00:00This is not about a job anymore. I'm the investor, and you are going to make me some money.
00:09Heading to London, 16 potential business partners, all keen to kick-start a company.
00:17Don't try and hide, because, you know, we're not playing where's Wally here.
00:22I'm not looking for Lord Lucan. I'm looking for somebody who's going to show me
00:27that they have got the business acumen to be my partner.
00:31On offer, a 50-50 deal with the nation's most demanding investor.
00:36That first few lines there, to me, was you digging a bloody great big hole.
00:42Willing to bankroll new business in tough times, Lord Sugar is on the hunt for one winning partnership.
00:49Basic business principles went right down the drain on this thing. You should have all known better.
00:55Start the car!
00:56It's a deal worth fighting for.
00:58That's not fair. Like, we're taking it in turns.
01:00We've got to take it in turns.
01:01She needs to cop on to herself.
01:0216 candidates.
01:04It's way outside the box. It's way outside the box.
01:0812 tough weeks.
01:10Where am I coming?
01:12One life-changing opportunity.
01:14You're fired. You're fired. This is my boardroom, and by the way, this is my money. You're fired.
01:21The Apprentice.
01:22You're going to have to source your second-hand stock, and then sell it to the public.
01:36The team set up shop.
01:38Where did you get these from?
01:39Do you love that?
01:40In trendy East End London.
01:42What about a chair?
01:43No.
01:44Let's think, you know, realistically, how many items are we going to sell?
01:48For project manager Tom, less was more.
01:51I don't think we've got anywhere near enough.
01:53Leaving team-mate Adam to scavenge for stock.
01:56Found some great stuff in the skit.
01:59We're selling crap and turned it into style.
02:03Laura's team set out to turn trash into cash.
02:06120.
02:07I've got no clue in this.
02:09I don't buy the shit.
02:11But Gabrielle's tarted-up tat failed to take off.
02:15Please come and take this furniture off of me!
02:18In the boardroom...
02:19Looks like your stinginess paid off here.
02:21...a win for Tom...
02:23Laura, I don't think you did get the plot.
02:25...left Laura to defend her big spend.
02:28You bought a lot of stuff, and the shop looked like a tip.
02:32Gabrielle kept talking.
02:33I've made a lot of decisions, and I've taken a lot of responsibility.
02:36What did you do yourself?
02:38Gabrielle, that is so unfair.
02:40But Jane was lost for words.
02:42The thing is, Jane, nothing tells me that you are this great business person.
02:47So on that basis, Jane, you're fired.
02:50She became the fourth casualty of the boardroom.
02:54Now 12 remain to fight for the chance to become Lord Sugar's business partner.
03:036.15am.
03:20Good morning.
03:21Good morning, this is Lord Sugar's office.
03:23Lord Sugar would like you to meet him at York Hall in East London.
03:27The cars will be with you in 20 minutes.
03:30OK, thank you very much.
03:31Bye.
03:34The car's coming in 20 minutes.
03:35You've got 20 minutes to get ready.
03:36Where are we going?
03:37What?
03:38Your call?
03:39What is your call, Tom?
03:40It could be a call center.
03:41Your call.
03:42Your call is in Yorkshire, isn't it?
03:45Ah, your call.
03:46Oh, right, OK.
03:48Us girls are disappearing, like, there's no tomorrow.
04:02I'll have to shift some more off.
04:07This time, we're going to smash this and send someone home from Team Phoenix.
04:14Bethnal Green, East London.
04:17York Hall.
04:19Venue for world-class boxing, sport and leisure.
04:26Keeping Cockneys fit for almost 100 years.
04:30And still attracting local heavyweights.
04:33Good morning.
04:34Good morning.
04:35Well, welcome to York Hall.
04:46This is a famous place in the East End of London.
04:50The health and fitness industry is worth a fortune.
04:54But what has become even more popular is the innovation of new fitness trends.
05:01And so, your task this week is to come up with a new fitness program.
05:06And where's the money?
05:08Well, I'll tell you where the money is.
05:09You are going to go and try and license your new fitness trend
05:14to some of the country's leading health club chains.
05:18It's got to grab the public's interest and the fitness industry's investment.
05:24If they like it, they're going to license your class nationally.
05:28The team that makes the most money from sales of the licenses will win.
05:33And in the losing team, one of you will be fired.
05:37So, everything clear?
05:39Yes.
05:40Right, off you go.
05:41Group exercise is a billion-pound industry.
05:48From dance-based zumba and spinning to body pump.
05:57Selling the rights to branded classes can turn movement into money.
06:03Teams have two days to develop new fitness class concepts,
06:06then license the rights to run them.
06:12First job, choose a leader.
06:14Yeah, just to speed this up, guys, obviously,
06:16I do this type of thing day-to-day, actually.
06:18I'm very, very knowledgeable about what the sector is.
06:20I know exactly what's required.
06:21For me, it's a bit of a no-brainer, to be honest.
06:23I think we should just crack on on our VPM.
06:24Has everyone agreed on that?
06:25Yeah.
06:26Perfect stuff.
06:27I'm very much the right man for the job,
06:29given what I do on a day-to-day basis.
06:30I've been in health and fitness quite a few years now.
06:33I mean, the task itself could be a little bit of a banana skin,
06:36because if we don't win,
06:37then my neck's purely and simply on that chopping block,
06:40and I'm aware of that.
06:41Right, guys, project manager straight away.
06:43I'm going to throw my hat straight in the ring.
06:45I want this.
06:46I think this task is ideally suited,
06:47and I think across the group,
06:48everybody's got a slightly different interest
06:50in terms of sports and hobbies,
06:51and I think I can lead this, and we'll win.
06:53Can I just put myself forward being a horse rider?
06:56I'm a horse rider, competing in shore jumping.
06:58I'm quite passionate about being a team leader as well.
07:01Well, I think that looking at who we're actually pitching to,
07:03these major gyms, that's where I work out.
07:05I feel strongly that this is my task.
07:08Shall we vote?
07:09All in favour of Ricky.
07:13Outside of work, I am a professional wrestler.
07:16They call me the fitness.
07:17I've been the heavyweight champion of the wrestling world,
07:19I'll be the heavyweight champion of the business world.
07:21You'll always witness the fitness with Ricky Martin.
07:26It's head-to-head.
07:27Health and fitness insider, Stephen,
07:30facing recruitment manager and Lord of the Ring, Ricky.
07:36We need to look at where the trends lie,
07:37and we need to follow those trends and give them something new.
07:40Martial arts, dance classes, the kind of Zumba classes,
07:43body combat, taking that military element,
07:45the kind of boot camp type element, they're popular at the moment.
07:48I think something like the street dancing
07:50and incorporating something with the kickboxing or something.
07:53Street dance jumps out to everyone, I would agree with that entirely.
07:56It's very popular dance in sports.
07:57I think the martial arts and the street dance combined,
07:59they're all our potential largest markets.
08:01Anybody got a dancing background where they'll know what they're talking about.
08:04I'd be a dancer.
08:07On the other team, a different set of ideas.
08:10I deal with gym membership specifically,
08:12and within every gym that I'm part of,
08:14there's classes in excess of 9 to 100 a week.
08:16In terms of what the fitness centres will be looking for,
08:19they're looking for something completely unique.
08:22My idea is Fit Skip.
08:24Skipping classes.
08:25It's original.
08:26OK, makes sense.
08:27Modes of strap lines and names you could use.
08:28Fit Skip, Hip to Skip.
08:29Got it? Skip.
08:30OK.
08:31Love it.
08:32I've got a couple of ideas,
08:34one of them being some sort of dating class.
08:38Speed dating is really popular at the moment,
08:41and, you know, one of the trends
08:43is actually people meeting someone at the gym.
08:45I don't know how exactly that would work, but...
08:47I'd hate to be all heart and sweaty and talking to someone.
08:50Katie, you have a second idea?
08:52Yeah, I do.
08:53There's kind of a retro theme,
08:54which is all sorts of different equipment you use as a kid.
08:57That's quite cool.
08:58So, if we can develop a class that's very 80s and retro,
09:01we can have a look at what that involves,
09:03something completely unique and different.
09:04Yeah, yeah.
09:05London's West End.
09:09Convinced retro is the way forward,
09:12half of Stephen's team head down to an 80s dance troupe.
09:16Fantastic, that was.
09:18First of all, thanks for your time.
09:30We're looking for a bit of inspiration today.
09:32We're actually going to come up with a new class
09:35that's going to be in gyms.
09:37Are you a member of gyms at the moment?
09:38Yeah.
09:39Do you do classes?
09:40Yeah.
09:41Do you guys use any sort of equipment whatsoever?
09:42Yeah.
09:43Weights.
09:44Right, okay.
09:45Would you girls skip?
09:46Have you skipped?
09:47Yeah.
09:48Yeah?
09:49Yeah?
09:50You'll love it.
09:51Okay.
09:52Do you know any routines at all?
09:53Just get a picture in mind that you could use these,
09:55because in gyms they've got balls very similar to this.
09:57Yes.
09:58Yeah.
09:59Wow.
10:00Did you do some workout, core muscle workout?
10:01Yeah.
10:02Oh, yeah.
10:03You're working your upper body,
10:05you're working everything at the same time.
10:08Take it down to the bum.
10:10That turns up your bum.
10:11Yeah.
10:12Blimey.
10:13So, girls, is there any sort of craze that's hung around,
10:16you know, where you don't want a bubble,
10:17we want something that's good,
10:18we want something with shelf life?
10:19Well, if you're thinking, like, dance moves,
10:20like, Michael Jackson, the thriller moves,
10:22have always been, like, everyone has a go at doing them,
10:24even on the dance floor.
10:25Two.
10:26And then you start the whole thing again.
10:27One.
10:28Two.
10:29Three.
10:30Switch.
10:31Switch.
10:32Switch.
10:33And then, obviously, you can lean a bit more into that.
10:34Yep.
10:35You're going to get that into your lower back,
10:36and your arms.
10:37Switch.
10:38Switch.
10:39And then back.
10:40To finish off with, like, reach to one, reach...
10:41Yeah.
10:42You know, and everyone knows where they're up to now.
10:45Work out taking shape and carting some retro kit,
10:49it's time to go.
10:53So, Stephen, how do you think it went in there?
10:55To be honest, I'm really excited now.
10:57I think we've found something.
11:03London's Docklands.
11:05On the other team, it's ringside for wrestler Ricky and his girls.
11:10We're mixing a kind of a street dance with a mixed martial arts theme together.
11:17And is there, like, a unique move to Thai kickboxing that we...
11:20Because we don't want it to look like boxer size.
11:21It's, like, punch, elbow, this, this, you can do this, this.
11:27I'm really, really excited.
11:29Seeing these mixed martial arts guys has given me some great ideas.
11:33Jab, jab, foot across, elbow.
11:35It's about making sure that it's doing its purpose.
11:37It's getting people fit, it's toning people up.
11:40We can get them dancing, and we couple that in with a few simple moves.
11:43We've got everything.
11:45Out to blend Ricky's martial arts with street dance, the rest of his team.
11:52Anduin.
11:53Gabrielle, nice to meet you, girl.
11:55Nick.
11:56Aw, really smart.
11:58You all are very cool.
11:59Keeping track, technology entrepreneur Nick.
12:02You were showing your grandma how to street dance.
12:05Yeah.
12:06What were the first moves that you'd show her?
12:08I'd probably show her some new jack swings, yeah.
12:10Can you show us those?
12:11This one.
12:14Right, okay.
12:17I don't really know much about street dancing.
12:19The girls are showing us different moves.
12:21I think we've decided that the swing jack style of swing something jack
12:25is probably going to be something that might fit in with our sort of exercise regime
12:29we're going to put together.
12:30After you've danced for a while, what areas of your body kind of ache in terms of like muscle?
12:34Your back.
12:35Back arms.
12:36Your legs.
12:37Back legs.
12:38Your neck.
12:39All over.
12:40Body workout.
12:41Martial arts is a lot more about having discipline, doing things in a certain way.
12:45So I think if we can combine the two, we could come up with something really, really good.
12:48Can I join your group?
12:54Regrouping to merge martial arts with street dance, Ricky and his team.
13:00A lot of it is elbows and knees.
13:02For his boxer's eyes, his punches.
13:04And the key one was this spinning elbow.
13:05So it was jab, jab, step across, elbow behind.
13:08All it needs is a name.
13:10The idea was like beat battle, fight to the music kind of thing.
13:13I quite like beat battle.
13:14Yeah.
13:15Definitely.
13:16Interesting.
13:17Yeah.
13:183pm.
13:19Hi.
13:20Hiya.
13:21Hello.
13:22How are you?
13:23Overseen by fitness expert, Lindsay.
13:24So have you got any fitness experience?
13:25No, dance when I was younger.
13:26Oh, okay.
13:27Time to create beat battle.
13:28You're the king of the dance.
13:29You can...
13:30Yeah, no, no, no.
13:31But you've got to be in the martial arts as well.
13:32Like you can start lower down and then just sort of work your way up.
13:33And then sort of work it up a week.
13:34I think at the moment they've got so many ideas and they're trying to put so many things in there.
13:39Really think about the different parts of your body and warming up every single...
13:40So here?
13:41Yeah.
13:42Uh-huh.
13:43Actually, I thought it was quite a good concept.
13:44Just a subtle, not too much.
13:45Yeah, just a gentle look.
13:46Just hook over your shoulder like that.
13:47You don't want to make it too girly and too dancey.
13:48You don't want to make it too girly and too dancey.
13:49Yeah.
13:50Oh, yeah.
13:51Oh, yeah.
13:52Oh, yeah.
13:53Oh, yeah.
13:54Oh, yeah.
13:55Oh, yeah.
13:56Oh, yeah.
13:57Oh, yeah.
13:58Oh, yeah.
13:59Oh, yeah.
14:00Oh, yeah.
14:01Oh, yeah.
14:02Oh, yeah.
14:03Oh, yeah.
14:04Oh, yeah.
14:05Oh, yeah.
14:06Oh, yeah.
14:07Oh, yeah.
14:09Oh, yeah.
14:10No, yeah.
14:11Oh, yeah.
14:12Oh, yeah.
14:13That's what I mean.
14:14If I had two dancey.
14:15Back at York Hall.
14:16It has to be unique, OK.
14:17So the actual moves are gonna be retro.
14:18The music actually is gonna take you on a journey.
14:20Steven's retro workout shapes up.
14:21I think that what we should do is look at the props that we've got and then we should
14:25assess, right, the hopper works this muscle and this muscle, then the skipping is for
14:27the cardio.
14:29So then we know that every retro thing we've got has worked everything on the body.
14:33Say we pitch to a gym that has, you know, 125 places across the country,
14:38are they going to buy 1,000 space hoppers, you know, 500 skippets?
14:42I think that we should concentrate on maybe using conventional gym stuff
14:45that they've got. That's my personal opinion.
14:48The only way we're going to win this big is to take a risk.
14:52Tom got nervous when the other team was suggesting incorporating
14:55a hopper in a Hulu because where are the gym going to store
14:58all of this equipment or how are they going to afford to buy all of this equipment?
15:02They really have to start thinking about the ideas they're coming up with.
15:05I've got all your input, OK? This is what we're doing. Very simple.
15:08We're going for a retro theme. What about names?
15:11What I thought would be a good idea, guys.
15:13Let me know what you think. It incorporates train and the theme.
15:16Groovetrain. Groovetrain.
15:18Groovetrain, right, the Groovetrain.
15:20Groovetrain.
15:21Helping to keep Groovetrain on the rails...
15:24I'm your fitness consortium to help you today.
15:27Nice to meet you.
15:28..fitness expert Stuart.
15:30We're going for a retro feel to this session. OK.
15:32It's got to be fun, number one. It's got to be intense, number two.
15:35Yeah.
15:36And something that people feel that can go and have a bit of a laugh in.
15:38OK.
15:39Tell me what you're hoping to achieve from it as well.
15:41Well, this I'm trying to work out my cords. I'm also getting my heart rate going.
15:44It's actually quite a lot of fun, as Katie said, to be fair.
15:46So...
15:47The muscles are working. When you're down in this position, then, you know, we're adding the bouncing bits in.
15:50You are actually... It's like a... It's like the middle part of a squat you perform.
15:54While Stephen's half of the team build a retro routine...
15:58What's this called? Give us a name for it.
16:00Hip Groove.
16:01The Swingling.
16:02We should write these down so we don't forget.
16:03Yeah.
16:04The other half plan a video promo to market the concept.
16:09It's just so we're all on the same page. We're doing these five signature moves.
16:12Yeah.
16:1380s feel, you know, we don't want to get away from that.
16:14OK, well, maybe you lead them, cos you know it all. You lead...
16:16I don't know it all. No, no, no.
16:17I'm saying, are we all on the same page?
16:18I'm not being rude, I'm saying, cos you know about the dances, maybe you just lead and we'll kind of just observe.
16:23Yeah, yeah. OK, OK.
16:25Casting himself as choreographer, market trader Adam.
16:29Hey, nice to meet you.
16:30Nice to meet you, Jake.
16:31Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Tom.
16:32Nice to meet you.
16:33We'll be putting together a new fitness regime featuring five signature moves, so I'll very quickly show you them.
16:39So the funky lunge was sort of this movement, OK?
16:43OK, do you want me to do it with you?
16:44Yeah, yeah, brilliant, brilliant, yeah.
16:46Yeah, and then maybe you could step it up by moving your arms as well, that sort of thing.
16:51They weren't really punching out, it was more like that, OK?
16:56I took the lead role in the casting session.
16:58Jade was really creative on.
17:00She wasn't being very creative, so, you know, I took on the creative role there.
17:04The thing we're thinking of is this, you know, with the claws, and then this.
17:09The other two were like, well, if you know it all, you do it.
17:11And it was like, it's not a case of who knows it all, it's we should all know it all.
17:15And then, again, throwing it right back.
17:17Yeah, OK.
17:219pm.
17:23Routines ready.
17:24Tomorrow, both teams must shoot a promotional video.
17:34Morning, everyone.
17:35Morning, everyone.
17:36Nick, Laura and Dwayne, you guys are going to be shooting the film and you're going to be editing it all this afternoon.
17:41As far as the video goes, you've got me as some team manager, haven't you?
17:44Correct, yes.
17:45Only because I've done something like this before.
17:46I think if I'm taking it on, I have to, like, have the final decision in some of the centre in the shots.
17:51I'm more than happy. If you need to make a decision like that, you can make that decision.
17:548am, both teams split.
18:02Half to prepare tomorrow's pitch.
18:08Half to film the video.
18:10Yes!
18:11No, this will work.
18:13Directing Beat Battle, drinks entrepreneur Dwayne.
18:18Every move that you have put together yesterday, if we break them up as small as we can, they'll be easier to learn.
18:23But before filming begins, a change to the script.
18:27I'm thinking, why not simplify it a bit more, because it will be easier to film, it will be easier to navigate.
18:32Before we miss out a certain step, we need to talk to the PM about it.
18:35I don't think it's that big a deal that we need to ring the PM.
18:39Teaching the moves to their on-screen dancers, wedding shop owner Laura.
18:44I think you need a dancey one as well.
18:46I think the bop kick's very dancey with that.
18:48I think, you know, when we talk about the kind of the vision of what the film will look like,
18:52My big concern now is to make sure that we do create a martial art dance routine, not just a dance routine.
18:58And we are in danger of just creating a dance routine.
19:01One, two, three, four.
19:04The 80s nightclub.
19:10Nice to see you again.
19:11You were all obviously very good yesterday.
19:13My pleasure.
19:14Shooting location for Groov Train.
19:17Right.
19:18Congratulations.
19:19Well done for making the cut.
19:20So, loads of energy.
19:21Big smiles.
19:22And let's make a video.
19:24Picked for an on-screen performance, refrigeration entrepreneur, a czar.
19:29A czar, you don't look very happy.
19:31Right?
19:32You don't look very happy.
19:33Those shorts look a bit small to me.
19:35Just a little bit, I think.
19:36It's very easy.
19:37Yeah.
19:38Yeah.
19:39You need to sort these shorts out, seriously.
19:42No, you look really good.
19:45Mate, that was the business.
19:47Appointed to direct, Jade.
19:50We're going to do the introduction with you.
19:52Yeah.
19:53And that's fine.
19:54That's all his own, but with these guys behind him.
19:55Right.
19:56What's your role, Adam?
19:57I'm choreographer.
19:58Right.
19:59Good.
20:00Everyone quiet.
20:01Go.
20:02Do you want to keep fit, but most of all have fun?
20:04Burn up to 300 calories.
20:06The shorts are a little bit tight for my personal liking.
20:09To be honest with you, I wouldn't usually do this in a normal gym, but the product itself
20:13is a niche product.
20:14It is unique.
20:15It's a risk, but it's a risk that could pay off, and obviously it could be financially rewarding.
20:21Can I suggest an idea, basically?
20:23When I say, welcome to the Groove Train, you're fading a spinning ball, maybe?
20:27We'll do that in editing.
20:28I need to be involved in all this conversation, guys, because I'm telling the dancers what
20:32to do.
20:33This is a conversation.
20:34Right, okay.
20:35So that's your introduction?
20:36Yeah, that's your introduction.
20:37Why don't we just let everyone speak?
20:38Yeah, it's there.
20:39Introduction.
20:40That's what it is.
20:41That's what it is.
20:42Everybody quiet, please.
20:43I'm not really sure what Adam's role is today.
20:46It must be hard, because everything is defined as well, but he just keeps telling everyone
20:49to smile when they're doing well.
20:51So dancers, just so you know, nice and relaxed, dead easy, exactly what we did before,
20:55loads of energy.
20:56Quite annoying, really, but let's get on with it.
20:58What a feeling you all know this one can.
21:032pm.
21:04In full swing, the beat battle promo.
21:101, 2, 3, 4.
21:11A DVD would normally have the instructor facing the camera, but you just want to show a class
21:20being top.
21:21As it will be delivered in the class.
21:22Which would be me facing them.
21:23Yeah, okay, thank you.
21:24Yeah?
21:25When you're actually teaching them, once you've done it, they will see me go forward, right?
21:28No.
21:29Do you usually teach them forward?
21:30No, you usually...
21:31Teach them like this.
21:32That's what I'm forward.
21:33Can we agree on that now?
21:34Can we agree on that?
21:35That's not a discussion point.
21:36You said it three times now.
21:37In my experience, these sort of tasks, where cameras are involved, always end up in a squabble.
21:43Like I've tried to explain, that first one is her giving it.
21:46Just keep repeating it, you know what I mean?
21:48And I can begin to see fissures appearing in the closely woven team.
21:54You've just done that from a different angle.
21:55Well, that's what I mean.
21:56I want it from this angle.
21:58Laura?
21:59You want to get on and...
22:00Yeah?
22:01I was just waiting at you.
22:02It's cool, yeah.
22:03Working relationships today started off a little bit icy.
22:07I think Dwayne came with a storyboard and a plan, and he was getting quite frustrated.
22:12Just with myself and Nick having an opinion.
22:15I disagree, but it doesn't mean, as I say, one person leads it.
22:19I'm happy to go with it.
22:20I feel like everything's being questioned, and it's just making it increasingly difficult.
22:24I don't feel like we're working together, if I'm honest.
22:27To be honest with you, I've just taken a step back, and I'll just let him go on with it.
22:31And cut.
22:32Well done, guys.
22:33I believe that's a wrap.
22:34Woo!
22:37North London.
22:38At the office of a fitness DVD company, Beat Battle gets branded.
22:45Hello, Jenna.
22:46Our poster.
22:47We're wanting something quite...
22:49kind of graffiti, like, kind of, you know, quite edgy.
22:52Hey, Steve.
22:54I'm very happy with what we've got here.
22:57Sharp decisions today, guys.
22:59Next job, decide what to charge for rights to their class.
23:03I think we'll just want to know how much it costs, what discount they'll get for the year, and if they book it into more clubs, that's what they'll get.
23:10And rehearse tomorrow's pitch.
23:12Hi, everyone.
23:13My name's Ricky Martin.
23:14I'm here today on behalf of Team Sterling.
23:16We've tasked ourselves with the objective of coming up with a unique fitness regime.
23:21It was really good to get a chance to pretty much roleplay with both the girls as well, to put yourself in that situation, because you can never be too prepared.
23:28We're extremely excited to present this fresh, unique and exciting programme to you.
23:33And we are really...
23:34I'm leading the team.
23:35I think everybody would agree with me that it's a motivated team.
23:38The guys are happy.
23:39There's no falling outs.
23:40There's no bickering.
23:41There's no arguing.
23:42Everybody's really happy.
23:45That was so stressful for me, guys.
23:47It was really, really difficult.
23:48There was a disagreement at every single stage.
23:50Yeah.
23:51I agree.
23:52I thought, I can't even say what I want to say here, because I feel like I'm going to upset you, Laura.
23:55Ditto.
23:56Ditto.
23:57I felt like I couldn't say what I wanted to say, though.
23:58Yeah, but, to be fair, if you wanted to manage the video, put yourself forward for it yesterday.
24:02It was a bit...
24:03Don't turn up with all your ideas now.
24:04No, that's exactly what I'm allowed to do.
24:06It's the same thing happening again.
24:08We have an opinion and you just don't like it.
24:10No, no, no, no, no, it's not that.
24:11It is!
24:12It is!
24:13Dwayne, listen, people have got an opinion, you have to listen to them.
24:15I was made to feel stupid when I was trying to get the first shot.
24:18We need to harden up a bit, mate, then.
24:19No, it's not.
24:20I'm not soft.
24:21What I'm actually getting a bit pissed off about, if I'm quite honest with you, is the
24:24fact that you're trying to make out like I was some sort of disruption today.
24:26You were.
24:27To me, I felt you were disruptions.
24:28Right, well, fine.
24:29There wasn't time for that.
24:30There just wasn't time and it wasn't useful.
24:31Well, fine.
24:32Good.
24:33I'm taking your point on board now.
24:34Thanks very much.
24:36Let's, you know, let's be friends on this, okay?
24:38Yeah.
24:39Shake hands, guys.
24:40I'm all for...
24:41No, let's not force it.
24:42Like, I think...
24:48What should we talk about?
24:55On the other team, nearing the end of its journey...
24:58Burn up to 300 calories, improve stamina and tone muscle.
25:03Groove train.
25:04We're going to have to finish Welcome to the Groove Train as a close-up.
25:10And one unhappy passenger.
25:12I don't understand why it's in and out so quick from the glitter ball.
25:16I believed it was going to pan out.
25:18Do you know what I mean?
25:19Whereas it was like boom, boom.
25:20Have we got any proper slow...
25:22What will...?
25:23Panning out of the glitter ball.
25:24Apparently, Jade's a creative one in the group.
25:26I personally haven't witnessed anything.
25:28All she creates is problems.
25:30Can we have...
25:31Can we just...
25:32Do this first and then see what happens?
25:34Because we can add that pan down to his...
25:35Have we got any panning out of?
25:36She doesn't shout me down.
25:38No-one could do that.
25:39But she just doesn't listen.
25:41I don't know if she's thick or deaf or what it is.
25:44But I'm really struggling to be working with her today.
25:52Next door, the fight for Beat Battle rumbles on.
25:56What's the next part?
25:57So, from as Laura's turned around,
25:58it's almost like she's giving the instructions to warm up.
26:00Yeah?
26:01I feel like you both disagree.
26:03We do, but you know that.
26:06I do feel like I could have just thrown the team off
26:08and done it myself.
26:09At some points, I really wanted to do that.
26:11I just was sick and tired of fighting with them all day.
26:13I wanted to get the result.
26:14OK, and then it would be a logo screen,
26:16which would be Beat Battle.
26:19But we've got a really good video,
26:20and I'm actually happy with it.
26:22Go on, you've got something to say?
26:23No, no.
26:24No, please, I want to hear it.
26:25I don't have anything to say.
26:267am.
26:41Today, both teams must pitch their fitness class concept
26:45to three health club chains.
26:47The team offered the most money for licences to run its class will win.
26:55I really believe that we've got a really good product.
26:57I really believe that we've come up with a really good idea.
27:00The video could be the make or break of however good the product is.
27:03If the video doesn't sell it, it might not work.
27:06First team into top fitness chain Virgin Active, Beat Battle.
27:13Pitching, project manager Ricky.
27:15Good morning.
27:16Thank you very much for your time this morning.
27:17My name is Ricky Martin, and we've come up with a new concept,
27:20a new class called Beat Battle.
27:23Hi, let me introduce you to Beat Battle,
27:25a brand new exercise class combining martial arts and dance.
27:29It's going to help tone and tighten, help with core stability,
27:33weight loss, but most importantly, it's fun.
27:35Let's go.
27:36Five, six, seven, eight.
27:39Beat Battle is a unique combination of dance and mixed martial arts.
27:43Get fit, have fun and burn calories.
27:47Beat Battle, right to the future.
27:51We're extremely excited about this new class.
27:54We feel like it is innovative, we feel like it is fun,
27:57and for us it's about making the product right that works for you
28:00and works with us.
28:01Lastly, I'd like to discuss the pricing.
28:03I never like to discuss that first because, for me,
28:05this is about fitness and it's about fun,
28:07but we've come up with an extremely generous pricing strategy.
28:10It would be, on a monthly basis, £45 per month for the class.
28:15If you wanted to take it on a yearly basis,
28:20we'd offer you an even better deal, which would give you two months three.
28:24You say this product is unique.
28:26Yeah.
28:27Have you had a look at what else is out there?
28:29We did look at a number of classes.
28:30We were looking at things like boxer size.
28:32It's very different to boxer size because there's the dance element
28:35and it involves a lot more of your knees and your elbows
28:37than necessarily just your fists.
28:39Looking at the quick demo, it looks very similar to me.
28:41Thank you very much.
28:42Thank you, Kingston.
28:44Thank you very much.
28:45I think we need to learn from the questions they ask for our next pitches,
28:54things about what the concept is, the idea is.
28:56We could show more moves and show more elbows.
28:58Ricky's a showman, though, isn't he?
28:59He's doing all free.
29:00He loves his wrestling.
29:01I think he's sort of a guy that goes out with a brush.
29:02Hey, guys, you know, I can see him doing that quite well,
29:03but at the end of the day, it's about the product.
29:04And I believe we've got a good product.
29:19First for Stephen and his team, the UK's biggest chain.
29:23Morning.
29:24Good morning.
29:25Fitness First.
29:26We're here today to present to you a fantastic, unique fitness class
29:30that exists nowhere else in your marketplace.
29:32We'll bring the fun back into fitness.
29:34Please allow me to present Groove Train.
29:38Do you want to keep fit but most of all have fun?
29:41Burn up to 300 calories, improve stamina and tone muscle.
29:46This is a top-to-toe retro express workout about to sweep the nation.
29:52Welcome to the Groove Train.
29:54The dance floor entrance.
29:56Working the shoulders, back and hamstring.
30:00The Hula Hoop.
30:01Working the core abdominal area.
30:06The Groove Press.
30:08Working the chest, buys and tries.
30:10The Groove Train.
30:12Working that core abdominal area.
30:14Top-to-toe express in only 30 minutes.
30:20It looks like you had loads of fun making that video.
30:24So, do you want to talk about the package?
30:28Now, obviously this is a new workout class.
30:30I mean, we're all very excited about it and hopefully you guys are too.
30:33So, we've priced it accordingly, £35 per club on a monthly basis.
30:38Obviously, we're aware that, you know, yourselves have around 143 clubs here in the UK.
30:43The pro rata cost, if you wanted to take it nationwide, would be about £15,000.
30:48But again, obviously wanting to work with you guys, we would reduce that cost to £13,500.
30:54Bearing in mind, we've got hula hoops there and space hoppers.
30:59What does that do to your studio capacity?
31:02You would lose probably eight people in that class, if that was the case.
31:04Eight people.
31:05But we can run very, very successful 30-minute functional classes with 30 people and no kit.
31:11Would every participant need a space hopper?
31:14As part of the licence agreement, you would be supplied with the space hoppers, the skipping ropes.
31:19Where would we keep them all?
31:21The lady on the right scared the life out of me.
31:26I think the main concerns, from their point of view, was space in terms of the balls.
31:30But there are many gyms with Swiss balls, which are very similar to the space hopper, without years, basically.
31:35No problem.
31:40Next, for Ricky's team, a fast-expanding, low-cost fitness chain.
31:47Good afternoon. Thank you very much for your time with meeting Russ today.
31:50But this time, it's live.
31:53So we're going to demonstrate one of the routines with our presenter in the video, Laura.
32:00You don't need to be an expert at dancing or martial arts.
32:03I personally wouldn't just go to a martial arts class or anything like that.
32:08So to be able to incorporate into a dance class, it's offering just something a little bit different.
32:11We do have another volunteer here, Dwayne.
32:15So I'm going to demonstrate the super punch.
32:18Oh, sorry, I got that wrong.
32:20All right, so let's...
32:22And as he holds it, he would tuck in all of his core area here to keep it tight and to keep its strength.
32:29The idea's enough for you, aren't there?
32:30I know you're struggling there.
32:32The idea of that move is to keep it as true to the mixed martial arts.
32:36I do think it will appeal to a much wider audience in our market.
32:41I thought it went awesome. It went really well.
32:44I don't know.
32:45I keep on asking this question about stock and it's doing my head in because you're definitely not talking more than 20 pound a club.
32:522,000 space hoppers made out of rubber.
32:57Next to pitch, Stephen's team.
33:01How much does all that kick come to you for one person?
33:04So one hula hoop, one skipper rope, one hopper, how much would it cost?
33:07Yeah, in terms of costings, the space hopper, our cost price would be £2.
33:13The hoop itself would be £1 and the skipping rope would be 50p.
33:17They've got themselves in a real mess over this offer of free equipment.
33:22Firstly, the gyms cannot understand how this works in their business model.
33:26And now they're pulling prices literally out of the air.
33:31The last hit for Beat Battle.
33:34Beat Battle. Right to the future.
33:37Thank you very much for watching.
33:39Do you think there's a big enough differentiator between typical dance class?
33:42I think at the moment you've got your options of either going to a dance class or going to a combat class.
33:47Personally, I look at the both and I really wouldn't know what to choose.
33:49I think this would be your kind of... you'd be in the middle.
33:51I mean, if we look at the markets, the martial arts industry in the last 12 months
33:55has gone from 28% to 39% of people signing up.
33:58The dance in the last two years has increased by 103%.
34:01So people wanting to get into these markets, the demand is there
34:04and I think it would complement what you've already got.
34:06Thanks, sir. Such a good answer, by the way.
34:08I don't think we really use the props at all in your pitch.
34:16I just think we've got the props, let's use them.
34:18Would you even maybe have you sitting on the walls?
34:20Let's not go too far.
34:22Still sporting their retro kit.
34:28OK, with the hoop you're going round.
34:30Not as easy as it looks, excuse me.
34:32Last stop for Groove Train.
34:35OK, OK, if you want to throw in Saturday Night Fever, you can,
34:38and they absolutely love it, so there's a fun element to that.
34:41All props that you see before you today will be included within the licence,
34:45so your clubs will be supplied with the balls, the hoops and the skipping ropes.
34:50In terms of our target market, but specifically we're targeting towards
34:53a female market of all ages and ability levels.
34:56Is this not really a kids' class that you're trying to dress up as an adult class?
35:01In terms of its practicality with children, it would 100% work.
35:06You know, as soon as I got on a hopper, I was like, this is great fun.
35:09It breaks, you know...
35:11Poor boundaries.
35:12Yeah, absolutely.
35:15Fast footwork over.
35:19Figures to Lord Sugar.
35:23Next workout...
35:26The boardroom.
35:39You can go through to the boardroom now.
36:00Good afternoon.
36:01Good afternoon.
36:02Good afternoon.
36:03Right, well, the point of this is, there's a lot of money to be made in the licensing to these fitness centres.
36:1260-odd million pounds one company makes in licensing alone.
36:16The whole thrust of the exercise was to come up with something special.
36:21A new trend of some kind, yeah?
36:24So I think we'll start off with Sterling.
36:28Ricky, you were the project manager, yeah?
36:30Yes, I was Lord Sugar.
36:31We quickly came up with the concept of mixing two popular trends, which is mixing mixed martial arts with dance.
36:39So you had two completely different types of...
36:41Which was the idea, there's concepts on the marketplace where you can do dance or combat in the gym, but to mix the two together is quite a unique concept.
36:48So you ended up with something like a punch-up in the disco, then?
36:53Probably a nicer way to put it, but yeah, along those lines.
36:56Who kind of crafted the video?
36:58The video, actually, Dwayne quite gladly put himself forward.
37:01Do you know anything about making videos?
37:04Yeah, I've put together a promotional video myself for an idea that I had a couple of years back.
37:09Directed it all right, Laura?
37:11Yeah, in the end we ended up with something which...
37:13Did you have any input into the production of the video?
37:16Erm, but Dwayne kind of took the lead on on the directing of the video.
37:19There was a bit of confusion, wasn't there?
37:21Do you think Dwayne might have lost his way slightly?
37:23Erm, well, we just wanted to bring our ideas to the table as well, so the time constraint...
37:26Dwayne's in charge of making the video?
37:28Dwayne.
37:29Dwayne.
37:30Let's have a look at this video.
37:32Hi, let me introduce you to Beat Battle, a brand new exercise class combining martial arts and dance.
37:38It's going to help tone and tighten, help with courseability, weight loss, but most importantly, it's fun.
37:44Let's go!
37:46Five, six, seven, eight.
37:48Beat Battle is a unique combination of dance and mixed martial arts.
37:52Get fit, have fun and burn calories.
37:55Bar for endurance.
37:57Scissor kick will help with weight loss and flexibility.
38:01Double punch for lean muscle.
38:04Or to help with your posture, the super punch.
38:08And most importantly, have fun.
38:10Beat battle.
38:11Fight to the beat.
38:12Good.
38:13And then, er, I gave you three fitness centres to pitch to and who was doing, who did the main pitch?
38:22I led all three pitches.
38:23I led all three pitches, Lord Sugar.
38:24Do a good job?
38:25Yeah.
38:26Yeah.
38:27Okay.
38:28How do you think you did?
38:29We got some very good buy-in signals, I thought, particularly from the Fitness First chain and also from Pure Gym.
38:35All right.
38:36Okay.
38:37All right.
38:38Phoenix, who was the team leader?
38:39That was myself, Lord Sugar.
38:40And if I remember rightly, you're in this business.
38:42Yeah.
38:43Well, I've often said in this boardroom that, you know, the team leader should be the person that actually comes from it.
38:49I mean, who's better to lead you than somebody who knows about it?
38:51So, how'd you get on?
38:52Well, we came up with retro as an overall trend or overall theme.
38:56The idea being that we actually know pretty much all there is to know in regards to martial arts and dance,
39:02because they're out there at the moment, but try and get a completely alternative view.
39:05All right.
39:06Who was the kind of choreographer of it then?
39:09I was myself.
39:10No, no.
39:11In terms of the sequence.
39:12Oh, sorry.
39:13Sorry.
39:14I thought I was fast-forwarding then.
39:15I was at the photo-day video shoot then.
39:17Sorry, Lord Sugar.
39:18Right.
39:19So, who actually crafted the moves and all that stuff?
39:22I crafted...
39:23Well, we worked together.
39:24I did all the extra to ensure the exercises were right.
39:26So, who was the director of the video?
39:27I was the director.
39:28And what was you...
39:29You were just getting a bit excited then.
39:31What was your participation?
39:33I was a choreographer, Lord Sugar.
39:36And frustrated director, I think.
39:38Yeah, we had a few ups and downs, but we got there in the end.
39:42We must have a look at it, shall we?
39:46Do you want to keep fit, but most of all have fun?
39:48Burn up to 300 calories, improve stamina and torn muscle.
39:53This is a top-to-toe retro express workout about to sweep the nation.
39:59Welcome to the Groove Train.
40:01The dance floor entrance.
40:03Working the shoulders, back and hamstring.
40:09Adam abs.
40:10Working the abdominal area.
40:15The hula hoop.
40:16Working the core abdominal area.
40:18The funky squat.
40:19Let's work those hamstrings.
40:21The groove train.
40:22Working that core abdominal area.
40:23The funky squat.
40:24Let's work those hamstrings.
40:25The groove train.
40:26Working that core abdominal area.
40:27So, if you're looking to keep fit, have fun, or lose weight, it's time to get on the
40:41groove train.
40:42The top-to-toe express workout in only 30 minutes.
40:47Right.
40:48Am I missing the point here?
40:49Is that in, then, at this moment?
40:51It is very much in, Lord Sugar, at the moment.
40:54Okay.
40:55Who'd done the pitches to the three companies?
40:57That was myself, Lord Sugar.
40:59I heard from Karen that you made some offers which didn't stack up from a financial point
41:04of view.
41:05Yes, as part of the licensing agreement, they would obviously initially require the equipment,
41:11as an example, the space hoppers, the skipping rope and the hoop.
41:14Who's going to supply that?
41:15We would supply that as part of the licensing agreement.
41:17Do you know how much these hoops cost and all the other things cost, do you?
41:20You plucked out of the air figures.
41:22Space hoppers were £2, skipping ropes were 50p, and hula hoops were £1.
41:27I did ask you all to come up with some regime that loses pounds.
41:31I didn't expect it to be my pounds.
41:33If you charge someone, I don't know, £100 for a licence, and those things, for example,
41:38cost £150, then it's a flawed business model, is it not?
41:45There was a healthy profit.
41:46If we were to sell the annual licences, there was a very healthy profit.
41:51All right, well, shall we see how we got on with these three people?
41:58Nick, Team Sterling with Fitness first.
42:02Right, well, they didn't want to licence it.
42:05But they did see the potential, and interestingly, prepared to pay a one-off fee to develop the product
42:14with you.
42:18How much?
42:19£5,000?
42:23Karen, the same people.
42:25Hated it.
42:26OK.
42:27No orders.
42:30Um, Nick, on the, um, Pure Gym.
42:34Well, now, they were prepared to take, er, licences at £45 per month,
42:40but only on a three-month trial basis across all 22 clubs.
42:45So that, er, gave, er, you sales of £2,970.
42:51And the same people, Karen, for Phoenix?
42:53Didn't like it.
42:54No orders.
42:58Um, and now, er, Nick, for you on Virgin.
43:01Virgin.
43:03That's a zero.
43:07And, er, Karen, Phoenix, for Virgin.
43:10Didn't like it.
43:11Um, well, didn't like it for the target market that you, er, were offering at.
43:16Um, but did like it for the family market.
43:20With the space hopper and the hula hoops, mum can go with child,
43:23and that really fits in with their family themes.
43:26Um, so, er, they've offered £17.50 a month for a licence for a six-month trial
43:34across 122 clubs, making a total licence, er, order of £12,810.
43:43Oh.
43:46Right.
43:48Well, whichever way you look at it, £12,810 is playing...
43:54..7,970.
43:58So, Team Phoenix, you seem to have, er, pulled it off.
44:03I think you was lucky that you had someone who was in the business.
44:06Er, I'm not so sure you were so lucky with the choreographer, but, er...
44:09But that's another story.
44:12Right.
44:13You're off to an exclusive London spa,
44:16where you're going to enjoy yourself with massages and various treatments.
44:21All right, have a good time.
44:23Well, go off now, and I'll see you back here shortly, and we'll discuss it in a little more detail, OK?
44:39OK.
44:41Wow, look at this, guys.
44:42Look at this.
44:43This is not bad, is it?
44:44Lovely.
44:45So, you get a full winner of this half, eh?
44:47This is her life, innit?
44:49Yeah, it is to this.
44:50Yeah.
44:51It came off, you know.
44:52We're at the health spa, there in the ballroom, so...
44:56Another win for Team Phoenix.
44:57Leading the team to a victory in my industry feels absolutely fantastic.
44:58It was quite a stressful ballroom, but now, amazing.
44:59If there was ever a taste of success, this was it.
45:00What do you reckon, Steve?
45:01What do you reckon, Steve?
45:02What do you reckon, Steve?
45:03Yeah, it is to this.
45:04Yeah.
45:05It came off, you know.
45:06We're at the health spa, there in the ballroom, so...
45:09Another win for Team Phoenix.
45:11Leading the team to a victory in my industry feels absolutely fantastic.
45:14It was quite a stressful ballroom, but now, amazing.
45:17If there was ever a taste of success, this was it.
45:20What do you reckon, Steve?
45:32I'm shocked. I'm absolutely shocked.
45:42Disappointed.
45:44The way I see it at the moment from the feedback we've got,
45:46is that everything they saw, some parts of it,
45:48they didn't think were professional enough
45:49or they thought needed further development.
45:51We need to face the fact that the product wasn't good enough.
45:53Unfortunately for Ricky, the buck might stop with him.
45:56It'll be a really hard decision if that is it,
45:58because he's managed the team very, very well
46:00and he's, you know, I was impressed with him.
46:04I think we'll have to wait till we get back in there
46:05to find out where the problem actually lies.
46:07I'm so gutted.
46:08I'm really, really gutted.
46:11I think we've been cheated, if I'm honest.
46:13It's not going to be nice in the boardroom now,
46:15because normally there's an out-and-out person
46:17that can take responsibility.
46:18I think, yes, there was difficulties with getting some shots
46:21from the video, but the video wasn't what failed the task.
46:23It was good.
46:24I feel that it's just tough.
46:26I'm going to stand by the fact I don't think it went wrong.
46:28It did, though.
46:29I mean, we did it.
46:30We did lose.
46:45Could you turn the candidates in, please?
46:47Yes, Roger.
46:48The headline here is that everyone says,
46:52yes, a good idea, but not executed properly.
46:56They said watered down with dance.
46:57So it looks pretty samey that things are on the market.
47:01Ricky, you, Jenna and Laura developed the routine.
47:02Yeah.
47:03We did, yes.
47:04We did, yes.
47:05So if you had this idea of the martial arts in there, surely they would have
47:06the idea of the martial arts in there.
47:07Yeah.
47:08Part and parcel of developing the routine.
47:09Yeah.
47:10You would have actually, you know, put your hallmark on it and said, I want to see what
47:11it is.
47:12Yeah.
47:13a bit more martial arts in there.
47:14Yeah.
47:15All of the sequences had martial arts elements to them.
47:16They were very, very clear.
47:17So the way they looked at the dance, the way they looked at the dance, the way they were
47:18the samey.
47:19You would have the samey, the samey.
47:20Yeah.
47:21So it looks pretty samey that things are on the market.
47:22Ricky, you, Jenna and Laura.
47:26Yeah.
47:27Developed the routine.
47:28We did, yes.
47:29So if you had this idea of the martial arts in there, surely part and parcel of developing
47:35the routine, you would have actually, you know, put your hallmark on it and said,
47:39I want to see a bit more martial arts in it.
47:42All of the sequences had martial arts elements to them.
47:44They were very, very clear.
47:45So where the dilution is gone is when they went on the video, all we saw is dancing.
47:49We didn't see a lot of knees.
47:50We didn't see the elbows and the combat element was missed in the videoing.
47:55And I'd have to look at the responsibility there to be with yourself because you did take
47:58the sequences into that room and you did push them through.
48:01And it was clear in the sequencing element, you were biased more towards the dance.
48:04Ricky, I don't, no, I don't agree.
48:06We very much wanted to combine dance and martial art.
48:09Yeah.
48:10And yes, it was agreed that dance would feature.
48:11What I'm saying is the dance did feature, but didn't show beat battle.
48:14I'm going to be totally honest here.
48:16Nor do I think you did a fabulous job, Laura.
48:18I'm not liking the way this is going, to be honest with you at all, because...
48:21Let's see where it goes and see if you might prefer.
48:23I can't finish speaking first.
48:25Because, and you can't deny this, Laura, I did say, you know, I think we should throw
48:30some more different kicks and stuff in.
48:32Laura obviously felt like more dance moves should go in.
48:34No, I didn't.
48:35No, let me finish.
48:36Each sequence had...
48:37I'm not going to go at you, because if you let me finish...
48:38It sounds like you are, to be honest with you.
48:40See, the thing is, your video was your shop window.
48:44Yeah.
48:45That was your selling tool.
48:46Okay.
48:47And that's where the negative comments have come from.
48:49Yeah.
48:50Dwayne, you were responsible for producing the video.
48:53Absolutely, definitely, Laura.
48:54I did take lead on the video.
48:56I think, in fairness to the video, I think the video did show all set of moves.
48:59All the range of the moves.
49:00It absolutely did.
49:01It showed them in equal context, and everything that was featured was...
49:04So why didn't that burn?
49:05Guys, you're missing the point.
49:06It showed all of the moves.
49:07The moves are right, but it cut out some of the key bits of the combat element.
49:11And that's why the people...
49:12How are you putting it down to the editing, then, Laura?
49:14I'm putting it down to the video and in the editing, that's correct.
49:16The video and the editing.
49:17Can I ask you a question?
49:18Yes.
49:19When you compare your video to Phoenix's video, don't you think your video looks a bit dull?
49:23I also think the other one looks very cheesy, and it wouldn't attract me.
49:26I'd be much more inclined, personally, to go to the one that we presented.
49:29But I think you're missing the point.
49:31It might have been a bit cheesy.
49:32Yeah.
49:33And that's why they bought it.
49:34Yeah.
49:35Can I just go over the pricing?
49:37A lot of comments from these people here was that it was a bit expensive.
49:43Okay.
49:44I'll take responsibility for the price, and I was part of that team.
49:47Do you know what these other people did, really?
49:50I would be keen to hear a little bit more from Nick.
49:52I did some of the editing.
49:54We had quite a few riffs in the group on that day.
49:57I think I brought the team together on, you know, quite well.
49:59Well, look, listen, Ricky, you have to make a decision as to which two people you're going
50:05to bring back in this boardroom.
50:07Yeah.
50:08I'm looking to bring back Duane with me for the downfall of the video and the editing,
50:12and I'm looking to bring back Laura with me as well for the dilution of the combat.
50:15Mm-hmm.
50:16The other three of you go back to the house, yeah?
50:18Okay.
50:19I'm going to have a chat with Nick in particular because he was with you all the time.
50:34So just step outside for a while, and I'll call you back in shortly.
50:39Thank you, Lerchegar.
50:41Do you think the pricing was the killer?
50:46No, I don't think the pricing was the issue because if they loved the product and didn't
50:50like the pricing, they'd negotiate it down, simple as that.
50:53Mm.
50:54The unanimous sort of reaction of the health clubs to Ricky's pitch was that he was good.
51:01They just didn't much care for the video.
51:04And then, you know, Duane, um, is it his responsibility for the poor editing?
51:09Is it Laura?
51:10It would be true to say that Laura delivered the moves.
51:14But on the other hand, Duane directed them.
51:17Mm.
51:18Yes, will you send through of a minute, please?
51:23Yes, Lerchegar.
51:32Well, Ricky, I have to, um, say, the people that actually contributed the most are the ones
51:39that you have chosen to bring in, and it may be the ones that did the least get away with it.
51:46Yes.
51:47Wait, yes?
51:48I think the observation is correct, but I have to consider if the job was done correctly.
51:53Perhaps you can tell me, then, why you brought Laura back in here.
51:56OK, I brought Laura back in here because, listening to the feedback, Laura's element was focused more
52:01on the dance and less on the combat, and I was very clear to say that it's not a dance video.
52:05We do need the combat elements, and, unfortunately, what was executed was more dance.
52:08OK, OK, OK.
52:09And, Laura, did you do every single sequence that you were asked to do?
52:13Yes.
52:14No, Lerchegar, this is risky, but Laura shouldn't be here. She came and delivered, she contributed.
52:18But you must see, she was the person who brought the sequence in across to you.
52:21No, no, no.
52:22And she was responsible for ensuring the message was clear.
52:23No, you were responsible for making sure the message was clear.
52:24No, you were responsible for making sure the message was clear.
52:27If you didn't like the moves that were featured in the video, you should have said in the beginning, Ricky.
52:30No, the moves weren't displayed adequately, they were named incorrectly, and they weren't edited right.
52:33So, the reason I brought Laura in with me, the reason I brought Laura in with me is because the message which we put together in the creation did not come apparent when the video was completed.
52:42It was your message. It was your message, Ricky.
52:44It was your message, Ricky.
52:45Brian, Brian, Brian, if it's not Laura, who do you think?
52:49It's Ricky. I think Ricky is ultimately responsible for the failings of this time.
52:52But don't you think the shop window, which was the video, was something that you, you know, claimed that you was in charge of? You were the director?
52:59Yes, I was completely responsible for that. There were three people with three different opinions, and we were all going in different directions.
53:04You said you directed and edited a fitness video previously, so I delegated responsibility in the correct places.
53:10What I'm saying that you're doing is trying to avoid our responsibility, Ricky.
53:13You're trying to pass the buck.
53:15I'm having to think now, even we're five weeks into the process, of people that have the aptitude for what I'm looking for.
53:22So why do you think I should consider you?
53:25Because, Lord Sugarman, I know that I am rough, but I do believe there's a lot of potential there to be moulded and very creative.
53:31I've gone out, I've proved myself and I've created and launched products before.
53:34What I'm hoping to do is take this opportunity to become something and be the best.
53:38I want to be the next big thing.
53:40Who do you think should be fired for the failure of this task?
53:42I think it should be the project manager, Lord Sugar.
53:44He's hid away for the first few weeks. He hasn't done anything.
53:47I do take responsibility for the video. I'm not going to try and shy away from that late in the stage.
53:52I don't think he's hidden away for the first... Why do you say that?
53:54Because I don't believe he took responsibility.
53:56What I feel, Duane, is you're doing what you always do. You're getting emotionally involved in your passion.
54:00You have emotional character. I have.
54:02I didn't take responsibility.
54:03I've taken responsibility for delegating a task to you which you failed on.
54:06And in fact, the man who said he could do the job, under-delivered.
54:10Like Lord Sugar said, at least we put ourselves forward.
54:12If you were so concerned about the message being diluted and what you wanted there, you should have gone to the editing.
54:18Ricky, can you tell me why you shouldn't be fired?
54:22I shouldn't be fired because I did look at everybody's skill sets. I did delegate them in the right places.
54:27You're only as good as your weakest team member. People didn't deliver.
54:30And I honestly believe, with the materials I had in place to lead the three pitches this morning,
54:34that if I wasn't leading that, we wouldn't have even got the orders that we did get.
54:37The feedback for the pitches were quite good. The people thought they were quite good.
54:40So who should be fired today?
54:42I would say Dwayne should be fired today for failing on the video and the editing.
54:46And Dwayne?
54:47I think it should be the project manager, Lord Sugar.
54:49Do you know what? I think we have gone as far as we can go in this.
54:55So I'm going to summarise, and in summarising, I don't want any interference down.
55:00I'm going to give you as I see it, OK?
55:03Laura, this is the second time for you in the final three.
55:08And last week, it was very touch and go.
55:11Yes.
55:12And I did say, I will be keeping my eyes closely upon you.
55:16Yes, I understand that.
55:17OK?
55:18But I can't really understand what Ricky's brought you back in here for.
55:21I can't understand it either.
55:22So what I'm going to say to you, Laura, is you survive again.
55:25Thank you, Lord Sugar.
55:26OK?
55:27Ricky, I think you brought the wrong people back in here.
55:32I think it's a big lesson that I've learnt from doing so.
55:35Yeah, it's a lesson you've learnt.
55:37And that's a bad management move, that is.
55:40It's a very, very bad management move.
55:42OK.
55:43Dwayne, you put yourself forward to produce the video.
55:50I personally believe that the video was the main cause of the failure of this task.
55:56And therefore, Dwayne, you're fired.
56:01Thank you, Lord Sugar.
56:02Thank you, Karen.
56:03Thank you, Nick.
56:04Take care.
56:05See you.
56:06You've got Nick and Karen to thank for you staying here today, Ricky.
56:20Thank you very much.
56:21Because they've kind of given me reasonable reports on your performance to date.
56:28Because if it was solely on today's task, I've got to tell you, you were very close to leaving also.
56:34All right?
56:35My eyes are still on you.
56:36I know.
56:37Thank you, Lord.
56:38Thank you very much for the feedback.
56:39I'm home.
57:04that's not going to take away from me i've got a lot to give a lot to prove and i'm going to
57:07go out there and do that i'm hoping that you've not seen the best of me yet
57:16i mean dwayne 100 was the right person to go on this task i wasn't worried good
57:24it could have been any single one of us going in that boardroom and it's really really hard
57:28and ricky was actually a good pm like he did manage the team well i don't think we can really
57:32deserve to get fired lord sugar knows who i am he knows what i've got to anyone who hasn't been
57:48that bottom three i'll tell you he might not know you that well so you need to make sure if you get
57:51there you stamp your authority on it in the fight for lord sugar's quarter million pound investment

58:38so a taxi for dwayne see what he really thinks about being fired he goes into combat on bbc 2 now
