Jack Sparkes “can’t wait” to meet Bristol Rovers’ supporters

00:00Bristol Rovers new signing Jack Sparks has made clear that he cannot wait to meet the Gas supporters

00:06come the start of the new season at the Memorial Stadium when Bristol Rovers will play in League Two.

00:12Definitely, yeah, can't wait.

00:15That first game of the season, I'm sure the ground will be bouncing and we'll get the numbers.

00:20We need their support as much as anything this year because it's going to be a tough year

00:24and we want to go up, so we need their support for that.

00:27Because you've made League Two before, you know all about the types of opponents we're dealing with,

00:31opponents from across the country.

00:33What sort of season can we expect from an opposition standpoint?

00:36Yeah, I think it'll be a difficult season.

00:38You always go through ups and downs, whether you're bottom of the league, top of the league, whatever.

00:43So stick with us, you know, it's going to be difficult.

00:48But, you know, at the end of the day, what matters is, you know, at the end of the season.

00:51Tell us a bit about yourself as a player, fans that maybe haven't seen loads of you in the last couple of years.

00:57So I'm kind of an attacking wing-back, full-back.

01:01I like to get forward, put crosses in the box, try and make goals, assist goals.

01:06So, yeah, that's what to kind of expect from me.

01:09And Bristol City's Rob Atkinson, who has just signed a new contract at the club,

01:14has made clear that he has been excited by the passion shown by new head coach Gerhard Struber.

01:20Very much so.

01:22I've already had a chat with him and the idea of working with him is really exciting, actually.

01:28And I thought it was important to contact him before signing this deal because I wanted to ensure that I was part of the plans.

01:37And he very much reassured me that I was.

01:39So, yeah, he's passionate, he's energetic, and hopefully he can sort of add his own twist onto the club,

01:48which I'm very much looking forward to being part of.

01:50It was obviously a good end to the season here at Bristol City as well.

01:54I imagine you were still in touch with many of the lads here.

01:57Yes, a lot of them.

01:58It was nice, actually, to sort of watch as a fan.

02:02I was really, really enjoying it.

02:04And sort of I loved watching whenever City were on.

02:08I'd always watch.

02:09And whenever lads would score, I'd send them messages.

02:11And whenever they'd do well, I'd make sure they knew they've done well.

02:14So, yeah.
