00:00People are recognizing that something special is brewing here in Atlanta.
00:03So Atlanta fans embrace it because it's happening.
00:06Mr. Malek, I'm asking, you just talked about the head coach Raheem Moore.
00:10For people who don't know Raheem on a personal level, you've had this relationship with him going back years.
00:16What is it like to have a guy like Raheem Moore at the Hamilton team?
00:20I think it's great.
00:21I mean, Raheem, when he was with us before for six years, I mean, he did a really fine job as a coach.
00:26Both on the defensive and on the offensive side of the ball and in a variety of ways.
00:31And I think his experience in L.A., working with Coach McVay there and their staff and their organization, getting to the Super Bowl, et cetera, et cetera, I think he learned a lot.
00:42He continued to grow, and I've seen that maturity in him since he's come back here.
00:46And we have a great young general manager, Terry Fontenot, and, you know, we have Father Time, Rich McKay.
00:52Not Father Time.
00:54I'm Father Time.
00:55And my brother, Rich McKay, with his experience, goes back forever.
01:00And we're led on the business side.
01:01We're the team side by Greg Beals, a really brilliant guy who does a wonderful job.
01:07He is rich.
01:07Yeah.
01:09But, you know, Greg Beals has done a fabulous job as our team president and getting more involved in every aspect of the organization.
01:15So, you know, I'm thrilled where we are.
01:17We're going to continue to find ways to be impatient.
01:20We're going to continue to find ways to, how do we get better?
01:23We're going to continue to ask the tough questions and make sure we come up with really good answers.
01:27It's really all in response to the fans.
01:30And the fans, the energy, the passion, the resources, the time they give us is incredible.
01:35And we can't say thank you enough.
01:37And our players feel that way as well.
01:40So, I'm thrilled to be here on behalf of everybody.
01:44And thank you again for this great group up here.
01:47You guys do a fabulous job along with Jen.
01:50And so, appreciate everybody.
01:52Mr. Blake, one last thing I want to add.
01:55You talk about thanking all these other people.
01:58Ko and I are former players in your great organization.
02:02And there are a lot of owners around the league.
02:04But you're one owner who really loves and takes care of his players.
02:07That facility up there now that this team gets to be a part of is quite amazing.
02:12I know they thank you daily for that facility.
02:15Well, you know, the game starts with our, starts with two groups, our players and our fans.
02:23We got to, we got to make sure our players are well taken care of in every single way that they feel like they're listening to and responding to.
02:30That we care about their health and their welfare and their families and their goals in life, professionally and personally as well.
02:37And then we got to make sure that our fans are continuing to understand that we're listening and responding to them in terms of what they're looking for.
02:42So, you know, we will always ask players, I mean, how do we get better?
02:47So, in certain areas last year, the year before last, that the players, you know, and we have a transparent relationship with them.
02:54They said, well, maybe this could be better.
02:56Maybe this could be better.
02:57They gave us very high marks in a lot of areas.
02:59We put, you know, probably 25 million bucks into those areas that the players said could be a little bit better.
03:05And this year they came back and gave us straight A's in all of those things.
03:08So, you know, we want to make sure the players always feel like it's not just a, you know, a play for contract relationship.
03:16It's a relationship that's based on caring for them personally.
03:19Is the good luck strength snaps?
03:24No, just for the moment.
03:26He said, just wait one minute, wait till you get the ball back.
03:29Just for the moment.
03:31So, we want to make sure our players really feel, and I've always had the attitude that, and I've extended this to our, you know, our general manager, our personnel folks, our coaching staff, is that we should always treat the players like they're not under contract.
03:43They always want to create the environment for them where they want to feel like this is the place they want to be.
03:49They want to stay here.
03:50We want to earn that.
03:51We want to earn that respect and that relationship with them every single day, every single year.
03:56So, when the contracts are over, you know, they look at us first.
03:59You know, I want to stay here.
04:01This is where I want to be.
04:01Well, other free agents, years ago when I first bought the club, were not so anxious to come here.
04:06Now, we get free agents.
04:08I mean, we're one of the first top teams of free agents, and their agents connect.
04:11Absolutely.
04:12I appreciate all that.
04:13Thank you so much for joining us.
04:15Thank you for everything you do.
04:16Thank you so much for having me.
04:16God bless you all.
04:17Thank you very much.
04:18Look forward to the season.
04:19Thank you, my friends.
04:20God bless.
04:23Georgia Power is here for you.
04:25That drive by Tennessee.
04:2713 plays, 87 yards, 8 minutes and 14 seconds.
04:31Just 2.35 left here in the third quarter.
04:35As Joey Slide will kick off.
04:41And in the end zone goes D'Alfer.
04:43This will start the drive at the 35 as we check in with Jen Hale.
04:47Coach, Arthur mentioned that NFL PA report card.
04:50Let me take you inside that, explain what that is a little more.
04:54So, players across the league, they rank facility, staff, ownership, so much more in this broad report card that goes out every year.
05:03And the Falcons made a huge jump.
05:05Two years ago, they ranked number 25 out of 32 teams.
05:09Now, for this season, number three overall.
05:13It's really a tremendous improvement.
05:14And when you look at the number of A's, I'd be very happy if my kid brought home this report card.
05:19Treatment of families, food and dining area, nutrition, locker room, all A's.
05:25Training staff, an A-minus.
05:27Strength coach is an A.
05:28There's a new strength and conditioning coach, John Griffin, and he's getting rave reviews.
05:32And then, no big surprise here, both the head coach and ownership with A-pluses.
05:37So, certainly, the players recognize what a great owner they have in Arthur Blank and what it means.
05:44What a privilege it is to get to be here and play as an Atlanta Falcon.
05:48Yeah, one question I have is, if you had A-pluses, how is that second?
05:53What's first?
05:55It's got to be, like, one A and one B.
05:58Got to be.
05:58What is this, like, A-plus honors?
06:02Second down and eight here for the Falcons.
06:05Easton Stick still in there at quarterback.
06:08He'll keep it here.
06:10Easton Stick makes a move.
06:11Slides.
06:12Gets the first down.
06:13The slide started at the 48.
06:15Good athlete, high school track and field star, set multiple school records in the triple jump and the long jump.
06:23He doesn't prefer to pull it down and run with it, but if he sees it, he'll take it.
06:27Had a ton of touchdowns in college as a runner.
06:31And as we've seen throughout this preseason, he is looking good as far as someone, if you need to count on him, he'll be there for you.
06:45And off to nowhere.
06:53Stay up to date with your Atlanta Falcons.
06:55Opt in to SMS to be the first to know about exclusive offers, team news, game day updates, and more.
07:03One minute to go here in the third.
07:05A seven-point game.
07:06Tennessee leading Atlanta.
07:11Sean Corbin.
07:15Now splits out wide, top of your screen.
07:18Empty backfield here for Easton Stick.
07:26Taking a shot.
07:27He's got his man, Chris Blair.
07:29Down the sideline.
07:30Touchdown.
07:3252 yards.
07:33Arthur told you that luck was up for just a bit.
07:42He was right.
07:43He'd come right back and strike.
07:45Now an opportunity to tie this game right back up.
07:49It's safe to say him and Chris Blair have a relationship.
07:52And that's two weeks in a row he's found Chris Blair for a big touchdown in the ballgame.
07:57And this is just a laser of a throw.
07:59Caught the corner sitting just a little bit, looking inside, looking at the quarterback.
08:03And look at this rope of a throw.
08:05Right up between the corner.
08:08Yeah.
08:08Nice job by Blair.
08:09Finish that thing, but an unbelievable throw.
08:12The extra point by Koo.
08:15And we are tied at 20.
08:18Thank Koo very much.
08:20Chris Blair with a touchdown off the exceptional throw from Stick.
08:31Chris Blair, one of those wide receivers in that wide receiver battle.
08:37He has had a nice game this week, just like he had last week.
08:41Manny Craig, Craig, excuse me, on to kick off.
08:46And we're going to have a flag as this one did not travel into that landing zone.
08:52Short free kick by the kicking team.
08:55The ball is placed in the 40-yard line.
08:57It's first down.
08:58That's a big, big penalty right there as it now starts at the 40.
09:02Time for winning in the trenches presented by Georgia Power.
09:05It's been all about the line of scrimmage.
09:06D-line getting physical up up front.
09:08Changing the line of scrimmage.
09:09Getting pressure on the quarterback.
09:10There was Dave Spears forcing the interception.
09:13The defense has shown glimpses the last two weeks of what Jeff Albrecht,
09:17who was the coordinator, wants it to look like, Koi.
09:19And you've got to give these guys a lot of credit for bouncing back the way this game started.
09:24Yeah, Albrecht's defense.
09:25He says, I don't want an identity.
09:28I want us to be able to play multiple ways with the talent we have
09:32and the different types of abilities with a lot of these players.
09:36There's so much he can do, but he wants to keep it simple at the same time.
09:41He wants one man, one gap, get off the ball, and fly.
09:45And we're seeing that speed.
09:47We're seeing that aggressiveness here in this preseason.
09:50Jordan Mims with a run of 12 yards.
09:52A new quarterback, third quarterback of the game in for Tennessee is Trevor Simeon now.
10:02They're going to let the clock run out to end this third quarter.
10:05With the Titans and Falcons tied at 20.
10:12We'll be back after the short timeout for the fourth quarter.
10:20For 17 points in that third quarter, we're tied up at 20 as we enter the fourth.
10:27Simeon handoff to Mims.
10:29Mims and Mims gets wrestled down at the 46 as we go down to Jen Hale
10:35with someone who has deeper Georgia roots than D.J. Shockley.
10:39What?
10:39Yeah, Cutch, this man needs no introduction if you are a football fan in the state of Georgia.
10:45Charlie Werner starred at his high school level, also for the Georgia Bulldogs.
10:50He has just been a staple to football here in the state of Georgia for so long.
10:55Charlie, thank you so much for your time.
10:57Take me a little bit inside what playing for the Falcons now means to you as a pro,
11:02being that you're such a native son of Georgia.
11:05Yeah, it's an honor and a privilege.
11:07Yeah, growing up watching the Falcons as a young kid, being from the state,
11:10and having the opportunity to come play for the Falcons is to honor and privilege,
11:15and I enjoy every day of it.
11:17You had a great year last year with the Falcons.
11:19You were returning home after a stint with the 49ers.
11:23This offseason, you had the opportunity to attend tight end university.
11:26What did that change about your game?
11:28What did it add to your game?
11:31Yeah, I mean, it's a great opportunity to go meet a lot of the tight ends in the NFL
11:34and just try to learn something from all the guys that give a presentation.
11:39And, yeah, you always pick up something.
11:41So, you know, little tidbits here and there from guys and being able to talk to guys about their game.
11:45And it's always a good time.
11:47Every little thing, all the little details, they add up quickly.
11:50That's right.
11:50Yes, ma'am.
11:51Take me inside this Zach Robinson offense.
11:54What do you like about it?
11:55What do you think is going to help the Falcons be successful this season?
11:58Yeah, Zach's doing great.
11:59You know, we're going into year two with him.
12:01I thought we did really well last year offensively, and we're continuing to gel
12:05and just figure out the offense with Zach this offseason and this training camp.
12:09And, yeah, really enjoying it.
12:11It's good to see just him continue to grow as a coordinator
12:13and us continue to grow and learn his offense.
12:15And we've been having a good camp so far.
12:18Give us your evaluation of Michael Penix, Jr.
12:20We don't get to see him this preseason, but everybody's holding their breaths,
12:23waiting for that regular season debut when he knows he's the starting number one.
12:28He knows this is his ship to lead.
12:29Yeah, Mike's doing great.
12:30Mike handles himself like a pro.
12:32He's so mature.
12:34He's slinging it really good right now in training camp.
12:37And he's such a good leader, too.
12:38We've all been following behind him, and, you know, we'll fight for him, too.
12:42So we really enjoy Mike being our quarterback right now.
12:45There was a fantastic feature done on you.
12:48It's up on the Falcons' YouTube channel if everybody wants to check it out,
12:51highlighting, showcasing how much of a native Georgia son you are,
12:55the hunting, the fishing, the time with your family.
12:58So I have to ask you, given those Georgia roots,
13:00do you remember watching DJ Shockley at all when you were a kid?
13:03Yeah, he was the man back in the day.
13:05I was pretty young.
13:06I mean, but, man, he was everything back in the day,
13:09watching him run around at St. Bruce Stadium, and, man, he was legit.
13:14He was a lot of fun to watch back in my early days.
13:17Charlie, thank you so much for your time.
13:19Best of luck this season, and we can't wait to see what you do out there.
13:22Thank you so much.
13:23Guys, we send it back up to you.
13:24I don't know if you guys realize this,
13:26but DJ Shockley paid Charlie Warner to say that.
13:29Yeah.
13:30Now I've got to get the other job because it cost me a lot to make him say that.
13:33So, Jen, thank you for passing that along to Charlie.
13:35Three and six, a couple of Georgia Bulldogs sharing the love.
13:41And this pass on third down to Mason Kinsey was enough for the first down.
13:46So shout out to Charlie, though.
13:47He is a guy who's been in his league a few years now
13:50and played really well, has a big role in this Falcons offense.
13:53It does so many good things for him.
13:55It's a big conversion here from the Titans
13:58and what we call a follow concept.
14:00Really good first-man coverage and outside leverage
14:02and a good throw and catch to continue to drive.
14:05But Charlie has done amazing things for, you know, in his career already
14:09and continues to be a stalwart for this offense.
14:13First and ten.
14:15Pass to the far side.
14:16It's complete.
14:19And that's Josh Wiley.
14:21By the way, that feature that Jen was referencing
14:24on the Falcons' YouTube page
14:27talked about Charlie in high school,
14:30how they moved him from tight end to running back.
14:34So imagine being a team,
14:37seeing that guy at 6'5", let's say 230 in high school
14:42as the running back.
14:43No thank you.
14:46It's like, I guess,
14:47sort of like Derrick Henry coming down to you,
14:49but in high school.
14:49Run up the middle by Mims.
14:53He gets tackled inside the 5,
14:56right by the first down marker near the 3.
14:59And they're going to say he did not get it.
15:02You can see a little bit of fatigue setting in,
15:04you know, Lamar Jackson and D'Angelo Malone
15:07and some of these other guys.
15:08I believe Pierce, the first-round rookie,
15:10is still out there.
15:11You haven't really seen many substitutes.
15:13These guys have had a lot of snaps.
15:16They're not used to really getting that
15:17through training camp, right, Chuck,
15:19where you usually don't get a full game on,
15:22but I think you're seeing that
15:23he's starting to lean a bit out there.
15:26Second and one.
15:29Mims in the backfield.
15:35You give it to him,
15:37and he slips, and he goes down,
15:38tried to cut.
15:40When he cut,
15:41he realized Caleb Johnson was right there,
15:43and Johnson makes the stop.
15:45So it's third down.
15:46And it's a big opportunity.
15:48You talk about this moment,
15:50and, Coy, you just talk about a lot of guys
15:51looking like they're a little bit fatigued,
15:53but here's the moments where
15:54Coach Roy want to see
15:55who is going to be the guy that steps up.
15:57And I thought we're pulling that hole
15:59in the middle right there for Caleb Johnson.
16:01Had a free run to run it back,
16:03and good nice job.
16:04I surprised the running back.
16:05Yeah.
16:06I showed up like, whoa!
16:07But this is what he want to see.
16:08Who's going to show up when you're tired,
16:10when it's late in the fourth quarter?
16:12Who are the guys I can depend on
16:13to get a stop?
16:14That's a rookie first-rounder Pierce
16:17at the top of your screen.
16:19Dropping in coverage.
16:20Third and three.
16:21The pass, and that's read very nicely.
16:24The stop tackle by Ronnie Harrison Jr.,
16:28the new pickup this week.
16:30Yeah, been in the NFL since 2018,
16:32when Jacksonville drafted him
16:34in the third round out of Alabama.
16:36Really nice play here.
16:39Reading that, avoiding the traffic.
16:41Got a bead on the receiver
16:44and put him on the ground.
16:45Nice play.
16:46So that brings up the field goal unit.
16:50Joey Sly on for 23 yards
16:52to give the Titans
16:54a three-point lead.
16:5623-20 after a 23-yard field goal.
17:09Titans lead the Falcons
17:10here in the fourth.
17:1120 Titans now lead the Falcons.
17:199-0-3 to play here in the fourth.
17:22After a 23-yard field goal,
17:24the Titans will kick off.
17:29This will sail into the end zone
17:31for a touchback.
17:32So the Falcons will start at the 35,
17:36and we'll start an interview
17:37with Jen Hale.
17:39AJ Terrell, guys.
17:40Hard to believe he's only 26 years old.
17:42He's done so much already in his career.
17:45Such a staple on this Falcons defense.
17:47Thank you for being here
17:48with us for a moment.
17:50I wanted to ask you about
17:51this Chuck Ulbrich defense
17:52because the concept is
17:53be as physical and aggressive as possible.
17:56Yeah, you're going to give up some yards,
17:57but you're going to make it up
17:58with takeaways.
17:59Do you like that?
18:00Is that pressure,
18:01or is that the type of pressure
18:02you thrive under?
18:03No, we don't look at it as pressure.
18:05We more so just, you know,
18:06just play collectively
18:07and have next play mentality.
18:09You know, the preparation
18:09and stuff we do,
18:11you know, leading up to games
18:13and stuff we do in practice,
18:15you know, prepares us for the games
18:16and things like that.
18:17So, you know, we love it.
18:18We're taking it all in as a team
18:20and just have that next play mentality.
18:23So how would you describe
18:24how this defense is responding
18:25to Ulbrich's style
18:27and his defensive plan?
18:28We're accepting it for what it is.
18:30You know, he trusting us
18:31to go out there
18:32and get off the field,
18:33give our offense the opportunity
18:34to make plays
18:35and get points on the board.
18:36And then we also praising ourselves
18:38on getting the ball back
18:39and doing our job
18:40and scoring as well.
18:41So, you know,
18:43just all hands on deck,
18:44everybody collectively
18:45just doing their job
18:46and just making plays.
18:47Natron Brooks certainly had
18:49a successful outing
18:51in terms of getting the ball back.
18:52Put your analyst hat on for me.
18:54What have you seen out of him
18:55in terms of growth and development?
18:56A lot of growth, like you said.
18:58Just him just taking it in
19:00year in, year out.
19:03I feel like he had a lot
19:04of good examples around him.
19:06We've both been through,
19:07you know, a few different coordinators
19:09and things like that,
19:09but he always played
19:10at a high level,
19:11trusting in his size
19:13and his ability
19:13and making plays
19:14when they come his way.
19:15So, you know,
19:16just him honing in on that
19:17and, you know,
19:18at defensive back,
19:19you just got to have
19:20short-term memory
19:21and he definitely got that
19:23and he also played
19:24super physical for his size
19:26and, you know,
19:27it's just paying off well for him.
19:29You were cheering loudly
19:30when he snagged that one
19:30in the first half.
19:31For sure.
19:32It was a great play.
19:33We've seen that route
19:34a lot during practice
19:35and to see him make a play on
19:36and make it look real easy.
19:38So, nothing that we didn't expect,
19:41though.
19:41So, you know, great play.
19:43You've been such a veteran
19:44force, a veteran leader
19:45for this squad.
19:47What's next for you this season?
19:48Do you have any personal goals,
19:50new benchmarks you want to reach?
19:51Yeah, you know,
19:52for me, just want to secure
19:54another all-pro season.
19:55Just come out here
19:56and start fast.
19:57You know, not do too much
19:59do my job
19:59and let defense play around me
20:02and vice versa.
20:04So, just, you know,
20:04just go out there
20:05and make it plays
20:05week in, week out
20:06and it all takes care of itself.
20:08AJ, we always love
20:09visiting with you.
20:10Thank you so much for your time.
20:11Best of luck this season.
20:12We can't wait to see you out there.
20:14Guys, we'll send it back up to you.
20:15All right.
20:16Thank you so much, Jen.
20:17Emery Jones has come in
20:18as the quarterback
20:19for the Falcons.
20:21Emery Jones
20:22out of Cincinnati.
20:23A great story
20:23was signed last year
20:24by the Falcons
20:25to replicate
20:28Jaden Daniels.
20:30Yeah.
20:30And he did such a great job.
20:32They're like,
20:32we got to keep this guy around.
20:35Well, you can see the athleticism
20:36if he had a big run
20:37that got called back
20:38but the guy's a good player
20:39and he's learning a lot
20:40in the system
20:41and going the ball well.
20:42Back shoulder throw
20:45and it's incomplete.
20:48D.J. Chart
20:49the intended receiver
20:51but he was pushed out of bounds
20:53before he was able to come down.
20:57Yeah, good play by the defender there.
21:01These receivers, you'll see,
21:02I mean, we're looking to see
21:04who's going to get that fifth,
21:05sixth receiver spot.
21:06A lot of these guys
21:07are big, tall receivers.
21:096'3", 6'4",
21:11across the board
21:11and showing the ability
21:13to make an impact
21:14on special teams as well.
21:21Jemaray, D.K. is back.
21:23Bradley Payton to punt.
21:26D.K., fair catch,
21:27has to come up
21:28and slide to make the catch.
21:32As he will make the catch
21:34on the 24-yard line.
21:36You got to dip
21:40your chicken strip.
21:44Here's the John Robinson.
21:45And that's an Atlanta touchdown.
21:52Seven minutes to go.
21:53There is the defensive coordinator,
21:55Jeff Ulbrich,
21:56talking about his defense.
21:59We heard A.J. Terrell
22:00speaking with Jen Hale about it.
22:03First and ten.
22:06There's Mark Jefferson.
22:09Nowhere to go.
22:11You can see that speed
22:12of the defense
22:13that Jeff Ulbrich's system brings.
22:15His first season
22:16as a coordinator here.
22:18Remember, he's the interim head coach
22:19for the Jets last year.
22:20Highly respected
22:21for his leadership.
22:23His Jets defenses
22:24were the only defense
22:25to rank top five
22:26in total defense
22:27in each of the last three seasons.
22:29He has a simple scheme.
22:31Every player I've talked to,
22:32they love how it allows them
22:33to play fast
22:34and be aggressive.
22:37They like to,
22:38their philosophy
22:38is to drag teams
22:39into deep water.
22:40Just keep fighting.
22:42What are they?
22:42Alligators?
22:43What?
22:45Off the helmet
22:46that pass is.
22:47Cole, you say simple.
22:49And, you know,
22:50for, you know,
22:51fans to think about,
22:52it's a simple defense.
22:53It's simple for them to learn,
22:54but not simple
22:55when you're going against it now
22:57because they can make a,
22:58the defense,
22:59they can make an offense
22:59look really foolish
23:00with some of the things
23:01they can do, right?
23:02Yeah, they'll do a lot of disguising,
23:04but it's a great question, Shaq.
23:05So what I mean is,
23:06we've seen this past several years here
23:08a three-four type of defense.
23:10You need a certain type of player.
23:11You need guys who can play two-gap
23:13and you're responsible
23:14for two different,
23:15you know, situations.
23:17This is like a one-man, one-gap.
23:19I got this
23:20and I'm going to go get it
23:21every single play.
23:22And like, right there,
23:23you guys just shooting the gap.
23:25And your boys are right behind you
23:27to make up for any mistake
23:28you might make.
23:29Simeon was running
23:30for his life right there.
23:33LaCale London
23:33was the one who missed the sack,
23:35but the pressure continued.
23:37Yeah, not a good day right there,
23:39but Zach Harrison
23:40coming right up the middle right there.
23:42Goes right over the top of him
23:43and then D'Angelo Malone
23:44comes after him.
23:45He's really birds again.
23:46I've been in that situation before.
23:47It's like,
23:48please,
23:49I got to get this ball
23:49out of my hand.
23:50By the way,
23:51did you guys see this past week
23:52in practice,
23:53Jeff Olbrick
23:55was up against the sled?
23:56Oh, yeah.
23:57Competing.
23:57He can get off fast.
23:58I used to hate playing against him.
24:00He was a special teams demon.
24:02He would come out with a mohawk.
24:03Full-on mohawk.
24:05Sometimes he would diet.
24:07And, yeah,
24:07he was scary as a player.
24:08As a player and now as a coach,
24:10he has his players mimicking
24:12that some sort of intensity
24:13that he used to do.
24:15Drummond returning this punt,
24:17splits a couple players
24:18and takes it out to the 40-yard line.
24:21A 13-yard return after a 51-yard punt.
24:25Three-point lead for the Titans.
24:27Under six to play in the fourth.
24:28Bring the mohawk back, coach.
24:30It's the preseason week, too,
24:37and the fans are having fun
24:38here in Atlanta
24:39as the Falcons trail by three.
24:42Emery Jones
24:43and the shotgun.
24:46Jayshon Corbin at tailback.
24:48First down.
24:50Jones
24:50throws incomplete,
24:53and there is a flag.
24:55The pass intended for Jesse Matthews.
24:57Davion Ross
25:01on the coverage.
25:04Pass interference.
25:05Defense number 40.
25:06By rule,
25:07the ball is placed
25:08at the spot of the foul.
25:09Automatic.
25:10First down.
25:12See Jones
25:13showing his mobility there,
25:14getting outside the pocket,
25:16and, yeah,
25:17Ross just
25:17got himself
25:19in a bad situation there.
25:20Great route.
25:21Forced the error
25:22on the defender.
25:23Boy, as a defensive player,
25:25when you're about to get beaten,
25:26what goes through your mind
25:27there,
25:27because I see a lot of guys
25:28panicking in that spot
25:29where they're like,
25:30oh, man.
25:30I don't know.
25:30That never happens.
25:33Oh, my goodness.
25:34Never?
25:35You,
25:35especially in situations like this,
25:37I mean,
25:37we're laughing about it,
25:38but these guys are out here
25:39fighting for roster spots, right?
25:40So now the pressure,
25:41the intensity,
25:42you feel it even more,
25:43and you want to go out there,
25:44and you've got to remind yourself,
25:44calm down.
25:45Don't try to play
25:46too hard now
25:47and make another mistake.
25:49Just technique,
25:50alignment,
25:51assignment.
25:52Jones
25:53with time
25:54across the middle.
25:55Dangerous bone.
25:56It's dropped by Jamari Harris.
25:58He had that interception.
26:03It looked like he was open
26:04for a second,
26:05but you can see the slight roll.
26:07You're going to see
26:07the big crossing route here,
26:09but he is in his hip pocket.
26:12Feet got tangled up
26:13just a little bit there.
26:15So, Shock,
26:15as a quarterback,
26:16what goes through your mind
26:17when you throw a ball
26:18and you see that it might get intercepted?
26:20He never did that,
26:20but David Shockley
26:22in Denver did.
26:25Stat line,
26:26zero intercepted.
26:27I don't even know
26:28what to say now.
26:28I got it.
26:34Matthews,
26:35down the sideline.
26:39I thought you were going to get
26:40a nice email tomorrow.
26:42Just saying.
26:43Your cousin's not going to be
26:44happy with me, is he?
26:45Matthews,
26:47nice little pick up there.
26:48Spent 2023 with the Texans.
26:5148 games and 174 passes,
26:54caught 2100 yards
26:56in his career there.
27:00San Diego State,
27:01fourth-year player,
27:02out here fighting for a spot tonight.
27:05Third and four coming up.
27:06You got to think
27:07this is two down territory right now.
27:12And off off the middle.
27:14They don't need two downs.
27:17Jayshaun Corbin
27:17gets the first down.
27:19That was a vicious collision
27:20there as well.
27:21How about that pride
27:22in running the football
27:23and third and fourth
27:24could easily throw in the football
27:25when we came into the game
27:26and said you need to be able
27:28to run the football.
27:29You got some of your reserves
27:29and guys who
27:30could be called upon
27:32to play in some
27:32really critical moments
27:34and you go third and four,
27:35you run the football
27:36and pick it up.
27:37Corbin's making a name
27:38for himself tonight.
27:39He's putting a lot of good stuff
27:41on tape,
27:42both for the Falcons
27:43and league-wide.
27:44Another handoff.
27:46Bounces it to the outside.
27:49Corbin able to fall forward.
27:51Pick up a couple.
27:51Second down and eight.
27:54He knew he was going to be
27:55getting a lot of reps.
27:56I was down there on the field
27:57watching him
27:58warm up before the game.
28:00And, Shaq, you asked me
28:01were you the type of guy
28:02that worked out hard,
28:04got a little, you know,
28:04lather going before a game
28:06and I didn't.
28:07I like to save energy.
28:08But Corbin was down there.
28:10He was working harder
28:11than anybody.
28:12He was working on his footwork.
28:13He was working on his routes.
28:14I mean, he had a full-on
28:15sweat warm before this game.
28:17And he sure warmed up
28:18and he's still heating up
28:19as this game goes on.
28:20Second and eight.
28:27Jones stepping up.
28:28He's going to run.
28:31Trying to do his best.
28:32Jaden Daniels.
28:33He's going to take it out
28:34to the 21-yard line.
28:36We'll set up third
28:37and about two.
28:38That's something you like, though.
28:40He looked down the field.
28:41You saw him go through
28:41his progression,
28:42go through his reads.
28:43Didn't like what he saw
28:44down the field.
28:45Tucked it.
28:45You just athleticism.
28:46Now you make this
28:47a third and two situation
28:49as opposed to trying
28:49to force the issue
28:50with a throw.
28:52You know you're
28:52in field goal range.
28:53You know you got three points.
28:55So a nice job of making
28:56a really good decision there
28:58and taking care of the ball.
28:59You see Zach Robinson,
29:00the offensive coordinator,
29:01looking on.
29:02Wanting to put this thing away
29:03and put seven on the board.
29:05The way they've run
29:06the ball tonight,
29:07do you take a chance
29:08and put it in the air
29:09or do you keep it on the ground?
29:10He ran it last time
29:11on third and four.
29:12Why not get this off his line?
29:13Another chance.
29:14Or zone read
29:15put the ball in the hands
29:17and they're going to have
29:18a play clock violation
29:19except the timeout
29:20was called right before
29:22by Raheem Morris
29:23and that just saved them
29:24five yards.
29:27Yeah, you saw immediately
29:28Emory Jones put his hands
29:30on his head
29:30because that's the number
29:31one thing for the quarterback
29:32is you got to know
29:33what's going on,
29:34especially with the play clock
29:35along with everything else.
29:37Good job because Raheem Morris
29:39not allowing that play clock
29:41to run out
29:41and make it a longer third down.
29:44Younger player
29:45Well, guys,
29:46on Friday, September 5th
29:48at 7 p.m.
29:48Eastern Atlantic Station,
29:50it is the Dirty Bird Rally
29:52free and open
29:53to all fans.
29:55Performance by T.I.
29:56Appearances by current
29:57Falcons players.
29:59Emceed by Big Tigger
30:01and Danny B.
30:05Think it's going to be all
30:05chain right there,
30:06T.I. in the building.
30:07Got some show ponies
30:08for that one.
30:09Oh.
30:09That guy has an absolutely
30:18infectious spot.
30:20This is Raheem all the time.
30:22You see him at practice,
30:23you see him in the facility,
30:25he is always that kind of
30:27jovial guy that you love.
30:30Third and two.
30:32Jones rolling out.
30:34He will throw.
30:35That ball is incomplete
30:38intended for D.J.
30:40Chart.
30:46What do you do?
30:46Do you go for it?
30:47Here you are in the preseason?
30:49Absolutely.
30:50No reason to come here
30:51looking for a tie.
30:52Three minutes to go.
30:53Fourth and two.
30:55Putting the hands
30:56of the quarterback.
30:57Let him go get it.
30:58Do you do a zone read here?
31:00I think he got the option.
31:01He ran it really well.
31:03They tried to give him
31:04a run pass option
31:05there on the sprint out.
31:08See what happens here
31:08on field from two.
31:09That play clock
31:10is down to seven.
31:14Does he see it?
31:16Play clock at two.
31:19And they're going to be
31:20forced to burn
31:20another timeout
31:22because the play clock
31:23was winding down.
31:24They were slow
31:24to get into it.
31:27And D.J.,
31:28you just mentioned before,
31:29as a quarterback,
31:30number one job,
31:31know the play clock.
31:32Yeah.
31:32And you got to,
31:34whether the play
31:34came in late or not
31:35because it looked like
31:36they were still in the huddle
31:37about 17, 16, 15 seconds
31:39on the clock.
31:40And you got out
31:41to the huddle.
31:41You got to get to the line
31:42of scrimmage
31:42and get it called,
31:43especially if you're
31:44trying to get it going.
31:45But that's one thing
31:46that you always got
31:46to take care of
31:47as a quarterback
31:48is knowing where you are
31:49at that play clock
31:50and making sure
31:50everybody's lined up
31:51ready to go.
31:52And they broke the huddle
31:53with 10 seconds
31:55on the play clock.
31:56Corbin in the backfield.
32:11Now Jones under center
32:13on fourth and two.
32:15And we're going to have
32:15a timeout taken here
32:17by Tennessee.
32:17The cat-and-mouse game
32:23going on right now.
32:25Time for today's
32:27Mercedes-Benz
32:28electrifying drive.
32:30How about that
32:31run by Nathan Carter
32:33and then this pass
32:35to Chris Blair.
32:37Big plays, too.
32:40How about explosive plays?
32:41I was talking
32:42to Zach Robinson
32:43before the game
32:44and he said
32:45during their scrimmages
32:46or their joint practices
32:48in one day
32:49they had almost 15 plays
32:52of explosive plays
32:53which is 15 yards
32:54or more
32:54during the day.
32:56So you're talking about
32:57pushing the ball
32:58down the field.
33:00This offense is going
33:00to be fun to watch
33:01this year.
33:05Fourth and two.
33:06What do they do?
33:07On the rollout.
33:11Jones going to try
33:12to run for it.
33:16And it looks like
33:17he's short.
33:23And there is a player down.
33:25They're calling over.
33:28Emery Jones
33:29is the player down.
33:32The quarterback
33:32took a hit right away.
33:34The Titans players
33:35were yelling over
33:36to the bench
33:37for the Falcons
33:38and
33:38we saw obviously
33:40a horrific injury
33:41last week.
33:43The players
33:44yelled for the training
33:46staff right away.
33:46They do it again this time.
33:48The difference is
33:49we can tell
33:50for Emery Jones
33:52he's getting up
33:54and that's good.
33:56it's a young man who
34:01is just trying to prove
34:03his worth
34:03and you got to give him
34:05credit for his tenacity
34:06and his fearlessness
34:07really knows he's got two
34:09guys coming full speed at
34:10him.
34:11And he's trying to fight
34:12for that yardage to get
34:13that first down.
34:14So he took
34:16down with the helmet
34:17there too.
34:17Yeah.
34:20Probably could have called
34:21that.
34:22Leading with the helmet
34:23like that
34:24and landing it right on
34:27the runner's helmet.
34:29And here's two things to it.
34:30You mentioned it.
34:31A guy playing late in the
34:32ballgame trying to prove
34:33to himself.
34:33I was a guy who played
34:35late in fourth quarters
34:36and you knew you only had
34:37limited opportunities.
34:39Here you are fourth quarter,
34:40fourth down,
34:41giving your body up,
34:42trying to make a play.
34:44You know,
34:45Emory Jones,
34:45hopefully he's all right.
34:47But I totally understand
34:48the competitive side of him
34:50trying to get there.
34:56It looked like some of the
34:57Titans players saw something
34:59from Emory Jones that made
35:00them signal right away.
35:02But it is good to see him
35:03walk off under his own power.
35:07So now Tennessee will take
35:09over 257.
35:10Leading by three.
35:12Atlanta has this one timeout
35:14remaining.
35:16Expect a heavy dose of this
35:18as we go back down to Jen Hill.
35:21Coach, Arthur Blank talked
35:22about some of the new coaches.
35:24One of those would be
35:25Nate Olley,
35:27the young, energetic,
35:28defensive line coach.
35:30So energetic.
35:32It's a transferable,
35:33feelable energy
35:35that this defensive lineman
35:36absolutely loved.
35:37And look,
35:38Olley's big thing is
35:39I don't care so much
35:40if you make a mistake
35:41as soon as the ball is snapped.
35:42I just want to make sure
35:43you get into the backfield.
35:45He has all sorts of
35:46Olley-isms now
35:47to emphasize that point.
35:48Two of my favorites.
35:49If you think you stink
35:51and then you'll hear him
35:52screaming on the sidelines
35:53down here,
35:54dark room,
35:54dark room.
35:55The thought process there,
35:56you should be willing
35:57to run into a dark room
35:59without knowing
35:59what's waiting
36:00if you're going to be
36:01a successful D lineman
36:03in Olley's system.
36:04I like that.
36:05Play fast.
36:05How do you feel about that?
36:06If you think you stink.
36:08I love that.
36:08How about running
36:09into a dark room?
36:11You're the prankster.
36:13Around you,
36:14I would never do that.
36:15Two-minute warning,
36:16you can think about it.
36:17I'm completely comfortable.
36:18Hey, ladies.
36:24It's to go.
36:25Third and five coming up
36:27for Tennessee
36:29from their own 25.
36:30If the Falcons make a stop,
36:32they've got a chance.
36:39Simeon pressured.
36:42Still moving around.
36:43Jones dives forward.
36:46He'll get back
36:46to the line of scrimmage
36:48and that will bring up
36:49fourth down
36:50and Atlanta will use
36:52its final timeout
36:54to stop the clock
36:55at 1.50.
36:56I'll be honest.
36:57I thought there was
36:57a holding call.
36:58Watch D'Angelo Malone
36:59up here get around the corner
37:01and put the pressure on him,
37:02but then you get pressure
37:03up the middle as well.
37:04Really great job
37:05of pushing Simeon around,
37:07but look at the pressure
37:08right in the middle.
37:08There's Malone
37:09who had him almost
37:10in the backfield.
37:11Pierce missed him there.
37:12A second chance at him.
37:13It's a good job
37:14of rallying into the football
37:15there by the Falcons.
37:16A lot of black jerseys
37:17to the ball.
37:19Forcing that big fourth down.
37:20Now you have a chance
37:21a minute 50 to go
37:22and brought up something good
37:24at the break.
37:25Something interesting
37:25to break.
37:25He's a stick probably
37:26will have to come back out
37:27with Emory Jones
37:29probably going into
37:30the concussion protocol.
37:32Right now,
37:33Dylan Drummond
37:34is back in his own 30
37:35getting ready
37:36to return the punts.
37:38Johnny Hecker
37:39trying to get off
37:40a large punt
37:42to make it
37:43a long field
37:45for the Falcons.
37:48This is returnable.
37:51The 27.
37:53Drummond
37:53takes it out
37:54to the 32.
37:56A five-yard return,
37:57139 to go
37:58after a 48-yard punt.
38:01And it is going
38:02to be
38:03Easton Stick
38:05back in the game
38:06to run this
38:08two-minute drill
38:08with no timeouts
38:10down by three.
38:16As we know,
38:16the game had start
38:17as well as we saw
38:18here in the first half.
38:20Wasn't that good
38:20for Easton Stick?
38:21Had a chance
38:21to throw two interceptions.
38:23One was called back,
38:24but he's kind of
38:25caught a streak
38:26and came on here
38:27in the second half
38:28and thrown the football
38:28will be good
38:30and go down
38:30and get points here.
38:32Go win the ballgame.
38:32First down,
38:35the pass
38:36is caught
38:37by Quincy Skinner.
38:38Gets tackled
38:38inbounds.
38:39The clock continues
38:40to run.
38:54On second and six,
38:56the pass is caught
38:56by Jesse Matthews
38:58and he does get
38:58out of bounds
38:59to stop the clock.
39:01Also picks up
39:01the first down.
39:02Good play call
39:03with your scheme there.
39:05Sending a receiver out
39:06to the first down marker
39:07while going towards
39:09the sideline.
39:10And good job
39:11by Matthews
39:11getting out
39:12to stop the clock.
39:12No timeouts remain.
39:14Shock.
39:14Sometimes you see
39:15quarterbacks
39:16when they run
39:17that two-minute offense,
39:18they actually excel.
39:19It's easier for them.
39:21I saw that
39:21by Easton Stick last week.
39:23You're the most comfortable.
39:23These are the plays
39:24you work on
39:25day one installs,
39:26slants,
39:27flats,
39:27quick outs,
39:28things that you're
39:28most comfortable with.
39:29The ball comes out
39:30quickly most of the time.
39:31Over the middle,
39:33it is caught.
39:34Elijah Dotson.
39:36That's one of those
39:36as he picks up seven.
39:38Do you catch it
39:39or do you drop it?
39:40For a competitor,
39:42it's hard to just drop
39:42the football.
39:43So they're definitely
39:44going to try to catch it,
39:45but you're like,
39:46it's a tough spot,
39:47but still,
39:48you can pick up yards.
39:49I know we're not going to
39:51try it,
39:51but I want to do it.
39:51Second and four.
39:53Wide open receiver
39:55gets the first down.
39:56D.J. Chart.
39:59Eleven yards.
40:00Clock continues to wind.
40:01Got a spike.
40:02These Titans keep playing
40:03this deep quarter coverage
40:05here with the corners
40:06playing way off.
40:07You're going to give a lot
40:08of those opportunities
40:09to get a quick pitch out there
40:11or a quick out to the
40:12sideline and stop the clock.
40:13Season tickets start
40:18at $750
40:19and include best-in-class
40:21benefits like
40:21exclusive members-only events,
40:23ability to swap tickets
40:25for another game,
40:25and more.
40:26Don't wait.
40:27Seats are going fast
40:28and there are
40:29limited options remaining.
40:32Limited opportunities
40:33here in this one
40:34for the Falcons
40:35as they trail by three,
40:37second and ten.
40:39Got to think they're
40:39going to take a shot
40:40here in one of these times.
40:42Stick.
40:43Not going to get it off
40:45as he gets sacked
40:46back at the 48
40:47by Joe Gaziano,
40:49a loss of eight.
40:51So now third down
40:52and they got to go quickly.
40:56Got to be trying
40:56to take a shot there.
40:57It just took a long time
40:58to get going.
41:02Low throw to the sideline,
41:04incomplete,
41:04fourth down coming up.
41:13for Easton Stick also.
41:16How about that
41:17quick change
41:18of his mentality.
41:19He thought his night
41:20was done.
41:20Yeah, he probably was over
41:22there, drank a lot of Gatorade,
41:23talking to Michael Pennington,
41:25chilling a little bit
41:25there for help.
41:26Got to switch your brain
41:27back to game mode
41:29and get back into it.
41:31Which is, you know,
41:32kind of be tough,
41:33can be hard to be.
41:35Fourth and 18.
41:36Maybe pick up the first down,
41:39one more play
41:40if it runs the way
41:41you want it to.
41:46Rolling out.
41:47Seven seconds.
41:49Down the sideline,
41:51it's incomplete,
41:52intended for Matthews
41:53with three seconds
41:54on the clock.
41:59Stick faced with
42:00a lot of pressure again there.
42:02He didn't have much time
42:03to throw
42:03in that last two minutes.
42:06drive opportunity
42:07to try to put this ball
42:08into field goal range
42:09and tie the game.
42:19The Titans can just
42:21take a knee,
42:22run the clock out.
42:23Just three seconds,
42:25one play needed.
42:28Next week,
42:29the Falcons will be
42:30on the road
42:31to wrap up the preseason.
42:33Dallas.
42:36Saw some good developments
42:39this game
42:40at a certain key position
42:41battles on this team
42:42where there are starting
42:43roster spots open.
42:45One of them is at the nickel
42:46corner position.
42:48Natron Brooks put a good game
42:49together.
42:50D. Alford made some plays
42:51out there as well
42:52as they continued to battle.
42:53So Raheem Morris
42:59will have the handshake
43:02with Brian Callahan.
43:05You talk about
43:06that battle.
43:08Shock,
43:08what do you take away
43:09from this one?
43:10You know what,
43:10I thought this was
43:11a game where they
43:12tried to be a little
43:13more physical,
43:14especially at the line
43:14of scrims,
43:15but you know what,
43:15I love seeing
43:16some of the second-year
43:18guys in it.
43:18You saw a bunch
43:19of the second-year guys
43:20get a chance
43:20to see Braylon Trice
43:21for the first time.
43:23Saw,
43:23you know,
43:23James Pierce
43:24get some pressure
43:25on the cornerback
43:25a few times,
43:26which was really good.
43:27Saw some of those
43:27interior linemen
43:28of Doralus and O'Roura
43:30will play some,
43:31you know,
43:31solid football,
43:32but I agree with Coy,
43:33that nickel spot
43:34is going to be
43:35very interesting,
43:36and then we saw
43:36the other safety spot
43:37as well.
43:38We saw Watts,
43:39we saw Fuller
43:40in the ballgame,
43:41so there's going to be
43:42a lot of competition
43:43there as well.
43:44And as you see
43:44all these players
43:45on the field,
43:45remember these players
43:46have been together
43:47for the entire week,
43:48the joint practices,
43:49so this is the
43:50culmination of that week.
43:52We had the skirmishes,
43:53we had the scuffles,
43:55and now in this game
43:56a close game,
43:56and after all that
43:58you can hug the guy
43:59and say,
43:59hey,
43:59nice job this week,
44:00enjoyed it.
44:02What it's all about,
44:03I mean,
44:03obviously you're
44:03huge competitors,
44:04you want to win,
44:05and it gets a little
44:06heated that second day
44:07it was a little hotter
44:08and you've been going
44:09against that guy
44:10for a bunch of times,
44:10but now you get
44:11the opportunity
44:11to go do it.
44:12All right,
44:13well right now
44:13let's go down
44:13on the field
44:14with Jen Hill.
44:16Thanks,
44:16Cutch,
44:16here with Raheem Morris.
44:17Coach,
44:18a lot of good
44:19to glean from this game.
44:20Let's start with that
44:21touchdown from Nathan Carter.
44:22What did you see?
44:23What did you like?
44:23You know,
44:24I loved us getting
44:24the run on track.
44:26Nathan Carter's
44:26a heck of a player.
44:27He made one move
44:28versus a very difficult defense
44:29and he was able
44:30to get north and south
44:31and that's what we want
44:32to see from our
44:32young running backs.
44:33And then we followed up
44:34with some pretty good jobs
44:34by Easton Stick
44:35throwing a nice touchdown
44:36to CB.
44:37So to see the guys
44:37get a little bit of life,
44:38cut down on the penalties,
44:39have one critical
44:40in the second half,
44:41but may definitely improve
44:42as the one they make
44:42in the second half.
44:43Are you starting
44:44to answer any questions
44:45about that fifth
44:46and sixth wide receiver spot
44:47speaking of Chris Blair?
44:48Yeah,
44:48they're making it hard.
44:49You know,
44:49these guys are going out,
44:50they're playing really well.
44:52What they've done in practice,
44:53what they've done in the games,
44:54they've been really productive.
44:55We talk about drums,
44:56we talk about Chris Blair,
44:57we talk about Seals.
44:58You know,
44:58all of those guys have shown
44:59they deserve to play
45:00NFL football.
45:02It's been impressive
45:03play to watch.
45:03All right,
45:04you also have a big question
45:05for your starting nickel.
45:06Natron Brooks was fantastic
45:08with that interception.
45:09Put on your analyst hat,
45:10what did you see
45:10out of that play?
45:11You know,
45:11Natron's done such a great job
45:12of being in the right spot.
45:14So whether he's been
45:14in the outside corner,
45:16the inside,
45:16whether he's playing
45:17special teams,
45:18he's always shown up
45:19in every situation
45:19that we need.
45:20You know,
45:20so I'm really looking forward
45:21to those guys
45:22finish this thing out
45:23in practice
45:23and let it go into next week.
45:25Last one.
45:26All right,
45:26TJ Yates calling
45:27the plays tonight.
45:29Some clock awareness,
45:30things that could smooth out,
45:31but overall,
45:31what did you think
45:32of his job
45:33being the signal caller,
45:34the play caller
45:35up there tonight?
45:35He was calm.
45:36He was efficient.
45:37He got the plays out in time.
45:39The quarterbacks
45:39were able to go execute.
45:40They used to talk to him.
45:42It's what you want to see,
45:43the development of a staff
45:44and what these guys
45:44are able to do.
45:44So I'm so fired up
45:46and to watch Zach
45:47be the assister tonight
45:48as opposed to usually
45:49with TJ's to him
45:50is a lot of fun
45:51for those guys
45:51to go do that.
45:52Ron,
45:52thanks so much.
45:53We'll see you next week
45:53in Dallas.
45:54See you soon.
45:55Guys.
45:55Raheem Morris,
45:57he could also run
45:57for office.
45:59He answers the question,
46:01but don't answer the question.
46:03Keep us hanging.
46:04You never know
46:04who made the impact.
46:06Everyone looked good.
46:07Always with a smile
46:08on his face.
46:08That's what a coach does, right?
46:09Our final score tonight,
46:1123-20.
46:12The Tennessee Titans
46:13defeat the Atlanta Falcons
46:15coming up for the Atlanta Market.
46:16It's the Dirty Bird Report
46:18presented by Chick-fil-A.
46:20For Coywire,
46:20DJ Shockley,
46:22and Jen Hale,
46:22and our entire crew
46:24here in Atlanta,
46:25I am Justin Kutcher
46:26saying so long
46:27from Mercedes-Benz Stadium
46:29here in Atlanta, Georgia.
