00:00Founded in 2011, the Boca Slit Fest remains Trinidad and Tobago's premier annual literary festival,
00:06a vibrant celebration of books, writers and ideas with a strong Caribbean focus and international reach.
00:13Each year, the festival brings together readers and writers from across the region and beyond
00:18for a dynamic mix of readings, performances, workshops, panel discussions and film screenings.
00:24And this year is no different.
00:26The festival, which began on Thursday, continues to draw crowds with a range of activities at venues across Port of
00:33Spain,
00:34including its popular children's festival, offering something for audiences of all ages.
00:40This evening we're having the OCM prize ceremony here at the National Library where we will be awarding the overall
00:49prize.
00:49We already have awarded the category prizes of poetry and fiction and non-fiction.
00:54So tonight is a big night for whoever's going to win out of those three.
00:59And tomorrow we have, in the evening, the National Poetry Slam, one of the biggest youth events on the cultural
01:06calendar.
01:08Organizers say the festival continues to highlight diverse voices,
01:12with writers from Trinidad and Tobago, the wider Caribbean and as far afield as the United Kingdom taking part.
01:19We'll see you next time.
