00:00Do tell. National voices, you say.
00:03Yeah, yeah, a couple of them.
00:05We all saw the piece that came out,
00:07and they were kind of rat-a-tat-tat-ing,
00:10all you Brockostans, a couple of fan favorites, question mark?
00:15A guy I've never met but really can't stand,
00:18which means he's doing a good job, Nick Wright,
00:21and a guy who I also haven't met who just bothers me,
00:24but somebody who's at the top of the pyramid, Colin Cowherd.
00:28He bothers you?
00:28He just kind of bothers me a little bit.
00:30Why does he bother you?
00:31Part of it's his voice, and we'll hear it coming up,
00:34and just a little too smug for me,
00:37a little too smarmy, a little smug.
00:41He just kind of bugs me. He doesn't really bug me.
00:43He's too smug for you, but you do a show with me
00:46and talk to Steve Kerr all the time?
00:49I don't think that Steve is necessarily smug.
00:52He's been called that before.
00:53Yeah, your smugtitude is just different,
00:56because you also have a goofiness and a humility,
00:59and I know you personally.
01:01I don't care.
01:02I don't know these men at all.
01:04So if I didn't know you and just listened to you,
01:07yeah, I probably wouldn't like you either.
01:11He deserved it.
01:12Didn't mean to say that when you had your bubbly water.
01:14Didn't mean to say that when you had a sip of water.
01:15Wow, that could have really gotten some equipment in here.
01:18No doubt.
01:19No doubt.
01:20Oh, yeah, thanks a lot.
01:21You got it, Steve.
01:22We'll be talking to you soon.
01:24All right.
01:25You all want to play this game?
01:26You want to hear it?
01:26Let's hear it.
01:27Okay, so 888-957-9570.
01:30I'm just warning everybody right now,
01:31it's going to be hot.
01:32It's about to get hot.
01:34It's going to be fun.
01:35You ready?
01:37Are you ready?
01:38Oh, I'm ready.
01:38Okay, so who came on the show, not yesterday,
01:43but two days ago,
01:44who had been asked to be on 100 some odd radio stations
01:48across the nation because of the content
01:50that he put out into the world?
01:53Who came on?
01:53Mike Sando, the athletic,
01:54and his annual quarterback tears,
01:56and we all eat it up like Goldilocks eats porridge.
02:00Right, so we were one of the first.
02:02The first day that it came out,
02:04we had Sando on.
02:05We talked it out.
02:06He gave us data.
02:09I asked him a silly question.
02:11He told me it was a great question.
02:12I victory lapped.
02:14This is basically a summary of what happened two days ago.
02:17Well, 48 hours later,
02:18this information inside the athletic,
02:22the 2025 quarterback tears,
02:25as voted on by NFL executives and coaches,
02:29has made its way all the way to FS1
02:32and the combo, in this particular case,
02:35of Colin Cowherd and Nick Wright.
02:38So, buckle up.
02:40Here we go.
02:41Nick Wright is first.
02:42It should be noted,
02:43people are awful quiet these days.
02:46You know who we don't hear from so much anymore
02:47these days, Colin?
02:49What?
02:49The Brock Purdy truthers.
02:51They were chirping at you and me for quite a while,
02:54and now he's hanging on for dear life in Tier 2,
02:58about to drop to Tier 3 when this thing comes out next year,
03:00and you don't hear from as much anymore.
03:02I thought this quarterback tears was,
03:05I thought they were really well done,
03:07as they typically are.
03:08Okay, but first reaction.
03:10I thought these tears were expertly done.
03:13You do not get to victory lap on something
03:17that hasn't happened yet.
03:18And he's not hanging on for dear life.
03:21And, yeah, he's down two spots,
03:23and he's at the bottom of Tier 2.
03:25I mean, what if he goes out and has a year like he did two years ago?
03:28Is he still hanging on for dear life, Nick?
03:29No, but they're over here victory lapping that next year
03:32he's already on Tier 3, which is factually incorrect.
03:35You don't know that.
03:36Okay.
03:36Stage 1, Nick Wright.
03:39Are you ready for the, I won't call it a rebuttal,
03:43but the continuation sensation.
03:45That's right.
03:45On the part of...
03:47Cha-ching!
03:49Colin Cowherd.
03:50When Dak, as a fourth-rounder, came in,
03:53and the Cowboys had Zeke, who was the best back in the league,
03:55the best offensive line, an offensive coach,
03:57the division was kind of wonky,
03:59and they could spend money because they were paying Dak.
04:02Yeah, they were three.
04:02And then the more they relied on him.
04:04Well, if you go to Brock Purdy's first year as a full-time starter,
04:08he had four pro bowlers on offense.
04:10Now their receiving core in this camp is a mess.
04:12And in his last 15 games, as the team got old, brittle,
04:16is losing defensive players, meaning they're in more shootouts.
04:19Do you know what Brock Purdy is in his last 15 games?
04:21He's 6-9, and they just paid him.
04:24So my take is, what Brock Purdy is going through,
04:28not only the last 15 games, but in this camp,
04:30where all his receivers are gone or hurt is,
04:33that's the real NFL, not Dak's rookie year or Brock's first two years.
04:38Oh, banana land.
04:40Why on earth is that the real NFL?
04:43Why is that the norm?
04:45The number one most injured team in the NFL last year, I'm told, is the norm.
04:52That's what everyone goes through.
04:55That's what all the good quarterbacks go through.
04:58In other words, do you see what Purdy haters do for a living,
05:05which is they define people by their worst moments.
05:09And that's what I've never been able to stand
05:11about this entire conversation,
05:13because to be real with you, Dibs,
05:15it kind of triggers me into real life.
05:18I don't like human beings who judge others on their worst moments.
05:23You don't get to do that.
05:26You hear it all the time.
05:27Somebody will get off to a good start, right?
05:30Warriors last year, you're 12-3.
05:33Then you go through November or December or whatever the month was,
05:37and you have a bad month.
05:39And there's a line of people around the block to go see,
05:41oh, no, no, no, that's who they really are.
05:42Right.
05:43Why are they not also the person or the team that did the good stuff?
05:48Why?
05:49No, that's not real life.
05:50Real life is not your worst moments the same way it's not your best moments.
05:54It's a blending of all of those things.
05:56And if you do blend all of those things through Brock's three years,
06:00you have zero argument that he's not a good quarterback.
06:03None.
06:03Last year is an argument, but even at that,
06:06the thing that irked me about the cowherd piece is, for one,
06:10it's so arbitrary when you draw the line at his last 15 starts.
06:14If you go back into the previous year,
06:16including the playoffs where he went to the Super Bowl, he's 15-11.
06:20So we chose 15 starts because that suited the narrative.
06:23We all do it, but I dismiss it as it should be dismissed when I do it.
06:28And the other thing he mentioned, he used a four-letter word like four different times
06:32talking about camp, and the receivers are a mess in camp.
06:37Okay, what do you know about camp?
06:39It's August 13th, and they don't play a real game for, I think it's 24 days now?
06:46No, I think it's 25 days.
06:48I apologize.
06:4921 minus 13 is 18 plus 7.
06:51It's 3 plus 4 is 25.
06:53Nice job.
06:54We all mathed it up together.
06:55So whatever you think about their receivers in camp and their team being brittle
07:01and their defense falling apart and everyone leaving town,
07:05none of those things are factual, and none of them matter in mid-August.
07:09Remember Ocean's Eleven?
07:10Yeah.
07:10When George Clooney looks at Brad Pitt, you think we need one more?
07:15All right, I'll get you one more.
07:16One more receiver?
07:17Nope.
07:18One more piece of commentary.
07:21Oh, God.
07:21Back to Nick Wright.
07:22The Brock Purdy folks are not going to be reasoned with.
07:27And I've said this before, but I will say it again.
07:29This is essentially a six-year-long, how-do-you-view-football war that started with Jimmy Garoppolo.
07:39Jimmy Garoppolo won, but objectively was not that good.
07:44And some people were like, nope, he's a winner.
07:46He's got it.
07:47And there were those of us who were like, I actually think with that coaching and that talent
07:54and that scheme, you could throw almost anyone in there and they would be successful.
08:00And those folks were like, no, you can't.
08:02And by the way, how would you ever prove that?
08:04And then they put in literally the last player picked in the draft and added Christian McCaffrey.
08:10And instead of those folks being like, oh, yeah, the talent, the scheme, and the coaching,
08:13they're like, nope, that guy's a superstar.
08:15And then those of us were like, no, he has this amazing team around him.
08:19And they said, well, how do you know he wouldn't do it if he didn't have that team around him?
08:23And then last year, he didn't have it around him.
08:26They won six games and they're like, no, Brock Purdy's still great.
08:29Like, he's fine.
08:30He's overachieved for his draft status.
08:33I'm happy for him and his family.
08:34He got paid.
08:35But anybody that watches the NFL and thinks he is a force multiplier or he is a substantially,
08:42you know, that he is unfairly ranked and the 14, 15, 16 range, there's just, they're not
08:48going to, they're not open to the evidence that keeps pouring in year after year or game
08:55after game.
08:55Just buckets of crap in these comments.
08:57Make it stop.
08:58First of all, don't add the 14, 15, 16.
09:01You don't get to do that.
09:03Um, these particular tears had him at number 14 and this is what you say, oh, Brock Purdy
09:10stands won't be reasoned with.
09:12Neither can you, neither can you be reasoned with Nick and Colin and the rest of you that
09:18continue to play this ridiculous cycled game of thinking that you've proven something when
09:26you're actually putting words in other people's mouths that no one ever said.
09:30And this is the classic game they play.
09:33Oh, those Brock Purdy stands will keep yelling at you that he's a superstar.
09:37No one ever has said that.
09:41Even you, the president of Brockistan.
09:43None of us.
09:44No.
09:44Those tier one guys, I have never put his name in that group ever.
09:52No.
09:52Why would you?
09:53If you want to say he might be ninth or 10th as opposed to 14th, let's have an adult conversation.
10:00If anybody's putting his name next to Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen, that's silly.
10:05The same way any other QB in tier two, tier three or otherwise does not belong in that conversation.
10:12And that has quorum.
10:15Nobody doesn't think that.
10:16So please stop putting those words in the mouths of the people who disagree with you because
10:23no one is saying that.
10:25Classic debate tactic.
10:27Yes.
10:27It's the snarling dog theory.
10:29And also, stop talking about how he benefits from this great coach and this great system,
10:35implying that nobody else does.
10:36And if you look at the teams over the last six years, the Niners are 60 and 40 with Jimmy
10:41and Brock, all the other teams that have better records, guess what?
10:45Great coaches, great systems, and an equal amount of great talent.
10:50It's not like he's the only one who's benefiting from a great team and a great coach.
10:55They all are.
10:55I'm sorry.
10:56Once again, Joe Burrow's record last year?
10:59Yeah.
11:00What did the Bengals do when they got to the playoffs?
11:04Forgot.
11:04That's right.
11:05That's the unanimous tier one QB, but we don't want to play the tier game or the results
11:11game when things go backwards with his defense.
11:15We don't want to do that.
11:17They have a losing record over the last six years.
11:1946-52-1.
11:22The Niners have the sixth best record in the regular season.
11:25The five teams ahead of them, great coaches, great systems.
11:28All right.
11:28So who's the banana head?
11:31The Purdy Stans?
11:33The Purdy Haters?
