00:00Sabrina 90's show, Trial by Fury.
00:04Sabrina sees her family have a Cinco de Mayo.
00:08I'm a little glad they're having fun.
00:10I guess they celebrated because they might have once lived in a Spanish country.
00:15Sabrina judges them as weird, and is called out.
00:20And says that there's nothing worse than when your parents call you uptight.
00:24She gets his sombrero zapped to her, and already starts having fun,
00:28but eats what has to be a magical thing because it makes her breathe fire.
00:33And she hates the pain of it.
00:35Sabrina asks what if the numbers were rational,
00:38and somehow she gets mocked for it by the math teacher,
00:41and she doesn't know what radical means because the textbook was confusing.
00:46And somehow the teacher punishes her for wanting to be more knowledgeable
00:50by giving the class a huge math test tomorrow and blaming her for it.
00:55Just to make her get bullied for it.
00:58Unless she isn't, which has to mean they already love her.
01:02She creates some thunder and lightning to vent.
01:05And Sabrina says she hears Harvey thinking about the song he's singing earlier.
01:09And he doesn't question this.
01:12I guess she means that she knows he's lip-syncing it because his head is bobbing.
01:16He reassures her that she knows math, even though she said the textbook was confusing.
01:22She should be studying alone.
01:25She's just so desperate to spend time with Harvey that she'll even sabotage her own studying for it.
01:31Gordy surprisingly wants to know the answer to something nerdy,
01:35and he wishes he had more time.
01:37She frees his time to give him the answer and unfreezes it.
01:41The kid who stopped to help the kid in the wheelchair was somehow gleefully kept from doing the test by the math teacher.
01:50Sabrina falls over because she dropped her pencil.
01:54The crazy teacher accused her of leaning over to try to read someone else's paper.
01:59She can't concentrate on the test, and it really drags on.
02:04She's surprised by the ringing of the bell before she got to finish the test.
02:09If this moron knew to freeze time during the test,
02:13she would have succeeded.
02:16So they really shouldn't have shown us that she can do that in the show in this episode.
02:22Sabrina tells Hilda she's going to give her teacher a potion for an expanding butt
02:26before she can find the perfect revenge spell.
02:29Hilda's cool enough to give her a better spell idea and approve of this,
02:34but she says she should save it for a last resort,
02:37and it's better to talk to him the mortal way,
02:40as opposed to the witch way.
02:42Sabrina says she doesn't want to talk to him and wants her to,
02:46and surprisingly, she does.
02:48She's cool.
02:49There's a long, boring scene where the teacher rubs it in that Sabrina got an F,
02:54and he says no wonder she failed because her aunt is bad at math,
02:58even though it's been forever since she was in math class.
03:01He should have known most adults would be bad at this.
03:05Hilda doesn't respect these two.
03:07Well, to be fair, they're both idiots.
03:09She goes to the teacher and tells him the circumstances were unfair.
03:14Not really.
03:15It was really Sabrina's fault.
03:17It wasn't really the circumstances.
03:20She's only right in that she should have had more time,
03:24but that's only because she's easily distracted.
03:26Maybe she should be on IEP.
03:30You should be able to take it after school if you have to.
03:34She's told the problem starts with home.
03:36When he's got no reason to think it's her aunt's fault,
03:39she's easily distracted.
03:42I'm glad he already got an expanded butt.
03:45I wish I saw him drink the potion.
03:48It's confusing because the way the episode's framed,
03:51it makes it seem like all this is happening in one day.
03:56He says Sabrina probably has a dysfunctional family
03:59and should talk to a social worker.
04:02Even though teachers now would be more than used
04:04to the average kid having their parents all complain to them
04:07about being rude to students.
04:09which is why he wouldn't think her family's weird for this
04:12and exactly why it's so unrealistic that he'd be this evil.
04:17The only reason he'd really think they're dysfunctional
04:19is that she's being raised by her aunts
04:21instead of a father and mother.
04:23I loved the scene where Sabrina and her aunts
04:27made a potion together dressed like witches and cackled.
04:31And Sabrina even says happily that they cackled
04:33because it shows how they love her
04:35instead of being control freak jerks.
04:37And this really takes advantage of the escapism of the show.
04:41You're supposed to identify with them
04:43and wish that you were a witch
04:44because of the person that they're targeting.
04:47The scene really did take a while
04:49with mostly just worthless padding,
04:51but I liked the music.
04:53Sabrina finds out her teacher got a speeding ticket.
04:58Salem somehow drives by out of a small car.
05:02I guess Zelda zapped it up.
05:04The lawyer goes from passionately arguing for the teacher
05:07that half an injustice is still an injustice
05:09to calling him out overly lightly and forgettably
05:12on how he was a bad teacher for him.
05:15Witch judges take turns in the deep freeze
05:17to prevent media bias.
05:20This is clearly just meant as a joke.
05:23Because why would they have media bias
05:25from somebody that nobody knows?
05:28They're not judging a celebrity.
05:30This judge in particular has been here for a decade.
05:35And if they're completely out of touch with reality,
05:37they're not going to be up to date on how the law has changed.
05:41Good thing this isn't really about laws so much as punishing mortals.
05:45Wait, how did he do his taxes the whole time?
05:49I guess it's done automatically for him,
05:51and he was rich beforehand.
05:54The judge zaps up coffee for himself.
05:57He says guilty right away, but still proceeds with a trial.
06:00Why isn't the teacher questioning that?
06:03Well, I guess he answered it in his head with,
06:06he's got Alzheimer's.
06:08For some reason, he acts senile,
06:10even though there'd be a potion to cure that.
06:13Why did he only now find out that Sabrina's at his court session,
06:17when he heard the ha earlier?
06:21Zelda says she wanted to call a witness,
06:23who complains about the teacher failing him.
06:26The teacher somehow gets allowed to interrogate the student
06:29and claim that he made him who he is today,
06:32when he's one teacher.
06:34Zelda smartly uses the arresting officer as a witness.
06:38As for why she is allowed to be a lawyer,
06:41it's a meeting run by witches.
06:43It's not really meant to be about the law at all.
06:46Sabrina accuses the teacher accurately,
06:49though I don't know why she thinks he hates teaching.
06:52She's naturally asked for proof,
06:54and says that all she can do
06:56is say that math might have been ruined
06:57for all of the students since it was for her.
07:00While her testimony is kind of lame,
07:02it's supposed to be escapist fiction,
07:04so you're supposed to wish you were in Sabrina's shoes.
07:08The teacher justifies that life is unfair,
07:11though that doesn't justify being shitty to people.
07:14And he's asked if he intends to always teach high school,
07:18and says he's only doing this
07:19until he starts a software company.
07:20Like last time,
07:23there's really nothing to say about Salem here,
07:26so there's a reason I didn't mention a scene before.
07:29The judge sentences them
07:30to a lifetime of teaching high school algebra.
07:34He screams no.
07:36It looks like he's being crushed.
07:38But it has to just be holograms.
07:42And the judge says
07:42this trial will be stricken from all mortal memory,
07:46which is a good thing to write.
07:50Sabrina doesn't think this punishment
07:51was good enough somehow,
07:53which is a subtle message against revenge,
07:56because nothing that happens to him
07:57would ever feel good enough.
08:00Unless it was too much,
08:01and even if it was too much,
08:03you might be opposed to it.
08:05But it doesn't actually explain that,
08:07so it doesn't really teach the message.
08:09She thankfully complains that doing this
08:12means he'll be tormenting students
08:13for his whole life.
08:15And somehow Hilda has to explain to her
08:17why he got his just desserts with this.
08:20A woman goes to the house
08:21and doesn't know Salem's a cat.
08:24He's such an idiot
08:24trying to seduce her like this.
08:27She used to date him
08:28and resented him
08:29for wanting to rule the world.
08:31She says 30 years later,
08:33he was the best thing
08:34that ever happened to her.
08:37Wow.
08:38Her life sucked.
08:39He jumps onto her without warning
08:42and should have known
08:42that she would freak out.
08:45She gets mad at the mannequin
08:47and asks how long
08:48that was supposed to fool her.
08:50He says,
08:51another 30 seconds,
08:52and I giggle a little.
08:54She says this is not
08:55what she had in mind
08:56and she storms out.
08:58If she loved him,
09:00she would stay anyways,
09:02because he makes very good points
09:03that he's better now.
09:05He loves to snuggle
09:06and he stays clean.
09:07It doesn't matter
09:08that he has great night vision.
09:11He's been sentenced
09:11to live here
09:12and be taken care of
09:13by the aunt,
09:14so it's not like
09:14she could make him
09:15her house pet,
09:16but she could keep visiting.
09:19He should have known
09:19to tell her the truth
09:20right away
09:21and say how long
09:22he's going to be a cat for.
09:24I don't know how
09:24he could be this stupid.
09:27This whole subplot
09:28was nonsense.
09:30After patting,
09:31Sabrina tries to reassure Salem
09:33and he asks who could ever
09:34replace that girl
09:35in his heart.
09:35she drops off
09:37a ball of yarn
09:38and he shouts,
09:39A GIANT BALL OF YARN?
09:41I love how immediately
09:42he gets happy.
09:44It really makes me smile
09:45and might have been funny
09:46on a different day.
09:48I guess the reason
09:49I share in his happiness
09:50despite him being evil
09:51is just how funny he is
09:53and harmless he is.
09:55this story by Nell Scovell
09:58and Norma Safford-Vella
10:00was about Sabrina's aunt
10:01being relatable enough
10:02to hate her unrealistically
10:04evil teacher enough
10:05to get back at him
10:06by causing him
10:07to go through
10:07a witch-run trial.
10:10It's creative to see
10:10witches judge mortals
10:12for a change,
10:12giving a new meaning
10:13to the term
10:14witch trial.
10:15And it's a great decision
10:16that it's not a normal trial
10:17because it explains
10:18why it's so unrealistic.
10:19It was cathartic
10:21most of the time
10:22and it made sense.
10:24He was rude to her
10:25so it was funny.
10:28The Salem subplot
10:28was mostly worthless
10:29and only needed
10:30that one scene
10:31that required him
10:33to hold the idiot ball
10:34to even invite his ex over
10:36without letting her know
10:37he's a cat
10:37in the first place.
10:39You'd think everyone
10:40who knew Salem
10:41would have found out
10:42what happened to him
10:42from the news.
10:44She could just be the type
10:45to not watch a lot of TV.
10:47So it was only Salem
10:48that learned a lesson.
10:49And it was a pointlessly
10:51obvious one as usual.
