00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:05You're going to be creating a prom look using duct tape.
00:10The circle, it has so much volume.
00:12There's only room for one cook in this kitchen, and that's me.
00:15Get this ready.
00:16She always seems like he's doing the legwork for her.
00:19Oh my gosh, you look so cute!
00:22High school students are going to vote on your design.
00:25Do you think you should have left this off?
00:27Oh my God, all my high school anxiety is coming back!
00:35If this was the winning dress, who would deserve this win here?
00:38I would definitely give it to Michelle. She's amazing.
00:41You are the winning team.
00:42Yes!
00:44Michelle, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:49God, you guys. La mariachi prom here.
00:52She looks like she's made out of tin.
00:55I have to say I didn't respond to this dress at all.
00:58Long is so old-fashioned.
01:01I don't get enough fantasy here.
01:03Two, you're out.
01:06Kate, I'm sorry you're also out.
01:10This is Project Runway.
01:12Team's edition.
01:13The winner of Project Runway will receive $50,000 in technology and office space from HP and Intel to bring their creativity to life and run their business.
01:21The fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.
01:24The 2013 Lexus GS.
01:26$100,000 from Laurel Paris to start their own line.
01:30And the chance to design and sell an exclusive collection at Lord & Taylor.
01:34And the model paired with the winner of Project Runway will win a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and $25,000 from Laurel Paris Advanced Hair Care.
01:44Here we are.
01:48Here we are.
01:53Hi, designers.
01:54Hi.
01:55You probably figured it out that you're back here on the runway tonight for a reason.
01:59It's time to switch up the team selection process.
02:04It's our eighth challenge.
02:06The judges know your points of view.
02:08They know your skill sets.
02:09You've shown them who you are as designers.
02:12So now we, the judges, decide who you're going to work with.
02:19And you'll be working in two teams of four.
02:22Yes.
02:23Who do we like to see work with who?
02:25Let's start with Patricia.
02:28I'd like to see her techniques balanced with Daniel's construction strengths.
02:34Daniel and Patricia, we would like to see the two of you work together.
02:38Let's do it.
02:39Let's do it.
02:40Richard is talented, but his taste can be questionable.
02:44So he needs a little bit of a young, hip vibe.
02:47Richard.
02:51And Liana, we would like to see the two of you work together.
02:55I think Michelle will have a little bit of a cool vibe.
02:58She's going to challenge the design.
03:00Michelle, we would like to see you with Patricia and Daniel.
03:05All right.
03:06Hey, guys.
03:07I think Samantha is going to add a current fashion element.
03:12I think she has a very strong opinion.
03:14And I think it's going to be a big wake up call for her whole group.
03:18Samantha, I would like to see you with Liana and Richard.
03:22I want to see Stanley in a context where he's going to have to really stay strong to all these creative forces.
03:30Yeah.
03:31Stanley, I would like to see you on this team here.
03:41Amanda, this week she was very good.
03:43Last week she was very bad.
03:45Wallflower.
03:46And Amanda, I would like to see you over here with these designers.
03:49Okay, it's time to have some fun!
03:52This next challenge, let's just say, is probably one of my favorite ones of the season.
03:57You know, sometimes around here we like to have some fun and loosen up the color a little bit.
04:02And for this next challenge, that statement, Heidi, is an understatement.
04:07So designers, tomorrow we're taking a field trip.
04:12Can I please come with you?
04:14I have been told that under no circumstances may you come with us because we have absolutely no degree of self-discipline.
04:22Yes.
04:23Fine.
04:24I will not go.
04:25As Heidi promised, this challenge is all about having some fun and letting go a little bit.
04:41So with that in mind, here are your new clients.
04:46I'm so excited.
04:47I'm so excited.
04:52Oh, no!
04:54Oh, no!
04:55Oh, no!
05:13Oh, no!
05:14Oh, my gosh, my poor mother is going to watch this.
05:40Oh, no wonder Heidi wanted to be here.
05:46Naughty girl.
05:47That was a lot to handle for 10 AM.
05:52Designers, I'm delighted to introduce you to Alex from Thunder From Down Under.
05:56So let me first start by telling you guys a little bit about us.
05:59We all actually are 100% Australian.
06:01It's no gimmick.
06:02And we actually recently won the best male review on the Las Vegas trip.
06:05So that was pretty cool.
06:06Fantastic.
06:07So, designers, Thunder From Down Under needs you.
06:13We need a new opening costume for our new opening routine.
06:16So we need something that's new and hip.
06:18But the most important thing is there has to be a tearaway element to it.
06:22We need to remove our clothes very quickly.
06:28One of the elements must be a suit.
06:30The looks need to be suave, sophisticated and masculine, but overall flexible and sturdy.
06:34Each team of four will be creating three full looks.
06:39And these looks have to have cohesion within the team.
06:45So designers, the performers from Thunder From Down Under are your clients and your models.
06:52You're going to have 30 minutes to consult with your clients and caucus among yourselves as a team and sketch.
06:59Then we're going shopping at Mood where each team will have a budget of $750.
07:04Wow.
07:05One day is crazy.
07:06Almost impossible.
07:07This is the scariest challenge we've had yet.
07:08I don't know the male beefcake body very well.
07:11My husband's a beefcake, but in a normal man way, and not a 40 bazillion inch chest and 32 inch waist kind of way.
07:16Designers, your consultation and sketch time begins now.
07:18Alex mentioned a business suit, and I thought about what if we took the business approach, like had a man in a suit, had a delivery person,
07:27and then had a delivery person, and then had a business suit.
07:32And I thought about what if we took the business approach, like had a man in a suit, had a delivery person,
07:40and then had like a bike messenger.
07:42No, no, no, no.
07:43Too costuming.
07:44That was one out, so we should probably do all three suits.
07:46All three suit looks.
07:47Okay.
07:48What about if we had really beautiful like crystal buttons or something so when they pop them off, it's just all Velcro down.
07:54Sometimes when you see the black crystals going down the tuxedo.
07:57Not crystal.
07:58If Richard dressed these guys how he wanted, we would totally have RuPaul, we would have Prince, we would have Boy George.
08:05How they're like, they're tuxedo buttons, you know, how they have like that opalescent kind of thing.
08:09We don't want it to be gaudy.
08:13I'm trying to throw some ideas out there, and clearly they're not being really receptive of it.
08:19There has to be an edge to it.
08:20I don't want to make Mr. Big and Tall with Velcro.
08:23Clearly there's already a line between the team.
08:28Coming up on Project Runway.
08:32I smell chaos and bedlam.
08:35What about this?
08:36The only person you can rely on is yourself.
08:38We cannot disappoint the thunder from down under.
08:41Amen.
08:42Team Shades of Grey, Team Slick and Hip.
08:51Your 40 minutes to shop starts right now.
08:53Go, go, go.
08:55We're making tearaway suits.
08:57That's absolutely insane.
08:58Yeah, it's totally nuts.
08:59This challenge, we are creating three fashionable looks for the Dancers of the Thunder Down Under.
09:09Not only tearaway, but like these are not normal bodies.
09:13It's probably the hardest challenge to date.
09:16What about this?
09:17It has a little bit of a stretch to it.
09:19No, no.
09:20It's too feminine.
09:21There's this one.
09:22I like that.
09:23There's this one.
09:24I like this.
09:25Richard's aesthetic goes a little Vegas-y.
09:28Come on, Fabric.
09:29Speak to me.
09:30I'd rather play it safe.
09:31I'd rather not play it safe and go home than play it safe and leave on something I don't believe in.
09:36And that's your call.
09:37Designers, time is up.
09:42All right, designers.
09:46This is a very ambitious challenge to execute in this timeframe.
09:50And I'm just going to be blunt.
09:52Some of the worst work that has ever walked the runway on Project Runway has been menswear.
09:57And we cannot disappoint the Thunder from Down Under.
10:01Amen.
10:02Make it work.
10:05Our other really big problem is that we don't really have a style.
10:08What's our reference?
10:09I thought our reference was going to be kind of like George Armani.
10:12Super slim and a shawl lapel.
10:14What if we offset the collar to where it was this way?
10:17We have to make it so that they look chic.
10:19Not tricky.
10:20Okay.
10:21I think I'm a little on edge because I'm so used to having support around me.
10:28I just need to take a break.
10:30Hey, baby.
10:31I miss you.
10:32How's it going?
10:33Oh.
10:34Oh.
10:35Oh, sweetie.
10:36It's okay.
10:37It's okay.
10:38It's okay.
10:39I'm so glad to see you.
10:40Oh, I'm glad to see you too.
10:42Is everything okay?
10:43Yeah.
10:44Do you make scene like this for men's jacket?
10:45I don't know.
10:46I was looking at you doing it.
10:47I'm making the jacket.
10:48It has to be impeccable on point.
10:49It's kind of like one of the most important pieces, but I'm clueless about the construction.
10:50This is the dart and then this would be the seam.
10:51And then this would be the seam and like this or more angled.
10:52Like this.
10:53Like this.
10:54Like this.
10:55Like this.
10:56Yeah.
10:57Yeah.
10:58Is everything okay?
10:59Yeah.
11:00Do you make scene like this for men's jacket?
11:03I don't know.
11:04I was looking at you doing it.
11:05I'm making the jacket.
11:07It has to be impeccable on point.
11:09It's kind of like one of the most important pieces, but I'm clueless about the construction.
11:14This is the dart and then this would be the seam and like this or more angled.
11:21Like this.
11:22Like this.
11:23Okay.
11:24This is really confusing.
11:25Nice, Michelle.
11:26Oh, that looks good.
11:27You know, with the zipper, high zip.
11:30Yeah.
11:31I'm feeling nervous because I only have half of the strips done.
11:35But you know what I'm saying.
11:36Yeah, yeah, yeah.
11:37Definitely.
11:38I have a lot of work to do in a little time.
11:40Just keep moving.
11:41It's just you.
11:42You doubt yourself.
11:43Just keep going.
11:44Why is this such a quiet room?
11:47Focused.
11:48Good.
11:49So designers, I'm here to check in with you.
11:51How is this team?
11:52We're like a factory.
11:53Okay.
11:54Well, I want to hear what you're doing.
11:55We're doing classic masculine.
11:56Kind of like designing for a version of Australian George Clooney that takes his clothes off.
12:02We wanted to offer a jacket, a vest, and a shirt and pants.
12:06Who's working on the pants?
12:07I am.
12:08All the pants?
12:09Except for mine.
12:10I think of you talking about the construction details and about issues of fit.
12:16It's the same pattern.
12:17Okay.
12:18I made the pattern for the pants.
12:19I'm doing the vest look.
12:20Are you doing the head-to-toe look?
12:22I'm doing the pant and the vest, and Richard's working on all the tops.
12:26Are they all shirts?
12:27Uh, yeah.
12:28They're all different though.
12:29Do you like what's going on?
12:30Yeah.
12:31But can I make a comment about this lapel?
12:33It seems thin.
12:34I wanted to do a skinny lapel.
12:36But you don't want to feminize these guys.
12:39Proportions are really important.
12:40Do you like the back?
12:42This is the way you would make a woman's jacket.
12:45I mean, it's a peplum.
12:46But are you putting a vent in it?
12:48I have two vents.
12:49We talked about it.
12:50See?
12:51Richard, you're nodding your head.
12:53It should be like here and here.
12:54I asked Richard.
12:56I think when I asked Richard for his opinion, he wasn't even paying attention because he told
13:01me it was okay.
13:02Like this or more angled?
13:04Like this.
13:05Like this.
13:06And now he tries to throw me under the bus.
13:07I thought we drew it out already.
13:10Um, there's a seam here.
13:12No, she has crossed out.
13:14I thought it was supposed to be a seam.
13:16I'm having a sense you four aren't weighing in on what each other's doing.
13:21I mean, Liana's already constructed this, and the team is now saying, well, this isn't
13:25right.
13:26Even at Mood, I felt this kind of frenetic frenzy from the four of you.
13:30And I didn't see you coming together to sort these things out.
13:33It was more like, well, let's get this stuff and we'll figure it out in the work room.
13:37And I sense you're still trying to figure that all out.
13:42I just, this is not good.
13:45I spent the whole day in one blazer.
13:47I'm concerned about the four of you.
13:49This is going to be a disaster.
13:51Hi team.
13:52Hello.
13:53How are you doing?
13:54Really good.
13:55I'm responding very positively to this.
13:56Let's move on.
13:57I am the classic traditional suit.
13:58We've pared down everything.
13:59So it's so simple.
14:00It's just dark in the back.
14:01I designed a pattern for the shirt where it's just, it's all just combined.
14:03So it's just like it snaps and pops open.
14:04Okay.
14:05This was going to be a complete woven top with top stitching, but it's not going to be
14:06enough time.
14:07So it's going to be a small detail on a white shirt.
14:09This seems like a flip flop of what you should have done.
14:12Make the shirt first and then work on the applique.
14:14I mean, the clock is ticking.
14:15You're going to topstitch all this?
14:16Modern trench to the knee.
14:17I'm going to just do maybe single breasted, just very simple.
14:18I just picture clergy.
14:19I think once I finish my detail work on it, it's going to look great.
14:34I think you should be pleased with what you've achieved, but ramp it up even further.
14:37up even further all right designers you have until one o'clock tonight all right i will see you in
14:43the morning thank you thank you hello are you okay guys these men are like superhero bodies
14:51these guys thighs were the size of our regular model's waist this is strange fitting this
14:57these are a terrible job what a terrible job you guys have the same underwear too
15:05all righty all right man thank you
15:17good luck let's do this bye atlas let's head to four channels
15:23good show time
15:27good morning designers good morning your clients are coming in momentarily you're going to have
15:35time to fit them at this end of the morning then they're going to the l'oreal paris hair and makeup
15:41rooms the lord and taylor wool has men's accessories so use them very thoughtfully we're going to have
15:46a great runway show are we not are you excited yeah all right good good morning oh it's not
15:53jacked off with your clothes the models come and i'm like put this on oh that works perfectly
16:02that's so handsome i feel our team looks really good even though i'm michelle's best kind of looks
16:08like the lollipop kill from the wizard of oz it's so tight i have to recut it again oh my god am i
16:19going to get this done you know just make them look like they're fresh and we're ready to go
16:30thanks guys have fun i don't care how much makeup you put as long as it's very natural
16:36okay that makes sense we've got plenty of bronzer in the l'oreal makeup room
16:43he normally wears his hair like kind of wet looking in back like that so we'll just put a little
16:47of the gel in it and the product is set up yeah sorry we better get started on makeup it's gonna
16:51take a while to get my head done i'm sure i would just need a little bit of shine you know what i'm
16:55saying take it off real quick take it off real quick real quick real quick quick i gotta fix one
17:06thing i just saw two more minutes i'm finally finished i get it done it's just that i feel
17:12completely ashamed of my use of time yeah rock and roll okay take them off michelle agree to help me
17:21with my shirt i'm gonna hot glue this stanley the placket of your tear away shirt is so beautiful
17:27how about instead of me sewing this velcro how about i hot glue it hot glue doesn't adhere to fabric
17:35so it keeps pulling the velcro off the fabric instead of opening the shirt
17:42how did that happen i don't know what happened but everything is too tight too short and too tight
17:49they are five inches off the ground and i'm confused because i use the same exact pattern
17:54and my pants fit great the white fabric the white fabric designers and clients we are going down to
18:01the runway at parsons right now dressed or not are we really about to send these clothes down the runway
18:09come everyone we gotta go because we are leaving just looks real bad really bad
18:14coming up on project runway
18:24this is so surreal
18:35hi everybody welcome to the runway as you know in fashion one day you're in and the next day
18:41you're out the eight of you here and after tonight there will be seven one member from the winning
18:46team will be the winner of this challenge and one member from the losing team will be out
18:52for this challenge you worked in two teams of four and we the judges decided who will be working
18:57together we asked each team to make three performance looks for the thunder from down under
19:03the winning look will be worn in an opening routine from the thunder from down under
19:07you had one day and 750 dollars to put your looks together and i can't wait to see what you have
19:13come up with okay let's meet the judges first we have acclaimed american designer zach posen hi
19:21fashion director for mary clara magazine nina garcia hi everyone and our guest judge for today
19:27actress and singer and star of the hit series shameless emery rossom welcome hi we will score your
19:34designs as they come down the runway two designers from the winning team will be the winners and one
19:40member from the losing team will be out let's start the show
19:48the shirt's too long my heart is like sinking into my stomach it looks like clown wear
20:04well at least my look fits right
20:20i am a total loss of words
20:27it looked like something that may have fit but was sent to the wrong dry cleaner
20:32it was unsalvageable
20:39oh my god oh my god these clothes look ridiculous
20:43so all we can do is really just laugh i guess you just have to make fun of yourself
20:49the pants just don't fit i like that they're tight but they're way too tight
20:54they're so high you see way too much ankle
21:00this is the biggest trend ever
21:05okay here we go
21:08the only thing that really saves us is that these guys are actually really great dancers
21:22wow
21:39there is not one problem with the tearaway but that's the only thing that did not have a problem
21:43go ahead marty i forgot to vote me too i think we all did i was a little distracted
22:00to me the pants could have been a little bit more tapered but i think he looks pretty cool
22:04nice jacket my woven shirt you can't even see because the trench coat is on the whole time
22:14so a lot of work for nothing
22:22my guy looks good but still the jacket could have been a little bit more constructive and fit it
22:27i didn't get to press the seams the way i wanted to a little sloppy
22:33but compared to the other team way better
22:44the vast is kind of the showpiece of this outfit but it is so short this is not good
22:50but our team's clothes are definitely stronger than the other teams and i hope the judges can see that
23:02look at those full pockets on that nice butt
23:16the performance of disaster the judges are going to eat us alive
23:42i have to be honest i was so excited for this challenge and it was a real letdown
24:01we don't think that you guys were very creative and you had a lot of construction issues
24:06we know that menswear is tough but you really could have done better and really think more outside of
24:11the box bad designers
24:23i think we should wrap the show early and i think you're all out
24:30but since we can't do that let's continue we do have a winning team and a losing team
24:38slick and hip you are the losing team
24:45that means shades of gray you're the winning team by default
24:50we're going to talk to the team shades of gray first so you guys can all leave the runway
24:54i mean you guys are just lucky that you're good looking because surely your clothes are not
25:07so tell us what happened here what me and patricia did on shannon was like just like the overcoat with
25:14the pant and then patricia did the white shirt you turn around like the back of this and sort of the
25:19lycra so he can move maybe i've tried to make it look too real when it should have been more a little
25:24bit more flashier i don't think it necessarily needed to be flashy but it needed to be interesting
25:29and got it also show their great bodies underneath the surprise when they undo it can we have a look at
25:36the shirt now is this a great surprise i'm not so sure about that i mean i have a potholder at home
25:43that looks similar to this what happened with the pants they should be shorter and a little
25:49bit more tapered why didn't you just like cut it and staple it up or velcro it up this is the moment
25:55to be tongue-in-cheek this is the moment to have fun this is a moment for fantasy why not be creative
26:03because we were thinking that we had to do office looks and not go out of that perimeter sorry sorry
26:10sorry i'm gonna interrupt you for a second what office story does this tell you here
26:15you know it's like the weirdest office i've ever been to are you playing with the 50 shades of gray
26:23hot guy in the office who has a mysterious i mean is that what just came to my head because i got the
26:29trench coat with the kind of mystery of it all and then underneath he had this body and the trench coat
26:37looks like a beauty smock the smocks that you wear to cut your hair i mean come on i'm not going to
26:45speak anymore what about the hanky i wanted to give him things to do to extend his time on the stage
26:53one lucky girl that night will get that hanky you know and that's his surprise leg i don't mind this
26:59this is the more palatable yeah it's palatable alex what do you think about this west i like the best
27:08i like how it fits and how it looks i like the way you say i like i like the best was it a real zipper
27:15or is it velcro it's a real zipper and is that okay for performance yeah it was a good okay it's a little
27:21bit of something you can do slowly and yeah what do you think about the hanky alex would you actually use
27:26that yeah i think it could be definitely using the show you could walk out in the crowd and
27:30hand it off to a girl you know i think it's something add something extra and then let's
27:34talk about poor ryan in the middle with his rental suit what is hot about that an athletic fit suit
27:40it's kind of hot when you see a guy you know with a fitted suit do you think it's hot the pants are the
27:44best part for me let's have a look what is great about these pants sell them to us whenever anything
27:49is fitted we have a problem with that ripping and but these pants you've got plenty of flexibility
27:53and they're lightweight i mean what do you think about these three looks i like the idea of the
28:00office theme i like that these two fellows kind of look like they're in an office but then alex with
28:06his sleeveless vest and the tattering on the shoulder kind of looks like he works in a gas station
28:13so i'm not sure if that feels like a cohesive office place for me he looks like he looks really
28:20good at the gas station i think the vest is more inventive and fun i wish that the scarf had been
28:27hidden in an actual pocket so there was some mystery there and taking it out i don't think that the
28:33shirt is that bad with the macrame personally at least there was an attempt for something inventive
28:39as a texture the uh middle shirt is just terrifying for me i think you guys have to step it up
28:51i mean normally everyone can't wait until you take your clothes off i really couldn't wait until
28:56you took those clothes off nina do you have another overall on the good side at least the collars
29:03to stand i can give you one more positive oh the positive here is that the other team was even worse
29:15thank you shades of gray now we're going to talk to the losing team thank you
29:21samantha what's wrong no you're gonna beat us up me i'm gonna beat you guys up yeah i don't know you
29:36look very upset and angry it was definitely a challenge and none of us having men's way experience
29:42we were a little nervous i think we got really stuck on the initial idea i think that was a big
29:47mistake whose initial idea was this um the overall idea was that it had to be suits who made this suit
29:54i did she made the jacket richard made richard made the shirt and i made the pants
30:03so richard you made all three shirts i made all three shirts and i'm mortified at pocky's collar did
30:10you put a collar stand in no i never made a man's shirt before i didn't even know that it was supposed to
30:15to have that i've never made men's clothing before but even in a woman's shirt you have a i mean cut
30:21the one that you are undoing yeah that's that's kind of what's happening nina from our point of view
30:29his pants are slowly just coming off this is so surreal i think the worst part for me is that these
30:37guys feel embarrassed because they were amazing are you guys embarrassed nah i think they just were a bit
30:42rushed to get all the proper stitching done in time and things like that like these pants i asked for
30:47a bit of stretch in the material which these have so it's perfect for when i'm doing some little break
30:51dancing and stuff i mean i think that your outfit looks the best out of the three in any case whoever
30:56is responsible for this outfit i did the best and the pants nina what do you think overall on this
31:02i mean why the thought of making them so dressy we were thinking like this man thinker so you made
31:09them look like waiters right i guess caterers caterers amanda what would you say you were responsible
31:17in the garments here um i patterned the pants um so i made two of the pairs and then gave the pattern
31:22to samantha and she made the other pair samantha me me the shirts are too long the collars are a problem
31:29this jacket looks like a lady's jacket it's just a disaster not your strongest moment
31:40i love you guys i love you too i feel bad that they put you into this horrible clothes
31:48and one of the four of you will be out today
31:50so i asked you for who should that be samantha probably say i'm really sorry the pants was the
32:02biggest distraction for me so who are you saying i'm sorry amanda richard who do you think is the
32:10weakest link on your team amanda amanda who do you think is the weakest link i had a really difficult
32:19time working with richard um i think by the end of the you know our main work day he hadn't finished
32:26his shirt yet and it was making us all really really anxious and it was kind of adding to this
32:30frenzy there's kind of a disconnect like he's not really listening richard you were nodding kind of
32:36no when amanda was talking because because it's that's why
32:40there was a lot of push against myself in this challenge with amanda and leona against me i felt
32:49you know because of some of the things that i wanted to do that were more cutting edge but they
32:53wanted to be more sophisticated we tend to stop richard a little bit because his version of showy is
32:59really like over the top he would put like diamonds on the button shirt and things like that and when we
33:05consulted to the guys they said that that's not what they go for and i just feel like if you guys
33:10asked me who's the weakest link i would say richard because throughout the competition i feel like
33:14he's been very inconsistent and he makes too many excuses well i disagree with that because the reality
33:20is i made my shirts myself i didn't have help from nobody else i made my jacket myself too and you didn't
33:25ask stanley to help you with the back of it oh of course i asked okay i'm just wondering i put like
33:30a seam on the center back and i asked richard is this okay because he's okay he doesn't do menswear
33:36but he's a man doesn't don't you wear a collar shirt and how many times have i told you about the
33:42suit yeah it's okay then tim is the one that comes and said liana this looks like women's jacket so i
33:47try you know to recycle a little bit and i i take responsibility for it but i feel like richard is just
33:53making excuses so it sounds like overall this was not the most wonderful experience for the four of you
34:00okay we've heard what you had to say but i have a little chat and then i call you back thank you
34:09very much guys you can leave the runway thank you bye i have to say normally they are much better than
34:20today right normally they're not that bad it was really like just ripped these horrible clothes off
34:26already why is it so difficult to make a shirt for example it's not i mean i don't know what to tell
34:32them it's just not that difficult the difference between a woman's shirt and a men's shirt is that
34:37a woman has a bosom so it's actually easier then actually easier now these men have quite wild bodies
34:44to fit i think right that's complicated i think performance clothing is not easy it didn't seem like
34:50any of them were even familiar with how to make a tailored collared shirt because when you guys asked
34:56them what about collar stands or they all just kind of looked lost they didn't know what to say
35:04so liana made the most ill-fitting jacket i've ever seen in my life i think she was trying to go for
35:10like a tuxedo shawl collar but it sort of ended up like a late 17th century men's collar but then it also
35:18like it pulled open like this oh he had big shoulders but then didn't she take any measurements
35:23she knew that these enormous guys with muscles are gonna have to fit this jacket i mean right i mean
35:30it was bizarre it was very odd then richard made three shirts the black one was not as bad as the
35:37white ones or maybe because it was black the collar was pretty funky the length of the shirts are so
35:43weird too i mean on the first guy with the vest it almost the length made him look like he had a stomach
35:48and he clearly didn't i saw he was in really good shape yeah i think we've but when he took it off
35:56i mean he made three shirts he just probably ran out of time right poor richard i do have to say
36:03that is a lot of work all the women carrying up on him like he was supposed to be the one man that
36:10was supposed to know about tailoring and i feel he felt but just because he's a man doesn't mean that
36:14he said he didn't know how to tailor but that concerns me as a woman's designer not knowing how
36:20to tailor and then he brought well but it concerns me that none of them knew how to tailor forget him
36:30now we have to decide on who's going home from this team amanda made two pair of pants
36:35paki's pants they were too tight and then marty has one short and one long leg i mean what did amanda do
36:42here richard made the shirt too long it was supposed to be tucked in he couldn't tuck it in
36:47because the pants were too tight right there was one pair of pants that i thought looked the best
36:53out of all the pants we saw today yeah samantha was the one that made that pattern the one pair
36:58of pants looked slick and clean and amanda was supposed to follow through but didn't i mean this
37:04is a tough one you know unless we do again what we did last week we sent both home amanda and richard
37:13all right let's move on to the team that wasn't quite as bad but still pretty bad shades of gray
37:21what ryan is wearing for example i mean this is just a snooze fest of a suit patricia what she did
37:27this basket thing seriously it was a lot of work into something that didn't turn out to be very sexy
37:34no no i mean talking about arts and crafts yeah we all like the look that michelle gave to alex but then
37:40again i have to say that does not fit into the office theme here i think you have to give michelle
37:47points for doing a zipper and not just focusing on velcro because all of the other pieces that we saw
37:53were all velcro pullaways and this was the one reveal that was using a different mechanism okay let's
37:58talk about daniel the only thing here that i would wear as a garment is the overcoat and i would put a
38:05belt on it so it didn't look like i was getting a color job on my hair to me it looked a bit like
38:11a flasher to be honest but i sort of like that creepy it worked with the context of them being
38:18thunder from down under it was hiding the thunder they could have put a belt on it there's maybe so
38:26much thunder that he needed a really big one i don't know i mean the question is do we even have
38:34a winner for this week designers unfortunately today our favorite part was when the clothes were off
38:47tonight there's no winner and this is a project for my first team shades of gray you went at the
38:57worst team today you're all in you can use the runway samantha you're in you can use the runway thank you
39:10good luck layana you're in he keeps the runway richard amanda one of you will be out
39:31and i'm going to be completely honest this was a very hard decision today both of your garments were
39:36poorly made ill-fitting boring and uncreative richard
39:52you're in
39:55but very barely
40:01i'm sorry amanda that means you're out
40:06all the best to you thank you thanks guys
40:15i did not get my personal aesthetic and point of view across clearly
40:22i wasn't thinking big enough
40:27i'm in just kidding
40:28i'm proud of the moments where i really did exactly what i wanted
40:41and when i did that it was received very well
40:45wow yeah i mean can you all conceive of a challenge any tougher than this one no no no so amanda i'm gonna
40:56miss you oh you are so great and so talented thank you and we're going to hear much more from you
41:03you will i have to send you the workbook to clean up your space but i don't want to see you go
41:09bye amanda love you too baby you know honestly i'm totally excited to get back in my studio
41:17with all of my stuff and do what i do i've learned i've got a lot of work to do um and i'm okay with that
41:25that's exciting
41:32next time on project runway for this challenge you will be creating ready to wear looks the winner will
41:38have their looks sold at lord and taylor
41:42whoa you need to listen instead of like getting defensive i'm getting really pissed off the team
41:47dynamic is not friendly happy let's help each other out there's going to be an all-out war i did
41:53not tell you that it has to be done for a 21-year-old she did i did not is getting weird she knew she
41:59was not telling the truth i never said that it looks really sad it's very generic it went down south
42:23so
