A sunny morning, with showers developing into the afternoon, heavy across the west. Driest conditions in the east. The showers lighten and die out throughout the evening. - This is the Met Office UK weather forecast for the morning of 08/09/2025. Bringing you today’s forecast is Liam Eslick.

00:01Hello there.

00:02It was a pretty warm but pretty active day yesterday to end the weekend with a few thunderstorms

00:06around.

00:07Now that is going to change as we head through into the new week.

00:10Now that is because we've got this low pressure system up towards the north west of the UK

00:14which is introducing this polar maritime air mass over us over the next few days.

00:20So things will start to cool down, it will be a fresh start towards Monday morning but

00:24a bright one and some plenty of sunshine to begin with especially across England and much

00:29of Scotland.

00:31As we go through the morning though we will start to see some daytime heating and some

00:34showers will start to bubble up through into the afternoon.

00:38Now some of these could potentially be heavy mostly across Wales and the western half of

00:42the UK but the best of the brightness and the driest of the conditions will be out towards

00:47the east.

00:48So temperatures here around sort of 21, 22 degrees which is a little bit lower than what

00:53we saw yesterday but under those showers out towards the west it will feel a little bit

00:57cooler around the high teens for the afternoon.

01:01Now as we go through this evening and we start to lose that daytime heating a lot of those

01:05showers will slowly start to fizzle out and we will start to see some drier and a lot clearer

01:10conditions as we head towards Tuesday.

01:13And with that fresh air mass it will be a much more comfortable night sleep as well.

01:17So towns and cities will stay in towards those double figures but in some rural spots we will

01:22start to see those temperatures drop towards those mid single figures for Tuesday morning.

01:27Now heading towards Tuesday morning we do want to keep an eye on this area towards the

01:31southwest.

01:32Some heavy showers are coming in from the south and they could potentially be pretty blustery as

01:38well especially across the coastal regions of Devon Cornwall and the far southwest of

01:43Wales.

01:44But elsewhere another dry day to come plenty of sunshine there is going to be a little

01:48bit of some fair weather cloud here and there and maybe just the odd one or two showers but

01:52again a mostly dry day across much of the UK and temperatures again around the seasonal

01:58averages so around 21 or 22 degrees especially towards the southeast where they do have the

02:04best of that sunshine.

02:06Now as we head through the rest of the week things will start to turn a little bit more

02:10unsettled.
