00:00But there was another upset.
00:01It took place in Death Valley, South Carolina.
00:04LSU gets the upset over Cade Klobnik.
00:07There were a four-and-a-half-point road underdog.
00:10They trailed early in the first half.
00:12They made second-half adjustments and steal the game, coach 17-10.
00:17Brian Kelly breaks the streak.
00:19He lost three straight week one opening matchups in Baton Rouge.
00:24Not this time.
00:25They're a top-five-ranked football team entering week number two.
00:28You know, when I watched the game, it didn't feel like an upset.
00:32LSU looked like they had better talent.
00:35Now, I bought Dabo's stuff.
00:38He said the best team we've had since we won national championships.
00:41I didn't think they were quite that good.
00:44I didn't see a Travis Etienne and some other guys that were on that team
00:47when they won national championships.
00:50Now, they're very good.
00:51I think this Clemson team's not much below LSU.
00:55But when I watched the game and I saw the talent, LSU probably should have scored again
01:01and beaten them by another touchdown.
01:03But the fact was, it really wasn't an upset after we got to the game.
01:08They had a little better football team.
01:09And because they had the better football team, they won the game.
01:12Well, when we talked in the breakdown prior to the outcome, we said and talked about
01:17the ability for potentially Clemson to rush the football on that front seven of LSU.
01:22Last year, the Tigers, the Clemson Tigers averaged 173 rushing yards per game.
01:28You talk about Blake Baker and that defense by LSU.
01:32They held Clemson to only 31 rushing yards in that contest, 1.6 yards per carry.
01:39And Clemson only converted coach three of 13 third-down conversions.
01:44To me, that was the difference in the matchup.
01:47You know, and I'll say this.
01:48Garrett Riley has great background.
01:50He understands offensive football.
01:52He knows how to put points up there.
01:54But when he gets to a tight ball game, he throws the football.
01:56His answer is almost always throw it more, throw it more, throw it more.
02:01And that's where you see him not running the ball enough.
02:04Sometimes you've got to keep running the football just to make sure you stay balanced.
02:09That game was a close ball game.
02:11Not all the running plays are going to make big plays out of them, but you've got to keep
02:15doing it.
02:15I really think Davo's got to keep a close handle on that.
02:19They can't take a walk away from the running attack just because sometimes the offensive
02:24coordinator has built his reputation on throwing the football.
02:28We talked about Cade Klubnick being a Heisman frontrunner.
02:32He was a nine-to-one shot, completed 50% of his passes, seemed to struggle late in the
02:38fourth quarter.
02:39Your thoughts about his performance on Saturday night?
02:42No, I didn't think he's good enough for them to win their conference.
02:45And I think Clemson is still going to be right there in the hunt with Miami for the conference
02:51championship.
02:52Again, it's a little bit like I felt the talent level of LSU.
02:56I thought Nussmeyer showed a little bit more, showed a little bit more stuff.
03:01Now, I thought Cade did a good job.
03:02His team was not as good.
03:04You put a good running attack with Clemson, so the quarterback now has people fearing the
03:10run.
03:10All of a sudden, his routes are wide open.
03:12He didn't have a lot of open receivers in that football game.
03:15They were tightly contested.
03:17There weren't a lot of easy completions for him to have.
