00:00:00In fact, what he not satisfied coming up next, the WBA Junior Welterweight Championship as we go to the dressing room here of Frankie the Surgeon Rattle.
00:00:08He's all decked out in his garb, local favorite who grew up in Morristown, Tennessee, three-time world champ and the first to knock down and then beat Julio Cesar Chavez for the WBC Super Lightweight crown.
00:00:18He recaptured the WBA Junior Welterweight title back in August in the third bout of a strange and wild trilogy with former champ Juan Koji in Koji's homeland of Argentina.
00:00:30Tonight, he meets Frenchman Colin Rahilou, the number one WBA challenger in defense of his junior welterweight crown.
00:00:39Only in Nashville could you find an amusement park with a country music theme.
00:00:44And the newest addition to the Opryland theme park is the Hangman, a five-loop inverted roller coaster that travels 60 miles per hour.
00:00:53And no one in boxing today has gone through a roller coaster ride of such exhilarating highs.
00:01:00Oh, my God!
00:01:01And devastating lows as Frankie Randall.
00:01:04And new champion of the WBA.
00:01:08Oh, down goes Chavez for the first time in his career!
00:01:12Unbelievable!
00:01:13While Randall defied the odds and amazed the pundits to become the first to beat Julio Cesar Chavez,
00:01:20no one could have predicted what happened in their rematch.
00:01:23Oh, look at this block!
00:01:29Chavez!
00:01:31It's a bad cut and a real bad play.
00:01:33Chavez, the recipient of an unintentional headbutt.
00:01:37Frankie Randall must have one point deducted, and then we go to the score calls.
00:01:43The winner and new champion.
00:01:45I got a rock.
00:01:48I feel like I was cheap.
00:01:49I feel like I still deserve an A-B-C belt, which I don't have anymore.
00:01:56Randall came back to face Argentina's Juan Koji for the WBA portion of the junior weatherweight belt,
00:02:02knocking his opponent down three times for a lopsided victory.
00:02:07There goes Koji again!
00:02:09Nothing but excitement.
00:02:09But once again in the rematch, history repeated itself.
00:02:17Oh, Randall just wins in pain, and Koji goes back to the corner.
00:02:21That goes down.
00:02:24Some believe Koji deserved an Oscar instead of the belt as he regained his title.
00:02:30I would rather lose a fight the right way than go out like this.
00:02:34This is not the proper way to do it.
00:02:35But now, after winning back the belt and gaining his revenge from Koji,
00:02:41Randall has no intention of letting history repeat itself once again.
00:02:46Right now, my focus is on winning the fight.
00:02:48I'm going to go out there and take one round at a time,
00:02:50and basically just look forward to holding my hands up in victory at the end.
00:02:55Here's the man he'll face.
00:02:59A look at the challenger, Khalid Rahelou of France,
00:03:02rated number one by the WBA,
00:03:04number four by the WBC.
00:03:06Tonight, his first world title shot,
00:03:08and his first fight on American Surah.
00:03:10Here he comes.
00:03:11Woo!
00:03:24That's downright peaceful music.
00:03:26I can tell you, to the strains of Edith Piaf,
00:03:30I'm not sure if we should have a fight or a romantic candlelight dinner.
00:03:33Yeah, this is kind of like the fight before.
00:03:39We went to some old candlelight.
00:03:40Maybe the ghost of Marcel Sardin will show up.
00:03:46Well, this music certainly isn't the cure to pick this crowd up.
00:03:51Hopefully, when these two guys get into the ring, Rahelou and Randall,
00:03:54that will do the trick.
00:03:55Well, at least Randall's music moves you and your blood starts flowing.
00:03:58I've seen a couple of couples in the audience dancing already here.
00:04:01This is a peace meeting here with a song.
00:04:03And they're not doing the two-step.
00:04:05Well, here's a former European champ, now top-ranked.
00:04:09He's beaten some good guys.
00:04:10We'll keep the energy going here.
00:04:12And, Ferdy, some feel he has the best chance
00:04:15among all of tonight's opponents.
00:04:16But, of course, part of that depends on which Randall shows up.
00:04:19Well, and also, this guy's not got the greatest defense,
00:04:22any slow on punches.
00:04:23That's a prescription to get gonged by Frankie Randall,
00:04:26who says, very cryptically, he says,
00:04:29this is not an adventure.
00:04:30This is a job for me.
00:04:31I don't come out here to see what's going to happen.
00:04:34I come out here to do my job and go home with the crowd.
00:04:36And his opponent, a fighter dog by a series of bad luck scenarios
00:04:40over the last couple of years.
00:04:42Here he is, the surgeon, the champion, Frankie Randall,
00:04:45who grew up in Morristown, Tennessee,
00:04:47about a three-hour drive from Nashville,
00:04:50told us he's got about 50 people here, friends and family,
00:04:52and he'll get the support of this hometown crowd.
00:04:56Here comes the surgeon.
00:05:01Aaron Snowell to his right, the left of your screen.
00:05:05He has trained many world champions.
00:05:09There's the championship belt.
00:05:11You saw it a second ago.
00:05:12Here we go.
00:05:12And here comes the music of Frankie Randall.
00:05:19I've been away for much too long.
00:05:29Song called Home Again, very appropriate.
00:05:39He was born in Alabama,
00:05:43but grew up in Morristown, Tennessee.
00:05:46Good football player, Morristown East High School.
00:05:48He was a fullback.
00:05:50Can you imagine this little guy, a fullback?
00:05:52What a team.
00:05:53He must have been playing on missions or something.
00:05:55I mean, that guy was a fullback.
00:05:57He must have been a kicker that, yes.
00:06:01Well, he's been on a crazy ride.
00:06:03The two wars with Chavez, the battles,
00:06:06three of them with Koji, a lot of controversy.
00:06:09After his third bout with Koji in Argentina in August,
00:06:12Randall incidentally pelted with debris upon the announcement
00:06:16as Winter tested positive in the post-fight drug test in Argentina.
00:06:20We took the test in the United States.
00:06:22He passed.
00:06:23He's champion again.
00:06:25Bizarre goings on, but Bobby Chez,
00:06:27what else is new in boxing and in this man's life?
00:06:31You know, he's had to deal with adversity all his life,
00:06:33before boxing, on his quest to get a title.
00:06:35And once he got a title, the trials and tribulations didn't go away.
00:06:38Frankie's prepared to tackle whoever or whatever lies before him.
00:06:42Bertie, did he go to medical school with you?
00:06:44No, but let me tell you,
00:06:45he fought a lot of times in Tampa.
00:06:46They loved him in Tampa, Florida, where I'm from.
00:06:48And he had tough times there and tough times everywhere.
00:06:51So, you know, Frankie is a tough-time guy,
00:06:53and I think we're going to see a blazing good fight here.
00:06:55Let's see it.
00:06:55And then he feel he was robbed twice.
00:06:57Let's check the numbers.
00:06:58Although 35, Randall says he's still as fast as a 23-year-old kid.
00:07:02Rahulu is 30.
00:07:03The height is nearly even.
00:07:05And Randall under the 140 limit by just a hair.
00:07:09Rahulu 139 and a 3-inch reach advantage for the challenger Rahulu.
00:07:12Let's check the WBA rules for this title fight.
00:07:15Ten-point must system.
00:07:16Three judges.
00:07:17No standing eight.
00:07:19Three knockdown rule is in effect.
00:07:20Only the referee can stop the fight.
00:07:22A fighter cannot be saved by the bell except in the last round.
00:07:25If an accidental foul occurs before the end of round four,
00:07:28it's a technical draw.
00:07:29If it happens after the completion of the fourth,
00:07:31they go to the scorecard.
00:07:33We're in Nashville,
00:07:34and we're set for the WBA Junior Welterweight Championship.
00:07:37We get further acquainted through Jimmy Lennon, Jr.

00:08:26with the WBA Junior Welterweight Championship of the World
00:08:30scheduled for 12 rounds of boxing.
00:08:34Presenting to you first the challenger on my left,
00:08:36fighting out of the blue corner,
00:08:38entering the ring wearing red trunks with green trim,
00:08:41hailing from Conflat, France.
00:08:45He weighed in at a ready 139 pounds.
00:08:48His fine record includes 28 wins,
00:08:50only two losses with 14 of his wins coming by way of knockout.
00:08:55Please welcome the WBA number one,
00:08:58ranked junior welterweight contender in the world,
00:09:01introducing Khalid Railu.
00:09:08And his opponent across the ring on my right,
00:09:11fighting out of the red corner,
00:09:13the defending world champion.
00:09:14The champion entering the ring wearing his traditional teal trunks
00:09:18with white trim,
00:09:19hailing from Morristown, Tennessee.
00:09:23He weighed in at 139 and one-half pounds.
00:09:28His record includes 53 wins,
00:09:31four losses,
00:09:31one draw,
00:09:3340 big wins coming by way of knockout.
00:09:36Ladies and gentlemen,
00:09:37here is the former WBC 140-pound champion
00:09:40and the current WBA junior welterweight champion of the world,
00:09:45Frankie the Sturgeon Randall.
00:09:55And once again,
00:09:57a referee in charge of this bout,
00:09:58Rafael Ramos,
00:10:00now to give instructions.
00:10:02Frankie, let's go.
00:10:04Okay,
00:10:07you receive the pre-fine instruction.
00:10:09This,
00:10:10the trunks are a little bit high, okay?
00:10:11So this is good over here.
00:10:13Okay?
00:10:13Protect yourself at all times.
00:10:15Good luck, guys.
00:10:16Let's go.
00:10:19Final instructions from Rafael Ramos
00:10:22of Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
00:10:24Frankie Randall,
00:10:25who last fought in Tennessee in 93,
00:10:27a seventh-round TKO
00:10:28over Edwin Rosario in Memphis.
00:10:32And he'll be facing Khalid Rahilou,
00:10:35who some feel is the most impressive opponent
00:10:37on this particular card.
00:10:38Long-time European champ,
00:10:40number one for about two years.
00:10:42He's mandatory challenger,
00:10:43the second one tonight,
00:10:44but tonight a huge step up
00:10:46in competition for
00:10:47the man in the red trunks,
00:10:49Khalid Rahilou.
00:10:50And they say this is the best possibility
00:10:53for an upset here
00:10:54when you look at the quality of opponents.
00:10:56So let's see what this would develop
00:10:58because Frankie is a bad luck guy,
00:11:01but he should be able to take care
00:11:02of this type of opponent.
00:11:04Let's see.
00:11:05Randall told us he's been in training
00:11:07two and a half months for this fight,
00:11:09says he's in great shape.
00:11:10The fact that Rahilou
00:11:11is a so-called lesser opponent
00:11:13has him more prepared and relaxed.
00:11:16He said he's hoping for a quick knockout,
00:11:17feeling that Rahilou's defense
00:11:19is not the best
00:11:20and that he's slow in punching.
00:11:22Well, Frankie does everything well.
00:11:23He can box, he can punch,
00:11:24puts his punches together in combination.
00:11:26He can move.
00:11:26His defense is nice
00:11:27and he's got a pretty good chin.
00:11:28He's been whacked by the best,
00:11:30including Chavez.
00:11:31Rahilou right now has got his hands up high,
00:11:32tight defense,
00:11:34not really looking to look like a puncher,
00:11:37but not offering too much.
00:11:38Now, I think he's feeling Frankie out.
00:11:39He's more in a feeling out process
00:11:40than is Frankie.
00:11:41The one good thing about Frankie,
00:11:42with the experience that he's got,
00:11:44he's very patient.
00:11:45I mean, he doesn't get all excited or anything.
00:11:46He fights at a good pace.
00:11:48He can pick it up in a minute
00:11:49and zap you.
00:11:51But in the meantime,
00:11:52he's patient.
00:11:52You want to run around a little bit
00:11:54and flea flick,
00:11:55he'll do that with you.
00:11:56But when he puts on the gas,
00:11:58it's very, very fast.
00:11:59So far, a feeling out process here.
00:12:02Rahilou has never been down.
00:12:04Told us that his best weapon
00:12:06is his movement and speed,
00:12:07meaning fast hands.
00:12:09He said in order to beat Randall,
00:12:10he'll have to box fight smart,
00:12:12not do what Chavez did.
00:12:14He said Chavez style was good for Randall.
00:12:15He said,
00:12:16I'll watch how Randall starts
00:12:17and then adapt.
00:12:18Oh, right now,
00:12:21it looks like the Milrose games.
00:12:23This guy's done nothing but run around.
00:12:25I mean, like Indians around a wagon train.
00:12:27He has not stopped going around in a circle.
00:12:29I mean, some points got to stop and fight.
00:12:32Rahilou, 28-2 with 14 knockouts
00:12:34on a 13-fight winning streak.
00:12:36Randall in the teal,
00:12:3853-4-1 with 40 knockouts.
00:12:40First title defense,
00:12:41three-time world champ.
00:12:43You notice Rahilou's doing something
00:12:45unorthodox for a righty.
00:12:47He's moving to his right,
00:12:48not to his left,
00:12:49as a southpaw normally would.
00:12:51Sometimes confusing for fighters,
00:12:52I know when I worked in the gym,
00:12:54sometimes fighters get thrown out of,
00:12:55you know, out of their rhythm.
00:12:57Yeah, it's unusual that he's going that way,
00:12:59but he's going that way
00:13:00and he's going fast.
00:13:01He's like he was on a rail.
00:13:03Rahilou was stopped twice,
00:13:04he said,
00:13:04not knocked out,
00:13:05but due to fatigue,
00:13:06wasn't in shape,
00:13:07it was forced to resign.
00:13:08Yeah, I thought they
00:13:09must have derailed the rails he was on.
00:13:11By the way, nice shoes.
00:13:12They look like Art Deco buildings
00:13:14in South Beach.
00:13:15It looks like one of the Art Deco hotels.
00:13:17Very scenic.
00:13:19Randall has lost only twice since 88.
00:13:21Both technical losses,
00:13:23as we've talked about
00:13:24in those rematches with Chavez and Koji.
00:13:28We approach the final 10 seconds of round one.
00:13:31The crowd's still down,
00:13:32looking for something to pick them up,
00:13:34and Frankie Randall hopes he can provide just that
00:13:36against Khaled Rahilou
00:13:38as we head for the bell.
00:13:41Well, let's continue our little tour
00:13:47of Nashville, Tennessee.
00:13:49Sitting on a hill on the north side
00:13:51of downtown Nashville
00:13:52is the majestic state capital of Tennessee.
00:13:55Built with limestone and marble,
00:13:57quarried and cut by slaves
00:13:59and convict laborers,
00:14:00the building was completed in 1859.
00:14:03The architect, William Strickland,
00:14:04who helped design the Capitol building
00:14:06in Washington, D.C.,
00:14:08is buried in a vault
00:14:09within the walls
00:14:10of this state capital.
00:14:17Here at the Nashville Arena
00:14:18in downtown Nashville, Tennessee,
00:14:21this city is socked
00:14:22by a snowstorm last night.
00:14:24Temperature is about 10 degrees
00:14:26with the wind chill factor,
00:14:28and it is cut down heavily
00:14:29on the crowd.
00:14:31Down here.
00:14:34All right.
00:14:43Round two, scheduled for 12
00:14:45for the WBA Junior
00:14:46Weatherway Championship.
00:14:47Frankie Randall,
00:14:48the hometown favorite,
00:14:50grew up in Marstown, Tennessee,
00:14:51about three hours from here
00:14:52by Carr against
00:14:53Frenchman Khalid Rahulu
00:14:54in the red.
00:14:55All right, there's a step up
00:14:56in the action,
00:14:57step up in the speed of Frankie.
00:14:59Like saying,
00:15:00well, that was enough
00:15:01of him running around.
00:15:01Now, let's get the fight.
00:15:03Frankie Randall said
00:15:04at the press conference
00:15:05that he didn't feel
00:15:06that Rahulu was respectful enough
00:15:07of what he'd accomplished
00:15:08and that he wanted to take him
00:15:10to school and teach him
00:15:11a lesson and that
00:15:11he was really looking forward.
00:15:13I feel like Trinidad,
00:15:14that's who he wants.
00:15:15Yeah, he said,
00:15:16Rahulu's talking big.
00:15:17The last person that did that
00:15:19was Rodney Moore.
00:15:20Randall scored a seventh round TKO.
00:15:21He said,
00:15:22I'll teach Rahulu a lesson.
00:15:24Yeah, he told us
00:15:25his next best fight
00:15:26is probably with Trinidad.
00:15:27He'd love to fight Chavez
00:15:28a third time.
00:15:31That would be a blazing fight.
00:15:33Either one of those two
00:15:34would be great,
00:15:34but I personally
00:15:34would like to see Chavez.
00:15:42You know, right now,
00:15:43Rahulu seems to be
00:15:44too much in a feeling out,
00:15:46just testing Frank,
00:15:47see what kind of power he has,
00:15:49maybe even gauging his speed,
00:15:50but he's not really offering up
00:15:51a tremendous amount of offense.
00:15:52Frankie is forcing the fight.
00:15:54Maybe he's a counterpuncher boxer,
00:15:55but certainly does not
00:15:57appear to be a puncher.
00:15:58With that much movement,
00:15:59he can never get his feet
00:15:59under him enough,
00:16:00long enough to stand
00:16:01and settle into some shots.
00:16:03It's going to be a difficult time
00:16:04if he moves that much.
00:16:05Well, I don't know
00:16:05what he thinks he's going
00:16:06to accomplish this way.
00:16:07He's not going to frustrate Frankie.
00:16:08He's going to lose points
00:16:10both times,
00:16:10and he's going to start out
00:16:11in a hole
00:16:12before he even gets started.
00:16:13I mean,
00:16:14here's a guy that's got
00:16:14to really fight good
00:16:15and score impressively to win.
00:16:20Rahulu,
00:16:20a former world kickboxing champion,
00:16:22beat Trey Darcy for the title.
00:16:24Used to play soccer in France,
00:16:26but too many knee problems.
00:16:28He turned to a safety sport,
00:16:29boxing.
00:16:30Now, right now,
00:16:31Frankie's just pushing back,
00:16:32pushing the pace,
00:16:33pushing back Rahulu a little bit,
00:16:35not really forcing the issue
00:16:36with that much,
00:16:37and I suspect that'll pick up
00:16:38as he's ready.
00:16:39He's also probably feeling
00:16:40about gauging,
00:16:41see what kind of power he has,
00:16:42speed he has or doesn't have,
00:16:44and then he's going to get
00:16:44into his rhythm.
00:16:46Randall's signature punch
00:16:48is the straight right hand,
00:16:49always busy,
00:16:51fast hands,
00:16:52accurate combinations,
00:16:53has power particularly
00:16:55with the right
00:16:55and an underrated chin.
00:16:57Bobby,
00:16:57you talked about that earlier,
00:17:00also has a tremendous heart
00:17:02as we've seen.
00:17:03Well,
00:17:03he got tested by Chavez
00:17:04very well
00:17:04because he got gonged real good
00:17:06and he took it like it was nothing.
00:17:08I mean,
00:17:08that really impressed me with Randall.
00:17:10Rahulu's a veteran,
00:17:12more of a boxer than a puncher,
00:17:14only 14 knockouts
00:17:15in his 30 fights,
00:17:17hasn't lost in his last 13,
00:17:19which includes seven knockouts.
00:17:24If the movement had any point to it,
00:17:26you could understand it,
00:17:27but the movement has nothing.
00:17:28It has no direction to it.
00:17:29He's not establishing anything.
00:17:31He's not feeling out.
00:17:32He knows what he's got.
00:17:33He's got a champion in front of him.
00:17:34He's not stopping the fight,
00:17:35so what?
00:17:36He's lost two rounds.
00:17:37Two rounds.
00:17:38As we head for the belt,
00:17:40and we'll take you into the corner
00:17:43of Khalid Rah,
00:17:44Helu,
00:17:45with the help of our translator,
00:17:47Natalie.
00:17:52Follow like this, Khalid.
00:17:53It's the strategy.
00:17:54We have one more round like this.
00:17:56He's going to get mad
00:17:58that you are doing this moving.
00:18:02Don't let the left down.
00:18:05Don't let the left down.
00:18:10You are good?
00:18:16Always open your hand.
00:18:18Follow like this.
00:18:21We are going to make one
00:18:23or two more rounds like this.
00:18:24We want him to get mad.
00:18:28We have time.
00:18:29You get him crazy.
00:18:31Don't make a mistake.
00:18:36Don't make a mistake.
00:18:39Thanks, Natalie.
00:18:39Perfect.
00:18:41Perfect, mon cher.
00:18:43Luis Acatias,
00:18:44the trainer of the corner
00:18:46of Khalid Rahilou.
00:18:47I like that.
00:18:47I like that.
00:18:48Let's keep her around.
00:18:49She's good.
00:18:50That's wonderful.
00:18:51There's a little dignity.
00:18:52Art theater.
00:18:52I feel like I'm back
00:18:53to looking at art films.
00:18:55Round three.
00:18:56Randall before fighting
00:18:58before someone
00:18:59out of a hometown crowd
00:19:00just three hours away.
00:19:02But they've been largely
00:19:03silent thus far.
00:19:06Well, evidently,
00:19:07the extra movement
00:19:08and non-fighting
00:19:10is part of a strategy
00:19:11to get Frankie
00:19:12a little riled
00:19:12out of his game plan
00:19:13and mad.
00:19:14That's what they said
00:19:15in the corner.
00:19:17Get him mad.
00:19:19I would think
00:19:20that's the opposite
00:19:20of what you would want
00:19:21to do to a fighter.
00:19:22Don't get him mad
00:19:23because if you do,
00:19:24it's going to be all over.
00:19:26Hey, Bobby,
00:19:27big plus going into
00:19:28his fights with Chavez.
00:19:31Randall never really
00:19:32absorbed any major beatings
00:19:34in his career.
00:19:35But in the last couple of years
00:19:36against Chavez and Kochi,
00:19:37he has.
00:19:38Do you think
00:19:38that has taken his toll
00:19:40on the 35-year-old bones?
00:19:42It's a very,
00:19:42very funny thing
00:19:43about the game
00:19:43because boxing
00:19:44is so individual
00:19:46that sometimes
00:19:47it only takes
00:19:47one or two really bad wars
00:19:48to really destroy a fighter.
00:19:50Other fighters
00:19:50can go through
00:19:51year after year
00:19:52as did Jake LaMotta
00:19:53and be fine.
00:19:55Plus he's had some,
00:19:56you know,
00:19:57out-of-the-ring problems
00:19:58as well.
00:19:59Those tend to concern me
00:20:00more than the fight wars
00:20:01themselves.
00:20:02And, you know,
00:20:03I've heard rumors
00:20:04about this and that
00:20:05and some alcohol abuse
00:20:05and other problems
00:20:06and I don't,
00:20:08if it's not,
00:20:08if I don't see it,
00:20:09it's not fact to me.
00:20:10But nevertheless,
00:20:11that many rumors
00:20:11can't be unfounded completely.
00:20:13Those things will take
00:20:14your toll on you
00:20:14almost immediately.
00:20:15Well, you know,
00:20:15he was a track star
00:20:16early on
00:20:17and he loves his legs.
00:20:18I mean,
00:20:18he runs five a day.
00:20:19So I don't know
00:20:20what he does
00:20:20in the evenings
00:20:21because I've heard
00:20:22the same rumors
00:20:23but I'll tell you what,
00:20:24when the bell rings,
00:20:25you can't tell it in here.
00:20:26He has unusual trading habits.
00:20:27He told us,
00:20:28gee,
00:20:28he'll get up 12.31
00:20:29in the morning,
00:20:29run six miles.
00:20:30Decide he hasn't had enough training,
00:20:32go in and train some more.
00:20:33Yeah, but you know,
00:20:33I understand that too
00:20:35because there have been times
00:20:35at 2.30 in the morning
00:20:36I would just wake up
00:20:37and I would go run
00:20:38my five miles
00:20:38because I couldn't sleep.
00:20:40It was insomnia.
00:20:41You think about the fight
00:20:42and your body's in the rhythm
00:20:43and you can never tell sometimes.
00:20:45When it needs the rest,
00:20:45it'll take it.
00:20:46Well,
00:20:47that's happened to me
00:20:48time and again.
00:20:48I get up and get a glass
00:20:49of milk and some pound cake.
00:20:50Go right back to sleep.
00:20:52Vital minute of round three.
00:20:54Yes,
00:20:55the last two years
00:20:55have been extremely intense.
00:20:57Hard battles.
00:20:58I can't believe
00:20:58this corner told him
00:20:59to blow a couple of rounds here.
00:21:01Well,
00:21:01I'll tell you what,
00:21:02he's fighting back now
00:21:02and fighting back well.
00:21:04For a nice combination,
00:21:05this has been a much,
00:21:05much better round
00:21:06and even round right now.
00:21:09Here comes Randall though.
00:21:11Stalking.
00:21:12Raheel Oh,
00:21:13Randall pressing the attack.
00:21:14Dictating the temple
00:21:16from the opening bell.
00:21:25Missing with that left hook,
00:21:27Randall is Raheel Oh,
00:21:29with the defense,
00:21:29Eveless slip away.
00:21:31Just,
00:21:32just the distance
00:21:33to slip away.
00:21:34He's keeping good distance.
00:21:36Raheel Oh,
00:21:37continues to maneuver
00:21:38to the right
00:21:39as Bobby pointed out earlier.
00:21:41But,
00:21:41but doing some fighting this time.
00:21:42We've got to give credit.
00:21:43Get that left hook off,
00:21:51you'll cut him off now.
00:21:52You ain't getting
00:21:53left hook off
00:21:53to the body.
00:21:54He keeps moving
00:21:55this way on you,
00:21:56Frank.
00:21:56You've got to pull
00:21:57that shoulder back
00:21:58and get that left hook
00:21:59off off your jab.
00:22:01Jab,
00:22:01left hook like this.
00:22:02Swing pass,
00:22:02jab,
00:22:02left hook right hand.
00:22:04Jab,
00:22:04pull your shoulder back
00:22:05and go down here.
00:22:06Come on back.
00:22:06Okay?
00:22:08Come on now.
00:22:09Don't sit.
00:22:10Don't,
00:22:11don't get,
00:22:11don't get lazy
00:22:12and sit.
00:22:13When you catch up to him,
00:22:14keep your back,
00:22:15back bent
00:22:15where you can hit his body.
00:22:17Alright?
00:22:20Get that left hook off now.
00:22:22Come on, J.
00:22:24Well,
00:22:25let's look at some
00:22:25of the fight
00:22:26he's got coming back.
00:22:27I agree with Bobby.
00:22:27It was a little bit
00:22:28of an even round.
00:22:29I'm not sure
00:22:29that he won that,
00:22:30but at least
00:22:31he came up to
00:22:32within even
00:22:33distance of scoring.
00:22:35He fought back
00:22:36and he moved better.
00:22:37Let's see what,
00:22:38whether they got,
00:22:39when they're going
00:22:39to turn loose this tiger.
00:22:41Round four,
00:22:41Randall started to
00:22:42press the action
00:22:43more in the last round,
00:22:44but Rahalo showed
00:22:45some good countering skills
00:22:46and Bobby,
00:22:47you noticed something
00:22:48interesting in that
00:22:48Randall corner.
00:22:50You know,
00:22:50Randall looked a little
00:22:51more tired than usual
00:22:51after three rounds,
00:22:52so I'm laying back
00:22:53kind of breathing
00:22:54a little bit heavier
00:22:56than he should be.
00:22:56This has not been
00:22:57a terrifically fast
00:22:58face fight.
00:22:59It's going to tell him
00:22:59to cut the ring off.
00:23:01Don't let him move
00:23:01around at will.
00:23:02Good advice.
00:23:03Cut the ring off,
00:23:04go to the body,
00:23:04work up into combinations.
00:23:05That's what he's
00:23:06supposed to do.
00:23:07He cannot let Rahalo
00:23:08do whatever Rahalo wants.
00:23:09He was slumped
00:23:10back in on his stool.
00:23:12But he comes out
00:23:13in intense fashion
00:23:15and he goes right
00:23:17after the head
00:23:17and body of Rahalo.
00:23:20Now this may or may not
00:23:21be the mad
00:23:22they wanted to bring out
00:23:23Frankie.
00:23:24I don't know.
00:23:24We'll find out soon.
00:23:26You know,
00:23:26it also is,
00:23:27Frankie's out of
00:23:28a very long and strong career
00:23:29and in and out of the ring.
00:23:31It comes to those nights
00:23:32when you're no longer
00:23:33Frankie Randall.
00:23:34I don't think this is
00:23:35one of the nights tonight.
00:23:36I don't think so at all.
00:23:37But you never know.
00:23:38So that's the,
00:23:39when you get to this adventure
00:23:41at the end of your
00:23:41boxing career as a champion,
00:23:43this is when
00:23:44stuff gets interesting.
00:23:45Well,
00:23:45prior to his first bout
00:23:46with Chavez,
00:23:47he was often overlooked
00:23:48and underrated.
00:23:49He did not get
00:23:50his first title shot
00:23:51until his 52nd fight.
00:23:5415 to 100 dogs
00:23:55against Chavez.
00:23:57He won
00:23:57inside of a year,
00:23:58a two-time world champ,
00:23:59now a three-time world champ.
00:24:01Frankie,
00:24:02I noticed,
00:24:03has considerably less
00:24:04on his punches
00:24:05than normal.
00:24:05Not as powerful.
00:24:06He can't seem
00:24:07to get the timing
00:24:08down at Rahalo.
00:24:09He's thrown a couple
00:24:09of nice body shots,
00:24:10dug some hooks
00:24:11in there nicely.
00:24:12Frankie's not getting off
00:24:13the way he normally does.
00:24:14But you know,
00:24:14the thing I've noticed,
00:24:16there's a good right hand
00:24:17by Rahalo.
00:24:18People have forgotten,
00:24:19a lot of people have forgotten
00:24:21what he did,
00:24:21what Chavez.
00:24:22That sort of has been
00:24:23swept under the carpet.
00:24:24He never got credit for that.
00:24:26Never got credit for it.
00:24:28I resent that
00:24:29because he was
00:24:29the first one to beat him.
00:24:31Not anybody else.
00:24:32He was the first one
00:24:32to beat him.
00:24:33He was the first one
00:24:33to give credit to.
00:24:34I thought Whitaker
00:24:35was the first one
00:24:35to beat him.
00:24:36Maybe that was a draw.
00:24:37I thought this guy
00:24:38beat him.
00:24:39I thought he beat him
00:24:40more convincingly,
00:24:42but I thought
00:24:42Whitaker
00:24:43was one.
00:24:44Less than a minute
00:24:44remaining in round four
00:24:46for the WBA Junior
00:24:48World of Warwick Championship.
00:24:52Randall continues
00:24:53to come forward.
00:24:57Combination
00:24:57by Rahalo.
00:24:58He landed with the right
00:24:59missed with the left hook.
00:25:06Again,
00:25:06while on the retreat,
00:25:08Rahalo able to sneak
00:25:09in a right hand.
00:25:10Let's see what he does,
00:25:11Steve.
00:25:11If he moves,
00:25:12stops quickly,
00:25:12plants his feet,
00:25:13fires and moves again.
00:25:14Sometimes very difficult
00:25:15to catch up to.
00:25:2220 seconds remaining
00:25:23in round four.
00:25:24There's the jab of Randall
00:25:25trying to set up the right.
00:25:27More of a probing jab.
00:25:28And a point right,
00:25:32which missed totally.
00:25:36Rahalo with a right hand
00:25:37over the top
00:25:38didn't score.
00:25:44And again,
00:25:44we'll follow the Frenchman
00:25:45into the corner
00:25:46and our interpreter,
00:25:49a lovely Natalie.
00:25:50I don't want the war.
00:25:55I don't want you
00:25:56to be too far from him.
00:25:58You have to move
00:25:58very close from him.
00:26:01When you are moving,
00:26:03he cannot do nothing to you.
00:26:06But you have to be close
00:26:07to be able to give the punch.
00:26:09Now we start.
00:26:14I don't want you to do it.
00:26:17I don't want you to do it.
00:26:17I don't want you to do it.
00:26:18If you arrive
00:26:18to do two accelerations
00:26:19and you don't have to take it
00:26:20like that in the head,
00:26:21you start to sink in the nose.
00:26:23OK?
00:26:24He's going to go
00:26:25in two rounds.
00:26:27If you put it there,
00:26:27he's got the ball.
00:26:31All right?
00:26:32Don't put your hands up
00:26:33and sit.
00:26:34You've got to match them now.
00:26:35Come on now,
00:26:35that left hook.
00:26:36Left hook, right hand.
00:26:37Yeah.
00:26:37And hit that hip.
00:26:38It is round number five.
00:26:46In round four,
00:26:47Rahulu continued
00:26:47to show a lot of movement.
00:26:49Also managed to connect
00:26:51with some good combinations.
00:26:53Randall fighting him hard
00:26:54to catch up with.
00:26:55I must say,
00:26:55the corner is very impressive.
00:26:57It's like they got a blueprint
00:26:58there they're following.
00:26:59They say, well,
00:26:59let's get up to now.
00:27:01And now let's start opening up.
00:27:03I mean, you know,
00:27:04like maybe perhaps
00:27:05the strategy of running around
00:27:08like that and getting
00:27:08this guy tired,
00:27:09hoping that the old legs
00:27:10will go, chasing him,
00:27:12and then coming back
00:27:12to fight after four rounds.
00:27:13Not a bad strategy,
00:27:14except you give away
00:27:15a lot of rounds.
00:27:30Frankie's staying focused
00:27:31right now,
00:27:31conserving his energy,
00:27:32now wasting punches,
00:27:33working the body now
00:27:34a little more
00:27:35than he has
00:27:36in the first few rounds.
00:27:38That's the quickest way
00:27:39to get a guy to stop moving
00:27:40is working his body.
00:27:43Khalil is not doing badly.
00:27:45He's 28-2
00:27:46with 14 knockouts.
00:27:48His first world title shot,
00:27:50first fight
00:27:51of the United States.
00:27:54Ranked number one
00:27:55for the last couple of years
00:27:56by the WBA.
00:27:5830 years of age
00:27:59from Pumpla, France,
00:28:00a Paris suburb.
00:28:01He's not scared of Randall at all.
00:28:29He's here to win the title.
00:28:30He's there.
00:28:30He's moving just on the,
00:28:32as Lewis Hikari says,
00:28:34moving just on the edge
00:28:35to try and stay within range,
00:28:37but not within striking,
00:28:38good striking,
00:28:39solid striking range.
00:28:40No common opponents
00:28:42for Randall and Rahulu.
00:28:43One minute to go
00:28:44in the fifth.
00:28:45Rahulu beginning to come on.
00:28:48Nice little rally.
00:28:49Didn't hit that much,
00:28:50but it was a nice rally.
00:28:53Certainly stepping up the face
00:28:54from his side.
00:28:57Let him go, let him go,
00:28:58let him go.
00:28:58Digging to the body
00:29:01as Rahulu
00:29:01and answering back
00:29:02with a left uppercut
00:29:03was Randall.
00:29:05Right to the midsection
00:29:06of Rahulu.
00:29:12Randall continues
00:29:13to dictate the pace
00:29:15for the most part.
00:29:17Coming forward,
00:29:19taking the fight
00:29:19to the challenger.
00:29:22Soft punch to the ribs
00:29:24by Randall.
00:29:24Combination to the head
00:29:25by Rahulu.
00:29:27And answered back
00:29:27to the body.
00:29:28Well, here in Nashville,
00:29:46a little bit later,
00:29:47we're going to revisit
00:29:48that awesome night,
00:29:50November the 9th,
00:29:51between Mike Tyson
00:29:53and Evander Holyfield
00:29:54for the WBA Heavyweight Championship.
00:29:57It was one for the books.
00:29:59And we're going to take
00:30:00another look back at it.
00:30:02Also, the IVF
00:30:04Wellerweight Championship
00:30:04coming up as well
00:30:06as we take you
00:30:06to the dressing room
00:30:07of the champion
00:30:08Felix Trinidad.
00:30:09Always calm, cool,
00:30:10and composed.
00:30:11One of around 30 world champions
00:30:15from Puerto Rico.
00:30:18The island has produced
00:30:19over the last 60 years.
00:30:21There's been a lot of talk
00:30:22of Randall fighting
00:30:24Felix Trinidad perhaps
00:30:25down the road
00:30:26as well as
00:30:27terrible Terry Norris.
00:30:31Keep your jacks
00:30:32and no legs.
00:30:34Bend your legs
00:30:35and get that left hook off.
00:30:36Come on, now.
00:30:37We need that left hook.
00:30:38You're the chair.
00:30:39You're the chair.
00:30:41Well, before he can look
00:30:42down the road
00:30:43for Trinidad,
00:30:44he's got a little business
00:30:45to conduct tonight.
00:30:46Khalil is not laying down.
00:30:48He's not scared of him.
00:30:49He's fighting back
00:30:49and this thing
00:30:50is going to start
00:30:51to get interesting here.
00:30:52Randall's teal trunks
00:30:54now, Ferdinand Bobby.
00:30:55Drenched.
00:30:56A drenched-looking green.
00:30:57They've spilled
00:30:58a lot of water on Frank.
00:30:59I don't know
00:30:59if it was to wake him up
00:31:00or cool him off.
00:31:02He can't possibly
00:31:03be that hot.
00:31:04It's only the fifth round.
00:31:05I'm not sure
00:31:06what all that water's about.
00:31:07About 70%
00:31:08of Randall's fights
00:31:10have ended
00:31:10within six rounds,
00:31:11but Rahilu digging
00:31:12with the left uppercut
00:31:13to the midsection
00:31:13of Randall.
00:31:14As I say that,
00:31:16Rahilu holds his gloves
00:31:17up there, too.
00:31:18I mean, he is
00:31:19a well-disciplined fighter.
00:31:20This is no turkey here.
00:31:22No, he keeps his hands
00:31:23very high-tight defense.
00:31:25Moves constantly.
00:31:26Keeps discipline.
00:31:26Moves, bangs, moves, bangs.
00:31:28Bobby, his confidence,
00:31:29talking about Rahilu,
00:31:30has to be growing,
00:31:31particularly coming off
00:31:31the good flurry
00:31:32in the last round.
00:31:34Yeah, he closed.
00:31:34And one of the last two rounds,
00:31:36I think he actually won.
00:31:36He just did enough to work.
00:31:38He's been blocking
00:31:39a lot of Frankie's shots.
00:31:40Frankie hasn't landed
00:31:41cleanly like he's used to.
00:31:42He's normally
00:31:43accustomed to landing
00:31:43much more cleanly.
00:31:45And look at this.
00:31:46Rahilu is connecting,
00:31:47Ferdy.
00:31:48He has game plan
00:31:49for the fight,
00:31:50called for them,
00:31:51run around,
00:31:51get him tired,
00:31:52and then start unloading.
00:31:53And he's doing it.
00:31:54He's doing his game plan.
00:31:55He's hitting Frankie
00:31:56very clean.
00:31:57Frankie's getting
00:31:58a little anxious now.
00:31:59Maybe a piece of that
00:31:59getting him mad,
00:32:00which might be working.
00:32:02Well, a heavy
00:32:03straight right head
00:32:04off the combination
00:32:05by Rahilu.
00:32:05Both are landing.
00:32:06Good exchanges here.
00:32:08Rahilu said
00:32:08before the fight to us
00:32:09that the key
00:32:10will be hand speed.
00:32:13And it's working.
00:32:14And funny because
00:32:15Frankie thought
00:32:15he was a little
00:32:16on the slow side.
00:32:17Right.
00:32:17Yeah.
00:32:18That's the way
00:32:18he told me.
00:32:19No defense
00:32:20and slow punches
00:32:21is what Frankie said
00:32:22he diagnosed.
00:32:24Well,
00:32:25they aren't slow.
00:32:27So the action
00:32:28really heating up
00:32:28here at round six.
00:32:30He's turning the tide
00:32:30right now.
00:32:31Rahilu's winning a round
00:32:32and he's landing
00:32:33much more cleanly.
00:32:34Well, let me tell you,
00:32:35Bobby,
00:32:35I got one round even
00:32:36and one round for him.
00:32:37So this is a close
00:32:38to us.
00:32:39We're at 49-47.
00:32:41This is no day in the park.
00:32:43And he's winning
00:32:44this round.
00:32:45We said at the start
00:32:46that Rahilu
00:32:47probably has the best chance
00:32:48of any opponent
00:32:49on this card.
00:32:52And he is coming forth
00:32:54here in round six.
00:32:55Frankie's coming forward
00:32:56there,
00:32:56but he's not landing.
00:32:57And here he's getting
00:32:58hit clean.
00:32:59Well, this guy is landing.
00:33:00He is building points.
00:33:04Look at this.
00:33:06Oh, boy.
00:33:09We may be in
00:33:10for a strange night
00:33:10in Nashville.
00:33:11Yeah, things turning here.
00:33:12Oh, boy.
00:33:13The middle part
00:33:14of the fight
00:33:15for the challenger,
00:33:16Khalid Rahilu,
00:33:17looking to become
00:33:18the WBA junior
00:33:19welterweight champion.
00:33:20Frankie just does.
00:33:21Oh, a straight right
00:33:22by Rahilu that landed.
00:33:23Frankie just doesn't
00:33:24have the zip on his punch.
00:33:25He's not the speed,
00:33:26not the power,
00:33:26not the snap.
00:33:27He just doesn't
00:33:28seem to be,
00:33:28you know,
00:33:29in the zone.
00:33:30And a lot of these
00:33:30punches by Rahilu
00:33:31are landing
00:33:32on the face of Randall.
00:33:33And with zip,
00:33:34with zip tone.
00:33:35You know what?
00:33:38There may be
00:33:39another big rock
00:33:40in the road
00:33:40for the half.
00:33:43And here we go again.
00:33:47Come on.
00:33:50Come on now.
00:33:52That's it.
00:33:52Take it easy.
00:33:53Relax.
00:33:54Come on now.
00:33:54You got to keep
00:33:55your jab
00:33:56snapped.
00:33:57All right?
00:33:57Your back hits
00:33:58the rope,
00:33:58Frank.
00:33:59You got to come
00:33:59around off the rope.
00:34:01All right?
00:34:02You got to make
00:34:03an opening,
00:34:03Frank.
00:34:04You're trying
00:34:04too hard.
00:34:05All right?
00:34:06Just let your punches
00:34:07flow on this guy.
00:34:08Just hit him anywhere.
00:34:09You catch up with him,
00:34:10all right?
00:34:11You catch up with him,
00:34:12just punch.
00:34:14All right?
00:34:14And keep your arms down,
00:34:16man.
00:34:16Come on in there.
00:34:17All right.
00:34:17Come on now.
00:34:18Let's see Randall
00:34:19starting to get some,
00:34:20taste some unheard of leather.
00:34:23I mean,
00:34:23he's not expecting
00:34:24to eat this much leather.
00:34:26Punches are crisp,
00:34:27they're hard,
00:34:28and they're landing.
00:34:29Very big surprise right now.
00:34:31Let's see what happens
00:34:31this round.
00:34:32Things are changing.
00:34:33Let's go!
00:34:34Let's go!
00:34:35Let's go!
00:34:37Let's go!
00:34:38Let's go!
00:34:38Let's go!
00:34:38Let's go!
00:34:38Let's go!
00:34:38Let's go!
00:34:38Let's go!
00:34:39Let's go!
00:34:42This fight was determined
00:34:44to be a showcase
00:34:45for Randall,
00:34:46just as it was
00:34:47for Trinidad and Norris,
00:34:48it may turn into
00:34:49a nightmare
00:34:50for Frankie.
00:34:51Let's go!
00:34:51Halfway through this fight,
00:34:52Rahelou is making
00:34:53the most
00:34:54of his first title shot
00:34:55here in
00:34:57the hometown,
00:34:59so to speak,
00:34:59of Randall,
00:35:00who grew up
00:35:01in Morristown, Tennessee.
00:35:07Frankie came out
00:35:08with some renewed power
00:35:09and those punches.
00:35:10That combination
00:35:11to the body
00:35:11and the right hand
00:35:12had the Frankie Randall
00:35:13power and crispness.
00:35:15I was looking forward
00:35:15to start this fight.
00:35:17We know that Frankie
00:35:18can cruise along
00:35:19looking like he's
00:35:20getting beat
00:35:20and then all of a sudden
00:35:21turn a fight around.
00:35:21We've seen that
00:35:22so many times,
00:35:23but he's going to have
00:35:24to do it tonight.
00:35:25I mean,
00:35:25tough shots to the body
00:35:27now by Frankie Randall
00:35:28has really turned it up.
00:35:30Rahelou answering right back.
00:35:31He's gave a low blow
00:35:32by Frankie Randall
00:35:33in the warning
00:35:34by Rafael Rubbo.
00:35:36I think he's seen
00:35:37enough of referees
00:35:38not to want to hear
00:35:38any more from that referee.
00:35:41Frankie got some
00:35:42good body work in here
00:35:43and I think that made
00:35:44a little bit of a difference
00:35:45to start this round on.
00:35:47Hey, he got his attention.
00:35:48At least it was,
00:35:48it's not going to be
00:35:49that he's going to punch
00:35:50with impunity.
00:35:50He's going to get hit
00:35:51if he punches down low.
00:35:54A lot of those punches
00:35:55are right at the belt level.
00:35:56Randall is showing the grit
00:36:01and determination
00:36:02that got him
00:36:04a couple of championships,
00:36:06two, three championships
00:36:07over the last two years.
00:36:09He's 35,
00:36:10but as mentioned before,
00:36:11he said he feels
00:36:11like a 23-year-old.
00:36:15At times,
00:36:16he has been looking
00:36:1735 though tonight.
00:36:18Right now,
00:36:19he's looking like the kid again.
00:36:21Back comes Rahelou.
00:36:23Randall though,
00:36:24missing with a wild right
00:36:25as does Rahelou.
00:36:26And the flurry continues.
00:36:28Good one.
00:36:28That's Rahelou's game plan.
00:36:30Punch,
00:36:30slipped just outside the punches,
00:36:32jumped right back
00:36:32in combination,
00:36:33counter to counter
00:36:34and counter to counter's counter.
00:36:35He's playing,
00:36:36he's playing the game well.
00:36:37Oh, he's playing it good
00:36:38and he played it on the ropes
00:36:39with the champions
00:36:41back to the ropes,
00:36:42with Randall's back to the ropes.
00:36:43So that's pretty good fighting
00:36:44on,
00:36:45pretty good fighting indeed.
00:36:47A lot of movement
00:36:49side to side
00:36:50by Rahelou,
00:36:51trying to confuse Randall
00:36:52moving to his right.
00:36:53Rahelou's right.
00:37:06Frankie missing shots
00:37:07that he used to hit.
00:37:08He's a little frustrated right now.
00:37:10He's throwing some power shots
00:37:11and missed.
00:37:11Oh, a straight right hand
00:37:12by Randall
00:37:13to the jaw of Rahelou.
00:37:15And that one landed cleanly.
00:37:17But didn't have any effect at all.
00:37:19Look at Rahelou.
00:37:20He's got a good chin.
00:37:21Oh boy.
00:37:22He swings with the punch.
00:37:23He rolls with the shots
00:37:24and he comes right back punching.
00:37:27And he's punching
00:37:28three, four, five punches.
00:37:29I mean,
00:37:30these are point getters.
00:37:34Nice.
00:37:38Rahelou just standing right in there
00:37:40and firing away.
00:37:43Wow.
00:37:45Twisting right uppercut
00:37:46at the goal by Rahelou.
00:37:48I want to hear what they get
00:37:49to say to Randall.
00:37:51Just keep touching him like this.
00:37:53That's it.
00:37:54That's it.
00:37:55All right.
00:37:56Put me there.
00:37:57Come on now.
00:37:59That's it.
00:37:59Just keep touching him.
00:38:00All right.
00:38:01Come on now.
00:38:02Relax.
00:38:03Just keep touching him like that.
00:38:05Suck it up.
00:38:05Keep touching.
00:38:06Keep touching.
00:38:07Double jab.
00:38:08Keep saying you're making him tie.
00:38:10All right.
00:38:11You're in the eighth round.
00:38:12He ain't going to run like that
00:38:12all night long.
00:38:13Running's just got to take your time.
00:38:15Don't stop losing your speed now.
00:38:19All right.
00:38:19Let's look at Randall responding
00:38:21to this attack.
00:38:22Right hand's bouncing off.
00:38:24But you see,
00:38:24they don't do anything
00:38:25for this guy.
00:38:26He comes right back fighting.
00:38:27And he's fighting in bunches.
00:38:29You know,
00:38:29it's four or five,
00:38:30six bunches.
00:38:31He moves away.
00:38:32Randall is looking like he's cocked
00:38:34but can't throw it.
00:38:43Randall seems to be responding
00:38:45to the fire and brimstone
00:38:47of trainer Aaron Snowell,
00:38:49who's trained Sheffield world champions.
00:38:51He's had Frankie Randall
00:38:52for quite some time now.
00:38:55You know,
00:38:56they say the first thing to go
00:38:57as you get a little older,
00:38:58your legs in the corner.
00:38:59And Frankie asked the corner
00:39:00to rub his legs down.
00:39:01So that's something
00:39:02that maybe we should watch
00:39:03in that 35 is actually
00:39:04not 23 after all.
00:39:06Can we get your unofficial
00:39:07scoring at this point here?
00:39:09I have a 68-66.
00:39:11I have Frankie still ahead.
00:39:12I thought he came back
00:39:12the last round with Strong.
00:39:13Worked to the body.
00:39:14I think he's ahead
00:39:15by a couple of points.
00:39:16But this fight is by no means
00:39:17a runaway.
00:39:18How about you?
00:39:18I have a dead even.
00:39:1967-67 because that last round
00:39:21I thought Khalil was landing
00:39:23many more combinations.
00:39:24A lot harder punches
00:39:25than was the champion.
00:39:28Rahelou's strategy
00:39:29and both men
00:39:29continue to frustrate Randall.
00:39:32Heading it around number eight here.
00:39:35I think regardless
00:39:36of what happens
00:39:36if this fight continues
00:39:37in this particular vein
00:39:39that Khalil Rahelou's name
00:39:40will now become
00:39:41much more of a top quality name.
00:39:44Yeah, his stock goes up.
00:39:47Well, he's doing
00:39:48a very adequate job,
00:39:50a good job
00:39:50against Frankie Randall.
00:39:55What do you attribute that to?
00:39:57Is it good, Rahelou,
00:39:58or bad Randall?
00:39:59Earlier in the night
00:40:00I said when you get
00:40:01to old fighters
00:40:01you never know
00:40:02when it's the night
00:40:02that they're no longer themselves.
00:40:04And if this continues like this
00:40:06this may be the night
00:40:06that Frankie's
00:40:07no longer Frankie Randall.
00:40:08I mean all of his
00:40:09rocks on the road
00:40:10and all the different
00:40:11problems he's had
00:40:12could be mounting up
00:40:13and he's 35.
00:40:14I certainly agree
00:40:15this is not Frankie Randall
00:40:16at his best
00:40:17but Rahelou is also
00:40:18fighting a unique fight
00:40:20a unique style
00:40:21and one that's very difficult
00:40:22for the average man
00:40:23to deal with
00:40:24because of all the movement.
00:40:25Beautiful right uppercut.
00:40:28Rahelou
00:40:29smothering Randall
00:40:33there's no quitting Frankie Randall
00:40:36furious exchange
00:40:38with a minute to go
00:40:40and round eight
00:40:40both open up
00:40:42but as Rahelou
00:40:45is doing the damage.
00:40:47Frankie's eating
00:40:47every one of those right hands
00:40:48he's not moving his head
00:40:49he looks like he's just
00:40:51sleepwalking through
00:40:51that combination.
00:40:53And anytime he threw back
00:40:54he didn't throw
00:40:54with a lot of force
00:40:55he didn't land
00:40:56so all of those exchanges
00:40:57big big time points
00:40:58I think Rahelou
00:40:59Randall may be tired
00:41:01and only
00:41:01went down
00:41:02with that right hand
00:41:03by Rahelou
00:41:04Randall's gloves
00:41:06are awfully low
00:41:07and he looks worn out
00:41:10and he looks like
00:41:11he could be ready
00:41:12one good shot
00:41:13by Rahelou here
00:41:14and he looks very unsteady
00:41:16on his feet right now
00:41:17talking about Randall
00:41:18the champ.
00:41:18What he looks like
00:41:19is an old champion
00:41:20taking a beating
00:41:21from a young contender
00:41:22that's what he looks like.
00:41:23You know right now
00:41:23he's showing every bit
00:41:24of his age
00:41:25but he just
00:41:25he could be an off day
00:41:26it could be that day
00:41:27where he's grown old
00:41:28or he could have just
00:41:29got hurt by something
00:41:30that we don't know about
00:41:31and the steam is out
00:41:32of Randall's punches
00:41:33here at round 8
00:41:34final seconds
00:41:35what he's getting hurt
00:41:36by is these repetitive
00:41:37combinations
00:41:38and that's been going on
00:41:39for 3 or 4 rounds
00:41:40now that didn't just
00:41:41start this round.
00:41:42You know a big right up
00:41:42if it started that hurting
00:41:43started that onslaught
00:41:45a big lift up if it followed
00:41:46should have been the key.
00:41:50Alright you're trying
00:41:51to hit him with hard shots
00:41:52a guy like that
00:41:53will relax your arms now
00:41:54sit up
00:41:55sit up
00:41:56sit up
00:41:56sit up
00:41:57straight man
00:41:57come on now
00:41:59relax
00:42:00here give me that
00:42:01now listen to me Frank
00:42:03every time you're going
00:42:05down there
00:42:05he's counting you
00:42:06with the uppercut now
00:42:07keep it
00:42:08alright here's the shot
00:42:09that got it started
00:42:09the uppercut
00:42:10keep your eyes
00:42:11on Rylou's
00:42:13there it is
00:42:14that shot
00:42:15and look at the effect
00:42:16on Frankie's face
00:42:17look at him
00:42:17and later on
00:42:19Bobby
00:42:19carry it through
00:42:20you know that's what
00:42:21started it Ferdy
00:42:22and later on
00:42:23right hand after right hand
00:42:24you see Rylou's throwing
00:42:25right hand after right hand
00:42:27here's some work on the
00:42:28inside
00:42:28but the feet are not
00:42:30underneath him
00:42:30watch his right hand
00:42:31and there's Frank's feet
00:42:33just come out from under him
00:42:34that's you know that's very
00:42:36indicative of a guy who's got
00:42:37problems
00:42:38his legs are not
00:42:39not under him
00:42:40they're getting to be
00:42:41spaghetti
00:42:42look at Randall trying to
00:42:43get himself going
00:42:44here psyched himself up
00:42:45they continue to rub down
00:42:46his legs in the corner
00:42:47well we have seen
00:42:49some surprises on
00:42:50Showtime in the past
00:42:51year or two
00:42:52and this would be
00:42:53a major one
00:42:53round eight
00:42:54a big one
00:42:55for Rahilou
00:42:56we're now at around nine
00:42:57and that last round
00:42:58could really affect
00:43:00Randall the rest of the way
00:43:01big right hand
00:43:02by Frank Adair
00:43:03Rahilou showing
00:43:04no ill effects
00:43:04and no fear
00:43:06no fear
00:43:07oh look out
00:43:08he staggered Randall
00:43:09a straight right hand
00:43:10by Rahilou
00:43:11and that wobbled
00:43:12the legs of Frankie Randall
00:43:14got a time left too
00:43:16in round nine
00:43:17another right uppercut
00:43:19on the inside
00:43:19beautiful shot
00:43:20another nice right
00:43:21uppercut
00:43:21Rahilou
00:43:23having his way now
00:43:25and he's backing
00:43:26the champion up
00:43:27Frankie just wiping
00:43:28off his feet
00:43:28as if he's slipping
00:43:29on something
00:43:30like water
00:43:30or slippery stuff
00:43:31I think that's
00:43:32his imagination
00:43:33I think he's never
00:43:35felt his legs
00:43:36like this before
00:43:37Rahilou
00:43:4128 and 2
00:43:42with just 14 knockouts
00:43:44looking for the KO here
00:43:45and now the crowd
00:43:46urging the hometown
00:43:48product Randall on
00:43:49and Frankie's coming on
00:43:50as best he can
00:43:51there's no quitting
00:43:51Frankie Randall
00:43:52he's a warrior
00:43:53oh no
00:43:54and you got the chance
00:43:55that one shot can carry
00:43:56you with Frankie Randall
00:43:57that's what you got here
00:43:58Randall responding
00:44:01to the crowd
00:44:02comes over the top
00:44:06with an overhand right
00:44:07do you depict Randall
00:44:08though Bobby
00:44:09as a one punch
00:44:10knockout artist
00:44:10no he's not
00:44:11but what he does
00:44:12is throw crisp
00:44:12sharp punches
00:44:13and one can start it
00:44:14as the right uppercut
00:44:15did with Khalid
00:44:16Khalid hit him
00:44:17with that right uppercut
00:44:18he's not a one punch
00:44:18knockout artist either
00:44:19but it started something
00:44:20and that's what Frankie
00:44:21needs to do
00:44:22start something of his own
00:44:23Frankie picking up
00:44:24the pace here
00:44:25even though it's ineffective
00:44:26but at least he's
00:44:27trying to get it on
00:44:28he's trying to be
00:44:28the offensive leader here
00:44:30and not let the other
00:44:30guy take the offense
00:44:31champion's heart
00:44:33Randall has been
00:44:35very unsteady
00:44:36the last couple of rounds
00:44:37sporadic chants
00:44:39of Frankie
00:44:39from this Nashville crown
00:44:41great right hand
00:44:43by Randall
00:44:44a glancing blow
00:44:45the crowd goes
00:44:46sensing that Randall
00:44:46might be coming back
00:44:47tell you what
00:44:49Frankie's coming back
00:44:50but he's not blocking
00:44:52that right hand
00:44:52he's walking
00:44:53into Khalid's right hand
00:44:54he can't keep doing that
00:44:55he's coming back
00:44:56at his own defeat
00:44:57there at his own cost
00:44:58because he's getting a hit
00:44:59he's coming back
00:45:00and getting hit
00:45:01but he's not hitting anybody
00:45:02but the gutsy Randall
00:45:03continues to show
00:45:04that grit and determination
00:45:05we saw against Chavez
00:45:07and Koji
00:45:08the last two years
00:45:09a lesser opponent here
00:45:11but certainly
00:45:13an impressive one
00:45:15Frankie's trying to outman
00:45:16out guts
00:45:17from the opponent
00:45:18and he's got a lot of guts
00:45:19but he's getting countered
00:45:21pretty effectively
00:45:21Randall continues to
00:45:24counter but he's eating
00:45:25a lot of leather
00:45:26and not much
00:45:27on Frankie's punches
00:45:28not real hard
00:45:29not that Frankie Randall
00:45:31zip that we talked about
00:45:32it's not there
00:45:33now he just hangs on
00:45:37to Rahelo
00:45:39oh he's got kind of
00:45:41an anguished look
00:45:42on his face
00:45:43pass Randall
00:45:44now sit up in that corner
00:45:49you got to get mean
00:45:50you want this title
00:45:51come on now
00:45:52you just got to keep
00:45:53touching him now
00:45:54that's better
00:45:55come on now
00:45:56come on now
00:45:57sit not
00:45:58sit up
00:45:58sit up
00:45:59sit up
00:45:59get there
00:46:00now fuck it up
00:46:01you get
00:46:02if you pick this pace up
00:46:04on this kid
00:46:04he ain't used to going
00:46:06down this stretch
00:46:07Frankie
00:46:07come on
00:46:08listen to me man
00:46:09come on now
00:46:11if you pick your pace
00:46:12up going down this stretch
00:46:14alright let's take a look
00:46:14at Randall getting a little
00:46:16bit of trouble
00:46:16even though he came out
00:46:17with his championship part
00:46:19to take advantage
00:46:20still look at that
00:46:21you see how his legs are
00:46:22going can't control his legs
00:46:24when he gets hit real hard
00:46:25and you see Randall he's
00:46:28trying to come back later
00:46:28he is all man in all guts
00:46:30he wants to fight
00:46:31he wants to try and press
00:46:32the fight
00:46:32and push the fight
00:46:33whether he's tired hurt
00:46:34or otherwise
00:46:34still though he's not being
00:46:36effective a lot of puncher
00:46:37blocking there you see the
00:46:38right hand again
00:46:38he's not watching his
00:46:40defense on the attack
00:46:41Rahelo told us yesterday
00:46:45that in order to win he's
00:46:46going to have to box and
00:46:47fight smart and he's doing
00:46:48just that against the
00:46:49champion Frankie Randall
00:46:52and Randall well he could be
00:46:54seeing a couple of big
00:46:55money fights go out the
00:46:56window if he doesn't get it
00:46:58going here
00:46:58well I've got it dead even
00:47:00and I could be it could be
00:47:02my memory of the great
00:47:04Frankie Randall playing
00:47:04games on me but but I would
00:47:06not would not be surprised
00:47:08if the judges had the
00:47:09contender ahead by at least
00:47:11a point or two not be
00:47:12surprised at all I
00:47:13wouldn't be surprised either
00:47:14way because somehow we're
00:47:15not boxing experts anymore
00:47:16when it comes to the
00:47:17judges everybody's got his
00:47:19opinion but we're all pretty
00:47:21well in the same ballpark
00:47:22this isn't even oh I think he
00:47:27stepped on Frankie's foot
00:47:28Frankie no he did something
00:47:30on the floor he's sliding on
00:47:31that paint there sometimes
00:47:32that paint gets wet he's the
00:47:33only one that's sliding though
00:47:34the other guy's not sliding
00:47:36very slick we approach the
00:47:39final two minutes of round
00:47:40number ten my first term
00:47:42pro the old rule was never
00:47:43wear new shoes into a fight
00:47:44break them in somewhere else
00:47:46well you remember we used to
00:47:47scratch all the bottoms without
00:47:49with our scissors like crazy
00:47:50before we ever let anybody go
00:47:51fight
00:47:51now it looks like uh rahilu
00:47:57taking a little time off and
00:48:01randall unable to take advantage
00:48:03rahilu a little weary from all
00:48:07the punches he threw the last few
00:48:08rounds
00:48:08now he comes back with a straight
00:48:10right hand just getting a breather
00:48:12recharging well I'll tell you
00:48:14what that counter right hand
00:48:14look at that left hook behind
00:48:16that counter right hand has been
00:48:17his bread and butter all night
00:48:18the counter in the lead
00:48:19and Frankie's just not blocking
00:48:21and then he gets hit with the
00:48:22left hand after it now you know
00:48:23Frankie shouldn't get hit by that
00:48:24left hand after the right hand
00:48:25but he is
00:48:27very rarely has a fighter been able
00:48:30to hit Frankie with an entire
00:48:31combination without paying
00:48:32oh look at that set of combinations
00:48:39that was beautiful that was
00:48:41beautiful first to the head with
00:48:43the right hand by rahilu and then
00:48:44digging to the body with the left
00:48:46and nothing back from Frankie but
00:48:48but a glazed expression on his face
00:48:51like how did you hit me with three
00:48:52punches
00:48:53you see when Frankie throws those
00:48:55punches aren't landing clean
00:48:56he's not being very accurate and the
00:48:58punches are just not landing clean
00:49:00just not making any effect whatsoever
00:49:02his Khalil's art
00:49:04Frankie Ranto right now having his
00:49:08difficulty in solving the challenger
00:49:10number one contender Khalid Rahilu
00:49:12he's puzzled
00:49:15boy Rahilu just keeps on pummeling
00:49:18Rahilu has answers for everything
00:49:21the face is beginning to puff up on the
00:49:25champion Randall is wearing an
00:49:28expression of weariness I'll tell you
00:49:30what speed and accuracy of the
00:49:32counter punch has been the key all
00:49:34night he's just been doing it time and
00:49:36time again combination to the head by
00:49:38Rahilu what a glory by Rahilu he
00:49:41scored good that's not the turning point
00:49:43in the fight I don't know what is that
00:49:45that says I'm the new champion our
00:49:47translator Natalie you are going to win
00:49:50that fighter because we have made a
00:49:52you follow the plan sir you are winning
00:50:03the fighter listen to us you want to
00:50:10become a champion you make make the
00:50:13difference let's take a look at that
00:50:22defining moment there as you can see the
00:50:26punches he's throwing are so crisp and
00:50:28accurate and nothing back from the
00:50:30champion that's a surprise nothing back
00:50:32and then toward the end he really got a
00:50:35three punch combination that said I'm the
00:50:37new champion as we head into the
00:50:41championship round Rahilu looks the
00:50:43pressure of the two certain to be an
00:50:47exciting finish I'll tell you what
00:50:50Ryan came out now as if in a
00:50:51finishing mode yeah and let me tell you
00:50:54that's when he can get caught because
00:50:56he's still fighting Frankie Randall
00:50:57don't sell Frankie short by any means
00:50:59and I never would hire just tired looking
00:51:03to summon up the energy is Frankie
00:51:07Randall and this is where experience
00:51:10too can really pay off Bobby no well
00:51:12Frankie's been here so many times he
00:51:14dropped Chavez it was very late in the
00:51:16fight and he knows what it takes to
00:51:19finish
00:51:25looking to end it here in round 11
00:51:27looks bad for Frankie Randall that was
00:51:29a big series
00:51:33a big series in trouble that's
00:51:35trouble
00:51:36that's trouble
00:51:38he steps in and stops the fight
00:51:40we've got a new world champion
00:51:42it's
00:51:45Khalid Rahilu in his first world title
00:51:47shot and let the celebration begin for
00:51:50the French contingent
00:51:58Khalid Rahilu is the new
00:52:01is the new WBA junior well the way
00:52:04champion as he stunned Frankie Randall
00:52:08in Randall's hometown
00:52:10more
00:52:17unfortunate scenes for Frankie Randall we
00:52:19thought against Chavez we saw it
00:52:20against Koji but those were on the
00:52:21controversial technicalities no
00:52:22controversy here Bobby says the only
00:52:25controversy in my mind it did Frankie train the way it's
00:52:27supposed to
00:52:28for this fight
00:52:32and we're gonna look at the finish here and
00:52:34Rahilu came out hungry he came out fast and he came out hard he came right at Frankie here you see him strong from big home
00:52:40hard punches but frame that right hand pushing Frankie back to the corner and just unloading relentless again not big bombs but short sharp crisp shots and he did not stop and let up until he had Frankie pretty much defenseless
00:52:47Frankie trying but you can see Frankie's tired I don't believe he's just hurt I believe he's tired and a couple of those right hands really landed cleanly and right on the right hand
00:52:54the referee did the right thing frankly just didn't have it today whether it was age or under training or what have you Frankie was wearing it was the three
00:53:22or under training or what have you frankie was beaten today
00:53:28here we'll take another look at it from a different angle
00:53:32the last this is the last look at it and it's the same thing over and over
00:53:37khali rahulu was in shape he had an excellent game plan they let frank comes forward early
00:53:42and then turned it up midway through and then really turned it up and you heard uh
00:53:46his trainer in the corner lose a carry say you're gonna knock him out now and sure enough he believed
00:53:51it and he went out and he did it well the emotional roller coaster continues for frankie randall
00:53:56winning and losing a title from chavez and winning losing and regaining it from juan koji involved
00:54:01in some highly controversial affairs and now this khali rahulu goes to 29 and two with 15 knockouts
00:54:10wins the belt in his first fight in the united states his first title shot randall drops to 53
00:54:16five and one let's get the official announcement from jimmy lennon jr
00:54:25ladies and gentlemen we have a time of 58 seconds around number 11. a referee in charge rafael ramos
00:54:33stops the contest the winner by way of technical knockout the new wba jr welterweight champion of the world
00:54:47another upset on showtime turning this crowd ugly as khali rahulu upsets frankie randall the new wba
00:54:56jr welterweight champion for many people around the country going khali who but he was the number one
00:55:03challenger for the last couple of years his first world title shot takes the belt away from frankie randall
00:55:12so it's three down two to go here in nashville coming up next the ibf welterweight championship as
00:55:22once again the spotlight falls on the talented felix trinidad who puts his coveted title and
00:55:27undefeated record on the line against england's kevin lushing that'll be followed by our grand finale
00:55:33terrible terry norris against nick rupa but now for post fight interviews from our last bout we go to the
00:55:38fight doctor ferdy pacheco in the ring all right my pleasure to talk to you first ask him how difficult
00:55:45was this fight it was very tough because you know it was the champion it was in usa so i don't have to
00:56:00make any mistake on that fight and i just follow the strategy that we adopt on the gym did you follow
00:56:06the strategy exactly because it seemed like he ran for the first two rounds and then he began to box
00:56:11and then he began to attack and then he'd had a game plan was it a strategy planned in the gym
00:56:16you want to know the strategy that you adopted in the gym if it's the same that you followed
00:56:21throughout the fight because louis akarias during the fight you said
00:56:25he said that during one month and a half he was with louis akarias and he just followed the training
00:56:43and what they do on the gym with louis you know and that's why you know you win that fight because
00:56:48louis was telling him what to do and what's going to happen on the fight you know with randall
00:56:53at any point did he feel hurt by the punches of the champion
00:56:57you know like he was very ready for that fight you know he was feeling the punch you know but uh you
00:57:15know not too too enough uh strong for him all right louis akarias a veteran veteran fight manager
00:57:22were you surprised by the outcome yes no no he he he he he he he walk like a champ he was very hard
00:57:34three months we wait two years we we know we were from a big fight fighter is randall that uh
00:57:43khalid now is a great champ all right we don't need any translation that but we wait don't go
00:57:47away we have the champion here oh here's the champion the former champion the great frankie randall
00:57:53let's search it oh mama oh mama si vous plaît oh mama would you give him a rematch would you give
00:58:00him a rematch sure like a great champ khalid is ready for do a rematch absolutely yes all right frankie
00:58:07i'm gonna see congratulations frankie congratulations all of us are in shock and
00:58:14surprise to see uh frankie randall get taken care of by uh uh this fighter although he fought a
00:58:20brilliant fight against well khalid khalid is the number of contender he come in the fight he was
00:58:25ready to prepare uh it's one of those nights you got to win some and lose some but i win some and lost
00:58:30some before i came back on many controversians and i'm overcome missions uh it's part of boxing
00:58:35is part of my life and it's my job uh it was not keen to promote it is you know what kind of fighter
00:58:41i am the current person i am to give me the opportunity i'll take it is that a possibility
00:58:44is that a possibility that they fight again it's a possibility uh because uh you just talked to uh
00:58:50michela carries and he said absolutely he would give him a rematch or another fight so i think it is a
00:58:55possibility but again ferdy this demonstrates that on showtime you have the best fights you know
00:59:01what i'm saying in the world that we do but i have to ask you a tough question frankie and it's tough
00:59:05and you know you and i've been around a long time is this the night that frankie randall is no longer
00:59:10frankie randall you know it happens to ali and all of them i've only lost three fights as a professional
00:59:16i've had two world dollars taken away i haven't lost that many fights i haven't been in too many battles
00:59:20it wasn't it was a night that i wasn't on it wasn't my night uh all boxers have that i'm not saying i'm
00:59:25too old you're saying that i'm still good at what i do no i'm asking i'm not saying no no i'm not
00:59:30over to here i'm still good i'm still uh if don't give me an opportunity i'll be ready to fight it's
00:59:34something that happened it's happened before in my career and it can happen again i'm not finished
00:59:38i'm just begun all right where do you go from here here's the end of the fight let's let's take a look
00:59:44at the end of the fight you tell me frankie this is the combination start here go ahead that's you
00:59:50yeah i was taking a lot of punches i was trying to get set up and i was i was trying to set up he was coming
00:59:54with a variety of punches i was trying to get him up blocked i was sitting on a road blocking a lot
00:59:58of them he was trying to hit me but he just threw a variety of punches and it wasn't that i was he
01:00:01was hitting me so much he just threw a big bunch of variety of punches and the referee thought he
01:00:04could step in i was blocking most of the shots you can see yeah but you were so exhausted and the
01:00:08guy was just pounding on you looked like he had to stop the fight are you saying that you shouldn't
01:00:13have stopped that now i'm saying he shouldn't stop that i was just sitting around blocking shots
01:00:16trying to get him from throwing so many variety of punches i wasn't hurt i was just trying to get
01:00:19myself together my composure i'm a world-class fighter i know i do world-class things this is just one
01:00:23look at these shots i mean they're bouncing off birdie you look at him you see him he wasn't
01:00:26very busy live to fight another day you always will and all right i'm not making no excuses
01:00:30thanks for having me on showtime all right thank you good night and back to steve and bobby test
01:00:36all right uh ferdy thank you very much you can add the names edwin rosario primo ramos julio
01:00:41cesar chavez juan koji and uh khalid rahilu to the uh names uh that uh randall has lost to and i tell
01:00:50you we said if if anybody had a chance to pull off an upset on this particular card it was khalid rahilu
01:00:58uh i have to give a little assist bobby chez to steve farhood of the ring magazine who kindly
01:01:04tipped me off to that he said that watch out for this kid khalid rahilu and he was right well you
01:01:08know the scouting report was correct and that's why we have the scouts because we want them to
01:01:12find some information out for us it's hard to see the fighters that are overseas and keep up on their
01:01:16everyday day-to-day work and he fought a great fight louisicari had an excellent plan he believed
01:01:22he could take frankie randall out of his game plan used up some energy early while moving and conserving
01:01:26his he moved on middle round he started fighting started counting started using that left hook to
01:01:30the body which i think was very important got frank a little tired maybe frankie under trained only frankie
01:01:35knows but he got the job done he did it very very well bobby at the point of which the fight was
01:01:40stopped it was a tko around 11 58 seconds for rahilu two judges had it even 96 96 and uh the other judge
01:01:48had it 96 94 rahilu so up to that point a majority draw i had right away had 96 95 i believe so they're
01:01:56all in the ballpark and it's very difficult to get to have everybody believe exact same things that are
01:02:02going on and sometimes on the inside lose fight took place a lot too you miss punches the judge at one
01:02:06angle won't see some good shots where another one might that's why we have at least three well a
01:02:10very tough night not only for the uh the pride of frankie randall but for his bank book too i think
01:02:17well certainly a big fight with trinidad which was possibly down the road very soon down the road
01:02:21big buck fight and you know we're going to find out a little while just what frankie does now yeah
01:02:26let's get a little help from uh promoter don king who's standing by alongside ferdy pacheco what's in
01:02:32store for the future doc don real quick what's the future for frankie randall what does this mean for
01:02:38frankie he has a bright future if he's ready to rededicate himself redouble his efforts and get
01:02:43back in there and fight again because now it's wide open in the 140 pound class thank you very much
01:02:48don back to steve and bobby tess well here at the nashville arena let's take another look at the
01:02:57conclusion of the fight round number 11 when khalid rahilu really took off on frankie randall
01:03:04well you know he he was he was getting he was getting hit a lot and he wasn't answering back i
01:03:09think that's the key not a lot of the punches were clean but there were two or three of them very clean
01:03:13frankie just looking to hold on it's it's accurate it's an accurate stoppage it's a good stoppage
01:03:17he did the right thing he gave frankie a chance to fight back which frankie really didn't do
01:03:21a couple of token jabs out there and a slap rahi lu did the right thing and frankie you know it may
01:03:26be that day where he's just reached his 35 fully sometimes fighters get old in a day and it's a
01:03:31shame because i'm one of them i'd hate to think it happens put it in perspective frankie randall tells
01:03:36the fight doctor that it's only one bad night but is it the demise of a career that we're watching here
01:03:42tonight well like i said before we don't know what frankie did in the gym steves he knows he knows if
01:03:47he trained or if he didn't train i think that's key if he didn't train in the gym he knows why this is the
01:03:52type of performance that he put out if he did train his very best and this is all he could do
01:03:56i would suggest he not go too much further all right we'll see what happens uh in terms of frankie
01:04:03randall a real shocking uh situation here uh khalid rahi lu coming from france no less i mean this
01:04:11you talk about having odds stacked against you it's your first fight on american soil it's your first
01:04:16shot at a world championship but granted he was the number one contender but one of these
01:04:21nondescript guys not many people uh and that champion being frankie randall a man of his
01:04:26caliber yeah frankie randall's a great fighter we've seen him time and time again rise to the
01:04:30occasion do the job boxing is so very specific steve i know i talk about it all the time
01:04:36on one hour of one day you have to put all your mental physical and emotional self against another
01:04:40man who's prepared for two or three months to do the same against you anything can go right but
01:04:44certainly anything can go wrong for today it went wrong for frank well speaking of stunning upsets uh
01:04:49we switch gears to the uh the heavyweight division and uh let us get a comment as we revisit the holyfield
01:04:57tyson fight from november the ninth we're going to look at that in just a moment or two uh as we
01:05:02recollect i'm sure you look back on that with uh i think maybe the only person in that arena more
01:05:09shocked than myself would probably be mike dyson himself because you know after all i've been in
01:05:14there with evander i've seen what he can do i felt what he could do firsthand i also know what mike
01:05:18could do we've been broadcasting his fights i've been watching him on the fan of the game as well
01:05:22i was shocked evander though to his credit who i've always looked up to and admired as a great warrior
01:05:27rose to the occasion my best and humble perspective is this steve vander when he fought me didn't train
01:05:33as hard as he could for me and didn't think i was a tough figure he could get me out right away when i
01:05:37didn't he got tired in the fourth and fifth round and looked bad mike seeing this thought he can't
01:05:42hurt bobby chez hit him with everything he had 87 punches in the first round tired exhausted fourth
01:05:47fifth round starting to lose the fight he didn't have to train i think holyfield underestimated me
01:05:52i think tyson underestimated holyfield i think the rematch should be great but very different so
01:05:57you're the culprit it's my fault everything's my fault okay now tonight's boxing marathon continues here
01:06:06what do you think about uh trinidad and norris coming up later of course uh randall's situation
01:06:12goes right out the window bobby what about the future tonight randall's future is in jeopardy right now
