02:56We'll get to those conversations on a future episode.
03:00Today, we are reacting to the huge episode of Raw last night.
03:05Lots of things going on.
03:06I mean, obviously, we can't talk about Raw and not talk about the big return.
03:10Look, I'm sorry.
03:13I know ahead of Raw, everybody in the world had a feeling Goldberg was going to be there.
03:17I know a whole lot of people were saying how they were upset that Gunther won the World Heavyweight Championship just so he could have a match with Goldberg at Saturday night's main event.
03:28I get it.
03:29I don't think you needed to put the championship on Gunther to have that match.
03:33I think that was where they went wrong.
03:34They should have left the championship on Jay.
03:36If you wanted to take the title off of Jay, you should not have gone to Gunther for this Goldberg match.
03:41The common theme with Goldberg is he shows up, gets a World Championship match, disappears.
03:47Now, I get it.
03:48This is the retirement match.
03:49So, he'll come back, get this last one, and disappear for good.
03:52And some people are happy about that.
03:53I'll be honest with you.
03:54When the guy walked out last night, he looks amazing.
03:56He looks as good now as he ever has.
03:57I don't necessarily want him to leave for good.
04:00He might want to, and that's totally up to him.
04:03But the way this is being done,
04:06You took a championship reign off of Jey Uso, who you booked terribly in the last 51 days of his reign.
04:12Then you put it on Gunther to have a match with a guy who's retiring.
04:17So, it should be blaringly obvious to everyone who wins that match.
04:21Let's think about it.
04:21Go down to the psychology of everything.
04:23John Cena is on his farewell tour as champion,
04:27and the whole thing is he ruins wrestling if he goes all year,
04:31never loses the belt, and retires as champion.
04:33So, can you really see Goldberg in his retirement match, winning the championship,
04:38and wouldn't he be also ruining wrestling,
04:41being the last world heavyweight champion if he leaves as champion?
04:45So, it doesn't make sense.
04:47There is no possibility for Goldberg to win the match.
04:50That's a problem.
04:52With no championship on the line,
04:54there are a million things you could have done to have Goldberg win.
04:57His son's involvement, Louis Kaiser's involvement,
04:59there are some people calling for Kaiser to turn on Gunther and join Seth Rollins.
05:04I'm okay with that,
05:05but this is not the time for the championship to be in the picture.
05:09If you wanted to take the belt off of Jay,
05:11you should have had Seth cash in on Jay at Money in the Bank.
05:15You should not have gone to Gunther.
05:16The Gunther Goldberg thing,
05:18it's counter-programming to AEW,
05:21and I'm okay with that.
05:22I understand the business aspect of it.
05:23As a fan, I hate it because I like to be able to see everything,
05:25but from a business standpoint,
05:28you don't want to leave all the eyes on one prize.
05:31You wanted to get some views on your stuff,
05:33keep the mainstream audience on WWE programming,
05:36and not letting them go watch the AEW product.
05:38I get it.
05:38I understand all of that,
05:40but you did not need the World Heavyweight Championship to do that.
05:44They should have done that separate.
05:45It's not totally differently.
05:48Let's go down the rest of the card.
05:49If we have to, we'll get back to the Goldberg stuff.
05:52The show started with a whole Liv Morgan, Dominic Mysterio segment.
05:56It led to EO Sky coming out.
05:59I don't know why they're trying to shove Morgan back into the Women's Championship picture so fast
06:03when they have brought up so many talents from NXT,
06:06they've cultivated so many people on their roster organically,
06:10and you have people like Asuka returning.
06:12It seems like it's a little much.
06:15I don't need Liv Morgan in the Women's Championship picture right now.
06:17I think it clouds the vision.
06:19Unless you don't have the faith in your other talents to carry the ball.
06:25Now, you've got Evolution coming up.
06:28Are you really going to tie EO Sky up with Liv Morgan?
06:30Are you going to have EO team with Nikki Bella?
06:33Are you going to bring back Brie like we talked about in a previous episode?
06:36If you do that and you have a Women's Tag Team match,
06:38why would you put Liv into a World Championship program right now with EO Sky?
06:42Why are we not building EO Sky to have a legitimate other opponent?
06:47All these questions just float around in my brain because it does not make sense.
06:51Somebody make it make sense to me why we would rush Liv Morgan back into the Women's Championship picture.
06:56That being said, she calls her out.
06:59She wants a World Championship match.
07:01Hopefully, I pray to God, we don't see that anytime soon.
07:04But it is what it is.
07:05I do love that EO got a little physical with Dominic Mysterio.
07:08I thought that was pretty cool.
07:09It went into the Women's Queen of the Ring qualifier.
07:13Stephanie Vakur, Ivy Nile, Raquel Rodriguez, and Asuka's return.
07:17I think when you look at all of these Fatal Four Ways,
07:20they all have one person who has to win.
07:22And three people who were there just to make sure it makes sense.
07:25Now, this one's a little different.
07:26You could see Vakur possibly winning, but she was just in Money in the Bank.
07:30So, I think this was the opportunity to have her interact a little bit with Asuka.
07:35And that way, you could still give Asuka the win, which of course did happen.
07:39But you could also give an opportunity for Stephanie Vakur, who just had that prime spot,
07:43and now give another opportunity to somebody else.
07:45And Vakur can wait in the wings until her time comes up.
07:48So, from there, we go into the Gunther part.
07:51I'm not going to rehash that.
07:52We covered that at the start of the show.
07:53But the one piece that I'll touch on with the Gunther coming out and doing his promo that leads to Goldberg making his return.
08:02I do love that Gunther was almost playing the babyface role, calling Seth Rollins out, telling him to come out.
08:08I'm right here.
08:10I do like the idea of the match, Seth and Gunther.
08:12Gunther, oddly, I actually see Gunther more as a babyface anyways.
08:17In the entirety of his run, most of the time when he's doing a promo, he just tells it like it is.
08:23You don't have to like what he says, but he's not lying to you.
08:26I kind of like that.
08:27I like Gunther.
08:28I think he's a great talent, obviously.
08:29But I also think his character, though he has some dastardly ways of doing things, is almost like being a babyface.
08:36Even though the fans don't react that way, that's the way I feel about his character.
08:40When he's calling Seth out, I actually got excited for that.
08:45Because I'm sure maybe this Goldberg thing happens first.
08:47But at some point, Gunther and Seth are going to lock horns.
08:50And I'm really, really up for seeing that.
08:53Maybe Seth cashes in at Saturday night's main event to set up a rematch at SummerSlam.
08:58I don't know.
08:58We'll have to wait and see.
09:00But there's a lot going on there in that World Championship picture.
09:03And again, back to Goldberg.
09:05He looked good.
09:06He sounded good.
09:08The fan reaction was amazing.
09:12I love that everybody loved hearing him come out so much.
09:15I love that he was so gracious.
09:16The first words out of his mouth were thank you.
09:20I don't think he takes for granted how people feel about him, his legacy, and what he's contributed.
09:24I don't think he would ever argue that he's the greatest catch-as-catch-can wrestler.
09:28But he definitely made an imprint.
09:30A very valuable one.
09:31It was a huge, huge part of wrestling history.
09:34And the fans don't forget.
09:35Wrestling fans, I'm not knocking any other sport, but wrestling fans have a long memory.
09:39And they care.
09:40They care to see their stars of yesteryear still come back and be able to contribute in some way to the business.
09:46And I think everything that he did was valuable.
09:48I really, really do.
09:49I thought the reaction when he got in his face and said, you're next, I thought it was interesting.
09:54Because he could have said, you're last.
09:58But he didn't.
09:59He said, you're next.
10:00Which, we all know, this is supposed to be a retirement thing.
10:04But that was what the Brock Lesnar match back in 2016 was supposed to be.
10:07It was a one-time thing.
10:09Survivor Series and done.
10:10And the reaction, his ability, the way he looked, the way he moved, all of it came off so well that they encouraged him to come back again and again and again.
10:19So I'm not saying that I expect anything to change.
10:23But he did say in the promo, he said, you know, you started something a few months ago with my family in Atlanta, Georgia.
10:29And I'm going to finish it in Atlanta, Georgia.
10:31Maybe he means his career.
10:32Maybe he just means the Gunther issue.
10:34But the way he looked and sounded, I'm almost sad if this is the end of Goldberg.
10:39Now, I don't want him in the world championship picture.
10:42You know, I think he's past that.
10:44But he's, I hate to say he's like Omos.
10:48He's an attraction.
10:49Omos is an attraction.
10:51Andre the Giant was an attraction.
10:54The Big Show should have been booked as an attraction.
10:57Somewhere there's an Inside the Ropes interview with Jim Ross who says how he begged Vince basically to make the Big Show a special attraction and not overexpose him.
11:05But he did.
11:06So that's what Goldberg should be.
11:08He doesn't need a belt.
11:09He doesn't need to be in a world championship picture.
11:11He just needs to appear.
11:13Can you imagine on the retirement tour, Goldberg, John Cena?
11:17There's an interesting one.
11:18I'm just saying.
11:20I just want to put it out there.
11:22Let you think about it for a little bit.
11:23It would not be the most terrible thing.
11:25The five moves of doom versus the Jack Hammer Spear guy.
11:29Just saying.
11:29From there, we went into AJ Styles, JD McDonald.
11:31What a worthless match.
11:32I understand it furthers the Intercontinental Championship storyline.
11:35But it's convoluting things too because you still have Finn involved there also.
11:40If we're going to do Finn and Dom at SummerSlam, then I guess the AJ thing is just filler for Crown Jewel.
11:46So it's fine.
11:47But I kind of wanted to see AJ win it.
11:50That belt would look great on AJ, especially with the blue highlights now.
11:53But I don't know.
11:55I feel like this Judgment Day stuff is just taking forever.
11:57It's almost like when they're trying to split up, oh gosh, Austin Theory and Grayson Waller.
12:06How it takes forever.
12:07This Judgment Day split is taking forever too.
12:09I need them to get on with it.
12:10It's really boring the snot out of me at this point.
12:15We have Bayley come out next.
12:16She cuts her promo.
12:18Has her back and forth with Becky Lynch who also comes out.
12:21I did like to slap into a punch at the end of the segment.
12:25I think, oddly, I hate to say this because I'm a huge fan of Bayley's.
12:29I think she's, you know, when she joked about Michael Cole, made a comment towards Michael Cole about being a future Hall of Famer, which I don't disagree with.
12:35But it's almost shocking to me that someone is a future Hall of Famer who I feel like still struggles great, great struggles with the microphone.
12:45She doesn't, she sounds too scripted to me.
12:48And I'm not knocking her.
12:49That's whoever creates the promos in the back to feed to her.
12:52But she, it sounds too scripted.
12:54And we're talking about, again, like a quote unquote future Hall of Famer.
12:58You would think they would have developed the speaking element more because she can do it.
13:02She's done it before when she was doing her talk show and all that kind of stuff.
13:04And she can clearly talk.
13:06Whoever wrote this promo, not doing her any favors.
13:10From there, we get into the weird part of the night.
13:12Liv Morgan comes back out.
13:13Now she has her match with Kairi Sane.
13:15They literally lock up, go into a wrist lock takedown, and she hits the mat and her shoulder was not having it.
13:23It looks like it was a legitimate injury.
13:25There are reports out today.
13:26I saw one by the Wrestling Observer, one by, gosh, Wrestling News Source, that they believe that she has a dislocated shoulder that could theoretically keep her out of action for up to 16 weeks.
13:38That would be terrible.
13:39Especially with Evolution 2 right around the corner and her already being kind of interwoven into an important storyline with that.
13:48Hopefully, it's not so serious and she can come back sooner.
13:51They're not going to write her off TV for, like, some outside project.
13:54It was nothing like that.
13:55It was a legit injury.
13:56Win to Kairi Sane.
13:57Think about that for a minute.
13:59Kairi Sane was complaining a couple weeks ago how she never gets a win.
14:01Now she's had multiple wins and she just beat Liv Morgan.
14:04I understand not in the way that you kind of thought it was going to happen, but nonetheless, Kairi Sane has a documented win over Liv Morgan.
14:11That is pretty cool to me.
14:13We go into the last match, the main event.
14:17Jey Uso versus Rusev versus Sheamus versus Bronson Reed.
14:22King of the Ring qualifier match.
14:24Going into this, if you look at those four guys, the only two that I thought had a legitimate chance to win were Uso and Rusev.
14:31Rusev because he's back in new and over, big with the crowd.
14:35Uso because he's Uso.
14:37Sheamus had no chance because the winner was going to face Cody Rhodes.
14:39I could see Rusev, Cody.
14:41I could see Jey and Cody.
14:42I can't see Sheamus and Cody or Bronson Reed and Cody.
14:44I just can't see that.
14:47I could have seen Bronson if there wasn't so much outside interference during all the other Fatal 4-Ways.
14:53So you already knew that was going to happen.
14:55This match was really solid.
14:56The action was solid.
14:57A lot of heavy hits going down.
14:59It really was a slobber knocker, to use a Jim Ross-ism.
15:04At one point, when Bronson Reed crashed into the barricade outside, I actually thought he might have given himself a freaking concussion.
15:13You see the look on the referee's face as he runs out to check on him at one point, thinking there must have been something wrong with him too, the way he was sitting there.
15:20I love the tsunamis, the Samoan drops, all that kind of stuff.
15:25It was a really, really good physical match.
15:27Jay Uso picking up the win.
15:29I got to say, one of the things that kind of bothers me, I get it, but it bothers me, is almost every single one of the men's qualifiers has had outside interference.
15:41The King of the Ring tournament, going all the way back to Don Morocco and Harley Race and Junkyard Dog and you name it, all the way through, to the Bret Hart's, to the Sheamus's, to the William Regal's.
15:52The matches were matches.
15:54Did people ever cheat to win?
15:56Yes, of course.
15:57But not with all this outside interference.
15:59It takes away from the legitimacy and the legacy of the King of the Ring to have all of these outside interference matches.
16:06I love it because it got Jay to win and Jay needed to win, but not loving all the interference in all the matches.
16:14I feel like it has really taken away from the tournament.
16:16Men's and women's.
16:18Just let the people wrestle.
16:20Let somebody come up with a win.
16:21We act like, nowadays, that just because somebody picks up a loss, it somehow tarnishes their entire legacy.
16:28That's ridiculous.
16:30Go back to the wrestling classic, the one that the Junkyard Dog won the tournament in.
16:34He beats Randy Savage in the final.
16:36It didn't destroy Randy Savage.
16:38Randy Savage went on an Intercontinental Championship run within weeks, beating Tito Santana and running for a year almost with the belt.
16:46It didn't take away from Randy Savage.
16:48If anything, it enhanced Randy Savage.
16:51Earlier matches in that tournament, they didn't destroy people.
16:55They made people, even if they lost.
16:58What happened to the art form of creating talent without always having to have a win?
17:02And let some people win for a change, for God's sake.
17:05This is a little ridiculous to me.
17:07Everything had to have interference, but it is what it is.
17:10Now, at the end of the show, I thought what was really interesting was Seth Rollins' music hits.
17:14He makes his way out.
17:15Everybody else is laid out.
17:16Jay Usu's standing in the ring.
17:18It's obvious he's going after Jay.
17:20And then Cody's music hits.
17:22And Cody slides into the ring.
17:24And he and Seth have an interesting past.
17:26You know, you got...
17:27You have to go all the way back to the early Shield stuff versus the Rhodes Brothers for the Tag Team Championship.
17:32That's cool.
17:32You go to his return at WrestleMania 38.
17:36He and Seth having that classic.
17:38Then going to Hell in Cell with the torn pec.
17:42You go to the Royal Rumble, where Cody comes back and ends up winning the Rumble, going to WrestleMania 39.
17:50Then you see WrestleMania 40.
17:52The lead up to it, where it was going to be Punk and Seth for the World Championship.
17:57And because of Punk's injury, Seth gets into a program with Cody and becomes basically his shield during this program.
18:03Having a tag team match with Roman and The Rock.
18:05And then coming to his aid the next night when his Avengers Unite moment takes place at WrestleMania 40.
18:11There's been so much with Cody and Seth that when he slid into the ring last night and they were looking at each other face-to-face, eye-to-eye,
18:20you almost had to wonder.
18:21You had to think in the back of your head.
18:23Could Cody turn right now?
18:26The way they were looking at each other.
18:27Could Cody have turned, joined Seth, and attacked Jay?
18:31Because it almost looked that way for a second.
18:33I'm not going to lie.
18:34As I was watching it, I was like, oh my.
18:37Could this really happen?
18:38And I was thinking real quick in my head, I'm like, gosh, how would they do that?
18:42How could...
18:43Because there has to be a leader of the faction.
18:44Cody's not going to be subordinate to Seth.
18:46And Seth's not going to be subordinate to Cody.
18:48And coexistence never works.
18:50I was like, they can't really do this.
18:51And then, of course, you have Seth leave.
18:53So we know that's not going to happen right now.
18:55Of course, we do have Cody next week against Jay.
18:58What if Seth comes out and helps Cody win?
19:00Does that mess with Cody?
19:02Somewhere along the line, I don't want it.
19:05But I think we're going to get a Cody heel turn.
19:08We'll have to wait and see when that happens.
19:09We're also probably going to see a John Cena turn back to being a babyface at some point.
19:12Maybe that's why.
19:14Cody and Seth...
19:15I'm sorry, Cody and Cena.
19:16Maybe that's how they get the belt off of Cena.
19:19With a double flip again.
19:20And now Cody's a bad guy.
19:21I don't know.
19:22But this was interesting.
19:23And then, of course, Jay and Cody shaking hands because they will face each other in the tournament next week.
19:30In the next round.
19:31Interesting.
19:32Interesting pairings.
19:34I don't hate any of it.
19:36I think it'll be interesting.
19:37To see two really hard...
19:40Not just babyfaces, but like faces of the company babyfaces.
19:43Go in it and go at it.
19:45And see how those things turn out.
19:47The other side of the bracket.
19:49Randy Orton versus Sami Zayn.
19:52I expect Sami Zayn to lose to Randy Orton.
19:54I expect Cody to win.
19:57I'm going to see Cody versus Randy Orton at Crown Jewel.
20:01I think that's rushing it.
20:03I'd rather wait for that to be for a championship at a major PLE.
20:06But WWE and TKO seem to be pushing these things faster than they need to.
20:11So I have to wait and see how that happens.
20:13Got to wrap up a few other things real quick.
20:15Braun Strowman, former WWE superstar, will be at a charity golf tournament.
20:18Oddly enough, appearing with, at the same tournament, the 2025 Bush Family Classic Charity Golf Tournament in Maine.
20:28He'll be there playing alongside people like former U.S. President George W. Bush and several other people.
20:34They do a fundraiser for Gary's House, a program through Northern Light Mercy Hospital.
20:40So if you're in that area, feel free to pop out.
20:42Say hi to Braun and support the cause.
20:45Karrion Kross, in the news this week for a couple of reasons.
20:49One, still no word on a contract conversation.
20:52He put a post out on social media complaining about not being in Money in the Bank or in the King of the Ring tournaments.
20:57We saw the bit on Raw where he's going to, at some point, have a match with Sami Zayn.
21:01That should have happened months ago.
21:02But he also put out a conversational piece about how he really wants Moxley to come back to WWE so the two of them can have a program.
21:11They had a brief encounter at a show when Moxley had first left at Future Stars of Wrestling, Natural Born Killers.
21:19It took place right after Moxley left WWE.
21:23He's hoping he comes back to WWE so they can run it back.
21:26But how do you do that if you don't have a contract?
21:28So either he's optimistic he'll get one, or he knows if he doesn't get one, he can always go to AEW and possibly have that.
21:36Speaking of AEW, Jamie Hayter in the news.
21:38She is injured once again.
21:40That poor thing cannot seem to stay healthy.
21:42Gone for over a year with her last injury.
21:44Now out again ever since the match with Mercedes-Monnaie.
21:47The attack by Tekler was probably, Telco was probably supposed to be a little different, but because of her physical condition, had to be short and awkward.
21:59Speedy recovery, hopefully for her.
22:01Over the weekend, the big news, AAA had their TripleMania card.
22:06Vikingo retained the AAA championship over Alberto Del Rio or Alberto El Patron.
22:10I actually thought they were going to flip the title back to him.
22:13To me, the biggest news coming out of that show was the AAA tag team championship going to WWE superstars rather than, which I thought was interesting.
22:26You had the TNA world tag team champions, the Nemeths in their, you know, if you watch the show, which by the way is available free on YouTube.
22:35To see TNA tag team champions, the AAA tag team champions, Pagano and Psycho Clown, who are amazing.
22:43At the end of the match, she's Berto and Humberto and, and, and, and I always forget the other guys, Garza.
22:50They're on the outside of the ring.
22:51You see Pagano and Psycho Clown dive over the ropes and take out one of the other teams, leaving in the ring somebody who's been taken out.
22:58And then the other two get in and they may pick up the pin and win the tag team championship.
23:00So the AAA tag team title is currently being held by a WWE main roster tag team.
23:05Very strange to me.
23:07We are living in strange times, but it just shows you how WWE's fingerprints are all over AAA's product from here on forward.
23:14And Carlito, you know, now that he is officially a free agent, he can work wherever he wants.
23:19Won the, uh, WWC Puerto Rican championship and his dad's promotion only a day before he announced he was leaving WWE.
23:25But he was in, in, in a interview with Busted Open Radio explaining that all the comedic aspects of his character in his most recent WWE run were, were his.
23:33He said he, they, he created that and they, they allowed him to do that.
23:37They gave him the creative control and, um, he got a lot of support to do that, which is a tribute to Triple H's style.
23:44Um, Triple H has been much more open to creative input from the talent, which is great for them because it gives them an opportunity to showcase those other sides of them.
23:55If creative is not coming up with stuff for them, they got to come up with something for themselves.
23:59And I think he did a great job.
24:00I thought he was very entertaining this last run.
24:03And, um, now it's just a matter of time waiting to see what he does next.
24:07That's all the time we have for this episode.
