pittman!
23:18Touchdown!
23:21Michael Pittman in the end zone.
23:23And the Colts take a 9-0 lead.
23:28And the Colts take a 9-0 lead.
23:29And the Colts take a 9-0 lead.
23:30And the Colts take a 9-0 lead.
23:31And the Colts take a 9-0 lead.
23:40Jason, they were wondering about the confidence level
23:42because he got beat up a little bit in New York.
23:44Talking about Daniel Jones.
23:45When did we see it come back out?
23:47I feel like this throw tells me
23:49he's doing pretty good about himself.
23:50Absolutely.
23:51And what was beautiful for one is right on the running
23:54for Pittman to haul it in.
23:55But just his patience to get the ball there.
23:58Really nice to see from Daniel Jones.
24:00Spencer Schrader with the extra point for Pittman.
24:03It's his first touchdown at home since October of 2023.
24:09It all started with the Tunga Bailoa interception.
24:12And then Daniel Jones, a beautiful pass.
24:15We'll be back in 30 seconds after this.
24:20This is a public service announcement to anyone out there.
24:23Come get cooked, I'm telling you.
24:27It's a W for us, a big win.
24:28This is what I'm telling you.
24:29Ready, break.
24:45We got next.
24:55Daniel Jones with his first touchdown pass
24:58is a member of the Indianapolis Colts.
25:01And we said it before,
25:02but a priority was put on scoring points after turnovers.
25:06So far, so good for Indianapolis.
25:08Yeah, they even had a penalty.
25:09You know, would have been a holding penalty,
25:11but the sack by Bradley Chubb settled back.
25:13But that didn't stop him.
25:14Came right back at him and got him again.
25:18On that drive, the Colts were three for three on third down.
25:22As Malik Washington is on the return for Miami on this kickoff.
25:25Across the 30, it's still going up to the 38-yard line.
25:30Let's take another look at that touchdown pass from Jones to Pittman.
25:34And Charles, you continue to talk about it.
25:36They're going to go cover, too.
25:37This safety is going to get to the half field.
25:39And now for the corner on the outside,
25:41you have to protect your safety
25:43and get back vertical here to help him out.
25:45He doesn't do it.
25:47Belafonbu comes off of his landmark
25:49thinking that he has to get to the middle on the tight end.
25:52That opens up the outside.
25:53That's a great job by Daniel Jones
25:55of manipulating the safeties to get him to go where you want.
25:58And if you're not going to sink,
25:59you've got to get hands on him and disrupt the route.
26:01That didn't happen as well.
26:02Georg Smith remains the right guard for the inch of James Daniels.
26:06H-hand on the first down.
26:08H-hand finds an opening in the Indianapolis defense.
26:12Bynum on the tackle.
26:14And a big drive here for Miami.
26:17Trying to get on track for Mike McDaniel now in his fourth year.
26:20And guys, Jalen Waddell, no touches yet thus far.
26:24I don't want to over-hype this,
26:27but last year those two, Waddell and Tyreek Hill,
26:30one catch-a-piece in the game,
26:32he's got to kill him behind his offense.
26:34Too in trouble, he lost the football!
26:37And the Colts have it!
26:39And it's the former Dolphin, Xavier Howard,
26:42who recovers the loose ball.
26:44Kenny Moore knocked it out,
26:46and it's another turnover for Tua.
26:49.
26:56Movement, disguise, aggression.
26:58The Colts are on at early.
27:00.
27:02Two turnovers in the last three snaps for Tunga Bailoa.
27:07.
27:11...host the iconic, most unpredictable music event
27:14right here on CBS Live after the game.
27:18The ladies love Cool James.
27:21.
27:23So Indianapolis has run 22 plays.
27:26The Dolphins have a total of 19 yards in this game.
27:30And great field position after the most recent Tua Tunga Bailoa turnover.
27:35Another opportunity to attack.
27:37.
27:39Play fake to Taylor.
27:40Jones on the sideline.
27:42He's got a man.
27:43Adonai Mitchell was the inbounds.
27:46Yes!
27:48A catch for A.D. Mitchell.
27:50Now the Colts will try to go quickly and snap the ball before Miami can potentially
27:55challenge if it stands an 18-yard gain.
27:59.
28:01Down to Sarah Thomas was right on the sideline and was emphatic with her call.
28:05Jones right back to the air.
28:07Mo'Ali Cox at the 15.
28:09He's come back at the 10.
28:10The big man down to the 5.
28:14.
28:16Minka Fitzpatrick on the tackle, but it's first and goal for the Colts.
28:21One thing they talked to us about in our meeting was in the offseason a lot of times the guys would
28:25get together and play some hoops, right?
28:27And they said Daniel Jones would show up and play and he was killing them from the low block.
28:31Today, he's playing point guard.
28:33And he is dealing and distributing.
28:36.
28:38Taylor.
28:40And he gets down to the 2.
28:43I like how they're moving with quickness and speed, getting to the line of scrimmage, Jason,
28:47and keeping them back on their heels.
28:49Yeah, there's a rhythm for this offense right now.
28:51And you've got to think about it for Miami as we're watching A.D. Mitchell on the sideline.
28:55He gets that foot and that knee, which now counts as two feet.
28:59You've got to look at the ball placement and everything, but that's why you go fast.
29:02You don't give them a chance to challenge that.
29:04And this Colts offense right now is in rhythm and they are moving this ball any of which way they want.
29:10I like how you're going to pull John Madden there.
29:12.
29:13Warren again lines up in front of Taylor.
29:17Overtree in motion.
29:19Taylor to the right side.
29:21Good tackle made by Dante Schrader.
29:24The rookie safety out of Maryland.
29:26Know something?
29:27Know if I'm Shane Steichen calling plays?
29:29I make him prove it again.
29:31I make him prove it.
29:32Keep making him prove it.
29:34To me, this is four down territory if I'm the Colts.
29:36I'm not even thinking about a field goal right now.
29:38I love that you say that.
29:39The way they're operating, the way that they're going with it.
29:41Wait, no.
29:42Right now you're thinking two more plays.
29:44What is it going to take to get it in?
29:46Unless they have a big loss on this play, I'm coming right back at them.
29:50Third and goal for the Colts.
29:53Jones trying to do it himself.
29:55Daniel Jones fighting.
29:57He's in.
29:58Touchdown.
29:5916-0 in favor of Indianapolis with the extra point to come.
30:14And they have just dominated this first half against Miami.
30:18And even better, the center Tanner Bortolini, 60.
30:22And Matt Gonsalves, the new right guard, 71.
30:25Key factors in that last play, getting the ball into the end zone.
30:29That helps steady those young guys early in this ball game.
30:33Two touchdowns in the last two minutes and 53 seconds for the Colts.
30:37And now Schrader on to attempt the extra point.
30:42And it is good.
30:45188 yards of offense for the Colts in this first half.
30:49Shane Steichen has been dialing up a masterpiece so far.
30:5517-0 Indy.
30:5617-0 Indy.
30:58All right, ladies.
31:01Next stop, laundry room.
31:03Just everything.
31:04Allstate.
31:06You're in good hands.
31:09And by Ram Trucks.
31:12Nothing stops Ram.
31:14Back in Indianapolis for week one.
31:22And the Colts have a 17-0 lead on the Dolphins.
31:26Remember, as A.J. Ross told us, the Colts have not won on opening day since 2013.
31:3411 straight season openers without a win.
31:39Washington on the return.
31:42Washington is stopped short of the 25-yard lines.
31:47We check in with A.J. Ross.
31:48Andrew, I can tell you Tyreek Hill was visibly frustrated and very vocal after that last Miami turnover.
31:54Telling his teammates, wake up.
31:55It's time to go.
31:56And when we spoke with him in our meetings this week, he told us about his year of reflection
32:00and what type of leader he wanted to be on his team.
32:03And he said he needed to mature and really buy into what Mike McDaniel was trying to accomplish.
32:07And he's showing some of that on the sidelines, guys.
32:10We had a long chat with Tyreek Hill last night.
32:14And as A.J. said, he called it a harvest offseason.
32:18A year of reflection.
32:20More on that in a second.
32:22He's coming to Bailoa is nearly picked off again.
32:26Intended that pass for Alec Ingold.
32:28But back to Tyreek, he said that he took time in the offseason to think about what really matters to him.
32:34What is his legacy going to be?
32:36And he said he asked himself, is he going to continue with the shenanigans or is he going to mature?
32:41And he said he spent a lot of time with his kids in the offseason.
32:45And he wanted them to see him as a good dad.
32:49And that is now his focus.
32:50He wants to be a great example for his kids.
32:52And Tua Tungabailoa said that he had a barbecue for his teammates over the summer.
32:57He said in the past Tyreek probably wouldn't come and maybe would come for a minute.
33:01Tyreek was at all the barbecues with his kids.
33:04And Tua said he was proud of Tyreek for the changes he is starting to make.
33:09And here is Tyreek Hill with his 800th career reception.
33:14A gain of 11.
33:17And I love to see the emotion from him on the sideline.
33:20When you start a game like this and you start your season the way they have with two early turnovers,
33:25you need someone to step up and say, you know what, put it on me.
33:28Give me the ball.
33:29Let me get us out of this funk and bring the energy.
33:32And he did that on that last play.
33:34Getting open.
33:35But then finishing the run.
33:36Getting up the field and putting his shoulder down.
33:46Tanner Conner in motion.
33:48Each hand gets the call here and is stuffed at the line of scrimmage.
33:52We go back to New York.
33:54NFL Today update with Adam Schein.
33:56Look at this.
33:57A Braylon Allen touchdown run.
33:59Eight yards.
34:01Nice job by the Jets.
34:0316-10.
34:05They're leading the Pittsburgh Steelers.
34:06Andrew, back to you.
34:08Wow.
34:09Aaron Glenn's debut as head coach with the Jets.
34:12Jason Braylon Allen.
34:14That's a full grown man.
34:15Oh, man.
34:16He's young.
34:17He's like 21.
34:18He was 20 when he came into the league.
34:19I looked at him.
34:20I said, that man has been mature for a long time.
34:23His parents had to have had his birth certificate laminated when he was in Little League.
34:288-10 again.
34:29And once again, no game for HN.
34:33It'll be third down and long for the Dolphins.
34:35Nick Cross coming up to make the tackle for Lou Anarumo's Colts defense.
34:40And Jason, this sets things up for Lou Anarumo.
34:42Doesn't it stop and plays on first and second down.
34:45And it does.
34:46And Kenny Moore was all over that play.
34:49And when you say sets up on all, now on third down for Lou Anarumo, who they call the mad scientist.
34:54This is when he's able to get in the lab.
34:56When he's able to show pressure in other places.
34:58Start rotating guys and making it tough on Tua Tungabailoa to know exactly what he's gonna get.
35:03He also enters another safety in the game as Rodney Thomas comes in.
35:08Still with that too high look, they're gonna sit in that a lot today.
35:11Third and long.
35:12Tua over the middle.
35:13It's caught for a first down.
35:14That's a great catch by Tanner Connor.
35:17Just the fourth catch of his career.
35:20A gain of 12.
35:22Jason, they're gonna play a lot of that too high.
35:24But if you have the temerity to go across the middle, there is space there, isn't there?
35:29And that's exactly where Tua wants to go.
35:31And Zaire Franklin there gotta stay inside out as he's going to jam Connor.
35:36Gets a little bit over his skis.
35:37He's able to slip inside.
35:38That's a really good throw from Tua.
35:40And that's what we expect from him.
35:42Those anticipated throws over the middle being on the money.
35:45Conor one of only two healthy tight ends for the Dolphins today.
35:49Darren Waller out with a hip injury.
35:54Tua, pressure coming.
35:55He never saw it.
35:56Nick Cross with the sack.
36:04Jason, how about this?
36:05You would love this one, wouldn't you?
36:06From second level to first level.
36:08Watch Cross because he's gonna just come.
36:11He came from back here and moved there and just ran himself into it.
36:15It's beautiful.
36:16And then when he comes with the pressure, Xavier Howard's moving to a different position.
36:21Now Cam Bynum was moving to a different position.
36:23All of those guys are on one string.
36:25So like you said, once Nick Cross goes from level two to level one, then everybody else is leveling up along with him.
36:32And that creates confusion, not only for Tua, but for the offensive line as well.
36:36And now with the play clock winding down, the Dolphins are forced to call a timeout.
36:40And the fans here in Indianapolis on their feet.
36:518.19 to go in the first half.
36:53We'll be back in 30 seconds.
36:57Seven dollars for coffee?
36:59Nah.
37:00How about Sonic's salted caramel toffee iced coffee with cold foam for only 2.99?
37:05It's the fancy without the pricey.

37:43NCIS Tony and Ziva now streaming on Paramount+.
37:48Second down and 17.
37:49Tua to Malik Washington.
37:51Blockers ahead.
37:52Washington with a burst of speed into Colts territory.
37:56And that'll make it third and manageable for Miami after a nine-yard gain.
38:01And that'll make it third and a half.
38:02And that'll make it third.
38:03Jason, would you want to try Zavian Howard and see what he has after all this layoff if
38:17you're the Dolphins?
38:18Absolutely.
38:19And those third and nine and what have you so you're not trying to force it.
38:21but if he's ever out in the field i'm going to try and find him and i think he might
38:24there he is i would try and find him and see if he's got it and see how his legs are going to
38:29hold up and i test him throughout this game absolutely and makai back blackman is in the
38:33game as well third down and eight to a pressure coming to a steps up and now he goes down
38:41to forrest buckner was able to get to it to the ground and it's fourth down that's the beauty
38:52they bring in another corner so they have four corners in the game right there they're able to
38:57man up and that now creates space and opportunity for the guys up front of trying to force two to
39:03hold on to the football with nobody open in the back end charles if dr lou gets that front rushing
39:09like that he can play every game possible behind him jake bailey punting to anthony gould awaiting the
39:17punt at his own eight yard line gould calls for a fair catch at the 12 with 6.46 to go in the
