00:00Hello, good morning. A brief return to something of a more summery flavour at first this weekend
00:06before much more autumnal weather returns later in the weekend and throughout much of
00:10next week. Having said that, it's not going to be entirely sunny through the day. We're
00:14going to see areas of cloud here and there after any early mist patches clear. That cloud
00:19perhaps giving the odd shower through Wales, the Midlands, but more especially Western
00:23Scotland and Northern Ireland, the main places where showers are likely. They'll be light,
00:27they'll be fleeting, many places, avoiding showers entirely and staying dry. And it's
00:32going to feel a little warmer compared with recent days with this breeze from the south.
00:37But the breeze will freshen, particularly across Western areas, so that's perhaps going to
00:41make it feel a touch cooler. 18 to 20 Celsius in the west and the north. 22 to 24 in the
00:49southeast, hence the more summery feel. Plenty of sunshine continuing into the afternoon across
00:55parts of England, Wales, the northeast of Scotland. But towards the west, we've got cloud building along
01:00with that freshening breeze. In fact, the wind's really picking up overnight. Risk of gales for
01:05exposed coasts of the Irish Sea and Western Scotland, for example. Then we've got the spells
01:09of rain pushing back into Ireland, Northern Ireland, parts of West Wales, Cornwall into Devon by dawn on Sunday.
01:18Further east, it stays dry, it stays clear for many. But it's going to be a very mild night because of the
01:25breeze from the south, temperatures of 16 to 19 Celsius in places. So yeah, certainly feeling more
01:33like a summer night than an autumn one. And the reason for this, tightening isobars ahead of an area
01:39of low pressure which is slow moving into the west of the UK, flinging its weather fronts in from the
01:45Atlantic. Those weather fronts slow moving, but bringing spells of rain to Northern Ireland and
01:52then Western Scotland, parts of Wales in the southwest during the morning. Those outbreaks of
01:56rain moving their way eastwards as the day continues, but tending to, well, fizzle away as they reach
02:03eastern England and central Scotland. Although always the chance of an isolated heavy shower or thunderstorm
02:09as this weather system moves through. Behind the main area of rain, some sunnier spells returning,
02:17albeit with a few showers, and it stays bright into the far east through the afternoon. But generally
02:22a cloudier day for many, certainly a breezier day compared with Saturday. But like I say, that breeze
02:28coming up from the south, bringing some warmth, still the potential for 22 or 23 Celsius into the east.
02:35But it's not going to feel very pleasant where we've got the rain, and it will be persistent across
02:39western Scotland, northwest England into north Wales later on. Then into next week, low pressure
02:46sticks around, not just one, but a couple of lows. And that means it's going to turn increasingly
02:52unsettled. Spells of rain, showers, and much windier too.
02:55Spells of rain.
03:07Spells of rain.
