02:45And we will get to those questions in a future episode.
02:48Today, a few things to talk about.
02:51It's an interesting week in the world of professional wrestling.
02:53One, dynamite.
02:56AEW Dynamite, it's a bittersweet thing for me.
02:58Like, I think some of the stuff that they do on the show is fantastic.
03:01Other things, colossal waste of my time.
03:04I felt like this week, there was so much opportunity.
03:08Now, let's talk about the good stuff first, right?
03:10I enjoyed the five-on-five match for the $500,000
03:14or whatever you want to call that.
03:15I enjoyed that.
03:16I thought the match was solid.
03:17Everything went well.
03:19It's a television match, but it didn't come across as a television match.
03:22It came across as a legit big-time fight, and I appreciate that.
03:26I enjoyed the match.
03:27I enjoyed all the after-match activities,
03:29some of the things that took place,
03:30especially the Daniel Garcia heel turn,
03:33finally giving him something to do that is of solid substance.
03:39When his contract was coming due last year and he re-signed with AEW,
03:42it seemed as though he was like the next big star for them.
03:45He had meaningful conversation in matches with Daniel Bryan and other people along the way,
03:50winning the TNT Championship, and all of those accolades have really brought him almost nothing since then.
03:57I mean, his character has really torpedoed in a lot of ways the last several months.
04:02And when you look at other talents on the roster, right now the main event scene is pretty stacked,
04:06even with several stars being out, especially with a babyface holding that championship.
04:11So I think in the past, people have often looked at Darby Allin as being like the heir apparent to the next person to win the championship,
04:18especially prior to Hangman Page winning the championship.
04:22However, it's very clear to me right now that that is not the plan in this moment.
04:27So when we look at this scene, having Daniel Garcia go heel here and attack Darby Allin really does a couple things.
04:34One, it elevates Daniel Garcia.
04:36I love that.
04:37And it gives Darby Allin something to do that is valuable while we're waiting for a better situation for him to eventually win the AEW World Championship.
04:47I'm not thrilled with the fact that the Ops lost the match.
04:50I really like the Ops.
04:51I think they could do so much more with them.
04:53But I'm okay.
04:54The Bucks need a win every now and again.
04:56They really do.
04:57With the championship being off, Jon Moxley, you've got to do some substantial things with him.
05:02He's a premium talent.
05:04So I had no problem with all that stuff.
05:07I just think the highlight of all of it, though, was the Daniel Garcia situation.
05:13Let's flip the script.
05:14Let's go with things that drive me absolutely batty.
05:16Like, what are we doing with this FTR and cope and Christian situation?
05:20Like, I feel like it was filler.
05:21It was there just to drive me crazy.
05:24There was nothing.
05:25It didn't really advance the storyline.
05:26And you've got four guys in that feud that can really say some things.
05:31They're talented Mike Orders.
05:33And we got very little of that.
05:35It felt like, okay, listen, the show's supposed to go X, Y, Z amount of time.
05:38We don't have enough stuff booked for the show.
05:41Throw them out there.
05:42Let them say a few things.
05:43Let's see how it comes off.
05:44And I just didn't love that.
05:45Now, going back to the good side of things,
05:47I do really love the fact that Kyle Fletcher is getting an opportunity at the AEW World Heavyweight Championship.
05:53I think it's fantastic.
05:53I don't think he's going to and shouldn't win it yet, but I think he will down the line.
05:59And this is a great first opportunity as a first challenger to Hangman Page since winning the championship and defeating MJF at All Out.
06:08Or, I apologize, at Forbidden Door.
06:09I think this is the first person to step up after that who really, I don't necessarily think they pose a threat to the championship,
06:15but they come off as a talent that can put on a five-star banger with Hangman.
06:20And it makes that championship feel more substantial when the storyline clearly right now is not to take the championship off of Hangman.
06:27So, I think this is a really good way to do things.
06:30The fact that this was one of the last shows that will be at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia,
06:35having a hardcore match, the Philly street fight, was probably a good idea.
06:39I don't know if I would have chosen the same talents for the match, but, you know, whatever.
06:45Tony Storm's crazy, so you had to give her something awesome to do.
06:48So, I'm cool with that.
06:49But, all in all, I actually thought the show came off relatively well.
06:53I mean, there's things I think, obviously, they could have improved on, but a lot of good stuff going on there.
07:00The one thing that really does throw me for a little bit of a loop,
07:05the news right now around Kazuchika Okada, the unified champion,
07:09and that at All Out, he's going to be defending his championship in a mini-tournament of sorts,
07:15which is fine, but it makes very little sense to me that he's in an opening round match
07:21in a tournament for the championship that he already owns.
07:25He'll be facing Michael Oku, which, for a lot of people, you know, is a dream match.
07:30That'll take place on Collision.
07:32Later on, we'll see Konosuke Takeshka take on Anthony Bowens.
07:36We'll see Beast Mortas take on Masquerada Dorada
07:40to determine, like, three winners that will then face off at All Out,
07:44which, again, it's fine.
07:46It's a match for All Out Toronto, and I'm cool with that.
07:49I just don't understand having the current champion be in a tournament
07:53to get to a match for a belt that he already has.
07:56That's just really overbooking something that doesn't need to be that complicated.
08:01I also do love that we've got word now, there was a tweet sent out by Eddie Kingston
08:05that he is on his way back to the ring, challenge thrown out on Collision by Big Bill.
08:10Obviously, that will be his first match back in over a year.
08:13I think it's wonderful to have him back in the ring.
08:15I hope he comes back and he's just able to just tear the house down.
08:19I really do.
08:19I think Eddie Kingston has given so much of himself to the business,
08:22and thankfully for a company like AEW coming along,
08:25giving somebody like Eddie Kingston, who probably wouldn't have gotten as many opportunities in WWE,
08:29a platform to really apply his trade and really come across well to the fans,
08:33and I think that's fantastic.
08:35Sort of AEW news switching into WWE news.
08:38Former AEW and WWE superstar, Soraya, formerly known as Paige, was on Busted Open.
08:44She's talking about how she's ready to get back in the ring.
08:46She's working on her cardio.
08:47She needs to get rid of some ring rust.
08:49Even mentioned the fact that she wants to train with TJ and Natalya in the Heart Dungeon
08:54so she can get herself up to pace because her quote was,
08:59I want to be Paige again the way she wrestled.
09:02The way Paige wrestled at NXT, I want that back and I want to upgrade her.
09:06I'm not going to be crazy, but I want to do the generation style of wrestling.
09:10So if I ever do come back, people are going to be surprised, I think, about what I can whip out.
09:13And I think it would be fantastic, and in this generation or this age of returning superstars,
09:19let Paige come home and have her big moment.
09:22And the last thing I have to get to tonight,
09:25and I may have seemed like I'm rushing through some of the other conversational stuff tonight,
09:28but this is the headline of the night.
09:32WWE, a leaked memo of sorts by someone in the Saudi Arabian contingency
09:39that's related to this WWE-Saudi Arabia deal.
09:43Basically, it leaks that WrestleMania 43 will formally be announced within the next 24 hours
09:49as going to Saudi Arabia.
09:52Busted Open Radio spoke about it.
09:54Dave Meltzer had all this information.
09:58He said it's going to be the first WrestleMania outside of North America.
10:04At first, people thought maybe that this was going to be one night there,
10:09one night in the United States.
10:10That's not the case.
10:11Both nights there.
10:12And the other news that's coming out is it's about the money.
10:16There's roughly $100 million being paid to WWE to bring WrestleMania to Saudi Arabia.
10:24And look, even in a corporatized world where they're a trillion-dollar company probably,
10:28I'm joking, you know what I mean, multi-multi-billion-dollar company,
10:31this is a ton of money for essentially one show, a two-day event.
10:36But it's not just going to be those shows.
10:38It's Raw, SmackDown, everything leading into Mania.
10:41All the week's festivities will all take place in Saudi Arabia,
10:44which in a lot of ways takes some people who traditionally go to all the shows,
10:48kind of takes them out of the equation.
10:50I wonder if the green shirt dude will be there.
10:53But for the people who will be frustrated that it's going to Saudi Arabia
10:57who can't go to that show or choose not to go there for geopolitical reasons or whatever,
11:03let's go down what the really cool stuff may be.
11:06And that is that they're paying for this for a reason.
11:10They want to have a star-studded greatest WrestleMania.
11:14I hope to God they don't call it the greatest WrestleMania.
11:17But they want the most star-studded event in the history of WrestleMania.
11:22WWE legends are going to be expected to be there.
11:25If you go to Wrestling Inc., they have a story up talking about the same thing.
11:29We're talking about anybody and everybody that you could possibly dream about getting there.
11:35Dave Meltzer, again, from Wrestling Observer, his statement was, and I'll read his quote.
11:41It says,
11:41Everyone, anyone, money is no object.
11:45Any name you can imagine, obviously they're going to be after.
11:48Anyone coming out of retirement that wants to come out of retirement of big name value
11:53will be able to get a lot of money for this show.
11:56That's what they want.
11:58When you think about it, he had his co-host, Brian Alvarez,
12:01brought up the idea of The Undertaker versus Shawn Michaels.
12:05Stone Cold Steve Austin versus Dwayne The Rock Johnson.
12:09And then, of course, Meltzer countered with he had not heard about any matches
12:13specifically being thrown out and creative at this point.
12:17But it is very clear that legends are going to be contacted by WWE for this massive event.
12:24The Saudi Arabian contingency has always wanted the biggest names.
12:27Anyways, that's why we got the Brothers of Destruction versus DX match.
12:31That's why we got Goldberg, The Undertaker.
12:33That's why we get a lot of the matches we get there.
12:35It's because for the price they're paying, they want insane booking.
12:40And at this point, they've done enough shows there.
12:42This is not like glorified house shows anymore.
12:43This is legit business.
12:45And think about the people who they could give a truckload of money to and get them there.
12:50And we're not talking about this coming year.
12:52We're talking about a year and a half away,
12:54which even somebody was talking about The Rock losing the 60 pounds and looking so frail,
12:58which he claims is because he's playing the role of like a 70-year-old man in a movie.
13:02I don't know who to believe.
13:02I also saw that Kevin Nash said that he thought The Rock has a heart condition.
13:06Well, I'm not his doctor.
13:08I'm not his cardiologist.
13:10I'm not his agent, his press man.
13:12What I would say is this.
13:14If it's heart-related, obviously, we won't see The Rock wrestle ever again.
13:17If it is not, you have a year and a half for The Rock to bulk back up.
13:22Maybe that's where we finally get Rock and Roman.
13:24Maybe that is where we get to see Rock Stone Cold
13:26because Stone Cold has talked about possibly doing another match.
13:29Maybe we do get to see The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels,
13:31or The Undertaker somebody, maybe an Obafemi Undertaker match or something like that.
13:36We've got a lot of time to build to this.
13:38Think about other superstars that for the right amount of money, you might be able to get back.
13:42I don't think you get somebody like a Batista.
13:44He seems like money is not his thing.
13:46He's not beholden to that, and he really wanted to go out the way he wanted to go out.
13:49But, again, money talks.
13:51Maybe that is something we can make happen.
13:53Think about all the other talents that are out there that are just insane legends
13:58and what you could do one night only.
14:02And if I'm WWE, I would almost AEW-style stack this card.
14:08They want these shorter pay-per-views, not for this, not for $100 million.
14:11For $100 million, you put together back-to-back nights of like seven hours.
14:16I don't even care.
14:17If it's really going to be dream matches like that, then you knock it out of the park.
14:22And I know some people will be like, that's way too long.
14:24Well, guess what?
14:25You could get it on the network, whatever service you're using by then to watch pay-per-views,
14:29the ESPN app, or if you're a subscriber to the proper services, get it that way.
14:33But this would be an opportunity to check off every box you can dream of.
14:36Heck, if I was WWE, I would even approach, because word is he doesn't have an active contract,
14:42I would even approach Sting about doing Sting Undertaker.
14:45I really would.
14:46For that amount of money, Tony Khan would be disgusting if he didn't let Sting go do that.
14:50Let's be honest.
14:51He really would.
14:52And who knows what free agents become available between now and then in AEW.
14:57Would we have the opportunity to see a Kenny Omega versus Seth Rollins?
15:02Would we be able to have the opportunity to see something like a, oh gosh, I don't even know.
15:06Just think about some of the matches and some of the contracts that may come due between now and then.
15:09So, a lot to think about, a lot coming in the next year and a half.
15:14We'll have to keep our eyes on it.
15:15But WWE taking WrestleMania to Saudi Arabia apparently is a done deal.
15:20What an interesting time to be a WWE fan.
15:22I just feel bad for New Orleans, who's going to have to wait yet another year before they finally get that WrestleMania they were supposed to get next year.
15:28Just saying.
