Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Yet more wet weather moves in overnight and pushes southwards as it weakens.
00:09Let me take you through the bigger picture.
00:11High pressure hangs on across southern counties, however you can see this system coming in here.
00:16Winds pick up, rain could be heavy in places particularly across more northern and western areas with showers to follow
00:22as we see more cloud just arrive towards the southeast through the latter part of the day.
00:26Then into Friday, cloud and rain and winds skirt more northern and western areas fine towards the south there
00:33and that's where we hang on to the brighter weather as we head through into the weekend.
00:37For the time being it's pleasant outside across much of England and Wales, central and eastern areas of Scotland
00:41but further west that cloud picking up as the rain slowly moves in and those winds are strengthened.
00:48Some heavy pulses likely into the night as it pushes towards eastern Scotland,
00:52arrives across northern England, northern and western parts of Wales
00:55and some showery bursts extend towards Lincolnshire as well as east Yorkshire.
01:00Showers following from the west and temperatures holding up, much milder night than last night.
01:05But it will be a windy one to start the day on Thursday.
01:08So strong blustery winds associated with this weather front.
01:11Showers continue through the day as this weather front stalls a little bit.
01:15It's trying to extend towards more southern and eastern areas and after a bright start you'll see more cloud through the afternoon.
01:22The rain becomes fairly sporadic and patchy so some drier in Toulouse despite the fact there will be a lot of cloud through the afternoon
01:28anywhere from the Midlands down towards the west country south eastwards.
01:32Scattered showers, the sunshine to follow and that wind continues towards the north as well as the west of Scotland.
01:39So not a bad afternoon for most of the country if you can escape those showers and they will become few and far between
01:46as we head through the afternoon and into evening time.
01:49Temperatures then 20 or 21 will be your high across northern Ireland and Scotland, 21 to 24 across England and Wales.
01:56Here's that weather front. It's mostly cloud through Thursday evening. It will clear.
02:02And then some drier skies although showers will persist across northern and western areas of Scotland.
02:07And this weather front here will bring with it stronger winds and outbreaks of rain to central and northern areas of Scotland on Friday.
02:15Anywhere from the central and southwards you should see some fine weather.
02:18A few showers clipping the far north and west of Northern Ireland.
02:22Brighter skies elsewhere, a mix of clouds and sunshine.
02:25And a lighter breeze towards the south east where temperatures could reach around 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.
02:32Elsewhere we'll see the high teens feeling fresh in the wind across western and northern Scotland.
02:38But in shelter for northern Ireland, southeastern parts of Scotland coming in around 20, even 21 degrees Celsius.
02:45Now on Friday evening you can see where that warm front is bringing some milder air from the southwest.
02:51And that rain continues.
02:52Caithness, northwest Highlands, the Outer Hebrides as well as Orkney eventually Shetland.
02:57Into Saturday morning, some clearer skies to start the day.
03:02Anywhere from central and eastern areas of Northern Ireland as well as southern parts of Scotland, much of England and Wales.
03:08A bit of cloud floating along the sky.
03:11And then as we head into the day, as the sun rises, it will be a fine start.
03:15Sunny spells.
03:16The rain continues across more northern and western areas.
03:19A strong wind here.
03:21So a wet and windy day across these parts.
03:25Elsewhere, sunny spells.
03:27It's going to be a pleasant day to be out and about.
03:29Still breezy across Irish sea coasts up towards northern England, southern Scotland and Northern Ireland.
03:34But a lighter breeze anywhere from Yorkshire down towards the middle part of Wales, southeast England.
03:41And here are your temperatures through the afternoon.
03:4320 to 26 degrees Celsius.
03:45Fresher though across more northern and western areas.
