A man has appeared in court on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast accused of torturing a Brisbane man who is missing.

00:00Anthony Thomas Parrott appeared in the Maroochial Magistrates Court this morning on one count of torture.
00:08The Sunshine Coast man, who is 38, has two children and runs a building company,
00:13has been charged alongside 26-year-old North Lakes man Billy John Howard.
00:18Now the pair is accused of torturing Kelvin Grove man Andrew Burrow,
00:22who hasn't been seen for more than a week and remains missing.
00:25Police have now established three crime scenes on the Sunshine Coast,
00:29one at Bly Bly and two in the Noosa hinterland.
00:32While objecting to bail, the police prosecutor told the court
00:35that there is a homicide investigation into Mr Burrow's disappearance,
00:39which is ongoing and dynamic.
00:41She said there was evidence that the two accused and the victim had travelled together,
00:44evidence that some items, including zip ties, a mobile phone and alcohol wipes,
00:49were burned in a fire pit at the Bly Bly home,
00:51and the addresses of the victim's parents were also allegedly written on a piece of paper at the scene.
00:56The court was told there is photo evidence of Mr Burrow where he's been severely beaten.
01:01And also the court heard Mr Perrett had been on bail for other offences,
01:05including extortion and weapons charges.
01:08But Mr Perrett's lawyer argued for bail,
01:10saying the bulk of the police evidence related to the co-accused,
01:14and he said the case against his client was weak.
01:17He said his client had been adhering to his bail conditions.
01:20Nevertheless, the magistrate deemed it was an unacceptable risk to release the accused on bail,
01:25and so he's been remanded in custody until October the 13th,
01:28when his co-accused is also due back before court.
01:32As mentioned earlier, Mr Burrow is still missing,
01:35and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
