Olympic Sprinter Emmanuel Callender believes bigger things are on the horizon for T&T sprinter Leah Bertrand.

Bertrand recently impressed at the NCAA Track and Field Championships with a few sub 11 performances and Callender thinks she stands as testament that there is value investing in local athletes.

00:00sprinter leah bertrand has been tearing up the collegiate circuit with some promising times
00:05she's recorded over three sub-eleven performances this season which spells promising signs for the
00:10athlete it's a tremendous improvement for the 22 year old who ran 11.27 seconds at her debut
00:17in the 2024 olympics former olympian third coach emmanuel calendar says it's a sign that she's been
00:24putting in the effort she's doing really well she looks very strong you can see that she was being
00:28put she's been working in the gym and putting in some solid weight i think i think she will do very
00:34well this season definitely but we we're not only liable we must focus on we must look for
00:40other liable children we had kelly and brutis we had um we had michelle we still have michelle we
00:48had richard thompson and myself but now we're not seeing other athletes stepping up to the podium
00:53where we once were and that's where i think we will play we will play a strategic role
00:58in moving forward with that kalinda who currently coaches elite champions performance international
01:03athletics club believes that tnt's athletes possess the potential to reach the world stage yes there's
01:09a lot of potential but there's a lot of room for growth as well um we've seen some of these athletes
01:14showing a lot of promise but in certain areas they are lacking where strength and condition is concerned
01:20i think once the the coaches and the teachers or the whoever working on these athletes um
01:26started targeting on these areas they would see some tremendous times
01:30next year please god dropping kalinda indicated that he continues to liaise with sprinters of his
01:36era like richard thompson and they are looking forward to perhaps one day meeting the new minister
