00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03This museum and all of its contents are the source of your inspiration for this challenge.
00:09You're going to be creating a textile design that will be incorporated into both pieces.
00:15Oh my god!
00:17So you're gonna like bubble it, sew it?
00:19No, it's gonna be flat.
00:20Our aesthetics are like oil and water.
00:22Do you guys have the fake crystals here?
00:24Are you kidding me?
00:25That's awkward.
00:26I'm really not happy about the way Richard's piece looks.
00:29He hasn't wanted to listen.
00:31This is gonna get me in a lot of trouble.
00:39This is what Project Runway is all about.
00:41I mean, I just love the whole thing.
00:43Love.
00:44Stanley and Michelle, you are the winning team.
00:47Stanley, congratulations.
00:48You are the winner of this challenge.
00:51Patricia and Richard, we did not see any cohesion with your looks.
00:55And we can tell that you did not work well together.
00:57Patricia, you're in.
00:59No, it's okay.
01:00I'm sorry, Richard.
01:02That means you're out.
01:04This is Project Runway.
01:05Team's edition.
01:06The winner of Project Runway will receive $50,000 in technology and office space from HP and Intel
01:12to bring their creativity to life and run their business.
01:15The fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.
01:17The 2013 Lexus GS.
01:19$100,000 from Laurel Paris to start their own line.
01:23And the chance to design and sell an exclusive collection at Lord & Taylor.
01:28And the model paired with the winner of Project Runway will win a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and $25,000 from Laurel Paris Advanced Hair Care.
01:37Heidi and I want to see the five of you in 10 minutes.
01:48So meet us down on the runway.
01:49Hats and all.
01:50Hats and all, Michelle.
01:52Okay.
01:53All right.
01:55Hi, designers.
01:56Hi.
01:57Welcome back to the runway.
01:58Designers, you know by now that when Heidi and I call you down here, it's to reorganize
02:08and restructure how you're working together.
02:10For the past few challenges, we the judges have decided who will be working together.
02:15Now we feel like it's time for each of you to design on your own.
02:20Yes.
02:21Yes.
02:22But as you know, this season is Project Runway teams.
02:24Every challenge is a team challenge in some form or fashion.
02:28Hmm.
02:29What could that mean?
02:31You will have helpers.
02:32Oh.
02:33Say what?
02:34Sewing assistants that will work under you.
02:38Okay.
02:39How many?
02:40So, the communication and management skills that you've developed during this entire season
02:45will be very, very important to you because you need to direct these individuals.
02:49Mm-hmm.
02:50We're going to have you meet them in the workroom tomorrow after you find out more about your
02:54next challenge.
02:55You and I are taking a field trip tomorrow morning, all right?
02:58I wish you all good luck and I'll see you back here on the runway.
03:01Bye, everybody.
03:02Bye.
03:03I'll see you in the morning.
03:04We're in the most beautiful building, the Hearst Corporation, and it's inspiring.
03:23I'm kind of over the moon.
03:26Hello.
03:27How are you?
03:28Very good.
03:29Designers, welcome to the Hearst Building, home of Marie Claire magazine.
03:34And Nina, we are so honored to meet you here. Thank you for letting us come.
03:38I am very excited about this next challenge.
03:41As you may know, at Marie Claire, we don't just showcase the best in fashion.
03:46We present the looks on some of the hottest faces in young Hollywood.
03:52So with that in mind, for your next challenge,
03:56we want you to create a fashion-forward editorial look
04:00for a celebrity fashion story that will run in our May 2013 issue.
04:07And designers, there's a huge incentive for you to want to win this challenge.
04:11The winning designer's look will be photographed,
04:13and it will be worn by the beautiful and talented Jordana Brewster.
04:22Jordana Brewster has been in the Fast and Furious, Dallas.
04:25For her to rock my look would be really cool and very clear.
04:28I do not want to see a red carpet look on Jordana.
04:31I'm not expecting gowns here.
04:33I don't want to see t-shirts and pants, okay?
04:37The look needs to be editorial. It needs to be bold.
04:41It needs to be bold in the color, in the shape, in the print, in the silhouette,
04:46in something, because that's what editors will want to photograph.
04:51So think about that.
04:53So you're designing what's next, not what's now.
04:57You have one day for this challenge.
04:59You have a budget of $250.
05:01You're going to have 30 minutes to sketch here
05:03at the beautiful and very inspiring Hearst Building.
05:06And I want to encourage you to use your HP tablets
05:08because they're a very useful tool in creative thinking
05:12and your abilities to innovate.
05:14Do your best work.
05:16You can.
05:17Okay?
05:18Do not disappoint me.
05:19Do not embarrass me.
05:21All right?
05:23All right, everyone.
05:24Your 30 minutes to sketch starts now.
05:26Knowing that we have somebody to sew, I feel that I could do two pieces.
05:38I'm going to do an off-the-shoulder dress.
05:40I'm going to paint these very organic, bulbish shapes
05:44that are kind of like in the spring before a flower blooms.
05:47And then I'm thinking of the jacket that has a collar that's across the shoulder.
05:53Designers, time is up.
05:55Let's head off to Mood.
06:06Designers, time is up.
06:10I need all of you to be at the counter right now.
06:14Change.
06:15All right, designers, let's head back to 1407 Broadway.
06:18Thank you, Mood.
06:23Designers, gather round, please.
06:24Are you ready to meet your sewing assistants?
06:25Yes.
06:26Well, let's bring them in.
06:27Hi, everyone.
06:28Hello.
06:29Hello.
06:30Hello.
06:31Welcome back.
06:32I'm super nervous because out of the group in front of me, Amanda's pretty much who I
06:36want to work with.
06:37And I really don't want to work with Richard.
06:38I really don't have time to be, you know, involved with Richard.
06:39Technically, I know he's a little bit challenged.
06:40I can't work with Richard.
06:41We just don't work well together.
06:42All right.
06:43Stanley, you won the last challenge.
06:44You get to choose your sewing assistant first.
06:45Two.
06:46Yay!
06:47And the rest of our selection process will be facilitated by…
06:48Oh, the wretched man.
06:49I have the group in front of me.
06:50The man is pretty much who I want to work with.
06:51And I really don't want to work with Richard.
06:54I really don't have time to be, you know, involved with Richard.
06:57Technically, I know he's a little bit challenged.
06:59I can't work with Richard.
07:00We just don't work well together.
07:02All right.
07:03Stanley, you won the last challenge.
07:05You get to choose your sewing assistant first.
07:08Two.
07:09Yay!
07:10And the rest of our selection process will be facilitated by…
07:15Oh, the wretched button bag.
07:18Can you say that a little louder, Michelle?
07:21Ooh.
07:22And here it is.
07:23Okay.
07:24Which designer chooses next?
07:26It is…
07:27Michelle!
07:28Oh, my gosh.
07:29Amanda!
07:30Daniel.
07:31I told you, Daniel.
07:33Come on, Samantha.
07:35Yay!
07:36Come on, Daniel.
07:37I'm ready.
07:39I'm ready.
07:40I'm praying a thousand miles an hour.
07:41Please call my name.
07:42Please call my name.
07:43I'm not ready to work with Richard again right now.
07:46I'm so spent and I'm really tired.
07:49I just… please?
07:51Next, we have…
07:56Layana.
07:58Uh, Kate.
08:00Yay!
08:01Okay.
08:02Okay, we'll do it this time.
08:08Patricia and Richard.
08:11Deja vu.
08:12I don't even have a prayer left in the moment.
08:14I don't…
08:15I don't remember how to pray anymore.
08:17I'm…
08:18I'm just beside myself.
08:25Designers, you are in charge of your vision.
08:28You are in charge of managing time and your sewing assistance.
08:31This is your design that's being presented to the judges.
08:36And it's up to you how you distribute the workload.
08:40This is meant to enable you to be more ambitious than you could be on your own.
08:45Patricia and Richard, this is an opportunity for the two of you to heal and repair.
08:50It didn't go so well, the last challenge.
08:52Designers and sewing assistants, to work.
08:54Yay!
08:55So the top, it's see-through, knit, tank.
09:01This is leather.
09:02And this is split open.
09:03So it opens when you walk.
09:04So the challenge today is to design a look for an editorial shoot for Marie Claire.
09:09And then the winner of this challenge gets their look worn in this editorial by Jordana Brewster,
09:16who's a pretty smokin' lady.
09:18I'm just going to go with the simplest look, because it's all going to be French themes.
09:22Are you comfortable sewing the silk organza?
09:25I'm comfortable.
09:26I mean, just let me know whatever you need me to do.
09:28I'm down to help you with whatever.
09:30Okay.
09:31I just wasn't ready to be working with Richard again.
09:34It's gut-wrenching knowing that I don't have the support that I thought was going to do.
09:38Nice.
09:39I think it's editorial.
09:40Yes.
09:41I think it's fashion-forward.
09:42And it's going to look good on her skin, because it's going to be nude in a way.
09:45And she has, like, tan skin.
09:46And she's so rich-looking.
09:47And she has, like, tan skin, yes.
09:48Now the jacket is this.
09:51So this is just the dress part?
09:52Yeah.
09:53Okay.
09:54Then what is all that?
09:55I'm not understanding.
09:56So is this fabric this?
09:58No, I'm just saying that this isn't wide enough, so I'm going to have to make one piece here.
10:02It's going to have to be two pieces.
10:04Do you see what I mean?
10:05Because it's not wide enough.
10:07I have to rethink if I'm going to have him sew, because I don't trust him.
10:13I'm worried.
10:14This is all off.
10:15Make sure you get an accurate fit.
10:17When you see, because this is pulling all the way over here, it's completely off.
10:21No, let me redo it.
10:22I don't want it to be crooked when you cut the pattern out.
10:24If you do it right the first time, you just know mistakes.
10:26Okay.
10:27I don't like mistakes.
10:28Stanley, you better win.
10:30You better win.
10:31I really get my all because you really averse me.
10:34You have to win.
10:35You better win.
10:36It's not okay.
10:37I'm trying to show you what to do.
10:38If I don't show you, I don't want to screw it up.
10:40So I need to show you.
10:41Hi, everyone.
10:42Hi.
10:43I'm here to check in with you.
10:44So Michelle, what are you doing?
10:45The pants have kind of a take on a matador pant, and then there's a punk element that the
10:58top is really see-through, and she'll have just a black bra.
11:02Talk to me about everything else.
11:03There are points of me that want to ditch this really bright that runs down the side.
11:08Mm-hmm.
11:09Ask yourself, what does the look really need?
11:12You worry me.
11:14Nina said she didn't want pants and a t-shirt.
11:16She told us all, designers, stay away from that.
11:19And Michelle just ignored her or didn't pay attention.
11:25Let's party.
11:26Daniel, how are you?
11:27I'm doing really well.
11:28Hi, Samantha.
11:29Welcome back.
11:30So what are you doing?
11:31I'm doing my sculpture-style jacket, and then I took in consideration back for taking pictures
11:37from the back.
11:38That would be cool.
11:39And then the shorts are cut a little bit higher, and it's a linen, and I like that it has a
11:43sheen on it.
11:44So the whole look is out of this yellow linen.
11:45Yes.
11:46Very great.
11:47Thank you both.
11:48Okay.
11:50Stanley, how are you?
11:51Hi, Tim.
11:52How are you two working together?
11:53Two of my pal-pal.
11:56Okay.
11:57So I'm doing this sort of cool-out pant.
11:59It has pockets and a really high waistband.
12:01I'm going to do a sleeveless blouse.
12:03And this is the fabric.
12:04And this is something new for me.
12:06Just going to be a tiny, tight-fitting jacket with the satin underlay.
12:10It's going to fold up.
12:11Well, I mean, quite frankly, I'm marveling at your ability to execute all this.
12:15Yeah.
12:16And that's actually the point of the whole challenge.
12:18Yeah, thank you.
12:19Be ambitious enough to go beyond what you could actually do in this amount of time.
12:22All right.
12:23Next work.
12:24Go, go, go.
12:25Get that jacket done.
12:26You heard it from him, not me.
12:27Oh.
12:28How's Liana?
12:29I'm good.
12:30I'm intrigued already.
12:31Talk to me.
12:32I was so drawn to the architecture of the building.
12:35I wanted to do something that ready to wear, but, you know, turn up like two notches because
12:41it's editorial.
12:42I want to be like...
12:43That's what you should want.
12:44Yeah, exactly.
12:45Like work of art.
12:46My response to this is that the proportion here is good with the armor aspect, with the
12:51leather.
12:52You've got this great trajectory going now.
12:54Continue it.
12:55Okay?
12:57Thanks, Tim.
12:58See you later, Kate.
12:59Good seeing you again.
13:00How are you?
13:02Oh, I was in a spiraling, berserk craze of changing and changing my design.
13:07Why?
13:08Because, um, from our last challenge, I was afraid it was going to be too technical,
13:13so I'm having to rethink my design, because then I'm thinking that it was going to be too
13:19much, so I redesigned the palette to make it simple, and I was going to create a fabric
13:24and make one piece of material, but I don't have enough time for art anymore, so...
13:28You don't have time.
13:29I had to rethink the whole silhouette.
13:31Patricia, if you can execute this dress with all this leather flower detail, that alone
13:36will be a wow.
13:38Okay.
13:39Don't waver from the plan.
13:40I'm not.
13:41I'm so focused.
13:42You're feeling better?
13:43Oh, 100%.
13:44Okay.
13:45100%.
13:46You look better, I can tell you.
13:47I know.
13:48Alright.
13:49Yeah.
13:50Bye-bye.
13:52Alright, designers.
13:53I'm going to leave you for the night, and I just want to tell you, I am so happy with
14:00how ambitious you're all being.
14:02Don't second-guess yourselves, and stay on the path, okay?
14:06Good night, everyone.
14:08We'll thread this.
14:09It's the French seam that we do on this, and this is really meticulous.
14:13She's asking me to do this seam, and that seam, and press this here, and she's using this
14:20terminology, and I'm just, show me what you want, and I'll just do it for you.
14:26I think I sew pretty well, so.
14:28Let me just show you that, and then I'll know it'll be okay.
14:34I really had to walk him through the steps, and I couldn't leave him to sew independently.
14:40I'm just going to have to do these ones too, because you see, if I do, if I trim it inside
14:46out, it's going to mess it up.
14:47Do you know what I mean?
14:48Mm-hmm.
14:49Well, I'll just sit right here with you.
14:50Yeah, exactly.
14:51I showed Richard how to do a French seam, but he's taking me 40 minutes when it should
14:57take me 15.
14:58I feel like I'm taking a class.
14:59You're educating me so much.
15:01I'm scared inside, because of what happened the last time.
15:05I can't deal with that right now.
15:08I really can't.
15:09It's too much for me.
15:14Coming up on Project Runway.
15:15Oh, the time is going too fast.
15:18No, you turn it over.
15:19I have a seamstress that can't sew.
15:21How does that help?
15:31What I'm freaking out about is if I have to teach you how to do the French seam, I'm
15:36going to lose time on doing the art part.
15:38So I think if I teach, then if I come up with a...
15:41For the French seam, is it the one that just sewn and then opened?
15:46Yeah, and then sew it again.
15:50Um, I have a seamstress that can't sew, and he's causing me frustration.
15:56I don't know.
15:57I just need to stop panicking.
15:59Do you want French seams?
16:01They're not going to see it, so let's not waste any time.
16:05Okay.
16:06No French seams.
16:09You're doing all this?
16:10Thank you for you.
16:11It's going to take you forever.
16:12Two can't talk.
16:13He can't smile.
16:15He can't eat.
16:16He can't drink.
16:17He can hardly breathe.
16:18He just has to sew, sew, sew, sew, sew.
16:20I'm not surprised because standing is like this throughout the competition.
16:24I hate to say, I don't say please and thank you, but I just, I mean it.
16:28I just, I get rushed in my head.
16:33Hey.
16:34Hi.
16:37So it's on your right.
16:38Which is your right?
16:39Okay.
16:40It's so pretty.
16:41It is so pretty.
16:42Love it.
16:43Yeah, we're going to have to shorten this a lot.
16:44Look at all this.
16:45Yeah.
16:46See?
16:47Mm.
16:48Green's like my new color now.
16:49It's like my new Michelle.
16:51Yay.
16:52You can wear it.
16:53I love green.
16:54Come on.
16:55Perfect.
17:04Are you sure?
17:05No.
17:06You turn it over.
17:07Remember like this one time.
17:08And then, that's why I said flip it over one more time.
17:10Oh.
17:11And then, yeah.
17:12Yeah, yeah, yeah.
17:13I am trying to keep it together and I am just struggling at this point.
17:17Somehow I'll find my way out.
17:19It's just, if I go home, it's just really going to suck.
17:22And I'm always wanting to cry because I don't know how to work with him yet.
17:27And I'm trying to figure it out.
17:29Well, I just don't know.
17:30I think this may be Patricia's swan song.
17:35Goodbye, Atlas.
17:36Get ready for fashion week.
17:37Yes.
17:38Here we go.
17:39Gotta do it.
17:40Gotta do it.
17:41Please.
17:42Let's go.
17:43Thank you, Atlas.
17:44Let's go.
17:45Thank you, Atlas.
17:46I think this may be Patricia's swan song
17:50Goodbye Atlas get ready for fashion week. Yes. Here we go. Gotta do it
17:57Let's go. Thank you Atlas
18:16Oh
18:17Good morning designers and sewing assistants. How is everyone?
18:21Yeah, good your models are coming in momentarily
18:24You will have an hour to send them to the L'Oreal Paris hair and makeup rooms
18:27You'll have a few extra minutes to prep them for the runway use the Lord and Taylor wall very thoughtfully
18:33And we will have a fabulous runway show. Yes. Yes. All right. Thank you. I will see you later
18:39Are you doing too? Not good. Not good. Not good is not good. Yeah, what are you doing?
18:45You should have pressed it first. Oh, I got it too. This is awful
18:50You know, I don't respond to not good
18:56Let's try these on oh my god look they're perfect
19:08She liked the makeup to look as close as possible something like this I love that makeup and it'll look gorgeous
19:13I want her to look bronzy. It's supposed to be in May and it's she's wearing like almost a chrome yellow
19:20bronzilla bronzilla
19:25And then we'll wrap it something like that yeah
19:29So to have kind of this warrior feel to it like a modern samurai. Yes, we would love to do a natural
19:36Kind of full hair on her blow dry it with the smooth cream
19:40Mm-hmm to make the texture smooth. You got it. Thank you so much. No problem

19:54Yeah, you don't even have to do don't don't him like that. That's why it's taking you so long
20:00Everything's fitting great. I feel really good. I feel confident that I'll be a final four

20:11Yeah, so we need to be there for him
20:14Patricia I can help oh fabulous
20:17Then you can sew this on and he can help me cut leather. Thank God
20:21Samantha came and helped me so at the last minute. She helped me pull it off. Sam you're the best
20:27Quick look that right that line so angled right yeah
20:36Designers and models we are going down to the runway at Parsons. Thank your sewing assistance. They are staying behind
20:43I'm
20:54Hi everybody
20:56Welcome to the runway as you know in fashion one day you're in and the next day you're out
21:03There are five of you here and after tonight there will be four
21:07For this challenge you designed on your own
21:10But we gave you sewing assistance. How did that work out for you?
21:14Did you bust them around do this so fast to do this hook it up you did a little bit you did?
21:20Nice being the boss
21:22We asked you to create a spring summer high fashion editorial look
21:27The winner of this challenge will have their look in the pages of the May issue of Mary Claire magazine
21:32And the look will be photographed on the beautiful and talented Jordana Brewster
21:37This is a huge payoff and I hope that you pushed yourself in this challenge
21:42Okay, let's meet the judges first. We have acclaimed American designer Zack Posen
21:48Hi
21:50Fashion director for Mary Claire magazine Nina Garcia
21:53Hello
21:55And our guest judge for today star of Dallas and the upcoming fast and furious six Jordana Brewster welcome
22:02Hi
22:03We will score your designs as they come down the runway one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out
22:11Okay, let's start the show
22:13Oh, yeah girl you know it has a lot of movement. It has a lot of life
22:28The shimmer of the black leather is just subtle enough to add that extra something
22:38And these pants are killer I
22:43Haven't worn a pegged pants since like the late 80s and I'm gonna bring it back because I think it's absolutely stunning
22:50I'm very excited to see my design go down the runway
23:06It's floating beautifully the color looks really cool in spring and summer
23:11The fit is really good. I'm just having a great time watching Marina go down the runway in it
23:32She just looks amazing the culottes are moving the jacket is structured the hair is bouncing
23:41Nina is just really studying it Jordana smiling. It just looks amazing
23:51And I'm feeling really confident about this look she looks amazing
23:53I
24:06Feel a huge compromise as I see my look come down the runway
24:14I know that I did have to compromise on the finish because I finally put it together in an hour and a half
24:23At least I've got something to put on the runway
24:40It looks so cool
24:43Like a work of art I
24:47Look at it. I'm like, oh my god. I can't believe I made this happen in such a short time
24:53I
24:55Accomplished something that looks so out there and unusual and it looks very polished
25:11One of you will be named the winner of this challenge
25:17One of you will be out
25:23Since there are only five of you left we're going to talk to all of you today. Let's bring out your models
25:39Patricia tell us about your look
25:41I struggled quite a bit this design that I came up with in the leather was inspired by
25:47Contra belts
25:49But I thought for the spring festiveness
25:51I'd put the fringe going up so that it would dance
25:55More in celebration of the spring everything kind of coming up you always bring an element of surprise
26:02however
26:03Having said that I don't think this would work for Jordana
26:09She is a celebrity with a rocking body
26:12Mm-hmm
26:14And the shape
26:16Would not be flattering
26:18It is it's almost tent like and that is part of the reason that this look does not work
26:23You know you said you wanted to create
26:26Sort of a spring like texture something that had a lot of movement to it
26:29Unfortunately though when it did go down the runway. I didn't see
26:33Lots of movement of fringe and I wish I had seen more
26:36You know, I just don't feel like it totally feels like a finished look
26:41I agree with sec. I think it looks a little bit unfinished. I love that. It's one shoulder
26:45I love all the thought that you put into it
26:48But I also agree with Nina that it's a little bit shapeless and I would love it to either have a belt
26:53Or to somehow be a little bit more form-fitting when I saw this look
26:57I wasn't really sure do I like it do I not like it is a borderline
27:01Pocahontas or is it actually cool especially for
27:05What it was for it's a Marie Claire challenge it's supposed to be used for an editorial
27:11With certain kind of jewelry maybe belts things that you know the stylist will give her it would give her a look
27:17So I feel like it's a good palette to work with in a way
27:21Thank you. It's something unusual. I also think the look
27:26Shows that you have problems. I mean, there's little technical things that look a little
27:31That is true. Unfinished
27:34So how was it working with Richard?
27:38That that's the difficult part because he doesn't know how to work with silk
27:43And so I had to teach him how to do a french seam and that's where I kind of
27:49Had to keep it together and and be patient and know that I was going to see myself through it
27:54So I mean they were supposed to help you guys and not learn things. They're already did you choose you to work with Richard?
28:01No, no, we were in a button bag and so it was
28:07Yeah, thank you, Patricia
28:10Stanley tell us about your look
28:12These things have been dancing in my head since I've got here
28:15I wanted to do something that's not a palazzo pen
28:17But sort of a culotte or like a shorter pant and so that's when I decided to put the pocket in
28:21And that's when the shape started to dance a little bit
28:24I wanted the leather jacket because I wanted to ease about it and sort of sexiness about it
28:28And I didn't want to let nina down because that's the last thing she said don't disappoint me
28:31It was smart of you to create three pieces
28:35Because it gives us
28:37options
28:39The culottes are fabulous
28:42I love the fact that you played with volume
28:45I think it is a highly editorial look even if she's not moving if she's holding it it will make a fabulous picture
28:54Look at the lining is inside. It's very nice
28:58Wow that is she looks phenomenal it gives her a tiny waist it looks fresh it looks elegant it looks expensive
29:07And you know you made a lot of pieces so you really utilized too
29:13Yeah, you know you can you can tell I mean because you could have not done all these pieces by yourself
29:18No to actually constructed the jacket so that is very good management right there. Well, thank you
29:24Daniel tell us about your look
29:26When we talked to nina at the hearse building she the words I remember that she said was fantasy bold color
29:34So I took it and ran with it and what I did was I engineered it with curves so it could be bendable for
29:41Editorial if you want to bring it down if you want to bring it up
29:45And I like the different angles that when she turns around
29:48It can picture photograph at different angles really cool. He definitely gave nina what she wanted. I do see that
29:55But for me, I see victoria's secret. It's almost like borderline
30:00Little wings starting here that about to take off
30:03Like for me, it's almost a little bit too gimmicky
30:05You know, I could have seen it with a long tool simple skirt to balance the shoulders
30:10Because I really I don't think it the look is working. Um, I love the color. I think the color is stunning
30:16I love the back. I love that there's a contrast between how strong the shoulders are and how feminine
30:21The back is and the cinching at the waist. I would also like to see it with a skirt. I think that would make it a little more
30:27Romantic the good thing
30:29The thing is that this definitely would be on a rack
30:35For the celebrity or for a model
30:37We are always looking for something that will take a wonderful picture on all sides
30:42The fact that the shoulders can be manipulated is exciting
30:48I mean, it really has a lot of potential and it's color
30:53Mm-hmm. The bad that's okay is that
30:57It is I said may it looks a little easter and it looks a little bit like the ftd florist. Okay, it's definitely
31:06Memorable. Thank you
31:08Liana tell us about your look. I was a little inspired by um, the building itself
31:13Also a little bit like with the colors and the shape i'm very like feminine and delicate and soft
31:18But at the same time, I love like hard and a little bit of edge
31:22So I feel like this fabric represents a little bit of like the
31:25Lightness and air like and the femininity and this is kind of like an armor that you know
31:32Gives you the power and protects you. I'm really proud of you. Thank you. I think the top looks really good
31:37I like that. It's architectural the neckline is interesting. So, you know, it could be a
31:43A close-up shot. I also love that there's a shine coming from the leather and the color is beautiful because traditionally
31:50It would be black which I think would be really boring
31:52I think it's sexy. It's bold
31:57Can I see the back?
31:59Yeah, it's amazing. It looks very very good. I think also this would photograph really well. Oh, excellent
32:09Thank you. Thank you
32:11Michelle, tell us about your look
32:13So, I went a little more casual my version of a muscle tee and then I wanted a really big
32:20Pegged pant and a great color. I want this in my closet.
32:25I am shocked
32:27How good you are with your sewing skills? Oh
32:31But then I'm wondering is it enough for an editorial?
32:35Because you know sometimes they shoot you it's a full-length look and then all of a sudden
32:39Oh, it's gonna be cropped and then it looks like a white t-shirt
32:42So I'm not sure how nina feels about this, but I do not think it is strong enough
32:48And I remember pointedly
32:52Saying to you guys looking at you guys in the eyes and saying
32:57Please do not give me a t-shirt and a pair of pants
32:59I did exactly that huh nina and you did
33:05Exactly that shoot. I agree with heidi the finish is impeccable
33:10But it is not special enough for this particular challenge
33:14Okay, so yeah, I would love to wear it day to day. I'm not sure it's super editorial
33:19And here's the other thing michelle when you're putting together a magazine
33:24There is a part of fantasy that you need to give and a little bit of reality as well
33:31Right now. I am getting too much reality not enough and not enough fantasy
33:37It's got to make that woman that is picking up mary claire open the page and be like wow that is interesting
33:43I've never seen that before
33:46Okay, we've heard what you had to say but I have a little chat and then I call you back out you can leave the runway
33:57It's hard for me to
34:00Determine who should go this week. Well, I don't know you know, I gave them very
34:04specific
34:06Comments the look needs to be editorial it needs to be bold
34:11I don't want to see t-shirts and
34:14Pants some of them went for it and others really ignored it
34:21Let's talk about leana. I have to say this top would be what I would choose
34:27I think it's beautiful for the shoulders. I love the paca rabanne technique with with the rings through it
34:34listen, I love that she
34:37went to the hearse tower and she saw that
34:39Magnificent architecture that we have and took inspiration from that and I see it in her garment. Yeah, it is so
34:48Phenomenal could you see yourself wearing that mm-hmm? Absolutely, and then there's stanley
34:54Stanley's was really well made well thought out. I thought it was chic sophisticated
34:59But yet it's a culott
35:00Which is one of the harder pieces for women to wear and this thing the I don't know what you call it
35:05The pockets that are cut sort of coming out the flange usually it looks really unflattering
35:09But on it looked really cool. There's
35:12pieces to
35:14work with and they have
35:16punch
35:18Let's talk about daniel the craftsmanship is really there the techniques are there
35:23And I the taste is there somewhat not always not always
35:27But somewhat I mean, I happen to agree with you zach today. He gives random shorts. It's a little easter
35:34midriff
35:35It's a little costume. The closure was too simple, so it wasn't really thought all the way through it would be in the rack of
35:44Things that we would consider because it would make a great photo and you know now we are almost at the end of
35:50This season it's very hard to make a decision now and say you are not going any further
35:55Because you know, I happen to think that
35:58Three today were weak. I think patricia was weak. I think daniel was too much and I think that michelle
36:06Was too simple. I'm sorry. This was for an editorial and here's the other thing that is interesting. It's not like
36:14Michelle is a minimalist
36:17And think about last week. I know she did amazing amazing last week. It's not like she's a minimalist last week
36:23And this is her aesthetic and she really can't do more outrageous. No, that is not the case
36:31There is a success story with michelle too though because in the very beginning
36:35I really questioned her taste and I feel like she's kind of climbed the ladder
36:40And I'm happy for her so I hate to kind of shoot her down now too
36:46And I don't want to shoot down somebody who's presenting us with real good clothing. Yeah
36:52Let's talk about patricia. We know that patricia and richard don't really work together very well
36:57He wasn't a lot of help to her this week. It was unfortunate that she had richard
37:02But there's something very interesting about patricia. She has such an original authentic point of view
37:08It is nobody else. She is referencing no one
37:12It is really coming from her and that is
37:16Something that you have to champion in a designer. I do feel like she needs
37:21Significant improvement and experimentation with shape. Well, she made a tent for god's sake a fringe tent
37:29Yes
37:30It's such a delicate balance because I feel like with michelle
37:33I love that look and I would totally wear it
37:35I didn't love patricia's dress, but I loved how much thought she put into it
37:38And I love that she was telling a story through it and you should have seen some of the things she's done in the past literally
37:44Things that we all haven't seen before okay. This wasn't easy, but we've made our decision
37:52Okay, let's bring them back out
37:54Designers were getting down to the wire here
38:18Some of you really went for it today
38:20And others of you not so much
38:27Stanley
38:29You are the winner of this challenge. Wow. Thank you. What an honor. Thank you so much
38:35So your look will be photographed on giordano booster in mary claire magazine congratulations. Thank you nina
38:42I'm super excited to wear your design. I'll make it look really good. You will stanley you're in you can leave the runway
38:48I'm super excited. This is huge jordano loves it. She says she's gonna rock it feeling very very happy
38:55Layana you're in you can leave the runway. Thank you
39:03Daniel
39:06You're in you can leave the runway. Thank you
39:09Thank you
39:19Michelle
39:20Your look was not surprising or special enough
39:24Nina specifically said not to give her a t-shirt and pants
39:29And that is exactly what you did
39:31Patricia
39:33Patricia we have come to expect the unusual from you
39:37But it didn't quite work this time your look was not well made it was sloppy and unfinished
39:49Patricia
39:51You're in oh my god thank you
39:59You can leave the runway
40:15Michelle
40:17You're getting a do or die moment

40:59Wow there's another
41:00I will yeah

41:02Yay
41:02Wow
41:03I don't really want to be touched right now
41:06What did she say?
41:06I'm just saying
41:07Um just
41:10You have one last chance
41:11Oh my god that's amazing
41:13Okay
41:16It's hard to get super excited about a second chance when you feel like even your second chance won't be good enough
