00:00Okay, we're going to have a look today at the book of Zephaniah and the day of the Lord.
00:07Let's have a word of prayer as we come to the word of God.
00:10We thank you that your word is truth, pray that you help me to speak, help us to learn something from this passage.
00:15And may your word go out and accomplish your purposes, we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
00:22Okay, Zephaniah, one of the minor prophets, you'll find him towards the end of the Old Testament.
00:26And we're speaking particularly about the subject of Zephaniah and the day of the Lord.
00:34Chapter 1, verse 14 says the day of the Lord is near.
00:38And last week in the prophecy talk I related some of the quotes from Zephaniah to the state of the world today,
00:45coming judgment upon our nation, upon the world, general state of chaos,
00:51the results of this government saying they're going to recognize a Palestinian state,
00:55all the troubles which are coming, all the signs which we see of the coming day of the Lord.
01:00I'm not going to speak particularly about the current events this morning.
01:03I'm going to speak something about the scriptures which come to mind as we look at this passage.
01:10Zephaniah is a minor prophet.
01:13Minor prophets are called minor prophets because they're shorter than the major prophets.
01:17And it doesn't mean they don't have a major message, which they do.
01:22His name means Zephaniah, or the Lord hides.
01:28And as you'll see, there is a theme which we're going to look at of being hidden in the Lord.
01:32And in the first verse of Zephaniah, we have the verse which says,
01:37The word of the Lord, which came to Zephaniah, the son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah,
01:45in the days of Josiah, the son of Ammon, king of Judah.
01:49All of those names were actually quite significant names that he was descended from.
01:56But it also says he came and he preached in the days of Josiah.
02:02What do we know about Josiah?
02:05Josiah was one of the good kings of Judah.
02:08I thought he was one of the best.
02:09One of the last kings of Judah before the Babylonian invasion.
02:13And under his reign, there was a measure of revival in Judea.
02:17Judah, after the wicked king Manasseh, had taken Judah into apostasy and idolatry.
02:24Manasseh was actually one of the worst of Israel's Judah's kings.
02:28He reigned for some 50 years.
02:30Did a lot of damage in those years.
02:32He took Israel into apostasy and idolatry.
02:36In his time, the word of God was suppressed and virtually unknown.
02:39In fact, according to some Jewish traditions, he burned the Torah scrolls.
02:45Not a direct statement of that, but in rabbinic literature,
02:47it says that Manasseh personally burned, his actions were,
02:55he burned the names of God and destroyed the altar.
02:57That's what it says in the Talmud.
03:00And rabbinic discourses actually connect Manasseh's actions directly to the catastrophic event
03:05which was going to take place after the reign of Josiah,
03:08which was the Babylonian invasion, the destruction of the temple, first temple,
03:13and the first exile of the Jewish people into Babylon.
03:18They saw that the sins of the people were responsible for this and the subsequent exile.
03:242 Chronicles 23 does recall that Manasseh actually repented and made a penitential prayer,
03:29which is still in existence.
03:30It's not in the Bible, but it is referred to in 2 Chronicles chapter 33.
03:362 Kings doesn't make any mention of Manasseh's repentance,
03:39but just recalls his wickedness.
03:42Now, 2 Kings 22 has an interesting incident in which Manasseh,
03:46which at the beginning of his reign,
03:48King Josiah ordered that there should be a clear out of the temple.
03:52A whole lot of rubbish had come in,
03:54including idols and all kinds of things which were dishonoring to God.
03:58And as they cleared out the temple,
04:00they discovered a book.
04:03It turned out to be the Book of the Law.
04:05Probably it was a Torah scroll.
04:08Probably some scholars believe it may have been the scroll of the Book of Deuteronomy.
04:13And there's evidence, clearly from the text which follows,
04:16which you're going to read in a moment,
04:17that the Torah had been neglected in the days of Manasseh.
04:22So, reading from 2 Kings chapter 22 verse 8,
04:25it says,
04:25Then Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe,
04:29I've found the Book of the Law in the house of the Lord.
04:33And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
04:36So Shaphan the scribe went to the king, bringing the king word,
04:39saying, Your servants have gathered the money that was found in the house,
04:43and have delivered it into the hand of those who do the work,
04:45who oversee the house of the Lord.
04:48Then Shaphan the scribe showed the king,
04:50saying, Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.
04:54And Shaphan read it before the king.
04:57Interesting, it says, he's given me a book.
04:59He hasn't given me the book, he's given me a book.
05:01What's this book?
05:02Give us a book.
05:03It's the Book of the Law.
05:05The Word of God.
05:06And they seemed to have been so neglectful of it,
05:09that all they could say is, give me a book.
05:10I know, some books were found there.
05:11And so they decided to read it.
05:16Shaphan read it before the king.
05:17Now it happened when the king heard the words of the book of the law,
05:20that he tore his clothes.
05:21Then the king commanded Hilkiah the priest,
05:23Ahikem the son of Shaphan,
05:25Achbor the son of Micaiah,
05:27Shaphan the scribe,
05:27and Esaiah the servant of the king,
05:29saying, Go, inquire of the Lord for me,
05:32for the people and for all Judah
05:33concerning the words of this book that has been found.
05:36For great is the wrath of the law that has aroused against us,
05:39because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book
05:42to do according to all that is written concerning us.
05:46Okay, so they found a book.
05:47They were obviously unfamiliar with it.
05:49And when they read it,
05:51they found,
05:52We are in trouble.
05:53We're in big trouble.
05:55Because this book tells us how we should live,
05:57how we should worship God only,
05:59how we should keep his commandments,
06:01how we should live with justice and honourable,
06:04and we should keep commandments not to steal,
06:06not to commit adultery,
06:08not to lie.
06:09We should keep these commandments.
06:10We should honour one God.
06:12And we haven't done any of it.
06:14So we're in big, big trouble with God.
06:16And if they read to the end of the book of Deuteronomy,
06:18chapter 28,
06:19it was said that all these blessings are going to follow you
06:21if you bless,
06:22if you keep God's words.
06:22And then there's a much longer section
06:24which says all these curses are going to come upon you
06:26if you don't keep these words.
06:28And the last of the curses,
06:30which is written in the book of Deuteronomy,
06:32is that you'll be taken from this land
06:33and you'll be taken into exile.
06:36And there you'll be in a land of people
06:38who worship gods of stone and idols.
06:40And you will have to live your life in a foreign land.
06:44So that would be the final judgment.
06:47And as they read this book,
06:48they realised we're in this trouble.
06:49We're in this big, big trouble.
06:50And God is going to come and bring judgment upon us.
06:55And so they actually did something about it.
07:00Josiah, as I said,
07:01was one of the good kings of Judah.
07:03And he instituted a clean-up.
07:06He got rid of some of the idols.
07:08And he ordered people to worship the Lord
07:10and to keep God's commandments.
07:13And he did this in response to a prophecy
07:15which was given to him.
07:16And we'll read now in 2 Kings chapter 22,
07:19verse 14 to 20.
07:21They went to a lady called Huldah the prophetess.
07:29A lady.
07:30Notice that, gents.
07:32We say that women shouldn't minister.
07:33Well, I agree that there is a place for men to minister
07:36and women to minister.
07:37But here was a woman
07:38who was given a very strong prophecy from the Lord
07:40and was clearly speaking from God.
07:43So Hilkiah the priest,
07:45Ahikam, Achbor and Shephan and Asiah
07:47went to Huldah the prophetess,
07:49the wife of Shalom,
07:50the son of Tikva,
07:51son of Harkas,
07:52keeper of the wardrobe.
07:54She dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter.
07:56And they spoke to her
07:57and she said to them,
07:58Thus says the Lord God of Israel,
07:59Tell the man who sent you to me,
08:01Thus says the Lord,
08:02Behold, I will bring calamity on this place
08:04and on its inhabitants.
08:06All the words of the book
08:07which the king of Judah has read.
08:09Because they have forsaken me
08:11and burned incense to other gods,
08:13that they might provoke me to anger
08:14with all the works of their hands.
08:17Therefore my wrath shall be arised against this place
08:19and shall not be quenched.
08:20But as for the king of Judah
08:21who sent you to inquire of the Lord,
08:23in this manner you shall speak to him.
08:25Thus says the Lord God of Israel
08:26concerning the words which you have heard,
08:28Because your heart was tender
08:30and you humbled yourself before the Lord
08:31when you heard what I spoke against this place
08:34and against its inhabitants,
08:35that they will become a desolation and a curse.
08:38And you tore your clothes and wept before me,
08:40I have also heard you, says the Lord.
08:42Surely therefore I will gather you to your fathers
08:44and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace
08:46and your eyes shall not see all the calamity
08:48which I shall bring in on this place.
08:50So they brought back word to the king.
08:54So a pretty strong prophecy.
08:56Prophecy warns that the calamity
08:58is going to come upon this place.
09:01Because of what's happened already,
09:02because of the sin which has been built up,
09:04because of the rebellion,
09:05because of the forsaking of the word of the Lord,
09:07because you've been worshipping other gods
09:09in the place where you should be worshipping
09:10the one true God of Israel,
09:12God is going to bring this disaster upon your nation
09:15and you're not going to escape from it.
09:18But there's a word of comfort to Josiah
09:19because he will be taken to be with the Lord
09:22before the disaster comes.
09:23And there was a measure of revival in Josiah's time
09:27which produced many outward changes.
09:29There was the prophecies,
09:31the prophet Jeremiah was prophesying,
09:33telling the people to repent,
09:35and Zephaniah was prophesying,
09:37and you had a movement of God which took place.
09:41But it's generally believed that it was,
09:44didn't go deep enough, it didn't go far enough,
09:46that the people didn't really change in their hearts
09:48and they still clung on to their idolatrous ways.
09:51And when Josiah died,
09:53it went back again to how it was before.
09:55And the judgment came.
09:58And that was the reason why Jeremiah was prophesying
10:01and Zephaniah was prophesying in this way,
10:04prophesying of a judgment that's coming.
10:07And before we get into looking at Zephaniah,
10:08could I just say that there may be some parallels
10:10with this nation?
10:12Has this nation honoured the God
10:15which we have been blessed by in the past?
10:19Have we kept the commandments of God?
10:20Have we kept worshipping the one true God
10:22through Jesus Christ?
10:24Or have we trashed our traditions, our faith,
10:28all that we have received from God?
10:30Have we got rid of the word of God?
10:32Has the church, the official church,
10:34brought in other gods,
10:35brought in other lifestyles
10:37which are contrary to the word of God?
10:39Has that happened?
10:40And I see a lot of people nodding their heads in agreement.
10:43Yeah, it has happened.
10:44As a result of this,
10:46is it likely that God will bring judgment upon this nation?
10:50And not just upon this nation,
10:51but upon this whole world
10:53which is provoking God to judgment all the time.
10:58And I would say that the answer to that is yes.
11:00There is an inevitability that the judgment is coming.
11:04And that is not good news.
11:06Not good news for you.
11:08Not good news for the world.
11:09So we have to find a way in which we also,
11:12as people who do believe in God,
11:15believe in the law,
11:16who are grieving over the things which have taken place
11:18in our nation,
11:20the idolatry,
11:21the sin,
11:22indoctrination of children with wicked ways
11:25and sexual immorality.
11:26They're bringing into the church of worship of other gods,
11:31yoga,
11:31Islam.
11:32All these things have been brought into our nation
11:34which are contrary to the truth of the scriptures.
11:36All these things are bringing God's judgment upon this nation.
11:39So what can we do about it?
11:44And how can we be saved in the day of trouble?
11:47Zephaniah has a strong message,
11:48a message of warning.
11:50And we'll look at some of the things which Zephaniah says.
11:53But he also speaks about how to be hidden
11:55in the day of trouble,
11:56which is the thing we're going to close this talk with.
12:00So Zephaniah chapter 1 and verse 4.
12:04It says,
12:05I will stretch out my hand against Judah,
12:07against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
12:09I will cut off every trace of Baal from this place,
12:12the names of the idolatrous priests
12:14for the pagan priests,
12:15those who worship the host of heaven on the housetops,
12:18those who worship and swear oaths by the Lord,
12:21but also swear by Milcom,
12:23those who turn back from following the Lord
12:25and have not sought the Lord nor inquired of him.
12:27Be silent in the presence of the Lord,
12:30for the day of the Lord is at hand.
12:33We have here a particular reference to religious corruption,
12:36bringing Baal worship,
12:38worship of the false god of Baal,
12:40pagan god,
12:41into the house of the Lord,
12:43worshipping foreign gods.
12:45Prophecy goes on to speak about behaving with violence,
12:48with deceit.
12:50And he tells people to gather together
12:51before the decree is issued,
12:53before the decree of God's anger,
12:55to get ready before the day of the Lord comes.
12:57And in verse 14,
13:01he says,
13:03the great day of the Lord is near,
13:05it is near and hastens quickly.
13:07The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter.
13:10There the mighty men shall cry out.
13:12That day is a day of wrath,
13:14a day of trouble and distress,
13:15a day of devastation and desolation,
13:18a day of darkness and gloominess,
13:20a day of clouds and thick darkness,
13:22a day of trumpet and alarm
13:24against the fortified cities
13:25and against the high towers.
13:28I'll bring distress upon men,
13:29and they shall walk like blind men.
13:32Have you got it up there?
13:35Because they have sinned against the Lord.
13:37Their blood shall be poured out like dust
13:39and their flesh like refuge.
13:43Gather yourselves together.
13:44Yes, gather together,
13:45oh undesirable nation,
13:46before the decree is passed.
13:48Or the day passes like chaff,
13:50before the Lord's fierce anger comes upon you,
13:52before the day of the Lord's anger comes upon you.
13:55Seek the Lord,
13:57all you meek of the earth.
13:58You have upheld his justice.
14:00Seek righteousness,
14:01seek humility.
14:02It may be that you'll be hidden
14:03in the day of the Lord's anger.
14:07Seek righteousness,
14:08seek humility.
14:09It may be that you'll be hidden
14:10in the day of the Lord's anger.
14:13He speaks about a day of wrath,
14:14a day of trouble.
14:16Actually, one of the words which is used there
14:18for devastation is the word shoah in Hebrew.
14:21Same word which is used of the Holocaust.
14:22Speaking about a time of great trouble coming.
14:26And he gives the reason for this.
14:27He said this distress is coming
14:29because they sinned against the Lord.
14:32There's a connection between how they behaved
14:33and the trouble that's coming.
14:35It's the judgment of God.
14:38Applies this in the following verses
14:40to the Babylonian invasion.
14:41Speaks about judgment coming on the nations.
14:44Starts with Gaza also.
14:46Says Gaza will be forsaken.
14:48Speaks about judgment on the rebellious and wicked city
14:50because they haven't obeyed correction.
14:53And many of the following verses
14:55actually do speak about the coming day of the Lord
14:57with the Babylonian invasion.
14:59But it goes beyond that
15:00and speaks also to the end of days.
15:03Looks beyond that to the end time
15:05and the day of the Lord.
15:07The day when God's wrath will be on sinners
15:09and on a sinful world.
15:11But also that there'll be a place of deliverance
15:13for believers.
15:15Those will be hidden in the day of God's anger.
15:19We go to the end of the chapter
15:20which we won't look at today
15:21but may look at next time.
15:23It speaks about the blessings
15:25of the coming millennial kingdom.
15:28Of the Lord being in the midst
15:29and having God with you.
15:32And also today
15:33we can have the Lord in our midst
15:34and look to the Lord.
15:37But it also warns us
15:38of this coming day of trouble
15:40and the need to be in the Lord
15:42to be hidden from his wrath.
15:44Says,
15:44The day of the Lord is near.
15:47The day of trouble and distress upon men.
15:50Word used for men there is Adam
15:51which is the name of Adam
15:54but it's also the word
15:55which is used in the Bible
15:56collectively for the human race.
15:58Male and female.
16:00Doesn't mean just man.
16:01It means men and women.
16:03Speaks about devastation.
16:05It speaks about the whole land being devoured.
16:07Word which is used there is Eretz.
16:10And the word Eretz in Hebrew
16:11can mean the land of Israel.
16:12Eretz Israel is the word
16:14normally used for the land of Israel.
16:16But Eretz can also mean the whole earth.
16:19So it has a double meaning.
16:20And so part of the prophecy
16:21is speaking about judgment
16:22coming upon Eretz Israel,
16:24the land of Israel.
16:25But also looking beyond that
16:26to the whole world.
16:28Judgment coming upon the whole world
16:30which is part of the idea
16:32of the day of judgment.
16:35The day of the Lord.
16:37The day of Jacob's trouble
16:38is described in Jeremiah chapter 30.
16:41But it's also the same
16:42sequence of events
16:44which you see in Matthew 24
16:45which speaks about
16:46the day of general trouble
16:47of great tribulation
16:48upon the whole earth.
16:50Speaks about the day
16:51of the high towers
16:52falling down.
16:54High towers
16:54which seem the symbol
16:56of the pride of man.
16:57Tower of Babel.
16:59Both images.
17:00And the towers falling.
17:02Symbol of the fall of Babylon.
17:04I was actually watching a film
17:07the other day of China.
17:11It showed all these skyscrapers
17:12they've built.
17:13And nobody wants to live there
17:14so now they're pulling them down.
17:17But it also showed pictures
17:18of skyscrapers they have built
17:19which are actually literally
17:21falling down.
17:22They have people living in them.
17:23They're falling down
17:24because they've been built badly.
17:26They're built on the sand.
17:27And they're the symbol
17:28of the pride of China.
17:29It's living up as this great
17:30sort of state
17:31which has won
17:32all this money and stuff.
17:35And actually it's now
17:35falling down.
17:36It just showed people
17:37in these houses
17:38and said
17:38there was an announcement
17:39given to them
17:40get out of your house
17:41immediately.
17:42Don't take anything back
17:43because it was about
17:44to fall down
17:44and then it fell down.
17:4640 stories high
17:46people living there.
17:48Apartment blocks.
17:50And they're saying
17:50all over
17:51there's signs of the
17:53towers falling.
17:56So another film
17:56with Dubai
17:56apparently they built
17:57all these towers
17:58but now people
17:58can't afford to live in them.
18:00And there are things
18:01going down.
18:02Canary Wharf.
18:04Some of the offices
18:04there are closed.
18:05And now they're putting
18:06immigrants in there.
18:08And the whole thing
18:08is collapsing.
18:09If you look at it
18:10clearly you can see
18:10there are signs
18:11of the system falling.
18:13There is capitalist,
18:14communist,
18:15built these great towers,
18:17built this powerful system
18:18and yet it's falling.
18:20And it's going to lead
18:21to a time of trouble.
18:23Crumbling.
18:24And we see multiple signs
18:25of the last day's troubles
18:26all around us.
18:28Middle East crisis,
18:29financial crisis,
18:30food crisis.
18:32I heard that
18:32Jeremy Tarkson
18:33recently said
18:34that the harvest
18:35is going to be
18:35very poor this year
18:36because we haven't
18:37had the rain.
18:38So are we all rejoicing
18:39in the sunshine?
18:40Don't rejoice in the sunshine.
18:42We need the rain.
18:43And the rain has not come
18:44and the harvest
18:45is going to be poor.
18:46Some parts of the world
18:47they've had too much rain
18:48and it's washed it up.
18:49You have failing food.
18:52You have an
18:52economical crisis coming.
18:54And all these things
18:59are coming
18:59and it's signs
19:00that the day of the Lord
19:01is near.
19:04Let's have a look
19:05at what it means
19:05by the day of the Lord.
19:07The day of the Lord
19:08actually means
19:08the day when God acts
19:10when God acts
19:11or intervenes
19:12in a major way
19:13in human affairs.
19:14It's usually associated
19:15with judgment
19:16in the end of days
19:17and with the second
19:18coming of Jesus.
19:19You can also
19:20I think in Zechariah
19:23he's actually speaking
19:24here about the day
19:25of the Lord
19:25in terms of
19:26the Babylonian invasion
19:27because the Babylonian invasion
19:29was going to bring about
19:30a major change
19:31in how God was dealing
19:32with the nation of Israel.
19:34Up until that time
19:35Israel had had its kings
19:36who were in line
19:37of King David
19:38had his kingdom
19:39and had his independence.
19:41Once the Babylonians
19:42invaded and took them out
19:43then the period
19:45which the Bible calls
19:46the times of the Gentiles
19:47began
19:47in which Israel
19:49was going to be
19:49under some kind
19:50of subjection
19:50to foreign kings
19:51and that happened
19:53even when they returned
19:54they were still
19:54in subjection
19:55to the kings of Persia
19:56kings of Greece
19:57the kings of Rome
19:58and even to this day
20:00we see that
20:00although Israel
20:01is back in the land
20:02back in Jerusalem
20:03Jesus' word
20:05Jerusalem shall be
20:06trodden down
20:07of the Gentiles
20:07until the times
20:08of the Gentiles
20:09are fulfilled
20:09is not actually
20:10fulfilled yet
20:11because still
20:12the Gentile nations
20:13are having a say
20:14on what happens
20:14in Jerusalem.
20:15They want it
20:16to be divided.
20:16The UN wants
20:17to have a decision
20:18upon what takes
20:19place in Jerusalem.
20:20The times of the Gentiles
20:21will actually only end
20:22when Jesus comes back again
20:23and so when the Babylonian invasion
20:26began it was a major change
20:27which changed a shift
20:29in how God was dealing
20:30with Israel
20:30and that will only come
20:33to an end actually
20:33when the day of the Lord
20:35comes when Jesus returns.
20:38Present time
20:38Jerusalem is the burdensome stone
20:40burdening all nations
20:41and is heading
20:42for the final battle
20:43which will be over Jerusalem.
20:44But the day of the Lord
20:46that means
20:47in Hebrew
20:48Yom Adonai
20:48it's a phrase
20:49which is used
20:50frequently in scripture
20:51have a look at
20:53one or two examples
20:54of the use
20:54of the day of the Lord
20:55and it does apply
20:57very particularly
20:58to the end of days
20:59often associated
21:01with the last days
21:02prophecies.
21:03Isaiah 13
21:04verse 9
21:05is also associated
21:07with judgment
21:07on the wicked.
21:08Behold the day of the Lord
21:11comes cruel
21:12with both wrath
21:13and fierce anger
21:14to lay the land
21:15desolate.
21:16Again that word
21:17is Eretz
21:18so it could mean
21:18the earth desolate.
21:20He will destroy
21:21the sinners in it
21:21for the stars of heaven
21:23and their constellations
21:24will not give their light
21:25the sun will be darkened
21:26and it's going forth
21:27the moon will not cause
21:28its light to shine
21:29I will punish the world
21:30for its evil
21:31and the wicked
21:32for their iniquity
21:33I will halt the arrogance
21:34of the pride
21:35and will lay down
21:36the haughtiness
21:36of the terrible.
21:39There's a day
21:39of reckoning coming
21:40a day of judgment
21:41God is going to judge
21:42the world for its evil
21:43a lot of preachers
21:45don't like to say that
21:46a lot of churches
21:47don't like to say that
21:48but I'm saying it
21:49when God looks
21:50on the world today
21:51do you think he sees
21:52things which please him?
21:54Do you think God is happy
21:56with the state
21:57of this nation?
21:58State of Russia?
22:00State of China?
22:01State of Iran?
22:03Even the state of Israel?
22:04There are things
22:05which are taking place
22:06in all these nations
22:07which are provoking God
22:08to anger
22:08and God sees
22:10great sin
22:10and great wickedness
22:11and there's going
22:12to have a time
22:12when God will judge
22:13the nations
22:13accordingly
22:14and it will lead
22:16to the last battle
22:17and the second coming
22:18of Jesus the Messiah
22:19now the use of the day
22:21of the Lord
22:21is in Zechariah chapter 14
22:22verse 1
22:25Zechariah 14
22:27behold the day of the Lord
22:28is coming
22:28and your spoil will be
22:30divided in your midst
22:31where I gather the nations
22:32all nations to battle
22:34against Jerusalem
22:35the city will be taken
22:37the houses rifled
22:38and the women ravished
22:39half the city will go
22:40into captivity
22:40the remnants of the people
22:42shall not be cut off
22:43from the city
22:43then the Lord will go forth
22:44and fight against those nations
22:46as he fights
22:47in the day of battle
22:47in that day
22:49his feet will stand
22:49on the Mount of Olives
22:50which faces Jerusalem
22:51on the east
22:52and the Mount of Olives
22:53will be split in two
22:54from east to west
22:55forming a very great valley
22:57another expression
22:58of the day of the Lord
22:59it's speaking about
23:00a last battle
23:01over Jerusalem
23:02it's speaking about
23:04a fall of Jerusalem
23:06a temporary fall
23:07of Jerusalem
23:08before the Lord
23:09comes back
23:10and fights against
23:11those nations
23:11which are coming
23:12against Jerusalem
23:13and in that day
23:15it says his feet
23:15are going to stand
23:16on the Mount of Olives
23:17Mount of Olives
23:18is just to the east
23:19of Jerusalem
23:20if you've been to Jerusalem
23:22you've probably been there
23:22and seen the view
23:23over the city of Jerusalem
23:24you may know
23:25it's the place
23:26where Jesus gave
23:27his Olivet discourse
23:28describing what would happen
23:29in the last days
23:30also the day
23:31where Jesus ascended
23:32into heaven
23:32and to where
23:34he said he will return
23:35at the second coming
23:37his feet will stand
23:39on the Mount of Olives
23:39and notice it says
23:41the Lord will feet
23:41his feet will stand
23:42on the Mount of Olives
23:43it uses the name
23:44for God
23:44in Hebrew
23:45saying that
23:46what is coming
23:46to stand with feet
23:48on the Mount of Olives
23:49is God
23:49so how do you figure that
23:53with rabbinic Judaism
23:54which says that God
23:55can't appear in the flesh
23:56Yahweh
23:58Jehovah
23:58it uses the strongest name
24:00for God
24:00and if it's Jesus
24:02coming back
24:03it means that Jesus
24:03is equal
24:05with the Father
24:06is God
24:07and he's going to stand
24:08in visible form
24:09on the Mount of Olives
24:10at the last day
24:11when he returns
24:12at the second coming
24:13okay
24:15in the New Testament
24:16a couple of scriptures
24:17in Thessalonians
24:20chapter 5
24:211 Thessalonians
24:22concerning the times
24:24and the seasons
24:24brethren
24:24you have no need
24:25that I should write
24:26to you
24:26for you yourselves
24:27know perfectly
24:27that the day
24:28of the Lord
24:28so comes
24:29as a thief
24:30in the night
24:30when they say
24:31peace and safety
24:32then sudden destruction
24:33comes upon them
24:34as labour pains
24:35upon a pregnant woman
24:36they shall not escape
24:38but you brethren
24:39not in darkness
24:39so that this day
24:40should overtake you
24:41as a thief
24:42you're all sons of light
24:43and sons of the day
24:44we're not of the night
24:45nor of darkness
24:46therefore let us sleep
24:47as others do
24:48but let us watch
24:48and be sober
24:49for those who sleep
24:50sleep at night
24:51those who get drunk
24:52are drunk at night
24:52but let us
24:53who are of the day
24:54be sober
24:54putting on the breastplate
24:56of faith and love
24:57and as a helmet
24:58the hope of salvation
24:59for God did not
25:00appoint us to wrath
25:01but to obtain salvation
25:02through our Lord
25:02Jesus Christ
25:03who died for us
25:04that whether we wake
25:05or sleep
25:06we should live
25:06together with him
25:07here's a scripture
25:09which speaks about
25:10the day of the Lord
25:10it actually follows
25:11the passage
25:12in chapter 4
25:13which speaks about
25:14the rapture of the church
25:15and it tells you
25:17to be ready for that day
25:18it says that
25:19you know perfectly
25:19that the day of the Lord
25:20so comes as a thief
25:21in the night
25:22in other words
25:23something's going to come
25:24unexpectedly
25:24so you should be ready
25:25for it all the time
25:26it says that
25:27you're not in darkness
25:28so you
25:30he's speaking here
25:30to believers
25:31so he's speaking now
25:32to people who know
25:33the Lord
25:33and he's telling you
25:34to be ready for this event
25:35not to sleep
25:36not to get drunk
25:37not to be in a
25:38state of consciousness
25:40where you don't recognize
25:41signs of the times
25:42but to put on the
25:43breastplate of faith
25:44love
25:45helmet
25:46hope of salvation
25:47and in that case
25:49you're going to be hidden
25:49and you're going to be safe
25:51in the time of trouble
25:52that's coming
25:52because God didn't
25:54appoint you to wrath
25:55but to obtain salvation
25:56through our Lord Jesus Christ
25:58so when we come to the
25:59New Testament
26:00we've got a new
26:00added hopeful message
26:02associated with
26:03the day of coming
26:04of the day of the Lord
26:05and a recommendation
26:07to us to be ready
26:08be in a right relationship
26:09with God
26:09so that we're ready
26:10for this day to happen
26:11this also connects
26:13to the final day
26:14to the passage
26:16in Matthew 24
26:16where it speaks of
26:17of that day
26:18also a phrase
26:20which is used in
26:21Isaiah of the day
26:22of the Lord
26:22it says
26:23in that day
26:24so Jesus is speaking
26:26in the same way
26:26about the day of the Lord
26:27when he describes
26:28the events
26:29particularly in
26:30Matthew 24
26:31speaking about
26:32the separation
26:34between those
26:34who are saved
26:36and those who are lost
26:37when one is taken
26:37and one is left behind
26:39in Matthew 24
26:41and finally
26:42in Matthew
26:42in 2 Peter chapter 3
26:44there's another verse
26:45which speaks about
26:46the day of the Lord
26:46which really is about
26:48the end of the world
26:49it says
26:51the day of the Lord
26:52will come as the thief
26:52in the night
26:53in which the heavens
26:53will pass away
26:54with a great noise
26:55and the elements
26:55will melt
26:56with fervent heat
26:57both the earth
26:58and the works
26:58that are in it
26:59will be burned up
26:59therefore since
27:00all these things
27:01will be dissolved
27:02what manner of persons
27:03ought you to be
27:03in holy conduct
27:04and godliness
27:05looking for
27:06and hastening
27:06the coming
27:07of the day
27:07of the God
27:08because of which
27:09the heavens
27:09will be dissolved
27:10burning on fire
27:11and the elements
27:12will melt
27:12with fervent heat
27:13nevertheless
27:14we according
27:14to his promise
27:15look for new heavens
27:17and a new earth
27:17in which righteousness dwells
27:19this passage
27:21actually tells you
27:21that the day
27:22of the Lord
27:22is a long term thing
27:24it speaks about
27:25the rapture
27:25of the church
27:26it also speaks
27:26about the day
27:27of the tribulation
27:28it also speaks
27:29right to the end
27:30of the world
27:30which will become
27:31after the millennial kingdom
27:32after the thousand year
27:33reign of Christ
27:34on the earth
27:34in which the heavens
27:35and the earth
27:36will be burned up
27:37and God will make
27:37new heavens
27:38and a new earth
27:39so when you see
27:40the phrase
27:41day of the Lord
27:41it doesn't just mean
27:42a day
27:43it means a period
27:44of time
27:44a period of time
27:45which God acts
27:46in a supernatural way
27:47to take back
27:49the world
27:50which is now
27:50under the control
27:52of the evil one
27:52to being under
27:53the control of God
27:54and ultimately
27:56brings an end
27:56to the world
27:57and creates a new one
27:58in which only God
27:59will be reigning
28:00and the devil
28:01and all that is unclean
28:02will be thrown out
28:03into the lake
28:03of fire
28:04internally separated
28:05from the redeemed world
28:07in which those
28:08who are saved
28:09will live together
28:09with God
28:10which brings us
28:12back to Zephaniah
28:13so Zephaniah
28:14sorry
28:14Zephaniah
28:16so in Zephaniah
28:18we have a call
28:19then to
28:20God calling
28:21his people
28:22to himself
28:23chapter 2 verse 1
28:25it says
28:26gather together
28:26before the day
28:27of wrath comes
28:28so the first call
28:30is to be gathered
28:32together
28:32gathered together
28:34what does it mean
28:37to be gathered together
28:38one level
28:39what are we doing now
28:40we're gathering together
28:43to the Lord
28:44we're gathering together
28:44to give praise
28:45to the Lord
28:46we're gathering together
28:46to hear the word
28:47of the Lord
28:47to have fellowship
28:48with one another
28:49one of the things
28:50which God says
28:51we should do
28:52in preparation
28:52for this
28:53in Hebrews chapter 10
28:55it says
28:56let us consider
28:56one another
28:57this is Hebrews 10
28:59verse 24
28:59let us consider
29:01one another
29:01in order to stir up
29:03love and good works
29:04not forsaking
29:05the assembling
29:06of ourselves
29:06together
29:06as is the manner
29:07of some
29:08but exhorting
29:09one another
29:09and so much
29:10the more
29:11as you see
29:11the day approaching
29:12so your first
29:14preparation
29:15for the day
29:16of the Lord
29:16is to gather
29:17together
29:17to worship
29:18the Lord
29:18to hear his voice
29:19and to be
29:20in fellowship
29:21with other believers
29:22in Jesus Christ
29:23to provoke one another
29:25to love
29:25and to good works
29:26to exhort
29:28one another
29:28to encourage
29:29one another
29:29to keep
29:30following
29:30the Lord
29:31it says
29:32don't be like
29:33some who
29:33forsake
29:35the assembling
29:36of ourselves
29:37together
29:37and one of the
29:39first signs
29:39you're going to
29:40start backsliding
29:40is you forsake
29:41the assembling
29:42of yourselves
29:42together
29:43you say
29:43well I don't
29:44have to go to church
29:45I don't have to
29:45belong to a fellowship
29:46actually you do
29:48if you want to be
29:48a practicing Christian
29:49you do have to
29:50belong to a
29:52practicing fellowship
29:53you don't have to
29:54belong to this one
29:54but you have to
29:55belong to a church
29:56where the gospel
29:57is preached
29:58if you go to a church
29:59where the gospel
29:59is not preached
30:00where they bring in
30:01other idols
30:02then come out of it
30:03and don't go there
30:04but find a church
30:05where God
30:06the gospel is preached
30:07and be a member
30:08of it
30:08Jesus said
30:11where two or three
30:11gather together
30:12in my name
30:13I'm there
30:13in the midst
30:14later on in
30:16Zephaniah
30:17he's going to speak
30:17about how the Lord
30:18your God
30:18is in the midst
30:19of you
30:19he's mighty
30:20and God is in the
30:22midst of us now
30:22as we gather
30:23together
30:23in the name
30:24of Jesus
30:24and he's mighty
30:25to save
30:26gathering together
30:28can also mean
30:29our gathering
30:30together
30:30to meet with
30:31the Lord
30:31in the event
30:32which we call
30:32the rapture
30:33of the church
30:34in 2 Thessalonians
30:37chapter 2
30:37it says
30:37now brethren
30:38concerning the
30:38coming of our
30:39Lord Jesus Christ
30:40and our gathering
30:41together to him
30:41we ask you
30:43not to be soon
30:43shaken in mind
30:44or troubled
30:45either by spirit
30:46or by word
30:47or by letter
30:48as if from us
30:48as though the day
30:49of Christ has come
30:50one of the issues
30:52with the Thessalonians
30:53was they thought
30:53this day had come
30:54and they'd been
30:54left behind
30:55he's telling them
30:56no that hasn't
30:56happened
30:57this day is still
30:58in the future
30:58but there's going
31:00to come a day
31:00when we'll be
31:01gathered together
31:02to the Lord
31:03in an event
31:04which we call
31:04the rapture
31:05of the church
31:05we often spend
31:07a lot of time
31:08discussing when
31:09it's going to be
31:09and I'm not going
31:10to actually
31:10discuss that
31:11at the present time
31:12whether it be
31:13before
31:13in the middle
31:14or at the end
31:14of the tribulation
31:15that will be
31:17revealed
31:18in God's time
31:19but it will happen
31:20there will be
31:21a day
31:21when God
31:22is going
31:22to take
31:22supernaturally
31:23every born again
31:24spirit filled believer
31:25out of this world
31:26to meet with the Lord
31:27as he comes
31:28in the air
31:29and he tells us
31:30to be ready
31:31for that day
31:31it's going to happen
31:33our gathering
31:34together to him
31:35Sephaniah says
31:37God's going to
31:37gather together
31:38his people
31:38and if you're
31:39one of his people
31:40you're going to
31:40be gathered together
31:41in that great day
31:42something to look
31:43forward to
31:44something to be
31:45ready for
31:45but something
31:46which is going
31:47to happen
31:47we don't know
31:48when it's going
31:49to happen
31:49it's all
31:50together
31:50in his timing
31:51and in his
31:52will
31:53so we can't
31:54tell Jesus
31:55when to come
31:55he's going
31:56to do it
31:56at his time
31:57what he just
31:58tells us
31:58to do
31:58is to be
31:58ready
31:59be ready
32:00for his
32:00return
32:00and so
32:03we're told
32:04to gather
32:04together
32:05and part of
32:06our gathering
32:06together
32:06is that we
32:07might seek
32:07the Lord
32:08the next thing
32:08which
32:08Zephaniah says
32:10keep calling
32:12the poor
32:13bloke
32:13Zephaniah
32:14Zephaniah
32:14Zephaniah
32:16the purpose
32:17of our
32:17gathering
32:17together
32:18is to
32:18seek the
32:19Lord
32:19seek the
32:21Lord
32:21or you
32:22meek
32:22of the
32:22earth
32:23so there's
32:24a reward
32:25coming
32:25to those
32:26who seek
32:27the Lord
32:27implication
32:29is those
32:30who seek
32:30the Lord
32:30are going
32:30to escape
32:31from God's
32:32wrath
32:32or God's
32:32anger
32:33a reward
32:36coming
32:36to the
32:37meek
32:37of the
32:37earth
32:38the
32:39meek

37:12the gods
37:12of Egypt
37:13I will
37:13execute
37:13judgment
37:14I am
37:14the
37:15Lord
37:15now the
37:16blood
37:16shall
37:16be a
37:16sign
37:17for you
37:17on the
37:17houses
37:17where you
37:18are
37:18when I
37:18see the
37:23to destroy
37:24you
37:24when I
37:25strike
37:25the land
37:25of Egypt
37:26then in
37:27verse 23
37:28the Lord
37:28will pass
37:29through
37:29to strike
37:30the Egyptians
37:30when he
37:31sees the
37:31blood on
37:31the lintel
37:32of the
37:32two
37:32doorposts
37:33and on
37:33the two
37:34doorposts
37:34the Lord
37:35will pass
37:35over the
37:36door
37:36and not
37:36allow the
37:37destroyer
37:37to come
37:38into your
37:38houses
37:38to strike
37:39you
37:39speaks about
37:41the place
37:41of safety
37:42you're going
37:42to be
37:42under the
37:42blood
37:43under the
37:44blood
37:44when the
37:44angel of
37:44death
37:45passes
37:45over you
37:46Jesus
37:47applied
37:48the blood
37:48on the
37:51in the
37:52last supper
37:52to the
37:53blood
37:54that he
37:54was going
37:54to shed
37:54for us
37:56at the
37:56cross
37:56and implies
37:57that if
37:58we're under
37:58the blood
37:58of Jesus
37:59when the
38:00angel of
38:00death
38:00passes
38:00over
38:01we're in
38:01the place
38:01of safety
38:02in the
38:03place
38:03of protection
38:03it's a
38:04picture if
38:04you like
38:04of being
38:05hidden
38:05in the
38:06place
38:06of God's
38:06protection
38:07wonderful
38:09image there
38:10in the
38:10in the
38:11Passover
38:11and of
38:12course
38:12Christ
38:13is our
38:13Passover
38:13who was
38:15sacrificed
38:15for us
38:16that we
38:16might be
38:17hidden
38:17under the
38:18blood
38:18of Jesus
38:19in the
38:20day of
38:20trouble
38:20it's also
38:22a place
38:22of refuge
38:23from the
38:23coming
38:23judgment
38:24it's a
38:25verse in
38:25the book
38:25of Isaiah
38:26chapter 26
38:27verse 20
38:29says come my
38:30people enter your
38:31chambers shut the
38:32doors behind you
38:32hide yourself as it
38:34were for a little
38:34moment until the
38:35indignation is
38:36past
38:36for behold the
38:38Lord comes out of
38:39his place to
38:39punish the
38:40inhabitants of the
38:40earth for their
38:41iniquity the
38:42earth will also
38:43disclose her
38:44blood and will
38:45no more cover
38:45the slain
38:46place of hiding
38:49place where you can
38:49shut the doors behind
38:50you and be hidden
38:51from the time of
38:53trouble from the
38:54indignation that is
38:55passing by because
38:57the Lord is going to
38:57come out and punish
38:58the inhabitants of
38:59the earth for their
39:00iniquity and those
39:03who are hidden in
39:04Jesus will not be
39:04part of the
39:05punishment doesn't
39:06mean you won't see
39:07any trouble you may
39:09well see trouble but
39:10you'll be hidden from
39:11the judgment which is
39:12coming from the
39:13wrath of God because
39:14you're under the
39:15blood of Jesus enter
39:16the chambers it's place
39:18of safety which is a
39:19relationship with the
39:20Lord safe in the
39:22arms of Jesus and
39:24outside of this you're
39:25not safe inside you
39:27are so it doesn't
39:29mean nothing bad can
39:30happen to you I'm not
39:31telling you that we
39:32see that not bad
39:33things are happening
39:33to Christians all over
39:34the world and
39:36sometimes bad things
39:36happen to us but
39:38we're in a place if
39:39we're in a place with
39:39a relationship a
39:41spiritual relationship
39:41with Jesus then we're
39:43a place of protection
39:44place of safety and
39:48in Revelation chapter
39:49three message which
39:50the Lord gave to the
39:51church in Philadelphia
39:53it says because you
39:54kept my command to
39:55persevere I will also
39:56keep you from the
39:57hour of trial which
39:58will come upon the
39:58whole world to test
40:00those who dwell on
40:00the earth behold I'm
40:02coming quickly hold
40:03fast what you have
40:04that no man may take
40:05your crown he who
40:07overcomes I'll make
40:08him a pillar in the
40:08temple of my God and
40:09he shall go out no
40:10more I'll write on him
40:11the name of my God
40:12the name of the city of
40:13my God the new
40:14Jerusalem which comes
40:15down out of heaven
40:16from my God I'll
40:18write on him my new
40:19name he who has an
40:20ear let him hear what
40:22the spirit says to
40:22the churches I will
40:25keep you from the
40:26hour of trial which
40:26will come upon the
40:27whole world to test
40:28those who dwell on
40:29the earth two possible
40:32interpretations of
40:32that I will keep you
40:34from or out of
40:36Greek word is ek take
40:38you out of the world
40:39before the hour of
40:40trial comes which is
40:41favored by the
40:42pre-tribulation view
40:43or I keep you in the
40:44hour of trial I will
40:46keep you in the
40:47hour of trial from
40:48the trouble which is
40:48coming which is
40:49favored by those who
40:50say we will go
40:51through the tribulation
40:52either way God says
40:53I'm going to keep you
40:54but he's got to be in
40:55the Lord only in the
40:57Lord he's going to
40:57keep you if you go
40:59outside of the Lord
40:59then there's no
41:00promise that he's
41:01going to keep you
41:01you have to maintain
41:03that relationship with
41:04the Lord and there
41:07is a day coming when
41:08Jesus says he's going
41:08to literally take us
41:09out John chapter 14
41:13says let not your
41:16heart be troubled
41:16you believe in God
41:18believe also in me
41:19in my father's house
41:20and many mansions if
41:21it were not so I
41:22would have told you
41:22I go to prepare a
41:24place for you and if
41:24I go and prepare a
41:25place for you I will
41:26come again and receive
41:27you to myself that
41:29where I am there you
41:31may be also
41:31Jesus here speaking
41:34actually of that
41:35event which we call
41:36the rapture of the
41:36church he's going to
41:37take you out of this
41:38world to be with
41:39himself where I am
41:40you will be and if
41:44you're with Jesus
41:45you're going to be in
41:46a safe place aren't
41:47you because the
41:48devil can't get
41:49anywhere near Jesus
41:50and if you're in the
41:51place where Jesus is
41:52taking you then you're
41:54in a place where you're
41:54totally safe that's
41:56safe from the Lord
41:57from all the trouble
41:58so don't be troubled
41:59believe in the Lord
42:00in my father's house
42:02and many mansions
42:03and Paul also spoke
42:05about this event in
42:061 Thessalonians chapter
42:074 verse 15 where he
42:10says for this we say
42:11to you by the word
42:11of the Lord that we
42:12who are alive and
42:12remain until the
42:14coming of the Lord
42:14will by no means
42:15precede those who are
42:16asleep for the Lord
42:17himself will descend
42:18from heaven with a
42:19shout with the voice
42:19of an archangel with
42:20the trumpet of God
42:21and the dead in Christ
42:22will rise first then
42:24we who are alive and
42:25remain shall be caught
42:26up together with them
42:27in the clouds to meet
42:28the Lord in the air
42:28thus we should always be
42:30with the Lord therefore
42:31comfort one another
42:32with these words
42:33whatever your belief on
42:36the timing of that
42:36event it's going to
42:37happen and Jesus
42:39says he's going to
42:40take those who
42:41believe in him out
42:42of this world to be
42:43with him supernaturally
42:44an example of the
42:47day of the Lord
42:48because in the day of
42:49the Lord God does
42:50supernatural things
42:50which are unusual
42:52which make a huge
42:54difference to what's
42:54taking place on the
42:55earth if suddenly
42:57every believer was
42:58taken out of this
42:58world to meet with
42:59the Lord it would be
43:00somewhat unusual
43:01wouldn't it
43:01Corinthians says in
43:03that day you're going
43:04to receive a new body
43:05which will never get
43:05old and never get sick
43:06and never die
43:07you're going to receive
43:08a body which will not
43:09be subject to being
43:10corruptible in other
43:12words you won't need
43:13any glasses or any
43:14hearing aids or any
43:15hospital treatment it'll
43:18be immortal it will
43:19never die you'll have
43:21an eternal body and
43:22God says therefore
43:23comfort one another
43:24with these words that's
43:26the ultimate of being
43:27hidden in the Lord
43:27isn't it you're taken
43:29out of the world which
43:30is full of its darkness
43:31and suffering to be
43:32with the Lord and you
43:34have a new body which
43:35will be with Jesus
43:36forever and if you're
43:37with Jesus you're in a
43:38place of protection and
43:40a place of comfort and
43:41so Jesus says comfort
43:42one another with these
43:43words don't spend your
43:45whole time arguing about
43:46when the rapture happens
43:47but believe it's going
43:48to happen as I believe
43:49it is pre-tribulational
43:50be ready at all times
43:52but I'm not going to
43:53argue with you if you
43:54don't believe that
43:54meantime he will keep
43:58us while we're in this
43:59body a couple of
44:01scriptures to close
44:02with I said there's no
44:05guarantee I cannot make
44:06you any guarantee that
44:07you will not have any
44:08troubles or any
44:08suffering in this life
44:09it's not given and it
44:13clearly happens bad
44:15things happen to good
44:16people Christians are
44:17persecuted we have
44:18health needs we have
44:20troubles all kinds of
44:21things happen but the
44:23Lord says he's going to
44:23keep us he's going to
44:24keep us while we're in
44:25this body and at the
44:27end of Romans 8 Paul
44:28wrote these marvelous
44:29words I'll actually start
44:31reading from verse 28
44:32says we know that all
44:34things work together for
44:35good to those who love
44:36God to those who are
44:37called according to his
44:38purpose for whom he
44:39foreknew he also
44:40predestined to be
44:41conformed to the image
44:42of his son that he
44:43might be the firstborn
44:44among many brethren
44:45for over whom he
44:47predestined these also
44:48he called whom he
44:49called he also
44:50justified whom he
44:51justified these he
44:52also glorified what
44:54then shall we say to
44:55these things if God is
44:56for us who can be
44:57against us he who did
45:00not spare his own son
45:00but delivered him up
45:01for us all how shall
45:03he not with him also
45:04freely give us all
45:05things who should bring
45:06a charge against God's
45:07elect it is God who
45:08justifies who is he
45:11who condemns it is
45:12Christ who died and
45:13furthermore is also
45:14risen who is even at
45:15the right hand of God
45:16who also makes
45:17intercession for us who
45:19shall separate us from
45:20the love of God
45:20shall tribulation or
45:22distress or persecution
45:23or famine or nakedness
45:24or peril or sword as it
45:26is written for your
45:27sake we are killed all
45:28the day long we are
45:30counted as sheep for the
45:31slaughter yet in all
45:32these things we are
45:33more than conquerors
45:33through him who loved
45:34us for I am persuaded
45:36that neither death nor
45:37life nor angels nor
45:38principalities nor
45:39powers nor things
45:40present nor things to
45:41come nor height nor
45:42depth nor any other
45:44creative thing shall be
45:45able to separate us
45:46from the love of God
45:47which is in Christ Jesus
45:49our Lord take those
45:51words on board meditate
45:52on them and believe
45:53them nothing can
45:55separate you from the
45:56love of God which is
45:57in Christ Jesus our
45:58Lord God is for us who
46:00can be against us God
46:02is for us if we believe
46:03in Jesus the devil is
46:05against us and he'll
46:06do what he can to
46:07harass us and trouble
46:08us but greater is he
46:09that is in you than he
46:11that is in the world
46:11there's a greater power
46:13available to every
46:13believer in Jesus the
46:15Messiah and all of the
46:17power of the evil one
46:18so submit to God
46:20resist the devil and he
46:23will flee from you
46:24and finally come to
46:26Jesus who is our good
46:27shepherd
46:27our scripture to read
46:31which speaks about the
46:32place of safety in the
46:34sheepfold under Jesus the
46:35good shepherd
46:36John chapter 10
46:37most assuredly I say to
46:40you I am the door of the
46:42sheep
46:42I am the door if anyone
46:44enters by me he will be
46:45saved and will go in and
46:46out and find pasture
46:47the thief does not come
46:50except to steal and to
46:51kill and to destroy I've
46:53come that they might have
46:53life they might have it
46:54more abundantly I'm the
46:56good shepherd the good
46:57shepherd gives his life
46:58for the sheep but of all
47:00a hireling he was not the
47:02shepherd one who does not
47:03own the sheep sees the
47:04wolf coming and leaves the
47:05sheep and flees and the
47:07wolf catches the sheep and
47:08scatters them the hireling
47:09flees because he is a
47:10hireling and does not care
47:11about the sheep I'm the
47:13good shepherd and I know
47:14my sheep and I'm known by
47:15my own as the father knows
47:17me even so I know the
47:19father and I lay down my
47:20life for the sheep and
47:22other sheep I have who are
47:23not of this fold them also
47:25I must bring and they
47:26will hear my voice there
47:27will be one flock and one
47:29shepherd are you in the
47:31sheep fold tonight today if
47:34not make sure that you are
47:35because that's the place
47:36where you're safe that's the
47:38place where you're safe from
47:39the thief who does come to
47:40steal to kill and to
47:42destroy but you're in the
47:43place where God wants to
47:44give you life to give you
47:45life that is abundant the
47:47life that comes from him
47:48above and that nothing can
47:50separate you from because it
47:51comes from God and it comes
47:53from the Lord Jesus the
47:54Messiah the one who God
47:56has sent into the world to
47:57redeem us and it comes from
47:59the Holy Spirit who God
47:59wants to give to us to fill
48:01us and to renew us and to
48:03give us his life within us
48:05it's like the ark of Noah
48:08which I'm going to speak
48:09about tonight the ark is the
48:11symbol if you like of the
48:12salvation which we have in
48:14the Messiah where nothing can
48:16separate us from the love of
48:17God where God is present and
48:20the only thing which God can
48:22say to you is make sure
48:23you're there make sure you
48:25have a place in it because
48:26outside of it there's no
48:28safety inside of it there is
48:30safety there's peace there's
48:32joy there's a presence of the
48:34Lord Jesus and nothing can
48:35separate you from the love of
48:37God which is in Christ Jesus
48:38our Lord amen I want to sing a
48:43song which way back in the
48:4870s we used to sing this
48:49chorus it's sort of gone out of
48:51favor but some of you may
48:53remember it but it's quite easy
48:56to learn so we'll try and sing
48:58it I don't know if Christ can
48:59pick it up but it's in D
49:02I'm under the blood of Jesus
49:06I'm under the blood of Jesus
49:12safe in the shepherd's fold
49:16I'm under the blood of Jesus
49:19safe when the night turns cold
49:23safe when the nations crumble
49:27safe when the stars grow dim
49:31I'm under the blood of Jesus
49:35and I am safe in him
49:38I'll put it up to you
49:40I'm under the blood of Jesus
49:46safe in the shepherd's fold
49:49I'm under the blood of Jesus
49:54safe when the night turns cold
49:57safe when the nations crumble
50:02safe when the stars grow dim
50:05I'm under the blood of Jesus
50:10safe and faith in him
50:13once more stand up
50:14I'm under the blood of Jesus
50:20safe in the shepherd's fold
50:24I'm under the blood of Jesus
50:28safe when the night turns cold
50:31safe when the nations crumble
50:36safe when the stars grow dim
50:40I'm under the blood of Jesus
50:44and I'm safe in him
50:48praise the Lord
50:50hallelujah
50:51thank you Jesus
50:52hallelujah
50:53praise you Lord
50:56hallelujah
50:58yeah I wish that
50:59the other day I was praying
51:01and I had a few issues on my mind
51:03my life
51:04the life of the church
51:06the life of the world
51:07and I just felt that God gave me this word
51:09which I wrote down
51:10you can see if it's a word from the Lord
51:13it says God is looking for a man
51:16a woman
51:17to stand with
51:18stand for him
51:19a young man
51:20an old man
51:21a young woman
51:22an old woman
51:23to be a signpost to the truth
51:25a witness to the truth
51:26in these last days
51:28to make known the gospel
51:30which is the only hope for this world
51:31do not be afraid of what people think of you
51:34but fear God
51:35and seek his will
51:36and his favour
51:37Jesus is the head
51:39you are the body
51:39that he wants to work through
51:41connect to the head in prayer
51:43that you might be guided by him
51:44your greatest ability
51:47is your availability
51:48think of that
51:50your greatest ability
51:51is your availability
51:52God is in heaven
51:54you are on the earth
51:55be available to God
51:57greater is he that is in you
51:59than he that is in the world
52:001 John 4 verse 4
52:02trust in the Lord
52:04with all your heart
52:04and lean not
52:05on your own understanding
52:06in all your ways
52:07acknowledge him
52:08and he shall direct your paths
52:09so I say to you
52:11ask and it will be given to you
52:13seek and you will find
52:14knock and it will be opened to you
52:16for everyone who asks
52:17receives
52:18and he who seeks finds
52:19to him who knocks
52:20it will be opened
52:21if a son asks for bread
52:22from any father
52:23among you
52:24will he give him a stone
52:25if he asks for a fish
52:27will he give him a serpent
52:28instead of a fish
52:28or if he asks for an egg
52:30will he offer him a scorpion
52:31if you then being evil
52:33know how to give good gifts
52:34to your children
52:35how much more
52:36will your heavenly father
52:37give the Holy Spirit
52:38to those who ask him
52:39Luke chapter 11

52:44so I put that on the table
52:46so you can take that
52:47and look at it
52:48let's just pray Lord
52:49you say you're looking
52:51for a man
52:52a woman to stand for you
52:53a young man
52:54a young woman
52:55an old man
52:58an old woman
52:58to be a signpost
53:00to the truth
53:01a witness to the truth
