00:00With all that green webbing, I think Spidey's getting slimy.
00:04Here's your look at the Hasbro Spider-Man Venom vs. Spider-Man.
00:20In Venom vs. the Marvel superheroes take on alien symbiote powers to battle Venom and his horde of Venomized villains.
00:26This collectible Marvel figure features 9 points of articulation, so kids can easily pose their figure for playtime or display.
00:33Judging by the webbing that comes in clue with the wall crawler, somebody needs to get Spidey's certainly a hanky.
00:38Before somebody does do that, by the way, I don't feel the need to run away just yet.
00:41So let's first, though, take the tape measure and see how tall the new Venom vs. Spider-Man stands.
00:47This was actually more, to be honest with you, an impulse item.
00:50I was actually at Walmart picking up Jurassic Park toys, some of which we've already had a look at here lately this week.
00:55While I was there, though, I was kind of looking down the aisles just seeing what else they had.
00:59I was also at, by the way, a different Walmart than normal, and I noticed that they had a much better toy selection than the dismal Walmart I usually shop at.
01:07Sure enough, though, I looked across, and on the shelf was these Venom vs. figures.
01:11So I thought to myself, you know what, I'll pick up Spider-Man at the very least.
01:15Then when I moved Spider-Man out of the way, I noticed that Venom was behind him.
01:19So I picked those both up.
01:20Now, we're only going to be looking at Spider-Man also in this review, and the figures are generally quite small.
01:25Well, they work out to be about a $9.98 figure.
01:28I think it was $9.00 and something cents.
01:30I think for under $10.00, I know, again, it's a very small Spidey, but I think that's still not bad,
01:35considering how much articulation this guy actually packs.
01:38As for how tall he stands, it's about three and three-quarters of an inch in height.
01:42That translates, though, to a Spider-Man that's nine and a half centimeters tall.
01:46So if I understand this correctly, in order for Spider-Man and his friends to battle Venom and his Venomized villains,
01:52they have to adopt the idea of using symbiote weapons.
01:55Spider-Man, though, when it comes to his weapon, to be honest with you, it looks just like a big string of snot.
02:01I know that's not the grossest thing to really be talking about, but certainly it does.
02:04I mean, when I think of Venom, I don't tend to think of green.
02:07I think of anything.
02:08They probably could have maybe changed the color to a purple or blue.
02:11There is, in fact, actually a couple of figures from this line that actually, in fact, have blue and have purple.
02:16Maybe that's one of the reasons why they chose to give Spidey green.
02:20The webbing doesn't really do anything at all.
02:21It's not a suction cup, so don't try to stick this to something,
02:24hoping that Spider-Man's going to be able to be hanging down from it.
02:28I'm actually kind of surprised, really, that they chose not to give it a suction cup,
02:31because I figured that would have been an easier thing for a kid to play with.
02:34But what we essentially get is sort of a snotty umbrella.
02:38It does have some decent detailing done to it, though.
02:40So, by the way, they've also sculpted this little piece.
02:42It actually kind of looks like it's supposed to be a trigger, like he's got some sort of snot blaster.
02:47Gross. So gross.
02:49There is, however, though, a clip right here.
02:51So you can take yourself your Spider-Man, choose whatever side you have.
02:54Of course, you want to have it on the figure, and you basically just snap it on his arm.
02:57Now, he already has the web shooting hand.
03:00What? He has articulation in the elbow?
03:01Yeah, we'll talk more about that.
03:02So because he already has the web shooting hand on this side,
03:05I'm going to choose to have it clipped here.
03:07Now, I'll tell you right away, though.
03:09I don't find these the easiest thing to clip in place.
03:12First of all, you've got to figure out how far down the arm it goes.
03:15It's just the right size that clips around this area of his wrist.
03:19You move it further up, though, there's no way it's going to be fitting around his forearm.
03:23I don't even know why I was even trying.
03:24But that's basically what it looks like.
03:26With at least the possibility that he packs, you can get him to stand just barely.
03:31I mean, you kind of have to kind of bend his knees back just a bit.
03:34But Spidey at least has the...
03:35This would just be a total disappointment and a letdown altogether if you put something like this in Spider-Man's hands.
03:41And then the figure went...
03:42And smashed his face on the floor.
03:44Let's take the webbing, though, out of his hands.
03:46There is, by the way, no other storage space to store this.
03:49It's not like...
03:49I guess you could clip it on his leg.
03:51But then how silly would that then look?
03:52It kind of would look like he's carrying around a drink tray.
03:55Does that even fit?
03:56Yeah.
03:57Carrying around a little drink tray so he could put all those drinks on top of the big snotty tray.
04:01Let's remove that right now.
04:02We'll just kind of put it off to the side.
04:03Getting a closer look at Spider-Man.
04:06Fully going into this knowing that the figure wasn't going to be the greatest at $9.
04:10I was actually pleasantly surprised to see that this is actually not a bad-looking Spider-Man at all.
04:14It's very small, though.
04:15I mean, we already kind of know.
04:17Like, three and three-quarter inch...
04:18For me, at least, growing up in the 80s, three and three-quarter inch was the norm when it came to Star Wars and G.I. Joes.
04:25Of course, back in the day, we also used to get a whole bunch of Marvel figures that...
04:29I mean, this was like my heyday doing YouTube.
04:31It was way back when.
04:32We were getting, like, poseable Spider-Man figures.
04:34Remember?
04:34Everybody remembers those and the Iron Man figures?
04:36Oh, those were just some of the greatest times.
04:38I still remember hunting out...
04:40Was it the Iron Monger?
04:41I was trying to find an Iron Monger.
04:43I think I ended up finding one.
04:45I noticed that nothing at all to do with Spider-Man.
04:48Found one, though, and I think I had the wrong leg or the wrong arm.
04:52I think I got rid of all of those Iron Man figures.
04:56I do like, though, the look of Spider-Man.
04:58He doesn't feel so bogged down with unnecessary paint.
05:01Some could look at this and say, well, the paint applications are a little bit of a letdown
05:04because they have not gone in at all and painted the webbing.
05:08The problem with when you take a figure this small and shrink them down this small, then
05:13you go in there and paint the webbing.
05:14Not only will it increase the cost of producing the figure because you're going to have to
05:17pay for the paint applications.
05:19But then I think with a smaller portrait like this, the webbing would just look like a mess.
05:24I would rather, though, a Spider-Man being this size look cleaner than just put black lines all over it.
05:29Because, again, like the figure is way too small to pull that off.
05:32He's got the larger eyes.
05:33I think those are painted well for what they are.
05:34He's got, of course, the spider symbol there on the front.
05:37The spider symbol doesn't feel sculpted.
05:39So I would imagine they probably would have just printed this in place.
05:42But maybe he had done that also so that they could use this body again for another figure.
05:46One side, though, has a gripping hand.
05:48So to go back to this, I mean, maybe that's one of the reasons why they gave him this.
05:52Does it really fit?
05:53Not really.
05:54I thought, OK, maybe there's a little lip of plastic here.
05:56You could fit that in between his hand.
05:58I guess you could somewhat do it.
06:00I don't think that's the reason why it's there.
06:02Yeah, Spider-Man has only just a gripping hand on one side.
06:04And the web is shooting hand on the other.
06:08And again, with the amount of possibility, this guy's managing to pull off.
06:11There's nothing suckier, though, when you get a Spidey, where his hand is like this and
06:14you just you can't turn it.
06:16And it always just looks like it's in the wrong place at the wrong time.
06:19Now, like overall, the figure looks pretty good.
06:21I mean, like the webbing down below here for his feet.
06:24The feet don't seem like they're a separate piece at all.
06:26So they probably would have gone and painted.
06:27Although, again, like looking at it, the plastic seems to match pretty good.
06:31Maybe this is a separate piece.
06:32I can't turn it and maybe turning it probably would have been a bad idea.
06:36Anyways, the only thing that does sort of feel like it's not painted all that well is
06:41maybe the back symbol.
06:42The symbol is really dark.
06:44I mean, probably would be hard to pull off a color matching that of the the molded red
06:48plastic.
06:49I think they've done for the most part is still a pretty good job for Spidey of this cost
06:52and this size.
06:53Now, for a figure, though, of this size, you probably would look at something like this
06:57and just make the assumption that the figure is going to have a head swivel, right?
07:00Five points, five points of articulation.
07:02Arms swivel back and forth.
07:04And all you'd really be able to do is move the legs back and forth.
07:07Well, I'm here right now to break that mythos, break the idea that this figure has to have
07:12limited levels of articulation.
07:14And happy to report, though, the figure has a lot more than you would think he has.
07:17Well, if you've already seen the beginning of this review, I already told you how many
07:20points of articulation this guy possesses.
07:22But let's run through that now.
07:23Spider-Man's head is going to be on a ball joint.
07:26So already right out the gate, it's not just a peg joint.
07:29It's not just the figure's head is sitting on a peg and that's all you can really do.
07:33You can, in fact, move Spider-Man's head up and down.
07:35Not a lot, though, but enough that it counts.
07:39Again, the head does do that.
07:40The arms, again, surprising to see that not only do they rotate like you would traditionally
07:45think, but for a figure of this size, he can actually pull out a T-pose and get his
07:50arms at 90 degrees.
07:51He does have, unfortunately, though, red pegs, red hinges on the inside of his arms.
07:57I don't really know why, though, because everything else on the figure is mostly blue.
08:01I mean, yeah, they probably would have, again, molded all this, but the hinge joint, I would
08:04imagine they would have not because that would basically be, it's pinless, right?
08:08So that would have probably been fitting over top of the hinge.
08:11Why wouldn't they have just done the hinge in blue plastic instead of red?
08:14It's the only thing that kind of is a bit of an eyesore.
08:16Not that I really want to be getting this close to Spider-Man's armpits.
08:19Could you imagine how smelly it would be underneath that suit?
08:23But yeah, the arms do hinge out.
08:25Again, you got your 90 degree angle bend.
08:28The figure does also have a bend in his elbow.
08:30In addition to that, you can also take the arms and rotate them all the way around.
08:33The only thing he doesn't have, though, is swiveling hands.
08:36Now, I feel like that's a bit of articulation that the figure doesn't necessarily need.
08:40The hands, by the way, and the plastic overall is a bit gummy.
08:44I mean, you can really see how much movement I can get out of the arms.
08:46I guess that's not a bad thing.
08:48One thing, though, too, is that the figure does have leg splits.
08:51Now, I worry a little bit about the longevity of these pegs.
08:55The pegs are very narrow, as you probably can see as I get so close to the camera with Spider-Man's crotch.
09:01Oh, man.
09:02Talking about armpits.
09:03Anyways, though, the hinge joint, you can see how very narrow that post would be.
09:08I don't know, like, if a kid's playing rough with Spider-Man, at least for a $9 figure,
09:12you probably could give this to a kid and not feel so disappointed if he breaks.
09:16But I just think, though, like, moving his legs around, even though he can pull off a very good Van Dam,
09:20I don't know if that plastic's going to last over time, especially with a rough kid.
09:24Legs move forward and back.
09:26They don't move back all the way just because of Spidey's butt.
09:28That's as far back as it goes.
09:31The figure does have a knee bend.
09:32And with that knee bend also goes a lower rotation in his lower leg.
09:37I'm happy.
09:38I'm actually kind of really surprised.
09:39Going really into this, only just expecting this guy to be an impulse item.
09:43One that, you know, as you walk down a toy aisle, you see something that you were kind of already looking at.
09:48Then you start to kind of think in your head, okay, well, I have a little bit left of money.
09:51No, no, I mean, I could get the groceries.
09:53I could get the necessities.
09:54I could get the things I really need to take home with me.
09:56But let's instead just kind of look around.
09:58I've got like five.
09:59I've got, I think I had like $15 left to kind of spend on myself.
10:03And as I kind of like looked around, this kind of caught my eye.
10:07Out of just thinking it was going to be a very limited articulation Spider-Man with not really much at all you could do with the arms nor with the legs.
10:13I thought still, you know what?
10:14I'll pick it up.
10:15Honestly, though, I looked at Spider-Man.
10:17I had him in my hand.
10:19I mean, obviously not loose like this.
10:20That would make me a thief.
10:21I had him in my hand.
10:23And I thought, do I really necessarily need the Spider-Man?
10:25And then when I moved the Spider-Man out, I realized Venom was behind it.
10:28And Venom really was the thing that kind of then sold me getting the Spider-Man.
10:32If it wasn't for the Venom, maybe I might have passed on the Spider-Man.
10:34But I'm glad, though, that he didn't.
10:36Not only does he look the part of Spider-Man, but he's decently posed as well.
10:41I mean, really, it's been a while since I've gotten a figure of this size and of this price.
10:45I just more of just assumed it was going to be, you know, a five-point articulated Spider-Man
10:49with some silly snot webbing that came included with it.
10:53But no, again, I was very surprised.
10:55So much to the point where I'm almost even tempted to go back and pick up any more of
10:58the Spider-Man Venom versus figures outside of the Spidey and the Venom I've already picked up.
11:03Here it was going on so much about Spidey's pose villain.
11:05The one thing I forgot to mention, though, is that the Venom versus figures all have peggles
11:09on the bottoms of their feet.
11:11In other words, while though Hasbro didn't include one with their figures, you can certainly,
11:16though, use a generic black display stand by an unknown company.
11:19We all know the company that's making those circular black stands.
11:22You can use that, though, for Spider-Man and give him some interesting poses.
11:26It's not going to be believable, though, the figures swinging from rooftops, but it does
11:30a little bit more interesting things than just the figure standing vanilla.
11:34Now, again, I've got the webbing attached onto his hand.
11:36We assume, though, that this is all, quote, Venomized weapons.
11:41Venomized weapons.
11:42There is actually a couple of figures, though, advertised in this wave.
11:46A couple that I still would like to get my hands on.
11:47There is a symbiote suit Spider-Man.
11:49What are the chances I'm going to come across that?
11:51There is also the Iron Spider, and there's Spider Gwen.
11:54Miles Morales is also in there as well.
11:56But if I try to find any others from this line, I would really like to get my hands on
12:01that symbiote Spider-Man.
12:02That would be definitely one I'd like to get.
12:04What do you guys, though, think of the Venom versus figures?
12:07I know initially, like looking at these, you probably just thought to yourself,
12:10no, these are for kids, man.
12:11Why did you even waste the money on that?
12:13Hopefully, though, this video has swayed you now in the direction of thinking, my God,
12:17man, I got to get my hands on a couple of these figures because this guy has done the
12:20video so well for them.
12:23As mentioned, though, we are going to be looking at Venom.
12:25Venom was also the same figure that I found at that Walmart.
12:28I think now I'm going to have to start shopping at that Walmart.
12:31It was completely out of my way, but I think it's well worth the drive.
12:35At least if it means that they have a better stock of toys than the current Walmart going
12:39to now.
12:40If you guys did enjoy this video now, do it a solid, throw it a like.
12:44You guys want to stick around for more so?
12:45Yeah.
12:46Yeah, I hope so.
12:47We are, again, wrapping up things right now for the Wallcrawler.
12:49Right around the corner, though, as Spider-Man probably would have already sensed that,
12:53we are also going to be looking at the big behemoth known as Venom.
12:57Surprisingly enough, though, also the same price.
12:58So, as always, guys, thanks for watching.
13:01See you guys next time.
