00:00I think when it comes to the doctor, keep her far away from the calendar.
00:03Here's a look at the Trick or Treat Studios' George A. Romero's Day of the Dead Science Personnel, Dr. Sarah
00:08Bowman.
00:19Trick or Treat Studios is proud to present the officially licensed Day of the Dead Sarah 5-inch figure.
00:25From George A. Romero's classic 1985 zombie epic comes the Day of the Dead official 5-inch Sarah action figure.
00:31Sarah comes complete with zombie wrangling snare, oozy, and pistol.
00:35One thing that always relaxes me is looking at a finished calendar page that has a picture of a pumpkin
00:39patch.
00:40Actually, I find that really relaxing. I like going to pumpkin patches, especially during October.
00:44If you may find this relaxing, just know, though, that right now, the Day of the Dead, Dr. Sarah Bowman
00:49is listed as a backorder on Trick or Treat Studios' site.
00:52She was at one point listed for $29.99. I would imagine, though, she'd probably still be listed for that
00:57price when stock of her finally gets back in.
01:00A big thank you to the folks over at Trick or Treat Studios that did provide this sample.
01:03I hope this review is going to be as relaxing as a picture of a pumpkin patch.
01:08Man, oh man, that's a really relaxing sight.
01:10How about this first sight? We're going to take the tape measure.
01:12And I'm going to tell you, though, that Dr. Sarah Bowman stands at 4.5 inches in height.
01:17We're working then roughly out to be about 11.5 centimeters tall.
01:21Three figures now in for the Day of the Dead retro line with only Dr. Tongue left.
01:25For the figures that we've already, though, had a look at, I can see he's keeping himself better together.
01:29Captain Henry Rhodes, we've also looked at Bub.
01:32I don't know about you, and I'm sure many of you already know this.
01:35I was like a month old when I found out that Bub was actually played by Sherman Howard.
01:40Sherman Howard was also Lex Luthor in the Superboy TV series.
01:44I had no idea.
01:47One thing, though, I was well aware of is on the back of the Day of the Dead retro figures,
01:50there is actually a file cutout card.
01:52So you can cut that out and include that along with Henry Rhodes and Bub that we've already had a
01:56look at.
01:57Dr. Tongue, when I eventually get around to him, I'll be also doing the same.
02:00Science personnel, Dr. Sarah Bowman.
02:03I had no idea, really, that she was 31.
02:04I was so well aware that she was working in the science and research division,
02:08and if you'd like, you can pause and read this for yourself.
02:12I'm not going to hold this for a long enough time that you guys are going to be able to
02:14read, I'm sure, all of this.
02:16But, yeah, pause the video if you certainly would like to see that and read that for yourself.
02:20Let's move that all out of the way.
02:21The figure does also come in clear with three accessories.
02:24Probably the most likely one to be displayed along with Sarah is going to be the zombie snare.
02:29While she doesn't have actually a workable gimmick,
02:31she so far is the only figure from the Day of the Dead that doesn't actually do anything
02:35other than just having some articulation, which we'll be looking at more in a second.
02:39The figure, at least, though, for the zombie snare, does have a snare that actually retracts.
02:43So if you pull the end of the cord here, the loop that it has on the end, you'll see,
02:47becomes a little tighter.
02:48So it'll be good, for example, if you happen to have yourself Bub.
02:52We can just sort of wrap the snare around Bub and pull tight.
02:55But not too tight, I'm sure that's not going to be something he's going to like all that much.
02:59I like that at least that that's something that works as a gimmick,
03:02because, again, like Sarah doesn't really have anything that works necessarily on the figure.
03:07Bub, for example, I mean, obviously, you squeeze the fingers, he would do a saluting hand.
03:11And we know with Rhodes, you took the top half and divorced him from the bottom half,
03:15you'd see all his guts and innards inside.
03:18Probably my favorite of the gimmicks would be one with Henry Rhodes.
03:22But again, like she doesn't have any working gimmick.
03:24But I think she more than makes up for it with the accessories that she has.
03:27She also comes included, oh, let's not drop it like a hot potato.
03:31She has a revolver, if I can actually hold on to it better this time.
03:34It doesn't look like it's got paint to it.
03:36It looks like it probably was all cast in silver plastic, and that's fine.
03:40She does also already have a dedicated trigger firing hand.
03:43So we can take the revolver and put that into her hand like that.
03:46This would work well with the Uzi that we're about to have a look at, too.
03:49And the way that they've actually designed the finger,
03:51you can actually have the finger lined up perfectly to the trigger.
03:55The downside, though, to Sarah is that she only has one gripping hand.
03:59So all those accessories, the tube we've already looked at,
04:02can only really be used with this hand over here.
04:05Good news, at least, though, is that she does have a belt and a holster.
04:08So we can take, for example, the revolver, move her arm out of the way,
04:12and we can take the revolver and slide it snugly into the side.
04:16The belt's a little on the looser side.
04:18There doesn't seem to be a way to tighten that,
04:20but I guess in the movie it also sits a little lower on her legs.
04:24Of course, it does also come in clear with the Uzi.
04:27Just to put the figure down here for a second.
04:31I'll show you guys, though, the Uzi.
04:34Something, again, you see a lot more in 80s movies and TV series.
04:38You don't really see Uzis much more anymore.
04:40Much more anymore.
04:42Again, you can take the Uzi and, again, fit that into her hand.
04:46Had it only been the case that she could have had two gripping hands,
04:49I could have put the Uzi in one and the zombie snare in the other.
04:52But just the way that this hand is designed,
04:54there's no way at all for her to properly hold it.
04:57So we're going to only have to rely on really one hand
04:59to do all the work of the figure.
05:01Let's take that out of her hand now.
05:03Get a closer look now at the figure.
05:05All in all, though, a really nice-looking character.
05:08Sarah Bowman, of course.
05:10Somewhat the lead, I guess, in the movie.
05:12I think likeness-wise it looks very much like her.
05:14I find it also looks a little bit like also Maggie from Walking Dead.
05:18And that's not necessarily a negative thing at all.
05:21The face is good.
05:22It's a little shinier, though, in the plastic.
05:25So you'll see that it looks like she's actually a little more sweatier side.
05:28Of course, for the rest of the outfit that she has,
05:30she has her top and, of course, her pants very much khaki.
05:33She loves beige, it seems.
05:35You can also see, by the way that they've also sculpted the arms,
05:38that she doesn't have any hinge in her elbows, for example.
05:41But up to this point,
05:42I don't think really any figure has had that, for that matter.
05:44I mean, like, Bub never had it.
05:46Henry Rhodes never had that either.
05:47So this figure is going to have your standard levels of possibility.
05:50One in the head, two in the shoulders,
05:52and two in the legs, adding up then to five.
05:55But again, like, the detail looks good for the figure.
05:57Of course, she's got the ponytail there on the back,
05:58like the way they've sculpted the wrinkles on her.
06:02Now, she doesn't...
06:03She does have pickles on the bums of the feet,
06:05but none of these figures, for that matter,
06:06really have had display stands.
06:08So you can't really necessarily put her on a display stand.
06:10I suppose if you had extra stands laying around,
06:13which I happen to do,
06:14it does use the same universal-sized pegs,
06:16and you would just be plugging those on the bums of her boots.
06:19For Sarah Bowman's articulation,
06:21very much like the other two,
06:23the head's going to be on a swivel.
06:24Now, unfortunately, though,
06:25with having a ponytail on the back,
06:27I don't feel too confident swiveling her head all the way around,
06:30because I would hate to really pull and pop
06:32the ponytail on the back of her head.
06:34For her arms,
06:35they only are going to swivel all the way around.
06:37There's nothing at all in her hands.
06:39And again,
06:39she has a relaxed hand on the one side.
06:41I guess she can look up more in awe,
06:43surprised,
06:44as the hands are reaching out from the wall.
06:46And again,
06:46same thing on the side, too.
06:48No waist articulation,
06:49but the legs do move again forward and back.
06:51So again,
06:51if you want to have her in a running pose,
06:52you can possibly do that, too.
06:54She doesn't have a gimmick,
06:56which is, I guess,
06:57one detriment to the figure,
06:58but it doesn't necessarily mean
07:00that with the Day of the Dead figures,
07:01they all have to have a gimmick.
07:02And even when they do,
07:04they're all different from one another.
07:05Henry Rhodes was, again,
07:06not beside himself,
07:08but he certainly was two halves of a whole.
07:11I think I like, really,
07:12Rhodes' gimmick probably the most.
07:14Bub had a standard,
07:15you know,
07:16again,
07:16gimmick feature,
07:17where, again,
07:17you would squeeze the legs
07:18and his one arm would salute up.
07:21They, I think,
07:22should have probably all had gimmicks.
07:23I would imagine,
07:23like,
07:24Dr. Tongue is going to have something to do,
07:25as you would have probably guessed,
07:26with a tongue.
07:27And we're going to be looking at him
07:29this week as well.
07:30Dr. Sarah Bowman
07:31was played by actress Laurie Cardiel.
07:33She's one of those actresses
07:34that you only really know her in one thing.
07:36If you were to ask me anything else
07:38that she's been in,
07:39I wouldn't be able to tell you anything
07:40other than Day of the Dead.
07:41But it's funny, though,
07:42that she's been in an episode
07:43of Tales from the Dark Side.
07:45She was also in an episode
07:46of The Equalizer.
07:47And most recently,
07:48and saying most recently
07:49was even then two years ago,
07:51she was also an agent
07:52in There's a Zombie Outside.
07:53So, again,
07:54she goes kind of back to her roots,
07:56playing in a zombie movie.
07:57But, again,
07:58I'll always really remember her
07:59as the one that gets freaked out
08:00going to a calendar,
08:01a pumpkin patch calendar,
08:03and having the zombie hands
08:04sticking out from the wall.
08:06Now, this one is slated to drop June,
08:08or at least they're planning
08:09to ship this out in June,
08:10June 30th this month,
08:13this year.
08:13So if you guys are interested
08:14and would like to still get
08:15your hands on Sarah Bowman,
08:16I know that doesn't really sound right,
08:17or you'd like to get maybe
08:18Henry Rose,
08:19or, hey, why not,
08:20the entire set.
08:21They seem to be now
08:22starting to ship these,
08:23or will be starting to ship them
08:24this month.
08:25And each of the individual figures
08:27are going to be listed for $29.99,
08:29which, again,
08:30I don't think is a bad price at all.
08:32Some could say, like,
08:33that's too high of a price.
08:34But, I mean,
08:35when you think of really, like,
08:36other, like, reaction figures,
08:37reaction figures
08:38sell for about the same.
08:40I think it's not surprising at all
08:41that figures nowadays,
08:43even ones that have
08:44limited levels of posability,
08:46usually they're anywhere
08:47from $20 to $30 on their own.
08:49These benefit from having
08:50some additional gimmicks,
08:51and while she doesn't have
08:52a gimmick that's tied to her body,
08:53she has, though,
08:54a gimmick that's tied to something
08:55that can be wrapped around a zombie,
08:57that being the zombie snare.
08:59A big thank you again
08:59to the folks over at
09:00Trick or Treat Studios
09:01that did provide this sample.
09:02Today, we were having a look
09:03at George A. Romero's
09:05Day of the Dead,
09:06Dr. Sarah Bowman,
09:07who apparently was 31.
09:09I would have guessed
09:10she was probably
09:10a little younger than 31,
09:12but I don't want to say
09:13she looks her age,
09:14because I actually thought
09:15she was a little bit younger.
09:16What do you guys, though,
09:16think of Sarah Bowman?
09:17Let me know down below
09:18in the comments section.
09:18Do you guys have also plans
09:20to pick these ones up
09:21for yourself?
09:22And seeing as we've already
09:23now looked at three,
09:24why not finish with the fourth?
09:25This week, also,
09:26we will be looking at
09:27the Day of the Dead,
09:28Dr. Tongue.
09:29So I hope you guys
09:29can be coming back for that.
09:31As always,
09:31thanks for watching.
09:32See you guys next time.
