03 September - National weather forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good afternoon. It certainly was a wet commute for many of us this morning,
00:05and the unsettled weather is here to stay through the afternoon. Multiple Met Office warnings in
00:09force, including a thunderstorm warning across a large portion of England and Wales, so some quite
00:14heavy bursts of rain, some strong gusty winds, even a chance we'll see some hail and some frequent
00:19lightning, which may lead to some impacts and places. More details around the warning on our
00:23website. Much lighter winds across the northern half of the country, which means rain will linger
00:28on for much longer. Once again, we could see some heavy downpours associated with this.
00:32Highs reaching around 22 degrees Celsius, but feeling a lot cooler in the fresh breeze across
00:37the south. Rain will continue to linger across the northeastern half of the country, eventually
00:43pushing into the northern isles and then clearing its way into the North Sea. Still some showers
00:47feeding in from the west, but across eastern areas, central parts of England, drier with some
00:52prolonged clear spells, where it may turn a little cooler, feel a little fresher as we head towards
00:57the morning. All eyes towards the southwest though, Devon, Cornwall, southern parts of
01:01Wales. Once again, we'll see a secondary band of heavy showers, possible thunderstorms as
01:05we head towards the morning. We need to keep an eye on this band as it moves its way north
01:10eastwards. Once again, another thunderstorm warning issued here across parts of England
01:14and Wales, pushing its way north eastwards. Once again, some heavy bursts of rain along with
01:18it. Hail, possible frequent lightning. So an unsettled day once again, but we should see more sunny
01:24spells in between these showers, but nevertheless, pretty much anywhere could catch some heavy
01:27downpours as we head into tomorrow. Still some strong gusty winds, particularly if you
01:31do catch any heavy showers, but mostly across the south, that strong breeze will start to
01:36ease away through Thursday afternoon. Fairly similar temperatures, highs reaching around
01:4020 to 21 degrees Celsius. If you're not a fan of the unsettled wet weather, well then we
01:46do have high pressure starting to build across the south through Friday and settled, bringing
01:50in a slightly warmer plume of air from the near continent. But it's likely to be offset
01:55by more cloud and some heavy showers. For more details on the upcoming weather, don't forget,
