8th September - National Forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good afternoon. Did you hear any thunder over the weekend? Well today there's
00:04going to be a very different feel to the weather, a return of the sunshine for most but not
00:09quite for everyone. Low pressure is still mostly dominating our weather, just sat to
00:13the south of Iceland bringing us in this westerly flow so at times it is going to bring in organised
00:18bands of showers, longer spells of rain but for the bulk of us, particularly across eastern
00:23areas it is going to be mostly dry and settled afternoon.
00:28Now there are still going to be some showers, particularly in the west and still across
00:32the far east and southeast we could see the odd one or two but most of the showers pushing
00:37into western coasts where the odd one or two could be heavy. Once again we may see some
00:41hail, the odd rumble of thunder and they could be fairly blustery at times across western
00:45coasts of Scotland, a bit of a breeze picking up here. But for most of us it's going to
00:49be a dry, settled day, particularly across eastern areas with a return of that sunshine,
00:54skies reaching 22, possibly 23 degrees Celsius in the southeast.
01:00For the first part of the evening there will be some showers remaining once again across
01:03western areas but through the course of the night most showers should be easing away so
01:07there's going to be plenty of clear skies once again across many eastern areas so it's going
01:11to feel cooler overnight, a little fresher by morning and there's a chance we could see
01:15perhaps one or two mist and fog patches. More cloud though as we head towards dawn, just
01:20starting to push into coasts of Wales, parts of Cornwall but for many, once again, remaining
01:25dry, clear skies, lows reaching around seven to eight degrees Celsius in Scotland.
01:29Now Tuesday is set to be a fairly similar day to what we'll see this afternoon. There
01:35are still going to be some showers once again across western areas, these perhaps merging into
01:39longer spells of rain by the time we reach the afternoon across southern parts of Wales,
01:44southwest England. But once again there's going to be lots of dry weather around, more sunshine
01:48once again across eastern areas but we might just start to see a build of high cloud in the
01:52west which may create hazy spells of sunshine, milkier skies. But it's still going to feel
01:58pleasant, highs reaching fairly similar temperatures, 22, possibly 23 degrees Celsius in the east and
02:04southeast. Now these bands of showers across the south, they'll slowly skirt their way eastwards,
02:09once again merging into longer spells of rain which could turn heavy at times and behind me we can
02:15see there is another area of rain waiting in the wings which will eventually push its way through
02:20on Wednesday. So unsettled with possibly heavy blustery spells of rain for the middle part
02:25of the week and we still see low pressure situated to the northwest of the country so we'll continue
02:30to see that westerly flow so it's likely we'll see further showers for the end of the week but
02:34hopefully plenty of brighter and sunnier interludes in between. But for more details on this week's
02:39weather you can catch alex burkehill later on youtube.
