00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.
00:20And with your spirit.
00:20We acknowledge our sins, but more importantly, on this feast of St. Monica, we remember the
00:26call to faith and to trust in the mercy of God.
00:30You are always faithful, Lord, have mercy.
00:32Lord, have mercy.
00:33You turn the good to the messiness of life.
00:36Christ, have mercy.
00:37Christ, have mercy.
00:38And you call us into healing and love.
00:40Lord, have mercy.
00:41Lord, have mercy.
00:42May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and life everlasting.
00:49Amen.
00:50O God, who consoled the sorrowful, and who mercifully accepted the mother Littius of St. Monica,
00:55for the conversion of her son Augustine, grant us through the intercession of them both,
01:02that we may bitterly regret our sins, and find the grace of your pardon, through our Lord
01:07Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God,
01:12forever and ever.
01:13Amen.
01:16A reading from the book of Ecclesiasticus.
01:23Happy the husband of a really good wife, the number of his days will be doubled.
01:30A perfect wife is the joy of her husband, he will live out the years of his life in peace.
01:36A good wife is the best of portions reserved for those who fear the Lord.
01:42Rich and poor, they will be glad of heart, cheerful of faith, whatever the season.
01:48The grace of a wife will charm her husband.
01:53Her accomplishment will make him the stronger.
01:58A silent wife is a gift from the Lord.
02:01No prize can be put on a well-trained character.
02:06A modest wife is a boon twice over.
02:09A chaste character cannot be weighed on scales.
02:14Like the sun rising over the mountains of the Lord is the beauty of a good wife in a well-kept house.
02:23The word of the Lord.
02:24Thanks be to God.
02:25In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
02:28In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
02:30O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor hot in my eyes.
02:34I have not gone after things too great, nor marvels beyond me.
02:39In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
02:41Truly, I have set my soul in silence and peace.
02:46I winged child on its mother's breast.
02:50Even so is my soul.
02:52In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
02:54O Israel, hope in the Lord, both now and forever.
02:57In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
03:00Alleluia, alleluia.
03:01I am the light of the world, says the Lord.
03:04Whoever follows me will have the light of life.
03:07Alleluia.
03:11The Lord be with you.
03:17And with your spirit.
03:18A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
03:21Glory to you, O Lord.
03:22Jesus went to a town called Naim, accompanied by his disciples and a great number of people.
03:30When he was near the gate of the town, it happened that a dead man was being carried out for burial, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow.
03:40And a considerable number of the townspeople were with her.
03:43When the Lord saw her, he felt sorry for her.
03:47Do not cry, he said.
03:49Then he went up and put his hand on the bearer, and the bearer stood still.
03:53And he said, Young men, I tell you to get up.
03:56And the dead man sat up and began to talk.
04:00Jesus gave him to his mother.
04:02Everyone was filled with awe and praising God, saying, A great prophet has appeared among us.
04:09God has visited his people.
04:11And this opinion of him spread throughout Judea and all over the countryside.
04:18The Gospel of the Lord.
04:19Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
04:21It's interesting that the Church puts that Gospel of the raising back to life of a young man from the dead.
04:30And St. Monica prayed for her own young man, her son, who was dead in himself, in his spirit.
04:37And her prayer was heard.
04:39I was reading this morning from the account of her dying and how she was talking to Augustine and said,
04:47My prayers were heard beyond my expectations.
04:50So a reminder to keep trusting, trusting, trusting, even if we don't see the results straight away.
04:57To trust.
04:58Indeed, Jesus died trusting the Father, and we know he was resurrected.
05:03In this side of life, he did not see it fulfilled, but it was fulfilled, the promise of the Father being with him.
05:11So we trust that God is with us always, in every situation.
05:20Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for to your goodness we have this bread to offer, which earth has given human hands have made.
05:44It will become for us the bread to offer, and it will become for us the bread of life.
05:47Blessed be God forever.
05:47Blessed be God forever.
05:47Blessed are you Lord God of all
06:17creation. For to your goodness we have
06:20this wine to offer, fruit of divine
06:22work of human hands. It will become
06:24our spiritual drink. Blessed be God
06:26for all.
06:33Let us pray, brothers and sisters, that
06:36my sacrifice and yours may be
06:38acceptable to God, our almighty
06:40Father. May the Lord accept the sacrifice
06:42at your hands for the price and glory of
06:44his name for our good and the good of all his
06:45Holy Church. We bring you
06:48these sacrificial gifts, O Lord,
06:50to commemorate Saint Monica,
06:52humbly and treating that they
06:54may bestow on us pardon and salvation.
06:57Through Christ our Lord.
06:58Amen.
06:58The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Lift
07:08up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let
07:11us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is
07:13right and just. It is truly right and
07:14just, our duty and our salvation,
07:17always and everywhere to give you thanks,
07:19Lord, Holy Father, almighty and
07:21eternal God. For you are praised in the
07:23company of your saints, and in crowning
07:25their merits, you crown your very own
07:28gifts. By their way of life, you offer
07:30us an example. By communion with them,
07:33you bring us companionship, and by their
07:35intercession, true support. So that
07:38encouraged by so great a crowd of
07:40witnesses, we may run as victors in the
07:43race before us, and win with them the
07:45imperishable crown of glory. Through
07:48Christ our Lord. And so, with the
07:50angels and archangels, with the great
07:52multitude of the saints, we sing the
07:54hymn of your praise. As without end, we
07:56acclaim, Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of
08:01hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your
08:04glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is
08:07he who comes in the name of the Lord.
08:10Hosanna in the highest.
08:13You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of
08:16all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these
08:18gifts, we pray, by sending down your
08:21spirit upon them, like the dewfall, so
08:23they may become for us the body and
08:25blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the
08:28time he was betrayed and entered
08:30willingly into his passion, he took bread
08:32and giving thanks, broke it and gave it
08:35to his disciples, saying, take this, all
08:38of you, and eat of it, for this is my
08:41body, which will be given up for you.
08:43In a similar way, when supper was ended, he
08:51took the chalice and once more giving
08:53thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying,
08:56take this, all of you, and drink from it, for
08:59this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of
09:01the new and eternal covenant, which will be
09:04pulled out for you and for many for the
09:07forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of
09:10me? The mystery of faith. Save us,
09:19Savior of the world, for by your cross and
09:22resurrection you have set us free. Therefore,
09:25as we celebrate the memorial of his death
09:27and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the
09:30bread of life and the chalice of salvation,
09:32giving thanks that you've held us worthy to
09:35be in your presence and minister to you.
09:38Humbly we pray that partaking of the body
09:40and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into
09:43one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your
09:46church spread throughout the world and bring
09:49her to the fullness of charity, together with
09:51Leo, our Pope, me, your unworthy servant, and all
09:56the clergy. Remember also our brothers and
10:00sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of
10:02the resurrection, and all who have died in
10:05your mercy. Welcome them into the light of your
10:08face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the
10:12blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, blessed
10:15Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the
10:18saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may
10:21merit to be coerced to eternal life, and may praise and
10:25glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
10:29Through him and with him and in him, O God, almighty
10:35Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and
10:39honor is yours forever and ever. Amen.
10:42At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we
10:46dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be
10:50thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is
10:55in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our
11:00trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And
11:05lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us,
11:09Lord, from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by
11:14the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe
11:17from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of
11:21our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are
11:25yours now and forever. Lord Jesus Christ, we say to your
11:28apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our
11:31sins, but on the faith of your church. And graciously grant her peace
11:35and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever
11:38and ever. Amen. The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you
11:42always. And with your spirit. Let's offer each other a sign of
11:45peace. Peace be with you. Lamb of God. You take away the sins of the
11:49world. Have mercy on us. Lamb of God. You take away the sins of the
11:54world. Have mercy on us. Lamb of God. You take away the sins of the
11:59world. Grant us peace.
12:15Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world. Happy are
12:18those who are called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you
12:22enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
12:28My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament. I love you
12:34above all things and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now
12:39receive you sacramentally, commonly, spiritually into my heart, I embrace you as
12:45a few are already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from
12:52you. Amen.
12:54Let us pray.
12:55May the working of this divine sacrament enlighten and inflame us almighty God on this feast day of
13:06blessed Monica that we may be ever fervent with holy desires and abound in good works through Christ
13:14our Lord. Amen. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. May the peace and the blessing of the
13:18Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit come upon you and remain always with you. Amen. Let us go and live the
13:24gospel. Thanks be to God. And God bless your day.
