00:00My name is Naz. Welcome to Zafran Restaurant, Turkish and Indian cuisine. We're also a wine
00:06bar and cocktail bar. This is my restaurant. It's based in Castle Road in Portsmouth. So
00:12we're stone throw away from the beach. So yeah, a little bit about Zafran Restaurant, which used
00:17to be the old Monty's, which has been around for 18, 19 years within the community. Unfortunately,
00:24it closed about two years ago and the building's been vacant. I decided to come in, bring something
00:31different to it, but not lose the look of the old Monty's. We kind of revived it. We've done
00:37the flooring, repainted it. We've added a bit of Indian and Turkish influence to it. I'm
00:43not sure if you can see it, but you've got some photos and pictures in the background just
00:49to give it a bit of our own kind of style and a bit of character to it. So yeah, it's
00:56a lovely place. We've been open for one week now, one week, and it's going good. We're getting
01:00great support. If you stay with the journey, the menu's only going to get better. And we're
01:06also introducing breakfast, and it will be a full Indian breakfast with some English breakfast
01:13in there. Obviously, we've got to add the English breakfast in, as we're in England, might as
01:19add something into it, a bit English. So we'll have a selection of lovely Indian breakfasts.
01:25So yeah, we're looking to bring something different to Portsmouth. Cardamom in Clanfield,
01:31Waterlooville way, is kind of my first ever business. I went solo. I had a few other businesses
01:38in partnership, but being in part of like a partnership, you can never really put your
01:43own stamp on things. So Cardamom was kind of my baby. I built that business from the ground
01:49up, and it was great. And I think Zafran, the reason I come here was, oh, so this place,
01:56daytime, loads of traffic. At nighttime, it's quite a quiet road. The other businesses close
02:01early. I thought, what can I do here that's going to be different from the rest? I could
02:05have made it easy and just done an Indian restaurant, but I thought, do you know what? I want to offer
02:10something different. I want to give a reason for people to come here and be like, why do
02:14we want to go to that place? Because they do Indian and Turkish. So I've always, obviously,
02:19you've known me for a while now, Habibur, and I've always tried to do something a bit differently.
02:26Even when it comes to Indian food, I've always tried to be a little bit better, you know.
02:31So that, yeah, that's the story behind how I've created Zafran Restaurant.
