Transcript
00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
00:18The Lord be with you, and with your spirit.
00:20Dear friends, as we now gather for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist,
00:24once may I offer this Mass for you and your intentions, whatever they might be.
00:28Feel free, of course, to place them in our comment section of our Livestream Mass,
00:33so that people throughout the day can keep them in their prayers.
00:38In a specific way, in a special way, I'm offering this Mass for vocations, the Holy Orders.
00:45We continue to pray together to the Lord of the Harvest to send many priests,
00:52especially for the diocesan priesthood for the Diocese of Darwin.
00:55Dear brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins,
00:59and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the Sacred Mysteries.
01:04You were sent to heal the contrite of heart. Lord, have mercy.
01:09You came to call sinners. Christ, have mercy.
01:13You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. Lord, have mercy.
01:19May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
01:25Let us pray.
01:28O God, who willed to provide shepherds for your people,
01:32pour out in your church a spirit of piety and fortitude,
01:36to raise upworthy ministers for your altars,
01:39and make them ardent yet gentle heralds of your gospel.
01:43Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you,
01:47in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
01:49God, forever and ever. Amen.
01:52A reading from the first letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians.
02:01We have not taken to preaching because we are deluded or immoral or trying to deceive anyone.
02:29It was God who decided that we were fit to be entrusted with the good news.
02:35And when we are speaking, we are not trying to please men,
02:39but God, who can read our inmost thoughts.
02:43You know very well, and we can swear it before God,
02:47that never at any time have our speeches been simply flattering,
02:51or a cover for trying to get money.
02:53Nor have we ever looked for any special honor from men,
02:58either from you or anybody else,
03:00when we could have imposed ourselves on you with full weight as apostles of Christ.
03:05Instead, we were unassuming.
03:09Like a mother feeding and looking after her own children,
03:13we felt so devoted and protective towards you,
03:16and have come to love you so much,
03:20that we were eager to hand over to you,
03:23not only the good news,
03:25but our whole lives as well.
03:28The Word of the Lord.
03:30You have searched me, and you know me, Lord.
03:36You have searched me, and you know me, Lord.
03:39O Lord, you searched me, and you know me.
03:41You know my resting and my rising.
03:44You discern my purpose from afar.
03:47You have searched me, and you know me, Lord.
03:51You mark when I walk or lie down,
03:53all my ways lie open to you.
03:56Before ever a word is on my tongue,
03:58you know it, O Lord, through and through.
04:02You have searched me, and you know me, Lord.
04:05Behind and before you beseech me,
04:06your hand ever laid upon me.
04:09So wonderful for me, this knowledge too high,
04:12beyond my reach.
04:14You have searched me, and you know me, Lord.
04:18Alleluia, alleluia.
04:19The Word of God is living and active.
04:22It probes the thoughts and motives of our heart.
04:25Alleluia.
04:28The Lord be with you.
04:31A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
04:33Jesus said,
04:37Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
04:41You who pay your tithe of mint and dill and cumin,
04:45and have neglected the weightier matters of the law.
04:50Justice, mercy, good faith.
04:53These you should have practiced without neglecting the others.
04:58You blind guides, straining out gnats and swallowing camels.
05:03Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
05:08You who clean the outside of cup and dish,
05:10and leave the inside full of extortion and intemperance.
05:14Blind Pharisee, clean the inside of cup and dish first,
05:19so that the outside may become clean as well.
05:22The gospel of the Lord.
05:33And as an aside, maybe there are, you know,
05:37young people in your families and your communities
05:39that you think would, should consider becoming priests.
05:44And so maybe today we begin to more intentionally pray
05:48for these young people, for these young men,
05:51and maybe ask for the Holy Spirit's courage as well
05:53to be able to talk gently to these people
05:56and to ask them the questions gently of,
05:59have you considered God's call to priesthood?
06:02And maybe if you and I are unable to leave home,
06:05maybe we are a bit sick, a bit ill.
06:09You know, we don't have the energy for that outward apostolate.
06:12The invitation, of course, is to also offer our prayers,
06:16our works, our sufferings, our little sacrifices at home,
06:20even for this intention of priestly vocations.
06:34Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
06:36for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you,
06:39fruit of the earth and work of human hands,
06:40it will become for us the bread of life.
06:54Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
06:56for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you,
06:59fruit of the vine and work of human hands,
07:01it will become for us our spiritual drink.
07:03Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours
07:17may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.
07:20Look kindly, we pray, O Lord, on the prayers and offerings of your people,
07:32that the stewards of your mysteries may grow in number
07:35and persevere always in your love.
07:38Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
07:41The Lord be with you and with your spirit.
07:44Lift up your hearts.
07:45We lift them up to the Lord.
07:46Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
07:49It is right and just.
07:50It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
07:54always and everywhere to give you thanks,
07:57Lord, Holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
08:01For although you have no need of our praise,
08:04yet our thanksgiving is itself your gift,
08:07since our praises add nothing to your greatness
08:09but profit us for salvation through Christ our Lord.
08:13And so, in company with the choirs of angels,
08:16we praise you and with joy we proclaim,
08:20Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of hosts,
08:24heaven and earth are full of your glory.
08:26Hosanna in the highest.
08:28Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
08:32Hosanna in the highest.
08:33You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
08:42Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
08:44by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall,
08:48so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
08:53At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion,
08:58he took bread,
08:58and giving thanks, broke it,
09:02and gave it to his disciples, saying,
09:05Take this all of you and eat of it,
09:09for this is my body,
09:11which will be given up for you.
09:28In a similar way, when supper was ended,
09:37he took the chalice,
09:39and once more giving thanks,
09:41he gave it to his disciples, saying,
09:43Take this all of you and drink from it,
09:45for this is the chalice of my blood,
09:48the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
09:51which will be poured out for you and for many
09:53for the forgiveness of sins.
09:56Do this in memory of me.
09:58The mystery of faith,
10:21we proclaim your death, O Lord,
10:23and profess your resurrection until you come again.
10:27Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
10:31we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation,
10:35giving thanks that you have held us really to be in your presence
10:39and minister to you.
10:41Humbly we pray that,
10:42partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
10:44we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
10:48Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world,
10:51and bring her to the fullness of charity,
10:54together with Leo our Pope and Chancellor Bishop and multi-clergy.
10:58Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
11:04and all who have died in your mercy.
11:07Welcome them into the light of your face.
11:09Have mercy on us all,
11:11we pray that with the Blessed Virgin Mary,
11:14Mother of God,
11:15with Blessed Joseph, her spouse,
11:17with the blessed apostles,
11:18and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,
11:22we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life,
11:25and may praise and glorify you
11:27through your Son,
11:28Jesus Christ.
11:29Through him and with him and in him,
11:34O God,
11:35Almighty Father,
11:36in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
11:39all glory and honor is yours,
11:41forever and ever.
11:43Amen.
11:46At the Savior's command and form by divine teaching,
11:49we dare to say,
11:51Our Father,
11:52who art in heaven,
11:54hallowed be thy name,
11:55thy kingdom come,
11:57thy will be done on earth,
11:58as it is in heaven.
12:00Give us this day our daily bread,
12:02and forgive us our trespasses,
12:05as we forgive those who trespass against us,
12:08and lead us not into temptation,
12:10but deliver us from evil.
12:13Deliver us, Lord, we pray,
12:14from every evil,
12:15graciously grant peace in our days,
12:18that by the help of your mercy,
12:19we may be always free from sin,
12:22and safe from all distress,
12:24as we await the blessed hope
12:26and the coming of our Savior,
12:27Jesus Christ.
12:29For the kingdom,
12:30the power,
12:30and the glory are yours,
12:32now and forever.
12:34Lord Jesus Christ,
12:35who said to your apostles,
12:36Peace I leave you,
12:37my peace I give you,
12:39look not on our sins,
12:40but on the faith of your church,
12:41and graciously grant her peace and unity
12:44in accordance with your will,
12:45who live and reign forever and ever.
12:48Amen.
12:48The peace of the Lord be with you always.
12:52Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
12:54Peace be with you,
12:55wherever you may be.
13:06Lamb of God,
13:07you take away the sins of the world,
13:09have mercy on us.
13:11Lamb of God,
13:12you take away the sins of the world,
13:14have mercy on us.
13:16Lamb of God,
13:17you take away the sins of the world,
13:19grant us peace.
13:20Behold the Lamb of God,
13:46behold him who takes away the sins of the world,
13:49blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
13:53Lord,
13:53I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
13:57but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
14:01My Jesus,
14:02I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
14:06I love you above all things,
14:08and I desire to receive you into my soul.
14:11Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
14:14commonly,
14:15spiritually,
14:15into my heart,
14:16I embrace you as if you were already there,
14:19and unite myself wholly to you.
14:22Never permit me to be separated from you.
14:25Amen.
14:26Let us pray.
14:29May the communion in your sacrament that we have consumed
14:33save us,
14:33O Lord,
14:34and confirm us in the light of your truth.
14:37Through Christ,
14:38our Lord.
14:39Amen.
14:40Brothers and sisters,
14:41thank you once more for your prayerful company today,
14:44whenever you might be watching this online mass.
14:47Let's continue to pray for each other,
14:49for our needs,
14:50the needs of the church,
14:51and of the world.
14:52The Lord be with you.
14:54May Almighty God bless you,
14:56the Father,
14:56and the Son,
14:57and the Holy Spirit.
14:59Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord.
15:01Amen.
