In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
00:18
The Lord be with you, and with your spirit.
00:20
Dear friends, as we now gather for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist,
00:24
once may I offer this Mass for you and your intentions, whatever they might be.
00:28
Feel free, of course, to place them in our comment section of our Livestream Mass,
00:33
so that people throughout the day can keep them in their prayers.
00:38
In a specific way, in a special way, I'm offering this Mass for vocations, the Holy Orders.
00:45
We continue to pray together to the Lord of the Harvest to send many priests,
00:52
especially for the diocesan priesthood for the Diocese of Darwin.
00:55
Dear brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins,
00:59
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the Sacred Mysteries.
01:04
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart. Lord, have mercy.
01:09
You came to call sinners. Christ, have mercy.
01:13
You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. Lord, have mercy.
01:19
May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
01:25
Let us pray.
01:28
O God, who willed to provide shepherds for your people,
01:32
pour out in your church a spirit of piety and fortitude,
01:36
to raise upworthy ministers for your altars,
01:39
and make them ardent yet gentle heralds of your gospel.
01:43
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you,
01:47
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
01:49
God, forever and ever. Amen.
01:52
A reading from the first letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians.
02:01
We have not taken to preaching because we are deluded or immoral or trying to deceive anyone.
02:29
It was God who decided that we were fit to be entrusted with the good news.
02:35
And when we are speaking, we are not trying to please men,
02:39
but God, who can read our inmost thoughts.
02:43
You know very well, and we can swear it before God,
02:47
that never at any time have our speeches been simply flattering,
02:51
or a cover for trying to get money.
02:53
Nor have we ever looked for any special honor from men,
02:58
either from you or anybody else,
03:00
when we could have imposed ourselves on you with full weight as apostles of Christ.
03:05
Instead, we were unassuming.
03:09
Like a mother feeding and looking after her own children,
03:13
we felt so devoted and protective towards you,
03:16
and have come to love you so much,
03:20
that we were eager to hand over to you,
03:23
not only the good news,
03:25
but our whole lives as well.
03:28
The Word of the Lord.
03:30
You have searched me, and you know me, Lord.
03:36
You have searched me, and you know me, Lord.
03:39
O Lord, you searched me, and you know me.
03:41
You know my resting and my rising.
03:44
You discern my purpose from afar.
03:47
You have searched me, and you know me, Lord.
03:51
You mark when I walk or lie down,
03:53
all my ways lie open to you.
03:56
Before ever a word is on my tongue,
03:58
you know it, O Lord, through and through.
04:02
You have searched me, and you know me, Lord.
04:05
Behind and before you beseech me,
04:06
your hand ever laid upon me.
04:09
So wonderful for me, this knowledge too high,
04:12
beyond my reach.
04:14
You have searched me, and you know me, Lord.
04:18
Alleluia, alleluia.
04:19
The Word of God is living and active.
04:22
It probes the thoughts and motives of our heart.
04:25
Alleluia.
04:28
The Lord be with you.
04:31
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
04:33
Jesus said,
04:37
Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
04:41
You who pay your tithe of mint and dill and cumin,
04:45
and have neglected the weightier matters of the law.
04:50
Justice, mercy, good faith.
04:53
These you should have practiced without neglecting the others.
04:58
You blind guides, straining out gnats and swallowing camels.
05:03
Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
05:08
You who clean the outside of cup and dish,
05:10
and leave the inside full of extortion and intemperance.
05:14
Blind Pharisee, clean the inside of cup and dish first,
05:19
so that the outside may become clean as well.
05:22
The gospel of the Lord.
05:33
And as an aside, maybe there are, you know,
05:37
young people in your families and your communities
05:39
that you think would, should consider becoming priests.
05:44
And so maybe today we begin to more intentionally pray
05:48
for these young people, for these young men,
05:51
and maybe ask for the Holy Spirit's courage as well
05:53
to be able to talk gently to these people
05:56
and to ask them the questions gently of,
05:59
have you considered God's call to priesthood?
06:02
And maybe if you and I are unable to leave home,
06:05
maybe we are a bit sick, a bit ill.
06:09
You know, we don't have the energy for that outward apostolate.
06:12
The invitation, of course, is to also offer our prayers,
06:16
our works, our sufferings, our little sacrifices at home,
06:20
even for this intention of priestly vocations.
06:34
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
06:36
for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you,
06:39
fruit of the earth and work of human hands,
06:40
it will become for us the bread of life.
06:54
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
06:56
for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you,
06:59
fruit of the vine and work of human hands,
07:01
it will become for us our spiritual drink.
07:03
Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours
07:17
may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.
07:20
Look kindly, we pray, O Lord, on the prayers and offerings of your people,
07:32
that the stewards of your mysteries may grow in number
07:35
and persevere always in your love.
07:38
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
07:41
The Lord be with you and with your spirit.
07:44
Lift up your hearts.
07:45
We lift them up to the Lord.
07:46
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
07:49
It is right and just.
07:50
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
07:54
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
07:57
Lord, Holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
08:01
For although you have no need of our praise,
08:04
yet our thanksgiving is itself your gift,
08:07
since our praises add nothing to your greatness
08:09
but profit us for salvation through Christ our Lord.
08:13
And so, in company with the choirs of angels,
08:16
we praise you and with joy we proclaim,
08:20
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of hosts,
08:24
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
08:26
Hosanna in the highest.
08:28
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
08:32
Hosanna in the highest.
08:33
You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
08:42
Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
08:44
by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall,
08:48
so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
08:53
At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion,
08:58
he took bread,
08:58
and giving thanks, broke it,
09:02
and gave it to his disciples, saying,
09:05
Take this all of you and eat of it,
09:09
for this is my body,
09:11
which will be given up for you.
09:28
In a similar way, when supper was ended,
09:37
he took the chalice,
09:39
and once more giving thanks,
09:41
he gave it to his disciples, saying,
09:43
Take this all of you and drink from it,
09:45
for this is the chalice of my blood,
09:48
the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
09:51
which will be poured out for you and for many
09:53
for the forgiveness of sins.
09:56
Do this in memory of me.
09:58
The mystery of faith,
10:21
we proclaim your death, O Lord,
10:23
and profess your resurrection until you come again.
10:27
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
10:31
we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation,
10:35
giving thanks that you have held us really to be in your presence
10:39
and minister to you.
10:41
Humbly we pray that,
10:42
partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
10:44
we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
10:48
Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world,
10:51
and bring her to the fullness of charity,
10:54
together with Leo our Pope and Chancellor Bishop and multi-clergy.
10:58
Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
11:04
and all who have died in your mercy.
11:07
Welcome them into the light of your face.
11:09
Have mercy on us all,
11:11
we pray that with the Blessed Virgin Mary,
11:14
Mother of God,
11:15
with Blessed Joseph, her spouse,
11:17
with the blessed apostles,
11:18
and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,
11:22
we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life,
11:25
and may praise and glorify you
11:27
through your Son,
11:28
Jesus Christ.
11:29
Through him and with him and in him,
11:34
O God,
11:35
Almighty Father,
11:36
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
11:39
all glory and honor is yours,
11:41
forever and ever.
11:43
Amen.
11:46
At the Savior's command and form by divine teaching,
11:49
we dare to say,
11:51
Our Father,
11:52
who art in heaven,
11:54
hallowed be thy name,
11:55
thy kingdom come,
11:57
thy will be done on earth,
11:58
as it is in heaven.
12:00
Give us this day our daily bread,
12:02
and forgive us our trespasses,
12:05
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
12:08
and lead us not into temptation,
12:10
but deliver us from evil.
12:13
Deliver us, Lord, we pray,
12:14
from every evil,
12:15
graciously grant peace in our days,
12:18
that by the help of your mercy,
12:19
we may be always free from sin,
12:22
and safe from all distress,
12:24
as we await the blessed hope
12:26
and the coming of our Savior,
12:27
Jesus Christ.
12:29
For the kingdom,
12:30
the power,
12:30
and the glory are yours,
12:32
now and forever.
12:34
Lord Jesus Christ,
12:35
who said to your apostles,
12:36
Peace I leave you,
12:37
my peace I give you,
12:39
look not on our sins,
12:40
but on the faith of your church,
12:41
and graciously grant her peace and unity
12:44
in accordance with your will,
12:45
who live and reign forever and ever.
12:48
Amen.
12:48
The peace of the Lord be with you always.
12:52
Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
12:54
Peace be with you,
12:55
wherever you may be.
13:06
Lamb of God,
13:07
you take away the sins of the world,
13:09
have mercy on us.
13:11
Lamb of God,
13:12
you take away the sins of the world,
13:14
have mercy on us.
13:16
Lamb of God,
13:17
you take away the sins of the world,
13:19
grant us peace.
13:20
Behold the Lamb of God,
13:46
behold him who takes away the sins of the world,
13:49
blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
13:53
Lord,
13:53
I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
13:57
but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
14:01
My Jesus,
14:02
I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
14:06
I love you above all things,
14:08
and I desire to receive you into my soul.
14:11
Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
14:14
commonly,
14:15
spiritually,
14:15
into my heart,
14:16
I embrace you as if you were already there,
14:19
and unite myself wholly to you.
14:22
Never permit me to be separated from you.
14:25
Amen.
14:26
Let us pray.
14:29
May the communion in your sacrament that we have consumed
14:33
save us,
14:33
O Lord,
14:34
and confirm us in the light of your truth.
14:37
Through Christ,
14:38
our Lord.
14:39
Amen.
14:40
Brothers and sisters,
14:41
thank you once more for your prayerful company today,
14:44
whenever you might be watching this online mass.
14:47
Let's continue to pray for each other,
14:49
for our needs,
14:50
the needs of the church,
14:51
and of the world.
14:52
The Lord be with you.
14:54
May Almighty God bless you,
14:56
the Father,
14:56
and the Son,
14:57
and the Holy Spirit.
14:59
Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord.
15:01
Amen.
